Conflicting Stories About Maks Chmerkovskiy And Dancing With The Stars Season 16
I love this take of Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy, do you?! This past week, the two brothers were seen shopping together Jacob and Company in New York City, NY. Maks then travelled to Los Angeles, CA on Friday. Today Val is on his way to Los Angeles as I type.
Also note that there are conflicting stories about Maks dancing on Dancing With The Stars this season. As you know from TMZ Friday, Maks “spoke with producers” and “informed them that he wouldn’t be returning for the upcoming season”. TMZ titled the article that he was “DONE”. Then Saturday, RumorFix (who we’ve found is NOT always a reliable Dancing With The Stars source in the past) said a source told them that “he asked producers for a break this season so he can fulfill some TV and movie commitments and they were very supportive.” Now today (Sunday), Access Hollywood is reporting producers did not ask him to come back to Dancing With The Stars this season. Stay tuned, according to @DWTSgossip, Maks is suppose to speak about it Monday (tomorrow) when hopefully we will find out from the horses mouth what happened and if there has been any changes?
Picture above courtesy of @DWTSMaksimFans at twitter who has lots more. They are a good one to follow for all the most reliable news on Maks.
ADDING: Thanks to Lois, here are some pictures of an event Kelly Monaco and Val had this past week.
I think he will be back. He has pulled things like this before that makes us think he won’t be.
Every. Single. Season. Maks manages to make it all about him. I would not be surprised if he wasn’t asked back and that #outwiththeold was his typical defensive tweeting. That, and “talking” on Monday about why he won’t be on the show. :::rolls eyes::: This game is old, Maks.
I really don’t think so, Lois – in the past he’s been really ambiguous, saying things like “I might be back, I might not” or “I might take a season off”, but he’s never LIED about whether or not he was coming back. This doesn’t sound very open-ended – this sounds like a done deal.
Oh, I’m sure we’ll hear his side on Monday – although I thought Lois was talking future seasons, not this one in particular.
Does it strike anyone else as interesting that Access Hollywood gets this story today and it directly conflicts with what Maks gave TMZ?? Me thinks that the producers want their side out there too. 🙂
I remember how the hours leading up to the season 14 cast announcement on GMA managed to turn into the “Will Maks be back or not???” happy hour. ‘Twas quite annoying, especially since none of the other pros got the same hype. At least if he gets the explaining out of the way tomorrow, he won’t be stealing focus from the pros who are on this season.
Hehe, I actually have to give Maks props for his diva-ish tendencies – only Maks could take a conflict w/the judges in season 13 and turn it into an “exclusive interview” on GMA, manage to dominate the attention in the season 14 cast announcement, and trump media about season 15 being Derek’s “swan song” with ambiguous claims about season 15 being his “last season” too – except not really, because he still had 2 seasons left on his contract. Dude has mastered the fine art of shifting focus to himself…or maybe it’s just been Lizzie all along.
Couldn’t agree more! Something is up and I tend to believe AH more than the other sources being they have been more reliable in the past.
Much ado about nothing, really. Just makes him look either like a massive famewhore or the boy who cried wolf. A lot of media is getting on to it too. Saw quite a few on twitter about “Is Maks out *for real* this time?”
I have to say, I wish Derek had a tenth of the DIVA tendencies that Maks has – maybe he would toot his own horn for a change. Maks is in a vacuum – no competing voices to drown him out. He benefits by no one else acting the same way.
Interesting indeed and will Maks never learn. I swear it’s evolution in reverse. Of course the producers are going to put you in your place, again, Maks if you’re going to tell tall tales like he’s the one who called the producers just a few days before cast reveal and informed them he wouldn’t be doing the season. Give me a break. I say ‘again’ because it reminds me of Maks taking public digs, at the producers of the show that gives him his paycheck and tv time, when he was trying to make excuses for his behavior and packages with Hope. Big mistake, imo.
Remember, It’s HIS show… LOL He calls all the shots.
I hope he never returns, to me, his attitude, behavior, and his teaching methods are questionable.
It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the producers were the ones that didn’t ask him to return, afterall, they are doing quite a good job of “Cleaning out” this season.
If the producers did really get rid of him im glad they finally came to there senses. Though he should of been gone many seasons ago.
