Mark Ballas Blogs About His Fight with Bristol and DWTS
I completely forgot that Marky has a blog for USA Today. Not as long or as detailed as Maks’ but it’ll do in a pinch. Once again I find myself on Mark’s side – people call off work every single day in a professional setting because of family issues. No big deal. That Bristol made it one just shows her own self centeredness. Particularly since they made the time up later in the day and, from what I’ve heard, she’s doing a third of the rehearsal time of the other couples anyway.
A lot of people have been asking why I “missed a rehearsal.” I had a family matter involving my mom that morning, and I did everything a cast member is supposed to regarding a rehearsal cancellation or a time change. I called production and told them I wouldn’t make it and that we should reschedule for that evening. We did make up the lost rehearsal time that night. And thankfully, my mom is doing much better.
On the upside, our rehearsals since then have been a million times better. We are much stronger as a team, and ready to push forward. I love what I do and love doing it for the fans. I always give 100% and am proud to be a member of this cast.
But why does he insist on tattoos?? 🙂
Ugh really bristol? Selfish much, she knows how much Mark loves and cares about his mom. So why is she blaming him for missing rehearsal, specially cause it was made up for. Mark’s body is HOT, Wow he lost the pounds that he gained this summer fast.
Bristol is the most selfish person I have seen. Mark’s Mom means the world to him and he did the right thing calling his producers and from the clip we’ve seen he texted her too. Glad everything is ok with his Mom.
Bristol should be ashamed of herself for her selfish behavior.
I agree about the tattoos – not a fan but I do like that they all have a meaning to them.
I posted this on another page hear and wanted it here, so sorry for the duplications:
Watching the 2 clips of Bristol and Mark “dance”, it pisses me off that after the phony bologna crying she did, you’d think she’d be back in that studio hustling her ass off…no matter what the dance or how fast. As a matter of fact, she must have asked Mark when they were standing on stage what rock n roll dance style was because it appeared he whispered to her and then you saw her facial expression go sour. A normal person would try harder to conquer something that is hard for them. If Kirstie is 60 and heavy and did bounces, hops, and kicks and flicks (not saying they were good, but she did them and tried hard), and if Sabrina is a bit heavy and can do it and do it with speed, well Bristol is younger and lighter than those 2 ladies. It’s nothing but sure laziness and from what I heard she is extremely uncomfortable with “bounce of the dance” because of her chest “bouncing”. If she was able to move a little better for her second jive in season 11, and she was heavier, she should be flying around that dance floor with Mark. So for her fans to be constantly tweeting him or posting on his fb page about missing…actually postponing a rehearsal because of his mom is disturbing. They can’t see at all that she is lazy and perhaps he figured what’s the big deal she was only practicing 3 hours to begin with anyway. When he mentioned 2 weeks ago about bringing it up to 5 hours she looked at him like, “What?” and then said, “We’ll see.” And as far as those fans saying what kind of friend is Mark for doing that (missing scheduled rehearsal and doing a video supporting Sabrina AND hanging out–going to dinner with Shawn)….well, what kind of friend is Bristol for not giving her all and understanding that this is her “friends” occupation and he is competitive and takes it seriously? I LMAO when she says she’s competitive, yet almost every results show we hear or get the vibe that she can’t wait to get it over with already. Yeah, Bristol, we can’t wait for you to get over with it already either!
Sorry to rant, but I am positive that “fans” who are attacking Mark do come here and read, so….I hope they enjoy reading this.
It’s pretty sad too that the producers let him look so bad to the judges and audience, let them think he just didn’t show up.
@Jess, that’s a VERY good point!
Well, if we don’t know by now that the producers could care less how the pros and even the celebs at times look, as long as the script looks good, well… we should know by now.
Lordy, I just lectured someone over on PureDerekHough for saying that Derek’s metabolism was changing and that perhaps he gained too much weight – guess I better mention it here as well.
