DWTS 14 End-of-Season Awards – Which Couple’s Elimination Was the Most Disappointing?
Other responses:
William & Cheryl – 4
Jaleel & Kym – 2
Katherine & Mark – 1
Gavin & Karina – 1
All of them really they were all so much fun – 1 (Vogue, did you write this one in? 😉 )
None. Even if it was a shocker, I wasn’t disappointed because I wasn’t rooting for them. – 1 (And I thought I had a hard time this season!)
Courtney: This is always an interesting category, because I think certain people interpret it in different ways – some people seem to vote for the most shocking elimination, some people vote for their favorite couple (because it would stand to reason that their elimination probably would be the most disappointing in their mind!), some people vote for someone in the finale that they felt they didn’t place high enough. *shrug* To each his own. I guess I tend to vote for the couple whose elimination seemed to illicit the greatest emotional response in me – and I think that often gets colored by how that couple fares throughout the season. My knee jerk reaction with this one was Roshon & Chelsie, but then I realized by the time they got sent home that they had been beaten up so badly by the judges week to week that I was almost relieved that they weren’t going to have to endure it any longer, and I wasn’t going to continue yelling at the tv in frustration. I was kinda sad to see Gladys go, for the simple reason that I thought they really kinda screwed her in the end; I was disappointed to see Maria & Derek go, because I thought they could have delivered a much more entertaining performance in the finale than William & Cheryl. But in the end, as surprising as this may sound, I think I was actually most disappointed to see Jack go – because at that point in the season, I wasn’t totally jaded by all the fishy stuff the judges were doing, and I thought Jack was one of the stronger male dancers in the competition and I wanted to see more from him. I guess by the time Roshon & Maria’s eliminations rolled around, I was kind of “whatever” about this season as a whole, so it didn’t bother me quite so much – but I was definitely upset by Jack’s earlier ouster.
Vogue: My feelings in this category stumped me too. I thought this award would go to Roshon all season, but, he actually stuck around until the right time despite how harsh the judges were on him all season. In the end, it was a toss up between Martina, Jack, and Sherri. Who did I pick? Sherri!! Yes, Sherri. At first I had my misgivings with all the cheating stuff and then she started wrapping me around her finger with how funny and compassionate she was about learning how to dance. She was so into it all. When she cried during her elimination, I cried too. She was so thankful to her fans and the experience. I also loved it when she said to take on the things you are most scared of and how that can make you the happiest in this life “on the other side”. Remember that? I melted. I was sad to see Jack go as well because there was potential there and he was just an all around nice guy. I would have liked to have seen his message about adoption and finding his daughter played out more. Then there was Martina. I was really hoping to see a retired tennis champ and one of my tennis mentors really take over the dance floor “mentally” somehow like she did tennis and her competitors somehow, but, I was more disappointed in Tony than in Martina. I will always wonder if she had another partner, would she have done better? Maybe not?
Heidi: Well, believe it or not, I don’t think I voted and I don’t think I was really disappointed to see any of them go – I’m a glass half full kind of woman when it comes to Derek and partners like Maria. Maria was not a natural dancer, but she worked so freakin’ hard and wouldn’t give up and had so much fun and made Derek have so much fun that it’s probably one of my favorite partnerships. But really, with someone like Maria and Derek I end up just being grateful that they made it as long as they did. Sure, I much preferred them to William and Cheryl and they would almost certainly have brought more to a free style – but Maria had a great run. And it was a more successful season for Derek than it was for Cheryl, that’s for sure. Despite all the pimping, Cheryl couldn’t get past third place. Derek, on the other hand, took someone that he thought would be eliminated in week three or four and found a way to make sure she stuck around in a season where she could have easily been forgotten in the William/Katherine mass pimpage. Katherine being the only one worthy of such pimpage. 🙂 Well, yes, I was probably sad to see Jack go…and Gladys…but disappointed?? I dunno. Hellooo? Katherine and Mark were not actually “eliminated” – they just didn’t WIN. Geez, greedy much? 🙂
I don’t remember what I voted… I think Jack and Anna because I wished they could stay around another week or two. But… results are not surprising at all. 🙂
yup…i was expecting this result..i think they wouldn’t have won this category if they weren’t on top of the leader board… Heidi..i agree…Derek took “Bambi on ice” farther than anyone of us believed it is possible..they had a great s run and we had a great season..and ROTFL ..” All of them really they were all so much fun – 1 (Vogue, did you write this one in?)” we all know only Vogue can be sooo nice to give that response..so yeah Court…you are probably right 😀
I voted for Maria and Derek, mainly because I thought they would have been much more entertaining in the finale than William and Cheryl were. I thought Maria came a looooooong way from “Bambi on ice” – due to Derek’s teaching ability and a hell of a lot of work. It was disappointing to me to not see them make the last episode, but that’s just me.. 😉
I was not alone about Jack! Yeah! I felt like he was decent dancer, did not expect him to win, but he also had a good attitude. I thought he would be more popular with the show’s demo since he was one I read many wanted on the show. He was Peter on Melrose Place and Frisco from GH! I was also sad about Roshon and Maria but expected them to leave when they did. The final 3 seemed obvious for weeks and was nice to see the judges be nice to Roshon for once before he was eliminated and Maria was so impressive with her dances and injuries.