I don’t know if I can explain this how I mean, but: there’s a way he gets to be a diva because people are attracted to him. Lots of people try to get their 15 minutes of fame but fail because they lack some “it” quality that makes people want to know about them. Like him or not, there’s something about him that sets him apart, not just tall dark handsome, who really cares what Dmitry does (I know there are Dmitry fans but not wider media attention). Lacey has made comments, Louis has…but no one outside the immediate dwts world really noticed or cared. Or so it seems to me.
The producers don’t “give” Maks his paycheck, he earns it. By being on the show and making his fans happy. Believe or not, there are a lot of people who like him. I don’t give a flying flip whether they are giving Maks time off , or didn’t ask him back. End result is he won’t be on. That will make some people very happy, and some people not happy. Those of you who don’t like him, enjoy his absence. He’s gone. Your wishes have come true. Now I will turn my attention to a pitcher of peach sangria.
Ok, I may make a few people unhappy here but I have to say this. I do agree that Maks goes overboard for attention and I’m actually hoping that he’s not going to be coming back to the show. But he’s not the only one with a huge ego. I’m talking about Derek. And this is why some of you may not be happy with me. It’s not that I don’t care about Derek, because I do appreciate his talent. However, as I recall, he made this monumental deal about not coming back to the show and this being his last time on DWTS and all that. Recently he sent out a tweet “Just got the call wasn’t sure if I was able to do this season because of my other projects . But worked it out so I can do both. #pumped”. So, while that may make a lot of people very happy because you’re very loyal to him (that’s not a bad thing), it really pisses me off. This is just my opinion, so feel free to respond, but this just seems to me to be a deal worked out between Derek and the producers to get him his 4th MB. And of course that remains to be seen when we see who he’s paired with. I would be very surprised if he isn’t paired with a ringer or some celeb who has potential to get to the finale. I’m just feeling like we spent all last season hearing Derek get all the attention (much deserved as it was) and it’s clear that he’s way ahead of the rest of the bunch, so to put him back in now — I would be very surprised if he doesn’t get his 4th MB and that just isn’t fair to the other pros.
Let me apologize for being OT. I also have another topic about Kym, Anna, and Chelsie not being asked back, yet Cheryl will be. Sorry again for OT. Just really pissed off.
I totally agree with you, Auntie. And Diane, you bring up a very good point.
I just hope there’s another pro around that will call the producers out for asking and expecting too much of the celebrities as the weeks go on and on as he did last season.
And I totally agree with you Evaine and Auntie!
@Jess
There is something about Maks that sets him apart. Believe it or not Maks was the reason I started watching DWTS in the first place. But his it factor was his natural funny personality. Maks’ it factor wasn’t his abusive, out of control ego. That’s what, imo, ruined it for me. And thats all on Maks. How you handle the attention stardom brings is no one else’s fault.
And btw, I’m not saying any of Maks’ abusive, arrogant behavior the past few seasons is why he wasn’t asked back. The producers may haven’t given it more than a business is business glance at it, as was Anna, Chelsie and whoever else was not asked back. But once Maks made a public statement that ‘he’ was the one who called the producers of a multi-million dollar show just a few days before the cast is announced of which he is an employee, he left the producers no choice but to tell the truth and call him out which is what I bet we’ll see shortly.
@ Auntie
I respectfully disagree. Yes, of course Maks and all the performers earn the money they get paid but many other people could have been picked besides them so what I meant by what I said was Maks comes off as being ungrateful, to me, just my opinion, when he should have come off as appreciative and just say thank you so much for the exposure and the career it’s given me and going to continue to give me. Just for me personally.
I don’t mean to sound like I’m dancing on his grave. He could be back for season 17 or not and he’ll have a career no matter what. But after watching him abuse Hope and then do it again with Melissa and blame her for his behavior was too disturbing for me. I know a lot of people love him and that’s great. Just voicing my opinion, not asking for any agreement. And peach sangria sounds amazing. 🙂
I’m of the feeling that Maks is not on Season 16 but that he is contracted to appear on future seasons. Didn’t he have two seasons left in his contract? He may have asked not to come back for this season, not only because he wants to pursue other projects but to avoid people from watching for drama between him and Peta.