Neither Mark nor Derek (nor Maks or Cheryl or anyone else on the show) should EVER be told that they are gaining too much weight. That is ridiculous and damaging to people’s body image. Sure, bodies change, the women and some of the men occasionally struggle and are heavier than THEY would like. But NONE of these people *need* to lose weight. That is crazy talk. Mark was talking about his ideal body weight – what he wants to weigh – not that he really needs to lose weight. I hope no one is reinforcing that idea to him. He’s always had a good body. It’s his ‘tude that needs work at times. 🙂
As for Derek, that man has been intentionally trying to gain weight for years – muscle weight. I’m happy as hell that he doesn’t appear to be shrinking to waif size over the course of the season like he used to. The man nearly fainted on camera in season 8!! I think he’s finally figured out how to keep the muscle. I wish I had his problems. 🙂
I hate that the TV version made it sound like Mark tried to lie about what happened by downplaying it to being late, when he missed an entire rehearsal and Bristol called him on it. Obviously that is not at all what happened. To me the “lie” was the worst part of the TV version and it is so sad that is what most people who watch the show are going to think happened. They owe Mark an apology.
Sometimes it’s the editing…and sometimes it’s NOT. In this case, it was the editing.
Editing to create sympathy for Bristol. sigh….
Mark has been conducting himself like a pro throughout this BP thing from what I’ve seen, showing a lot of dignity and maturity. I like this blog, like the way he fielded B’s manipulative thrusts in the package last week. Seems like a lonely position to be in.
Seems like the only way he can “win” in this situation is to keep on trying to teach Bristol to be the best dancer she can be – otherwise they’ll challenge his abilities and accuse him of sabotage to put an end to the discomfort of his situation. Unfortunately, the more he succeeds with Bristol, the longer she stays. *sigh*
I am sorry I didn’t mean to criticize mark’s body image. I love mark no matter what weight he is, but he has been constantly tweeting about trying to lose weight. One fan told him that he should lose any and his body is perfect and then mark got all mad and said its no one business, he just wants to be his ideal weight.
Who would ever say Mark or Derek needs to lose weight needs glasses…those two boys are eye candy…along with Maks and several others…it just reminds me of the Taylor Swift song…”Why’d you have to be so mean?” In regard to Bristol she is only practicing 3 hours a day…well that explains a lot….some of them are dancing 5, 8, and even more. Get a grip Bristol. I say honestly I am a huge Derek fan…but a trip to Mark’s site might be in my future just to defend him. How Silly!!!!
Mark shouldn’t be tweeting about his weight if he doesn’t want anyone to discuss it. That’s on him being an idiot.
I believe that fan stated he shouldn’t be concerned with losing weight that he should be concerned with training Bristol. that is why he got mad. I think all of the pros look amazing. I wish I had the body of any of the female pros. They all look amazing.
Yup, and he tweeted that Bristol fan back and told her where to go and how to get there….
It always astounds me, the things that fans will tweet to these people. Dictatorial little concern trolls.
Mark should stop responding to them. He just comes off looking poor and insecure IMO when he does that. Cheryl, Derek and Maks get tweeted so much worse.
Feels to me like Mark is throwing Bristol under the bus in his blog:
“This week’s theme is “Rock ‘n’ Roll,” which is one of my favorite styles and favorite genres of music. In terms of dance style, it calls for a mix of the Lindy Hop, jitterbug and the like. Bristol, however, is finding the speed and over-the-top personality of the dance challenging.
I had to completely change the creative approach and choreography, which is hard because this season is “All-Stars” and the bar has been raised that much higher. I just hope we can push through and make this routine as great as it should be.”
Telling the world that he had to completely change the choreography because she’s too slow and slack-jawed is pretty damn harsh. I can understand why he did it, because she (and the producers) threw him under the bus last week, but this is not going to work out well. This couple should go home because it is clearly a toxic relationship.
I feel so sorry for Mark. He has now been marked as an enemy by the Palin fanatics, and they will go to great lengths to make his life miserable. The producers really shouldn’t be letting this happen to Mark. It’s particularly unfair because I do think he has honestly tried his best to be a good partner to Bristol. But this blog indicates to me he’s done. Hope the voters allow him to be put out of his misery soon, but I don’t think it is likely.
I really hope Mark’s career and life don’t suffer because of his encounter with the Palins.
IMO, Mark is all about getting attention, so I don’t feel sorry for him at all that he is partnered with Bristol. Bristol gets him a lot of attention and too bad he doesn’t like some of it.
Well, the truth hurts. And the truth is, Bristol is not putting in the time and is not a great dancer.
Really, I don’t think Mark has anything to be scared of. If the Palin’s were all that, Bristol’s show wouldn’t have been CANCELLED.
Wow, I see there are some readers that are hellbent on making asses of themselves tonight…trying to tell everyone how to think & feel. Guess I better have my deleting finger primed & ready…
@Melissa, I think Mark just loves the attention. He could ignore those tweets like the other celebs.
