DWTS15 Tony Dovolani: “It’s Gonna Be All Steps Forward” With Melissa Rycroft
Tony Dovolani tells Celebuzz, he and partner Melissa Rycroft only have “up” to go. Read on further to see why….
“Now, she’s taking the opportunity by the horns and really wanting to do well,” he continued. “Back then, even though she wanted to do well, she had no idea what was going on. So I feel like she’s much more mature. I’m proud of her. I became kind of like a big brother when she first joined the show in season 8. Now, I feel like I can actually be her dance partner, because she comes in much more mature.”
Dovolani, who recently announced a partnership with Capezio dancewear, also told Celebuzz he is more than pleased to re-team with Rycroft this season.
“I feel like our chemistry was so great last time,” he said. “It’s the right fit. We get along; we get each other … It still feels fresh.”
“We only have up to go,” he continued. “There’s not gonna be a step back, it’s gonna be all steps forward. We’re so hungry, because we came so close [in season 8] and we didn’t get it.”
You can read the full interview at Celebuzz. I really hope these two come out strong tonight.
ADDING: Go here to see Melissa and Joey on the Morning Blend today too.
Really rooting for Tony and Melissa to do well! 🙂 I think she might be the strongest technical dancer on the female side. If she can hang on to that, hopefully the scores will reflect it.
@ Violet: Can I respectfully add Shawn Johnson to the Technically Strong list for the ladies? 🙂 Either way looking forward to seeing both of them dance tonight!
I had to LOL when Tony said “Back then, even though she wanted to do well, she had no idea what was going on.” I’ve said this before in a prior post a few weeks back, that I think she can be even better this go around because she’s coming in as a big fan of the show now and having seen all the seasons since her own. When she was cast a few days before her season started, she hadn’t watched DWTS so while she did have dance experience which helped her, I don’t think she’d fully grasped at first all the other aspects of the show like the showmanship and getting into character of each dance. Getting into character was her biggest weakness then and I can see her being a lot better at it this season.
@Andrea, yes 🙂 I think Shawn is a pretty good dancer, but IMO, Melissa is better. I think they’re both miles and miles ahead of Kirstie, Bristol, and Pam. I’ve never seen Kelly dance, but just from hearing things about her, I don’t think she is anywhere in the ballpark of Melissa and Shawn.
Oops–forgot about Sabrina. She’s probably actually technically the best, with Melissa 2nd and Shawn 3rd (all my own opinion).
forgot to add Andrea, I’m really looking forward to the show tonight, too! 🙂
Technically Shawn is better than Melissa. Len said 100x how terrible Melissa foot was, Shawn’s issue was never technic , was performance. Melissa was better on that part, but footwork , dancing on hold Shawn was better.
If only the score was the only thing that counted. Didn’t Melissa have high scores in her season?? Also – choreography was part of the problem. Tony has GOT to step it up.
In your opinion,Laila. Different in my opinion.
Melissa did have high scores in her season. And she did make it all the way to 3rd place. And yes, I agree choreography is a problem on Tony’s part.