Please point to where Derek himself actually made a big deal about not coming back to the show. Give me a link, a tweet, something that shows he actually did what you said, Diane. He got weepy at the end of last season, but never actually said he was done. He made a comment in one interview about this possibly being a good time to step away…when he was ASKED. See, here’s the thing – most people, myself included, ASSUMED he was moving on because he is setting a bunch oh things in motion that would mean he was too busy. But he never actually said it. He never says anything, which is just as annoying as famewhore maks. But make a big deal? No, not really…and certainly not every single season like clockwork. The two men aren’t even comparable, in terms of making big deals. He did the opposite in recent months, but most of his fans assumed he was hedging. He said repeatedly that he didn’t know about s16, that he might not be on, but that he would be back in the fall – but we didn’t want to hear that – I certainly didn’t. If one tweet is this big a deal to you, you should definitely step away from maks. No, I think you confuse what Derek’s fans say with what Derek himself has said.
How in the hell you make the massive – and totally illogical – leap to this being all some conspiracy to get him another MBT is a well beyond me. I can’t even wrap my mind around it, actually. Last season he created some of the best dances in the history of the show…with a ringer…and didn’t win. Certainly should have…but didn’t. He will never win this show again, IMO. THAT is what’s not fair. If the other pros don’t win? Boo fucking hoo. When they have the talent or the BALLS to create dances like Derek can, then they will deserve it.
But more importantly…why would the producers care if Derek gets another mirror ball? You think he gets good partners because they want him to get a trophy? Or because he makes people look good (as opposed to emotional wrecks) so good people ask for him? Or do they want him on the show as long as possible? If it’s that…then why is that, eh?? Ask yourself that one. I assume they threw money at him to get him to work out his schedule. Why would they do that?
A pro calling the producers out in public? VERY unprofessional. Why not be an adult an go to their offices like most employees would do?
Jess, it’s very easy to call up tmz and give them a story. And if you can afford a decent (or not so decent, if you know what I mean) publicist then you get more attention. You know publicists spend all their time lobbying to get their people in the sexiest man alive magazines, on E! And the entertainment shows. It’s an entire business that has nothing do with talent. Just look at the kardashians, fer gods sake.
Yes, some people have “it” and that helps…but NOT getting attention often has to do with not having a publicist more than not having “it”.
Not once have I ever thought of Derek as being egotistical and only the extreme opposite. He’s one of the most quiet and humble people on this earth. For the last couple of months, he’s been working on projects and won’t even let his fans in on what they are because he’s so humble.
I seriously doubt Maks asked to be let go for the season since it doesn’t look like he has another job, but I totally expect him to spin like a top. Derek is doing quite a bit of spinning himself though.
I read on this website (via TMZ) that Maks had quit on Friday afternoon. Later that night I saw on either Access Hollywood or Extra a brief interview with him that looked like it was taken a few days ago where he talked about how he was looking forward to the new season. His response to why he broke up with Peta was “I want what I want”, such a douche. But the relevant thing is he sounded like he fully expected and was looking forward to being on the show just a few days ago. Did no one else see this interview? So I believe it was not his choice to not be on the show this season. I believe it was the show’s, and the TMZ article was his people trying to put a better spin on his absence. I do still think it’s likely he’ll be on a future season.
I always hear of Maks fans getting upset and seeing this supposed hypocracy where Derek is concerned. I don’t get it. All of the pros are proud of their accomplishments, and rightfully so. They’re all straightforward about admitting so, and making a success for themselves in this business.
But IMO Maks and Derek are polar opposites in how they conduct themselves. Maks has an ego that doesn’t allow room for anyone else’s opinion or credit for anyone else where credit is due. That’s always been his problem, and instead of learning from it, I see him making jokes about it, seeming to mock everyone who calls him on it, including TPTB. I love his sense of humor, and his larger than life personality (minus the ego), and his good intentions. But I think it would be to his advantage if the people who cared about him held him accountable.
He’s hurt his partners’ chances, his own future career if his sex appeal fades, and even worse, his idolizing brother.
