He’s sambaed with Shannon, jived with Jennie and rumbaed with Ricki. Now Derek Hough is set to tango with Tacoma. And you can be a part of it!
Hough, who has danced his way into the hearts of viewers nation-wide on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (DWTS), is the featured speaker at MultiCare’s 2013 “Do Something Healthy” event.
Hough is a master dancer and choreographer. With a different partner each season, he’s won the DWTS competition multiple times. He’s also been nominated for three Emmy awards and played the male lead in the critically acclaimed London stage version of Footloose.
But according to Dorn, it’s more than Hough’s talent that makes him a perfect speaker for “Do Something Healthy.” “He’s just so encouraging and so positive,” she says. “I think he’ll be very popular.”Hough will take part in a moderated discussion, addressing issues such as being active, reaching your goals and finding inspiration.
But he won’t spend all of his time behind a microphone. He’ll put on his dancing shoes too! And at some point, he’ll trip the light fantastic and woo the crowd with his musical moves. Before his presentation, he’ll act as a judge for a MultiCare dance competition for teens as well. Groups of local teens have spent the past few weeks filming audition videos for a panel of judges to review. The top three groups will be selected to compete live at the event.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. Lance Armstrong may not be able to race the Tour de France again. But ABC definitely wants him on Dancing With the Stars.
Sources say the ABC reality hit offered the former professional cyclist a spot on the upcoming spring edition of the veteran reality series. Armstrong declined.
Though the network approached Armstrong before his recent doping confession, we suspect Armstrong’s high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey hasn’t dulled the network’s interest.

If true, I’m sad. I’d love to see Lindsay Lohan dance and a what a cool way to show another side to herself than what tabloids report!!! I love her as an actress and nothing will change that. Below is more from TMZ for how Lindsay turned down a huge offer from Dancing With The Stars!!
Lindsay Lohan’s ego might be her downfall — because TMZ has learned, she just shut down a lucrative offer to do “Dancing with the Stars” … because she doesn’t want to do reality TV.
Sources close to Lindsay tell us, the actress was made several offers to join the DWTS cast this upcoming season — offers that maxed out at $550,000.
But Lindsay — who still owes hundreds of thousands in back taxes — shut them down, telling friends she’d never consider doing reality TV … she wants to stick to films.

Is the former Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, contemplating an offer from Dancing With The Stars? Today, the NY Post reported that Katherine was in New York last week being photographed for the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. She was also seen at an eatery and overheard saying that Dancing With The Stars offered her a spot on the show. More below and the link!
Webb was also overheard saying that she was offered a spot in the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” but did not say whether she would participate.
As Heidi said to me privately (and I agree with her), take this “with a huge grain of salt”.

Dancing With The Stars Henry Byalikov announced that he is helping to choreograph a new “King Kong” musical. The new musical is set to open in June 2013 at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in Australia.