I voted for Sherri and Val but Maria and Derek were a close 2nd.
A lot of people forgot Jack was on this season. He really got eliminated too early (rewatched the dances and his persona lstory week wasfun and probably the most gut wrenching dance i think).
I was shocked to see Sherri eliminated, but not sorry.
And Court, no, that wasn’t me who wrote that write in. lolllll
I am kinda with Heidi on this one, at least halfway. At first I was just happy to see them have so much fun which made them fun to watch. But since she had NO dance trng, I didnt expect her to be able to hang long and that thought quadrupled as the injuries became known. But then, with her tenaciousness, Derek’s ability to create dances for her that got progressively more entertaining and stood out at just the right times and her ability to keep improving, I was sooo disappointed for them and viewers when they got eliminated. Also because I think Derek half-killed himself trying some TOUGH moves to pull off with an amateur(one being the death drop theyhad to drop from the tango because his back gave out aft 12 hr practice)because I think Derek thought if they cracked the top 3 just might be able to pull off a miracle win after seeing how far they got in the season. Felt bad for them, was disappointed but like Derek said,,2nd or 3rd would’ve been more heartbreaking.
I hope they get a second chance someday. I think with their chemistry, competitiveness and her fierceness, his brilliance and the fact that they just look like some kinda surreal “vision” together.. it would be so crazy good and unforgettable.
…sorry to spam but I just had a crazy thought right AFTER I hit submit…
Does anyone think that if by some miracle this All-Star season is a big ratings hit, and some of the “stars” I think alot of people wanted to see return have other committments or are too busy for S15, that TPTB might actually do a second All-Star season ??
I don’t remember who I voted for…..
And Mimi, I honestly hope they don’t repeat the All-Star season! I am almost afraid of what they’re going to do, because every time they have a season that looks/seems promising, they do something to screw it up! It’s only fair if all are paired with original partner, or none are paired with original partner, but I think everyone knows that some will have original partner, and some won’t.
And who will they have? Probably the first 12 or so former contestants that they can find who can manage to make the full time commitment.
Lori:
Just asking your opinion. What do you think Peta and Derek are working on together? Someone mentioned possibly the olympics. Why is it so secret?
Margaret, if you would read what I wrote the first time you asked this question, on the Tony post, you would see what they were doing and wouldn’t have to keep asking.
Yes sorry Heidi:
Do you have any footage?
Today, June 28, this poll to vote end of season 14 awards just appeared on my PURE DANCING …e. but the date was May 24, 2012. I am definitely technologically challenged but this seems out of sync. O Well! I am a DWTS circus addict, the dancing/music being center ring and all the media posting peripheral funsies bopping around the main attraction. The behind the scenes decision makers, THE Big Guy$, make up the tent where all this becomes possible. So they take our pulse through comments and polls, but their gue$$ i$ formula that count$. We, Audience only peeps, be the Buyer$. Per sheer improvement, Roshon takes the honors far and away from all for his teachability, but Maria at the top for her mature sense of humor (understanding of the absurd). It is a $how! Life is THE DANCE! DWT$ Addict.
So excited to find a place to POST I think I answered a different question. Elimination? Well when celebs sign on, they sign on to compete not win. Therefore knowing full well someone will go home every week and that it is about the DANCING BUSINESS not a popularity contest foremost, one WILL go home whose dancing skill doesn”t match the judges criteria. They have been in the business of Dance in multiple ways for years and are also subject to THE BIG GUY$. That’s a dance by itself. I looked all their pedigrees up, even saw a video of Carrie Ann on Broadway. Good job! They DO KNOW DANCE! The going home progression proceeded pretty much per prediction from what I saw. The one I felt for most, Jaleel, showed the most attention to improving his presentation. His posture from the shoulders down real good. The difference between athletes in sports and dance is the carriage of the head. The athlete must be on the look out so neck and head and eyes always swiveling, the dancer’s predictable pattern allows full frontal eye focus and high carriage, one of the things that makes Derek so full on fun and lets us see the twinkle in his eye. Donald started out excellently but had to learn this. Jaleel was getting close to it when his turn came to go. His graciousness as he took his leave endeared him to me. Maria coulda been a winner but she was a real CONTENDA and had really deserved relief and had given her last ounce-did anyone else notice how careful she (and Derek) was of her tender feet in the finale?