I was shocked when Val said he only cares about his fam (or clique), and nobody else matters, and so proudly as though it were the right thing to say. That’s cold. It’s also unwise since it puts pros and their fans in a position where they can’t support him without looking bad. It sounds like something Maks would say.
But Val’s actions don’t match it. He seems to be a more honorable and vulnerable person than Maks. I see him happily cheering on the pros outside of the “fam.” So I may be wrong, but I think he gets those bad ideas from Maks. Derek is a better influence and example to the new pros on how to show pride through hard work and respecting everyone, and putting his frustration into his art. And keeping quiet.
What day was it on, Nancy?? I saw some stuff about this on Twitter too and couldn’t tell when it aired. If I knew which day I could go back and look at it.
Spinning?? LOL. We’ll see.
I’m actually starting to find it amusing that people say Derek is “spinning” and “made a big deal” when you can turn and look at Maks, who clearly alerted TMZ to him “quitting” the show and will be “talk” about it on Monday. Like he does every season.
I’m just happy that Derek is finally being a tiny bit forthcoming. Even if that ONE TWEET looks like spin. LOL
It aired just this past Friday, February 22nd. Extra and Access Hollywood air back to back from 7PM to 8PM where I live, I don’t remember which one it was on, I wasn’t watching closely, it was just on in the background. It looked like it might have been taped in his dance studio, a woman, I THINK he was dancing with Alec Baldwin’s wife, he was joking he’d like to have her as his next celeb partner. At some point they asked him about breaking up with Peta, so it couldn’t have been taped too long ago.
@NancyM
No, where did you see the “I want what I want” interview. I haven’t seen it. Can you find it?
I’m going to look for it right now, Ashley. Better not be on AH though – don’t think I have that one.
Just watched the interview. So…something happened very recently. He says he wants this chick on the show as his partner and then says “It’s not too late, there are still a couple days left” then he says that he’s looking forward to a fun season, no drama. It seems very clear that as recently as thursday or so Maks thought he was dancing this season.
So, now I have to wonder. Maks is suddenly out and then, just as suddenly, Derek is back in – yeah, they are two very different types but when whatever happened with Maks happened could they have done a shift similar to season 11? It was season 11, right Court?? Derek did say that if they needed him, he would be there. So…was Maks assuming they had a partner for him when they didn’t…or was there a blow up and Derek got the call??
Thank you Heidi!
Yer welcome. He seemed very upbeat and happy. And, FWIW, in print what he says about Peta seems douchy – it’s not as bad when you see the actual interview. The way it’s edited does Maks NO favors, though.
Maks could learn a few things from Val, Val is straightforward and doesnt do the “im not coming back” shit that Maks does EVERY SINGLE SEASON. Val’s much more mature and talented IMHO … only problem w Val is tht he’s too honest at times
ROTFL!! Misogynistic and entitled Val?? I’ll give him this, he’s a better actor than his brother when in front of the DWTS cameras. He has a TON of growing up to do.
Obviously something happened on Friday because Maks, Anna, Chelsie, and Kym aren’t coming back and, except for possibly Kym b/c of her conflict with CA, they didn’t ask not to come back. It was a complete surprise, not their choice.
Just to reiterate what some people have already said, Diane K, Derek himself has said many times that he’d be back if they needed him/had a partner for him. It’s his fans who keep saying he should move on from the show. And as far as Derek’s tweet of coming back this season, it’s pretty obvious it was a last minute ordeal. In past seasons (meaning prior to All-Stars season), he’s always said he’d love to be back, but nobody knows for sure, haven’t gotten the call yet, yada yada, etc. Season 15 was the first season he hinted that he may not be back, and it was likely due to wanting to produce shows and pursuing other ventures and whatnot. But like you said, something probably happened and the producers asked him back, and for whatever reason (maybe he’s still contractually obliged to the show, maybe it’s a chance to showcase more choreography with Allison, or maybe he just likes doing the show and cleared up the time), he said yes.
What I don’t understand is how you interpret that as him having an ego. Maybe you depend on this site too much for info? (Not that that’s a bad thing; this site is fantastic. Thanks Heidi, Courtney, and Vogue!) Because it should be noted that, so far, this site is the only site that’s making a huge deal over Derek’s tweet. Every other media outlet is publishing article after article on ‘What’s Up With Maks?’.
