Maks Chmerkovskiy Has 10 Week DWTS Season Idea, Talks On Bristol Palin, And More

According to an article at Today, Maks Chmerkovskiy has mellowed his thoughts on Bristol Palin and when someone with low scores advances on Dancing With The Stars. Kirstie Alley has helped him a lot with that issue. He said, “Everybody deserves to be here. I’m not looking at Bristol the way I may have done in the past. She’s doing a fantastic job.” Below is more on how Kirstie Alley has helped him. He and Kirstie also provide some teasers on their “Moves Like Jagger” dance…

“I realized we might not have been the best dancing couple, but we were enjoying every week,” he explained. “I looked at Kirstie and saw the transformation and how much she loved being on the show. Everybody deserves that feeling. I hate to see anyone eliminated.”

Alas, next week there will be a double elimination. But Alley, who has a say in her and Chmerkovskiy’s dance, is hoping they won’t be one of the couples leaving.

She plans on doing a routine to Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” Watch for Chmerkovskiy to be appropriately decked out in tight pants and a loose vest.

“We’re going to see how you move like Jagger,” she told Chmerkovskiy.

“I have a big a–,” he replied, noting that therefore it might be difficult to fit into tight pants.

“Move like Jagger plus a half,” Alley says.

This is going to be a hoot. I can’t wait. Maks says even more about he and Kirstie’s new dance in his new blog at TV Guide. And good for Maks thinking better about Bristol. I wish I felt as good about her.

Also at Today, Maks comments on a 10 week season on Dancing With The Stars with no eliminations and someone is declared a winner at the end. Below is what he said about it….

The bad boy of the ballroom has a suggestion on how to eliminate any tensions that arise over debatable scoring and unjust eliminations.

“I’d like to see a season where everybody just dances,” he offered. “At ten weeks somebody gets called the winner. Everybody should get to experience (the whole competition.) I hate that Joey (Fatone) left.”

I LOVE the idea!! What do you think? Let’s get Miss Heidi’s thoughts…

Heidi: Heh – well, Maks better feel better about Bristol cuz Kirstie ALSO stayed over a better dancer. He’d kinda be a big fat hypocrite if he didn’t have this particular “awakening”.   As for his 10 week season with no eliminations idea – sure, that sounds cool.  But I think you’d still have to have the judging every week and then just add the scores every week for a cumulative score at the end of the season. That way you’d still have half judges and half viewer vote.  Because no matter how much people cry about the voters or whine about the judging, neither group can be trusted to get it right. There’s a better shot if both have a say.  It will never happen though, because part of ABC’s revenue is from voting, not to mention that people LIKE to vote – they feel involved, like they have a say. If you take that away…you have PBS ballroom.

DWTS15 Chelsie Hightower And Helio Castroneves Talk About The Double Elimination, Bristol Palin, And More

Chelsie Hightower and Helio Castroneves did a segment on Access Hollywood today. They were asked straight off about the double elimination coming up on Monday night which they weren’t expecting until the following week. Then Helio chats about how difficult it was to be in the bottom two this past week, but, they are grateful to still be in the competition. Kit and Billy didn’t understand how Bristol made it with the low scores she had. Helio says it’s all about votes and she and Mark must have them. Helio thinks people relates to Bristol’s shyness. With all that said, Helio and Chelsie hope to keep working on their dancing, try and be flawless, and do their best. More below in detail….

DWTS 15 – The Great Quickstep Debate: Breaking Hold vs. Not Breaking Hold

In his Access Hollywood interview from after Monday night’s show, Mark explained his reasons for “breaking hold” in he in Bristol’s quickstep – and he also insinuated that a few other couples also broke hold in their quicksteps this week, yet didn’t get called out by the judges.  So it got me thinking: did the judges, indeed, turn a blind eye to some couples’ rule-breaking, while calling out others?

First, a little bit of background as to why breaking hold in quickstep is such a big deal.  Earlier this year, I went into detail about it in one of my “Ask Courtney” posts – the basic gist is that quickstep is the only ballroom dance on DWTS that is only danced in the International Standard style, in which you cannot break hold at all, and they’ve carried that rule over to DWTS.  I personally think it’s kind of a dumb rule, considering that DWTS is not a real ballroom competition (and never will be), and considering that you can break hold in the waltz, foxtrot, Viennese waltz, and sometimes tango (the last one is whole different debate). Dancing With The Stars Karina Smirnoff Intervewed On Past Eating And Body Issues

The life of a dancer (and learning to be one) isn’t all glitter and roses and such is true for Karina Smirnoff and many others. Karina tells OK! Magazine she once had eating and body shape issues.

“I competed since I was 2 years old I was always trying to be in a certain weight class and a certain shape and I think when I turned professional there was a certain period when I literally only drank water for two weeks because I wanted to slim down,” Karina explained about the incident that happened in her teens.

“And you know unfortunately we diet and we do stuff to our bodies that is going to later on result in your metabolism and your digestion and the flora of the stomach. It’s always a problem. Sometimes you take dieting so far that it turns into anorexia or bulimia.

“But it’s so not healthy. There are so many ways to be fit and to be in great shape not to do damage to your body. But when you’re younger and you have issues with your image you go to extremes and unfortunately I don’t think we have a lot of information at hand to learn about everything that you can do without going to that extreme.”

Karina says it was this time in her life that she realized that she had to make a change and find healthier ways to stay in shape.

Wow, can you imagine worrying about you weight at only two years old? Thank goodness Karina found her way because what we do without her and her special way of amazing us on Dancing With The Stars every week?

You can read more on Karina’s personal story at OK! Magazine.

Kirstie Alley Talks Of DWTS, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, And Her New Book

Dancing With The Stars All Star Kirstie Alley writes of her two time partner (lol, did I just write that?) Maksim Chmerkovskiy in her new book with good things to say. She tells People that he’s in the “special category” and they have a special bond. Read why below. She also talks on Dancing With The Stars.

“There’s a chapter on Maks,” Alley, 61, says. “The book is about how men have influenced my life. Every chapter is named after an art. He’s the only one that’s the art of a name. The Art of Maks, because he’s a special category. He is a special guy.”

Alley reveals the secret to their close connection.

“What’s not known is that Russians and Kansans always bond,” she said, jokingly. “That’s the link that no one knows about.”

As for the latest season of DWTS, the actress says, “We feel like a bit of the underdogs of dancers, but if we have more weeks, we are changing this, and I will be freakin’ spectacular.”

Adds her partner with a laugh, “We’re going to sabotage other people’s rehearsals.”

You can read the full article at People. This is a book I wouldn’t mind reading. Note that “The Art of Men (I Prefer Mine al Dente)” is due out Nov. 6th.
