Dancing With The Stars Co-Host Brooke Burke-Charvet Reveals She Has Thyroid Cancer
Today Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet released a video at her Modern Mom You Tube channel to announce that she was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She explains that a nodule was discovered on her thyroid and after a series of tests, it was determined to be cancerous and her thyroid will have to be removed. Below is more in detail. Let’s hope and pray she will be ok!
I really nope she is OK, sending positive thoughts her way!!!
Ex husband #1’s two younger sisters both suffered from thyroid cancer almost 30 years ago and both of them are fine today. Brooke is strong and healthy in ever other respect and I’m sure she can beat this. *good vibes heading her way*
What a sweet, sweet woman! Yup, I’m sending good vibes her way too!
Sounds like they caught it very early and Brooke will likely make a full recovery. Good for her – sending healing energy.
I do understand where she’s coming from, though, with how scary things have been for her – her story reminds me a lot of Mama Spence’s: go to the doctor for a routine check-up, walk out with a devastating diagnosis. It’s an eye-opener.
Sending good thoughts and good vibes in her direction. I don’t know if she’s going to read this, but every little bit of support can help put a ray of sunshine in a gloomy day. Take good care of yourself, and don’t worry about those scars, Brooke! Your health comes first and we’ll love you anyway!
Stay Strong Brooke, Stay positive… Everything is going to be just fine.
I hope she is ok, cancer is so freaking scary. She has such beautiful family.
I had so many cases in my family that scares the shit out of me (mom, granddad, uncles), mom happened just like Brooke, routine check-up, and thank god she is just fine, but the rest were not as lucky, too advance to make a full recovery.
Sound like they caught it in time, thankfully. My sister had her thyroid removed because it was extremely large and the dr was concerned it was cancerous. When going thru the process of what would happen if it was cancerous, he said that as cancers go, this one was one people recover from the easiest. Having lost a lot people in our family to other types of cancer, that was encouraging to hear. Luckily it wasn’t cancerous. Hope for the best for Brooke!
Even in the best case scenario, her thyroid will be removed and she will have to start taking thyroid replacement medications, it is nothing compare to cancer, but still a serious condition.
I wish her well and hope she will recover quickly and will be able to manage her future thyroid issues easily!!!
Yeah, I have thyroid problems galore, radiation, pills, etc. I still have the gland but it doesn’t work much any longer. Lucky for Brooke, thyroid cancer is about the most treatable form of cancer there is, especially when caught early. It’ll be fascinating to see her post-surgery, as I was always extremely thin and fit and started to struggle with my weight afterwards. It’ll be an inspiration to see her hopefully retain her awesome figure.
Oh my God!!! Sending her the best of wishes on her recovery! Hang in there, Brooke.
That’s so scary! Hopefully surgery will take care of it. I’m assuming she’s waiting to get it done when DWTS ends? I still can’t imagine what it’s like knowing you have cancer and waiting for surgery. Good luck to her and her family.
I certainly hope everything goes well for her. She’s lucky they caught it early. Having known someone with the same type cancer, thyroid removal resulted in a complete recovery. I hope she knows there are many people sending positive thoughts her way.
My thoughts and prayers are with you girl. Your gonna come out of this
stronger than ever. Early detection is the best cure.
I have a friend who just went through this. A year later shes cancer free! I have faith Brooke will be just fine. 🙂
Sorry to hear it. I believe she will be okay. Wow, Jennifer Grey had Thyroid cancer as well and she’s doing amazing. It does sound like she caught it in the early stages. God Bless her!!
My thoughts and prayers are with her and wish her a speedy recovery. I know too well when she said she feels fine and this was just found on a routine checkup. I had that devastating news delivered to me only a different type of cancer. Happy to say that after a year of treatment including surgery, chemo, radiation and chemo again I have been cancer free for many years. It does sound like they found hers very early which is always good and she will be fine.
So often, you be-bop to the dr’ for something routine….and all of a sudden it’s tests, surgical biopsies and on and on. As Court said..eye-opener.
Only wonderful thoughts and wishes for Brooke. I first saw her on DWTS and she struck me from the first moments as a caring Mom and lovely, ambitious person. he had just had Shaya. I think 4 mos b4 starting the show and something I’ll never forget, her and Derek dancing with baby Shaya between them. So sweet. And when I saw her determination and grit, I was voting like crazy for her , even tho it seemed so improbable she’d win being up against others who seemed like they would have much bigger fan bases. It was a sweet victory for both of them, and Derek’s first.
You’ll be fine Brooke cause you will fight through it just like all the other tough things you have faced. xoxo
Thoughts and prayers for her and her family to get through this tough time.
What an open and honest video. I’ve never been more impressed by her – I think it took courage to take control of the situation…
Now that I’m thinking clearer, you talked about the scar.
But you have the best make-up team @the show. I bet they will
all be arguing who gets the pleasure3 of doing you!
She seems scared in the video, and I don’t blame her one bit, she’s earned the right. I know she says she’s fine, and will be fine, but the word C-A-N-C-E-R is one of the scariest words out there, and it doesn’t matter what you put in front, or what the odds for which particular type…. It’s still Cancer.
Many hugs for her, and her family, and for being brave enough to share what she’s kept to herself for so long….
Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery! 🙂
I offer my best wishes to Brooke. Despite having made fun of her on this show, i still think she’s a wonderful person. I love how honest she is in this video. For Brooke’s sake I hope this isn’t mentioned on Monday’s show; I can’t imagine how awkward that would be. I hope everything goes well, so she can be done with this as quickly as possible.
BTW, thyroid biopsies themselves are not fun at all; depending on who does them, it ranges from painful to very painful. Sometimes it takes a day or two to recover. I really feel bad for Brook, wish her a speedy recovery.
Hope all goes well for Brooke as she beats her thyroid cancer into submission and kicks it out of her life. Thank heavens for early detection!!
I’ll admit it- I don’t like brooke as a host. I mock her, and every season i wish for a new host, but I feel bad for her. She’s a great person and an amazing mom, and cancer is super scary. Best, best wishes to her and her family and many hopes that she has a speedy recovery and that the surgery and everything to follow goes well <3