As far as Derek getting good celebrities, like PH mentioned above, a lot of celebrities ask for him. Nicole Scherzinger did, and I think Jennifer Grey said she would only do the show if she got him as her partner. It’s not like the producers are going to turn down someone as well-known as Jennifer Grey, so yeah, they paired her with Derek.
Well then, maybe it was just for the sake of production when Derek was crying during his last rehearsal with SJ and it was said how sad it is that he’s leaving. No one has ever seen him cry on any previous season, but this one seemed particularly difficult to end BECAUSE he intended not to be back.
His ego is apparent when he feels he can break the rules without repercussions or better yet, not care about the repercussions. I’m not saying he’s not a great dancer/choreographer. IMHO he’s world class. But for that same reason, that, for a lack of better terminology, ages him out of this show. He is so far ahead of everyone else, there isn’t going to be a competition anymore. We’ve seen all the other pros. They couldn’t come close to his range of ability in the All-Stars and we know Tony only won because of the “poor Tony hasn’t won a MB” vote. Any of the new pros won’t be able to compete with him. Can you see Lindsey Arnold being a threat, or Sharna? I sure don’t. So, if none of the older pros are going to be able to keep up with him and none of the newest pros will be able to keep up with him, the conclusion I come to is Derek wins. Good for him, but why should the others compete at all?
So while it may appear that I’m bashing Derek, I’m actually complimenting him. He doesn’t belong on DWTS anymore. He should be out spreading his wings and pursuing other things or immersing himself in his newest endeavors. By his staying in the game, someone else may very well not win that MB. That might seem like no big deal, but to those who are competing, it truly is.
And the reason why any celebrity would insist on choosing Derek is because they know they have the best chance of winning, of course. But, no matter how much a Cloris Leachman or Bristol Palin might want him, TPTB would never pair him that way. He will more likely be paired with, someone who insisted she dance with him, and someone in the category of Aly Reisman who is agile and young.
The problem, Diane, is none of your arguments really work and I have to wonder why that is. We KNOW the back story of Derek’s crying ONLY because we have an inside source. Otherwise, it’s all assumption and projection. And just maybe he didn’t intend to come back but that emotion made him realize how much he loved doing the show.
No repercussions for breaking the rules?? Are you INSANE??? He certainly isn’t rewarded for it!! Go back and look at the scores len gave him – all that said, he only broke the rules ONCE last season. Once. You show that you’ve bought into the manipulation of the producers completely and totally, so I suppose I should thank you for that. You make the point of my series that I did not that long ago. So…thanks. 🙂 Point made. In any case, if his “breaking of the rules” is ego – well, this is one time that it’s not pejorative.
And do I really need to remind you that Shawn was the very first partner Derek has had that was not only younger than him, but younger than 30?? Young an agile – Ricki and Jennifer? How about those who aren’t old, but are not great dancers?? Maria? Joanna? Lil’ Kim? Shannon? Jennie?? They did well because of him, not because they were born with talent.
You think you’re complementing him – but it’s very passive aggressive and much of your argument is rooted in myth. But again – I suppose I should thank you because you prove my point that people hear the same stories over and over and they start to believe it. I also love the rationale of “He’s so good he shouldn’t be on” – it’s punishing him for his talent, which is what Len did all of last season. You want fair – cut that shit out. All the people whining about fairness don’t look at it from that side. It is, once again, turning DWTS into pee wee baseball. Everyone gets a trophy cuz they can’t measure up to Derek. Not Derek’s fault, but too bad. Yeah, that’s fair.
ETA: I should also add that I also agree he shouldn’t be on the show because he’s capable of so much more – not for the reasons you list, however. If the other pros can’t keep up with Derek, that is THEIR problem. They should look at it as “bar raised” and raise their games accordingly. Tony certainly tried to do that – I’m not sure he accomplished it, but he tried.
In the package with SJ, nobody said Derek was leaving. Derek just got emotional (which, yes, is different for him), but it was everybody else who made the assumption that he wouldn’t be back. Guess we were all wrong.
Aly Raisman has mentioned several times that she’d like to be paired with Val, so unless she’s changed her mind since then (or she doesn’t contractually demand Val as a pro), she’s probably going to be paired with him.
Pertaining to Cloris Leachman or Bristol Palin asking not getting him–I agree. TPTB are going to pair him with the biggest star who asks/demands him. In that particular season, Jennifer Grey was the biggest name, so she got paired with him. Compare that to season 13, in which Ricki Lake (probably–and I say “probably” because, like Jennifer, she continuously said he was the best, right from the get-go, which leads me to believe she’d requested him) was paired with him. Was Ricki a young, agile competitor? Was she even close to being the most naturally graceful female celebrity? No. Far from it. But, she was the most well-known of the female celebs, which is probably why TPTB paired her with Derek.
I completely disagree pertaining to the rule-breaking. If he felt he could “break the rules without repercussions,” he’d be angry for being knocked down points, but every time he chooses to break the rules, he acknowledges that the judges have to deduct points. In the packages, he explicitly states that he plans to break the rules, and he accepts that the judges will deduct points. He knows the repercussions, and he makes the choice to get a lower score for the sake of the dance. That’s one of the things I admire about him the most actually: that he doesn’t backtalk.
And as far as Derek supposedly winning every season, I also disagree. You said it yourself: poor Tony only won because he’s never won, and that’s exactly the reason people are disinclined to vote for Derek and his partner. Yes, Derek’s one of the best choreographers, but he’s also the pro that’s won more times than anyone else. With all the new blood on the show–so many pros who haven’t won–people are going to be even more adamant for someone who hasn’t won yet to win.
I guess the “no repercussions” gang feel he should be drawn and quartered…or spanked (I volunteer)…or banished from the silly, glittery dancing show forever. 🙂 That’s not at ALL over the top, no siree.
For breaking that ONE rule last season. Remember, claiming that there wasn’t enough in hold dancing is SUBJECTIVE – it’s not a rule. The lift that was a catch? Again, subjective, not a rule. Even the “rule” states judges discretion. If you think more rules were broken than those in the quickstep – give examples, please.
Ditto to everything you said #37 – Princess Heidi.
Thank you for that.
HUH Diane K? ….because Derek is “world class” means he should leave to give the others a chance who have less ability or who aren’t in the same league, etc? Please!!! For one thing, the rest of the dancers are just as decorated as Derek. You speak on Sharna, etc as if this is her/their first rodeo. She has been down this road just as long as the others since they were just little, won competitions, worked on movies choreographing, starred in Broadway shows, etc etc.
Also, why is it if someone is really good that means they shouldn’t compete anymore and they should move on? If you had a son or daughter who worked hard and was really good at something and was winning (such as in ice skating, tennis, etc), how would you feel if someone said, “Sorry, you don’t belong competing or on this show anymore because you are too good now.” That just doesn’t make sense to me. Sorry, it just sounds like jealousy and that you can’t handle it because someone else is a better dancer than your favorite. You want them to win so bad, you want their competitor to leave so they can do it. Well, is that really winning if you eliminate the competition?
PH, you are most certainly welcome if I have proven your point. And no, I am certainly not insane.
I’m not punishing him for his talent Heidi. He’s graduated from the class and went back to take the class again. Where did I say that everyone should get a trophy? If you want to use the baseball analogy, it’s like a varsity player playing with the pee wees. Who wins? They are not in his league. He’s head and shoulders above the rest of them which we clearly witnessed time and time again last season. Perhaps that’s a backhanded compliment, but a compliment it is. I said he’s world class and I meant that. But we’ve got a varsity player playing with the pee wees here. And the proof of that is he’s won the MB 3 times. It’s not as if he’s so much better than everyone but can never seem to win. The only reason he didn’t win last season is for the reason I stated previously, poor Tony. I saw the look on the judges faces when that announcement was made. Surprise. Derek should have won. And if they were judging fairly and if the viewers voted fairly, he would have won. That’s where the fairness plays in. The judging, which appears to be in the center of all the problems with DWTS.
My first thought when I heard Derek was back in was oh no. Now none of them will have a chance to win. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, but perhaps I’m the only one willing to say it.
Sorry, Diane, doesn’t fly. At all. Derek has been on the show ten seasons and only won three times. If you were even close to right he would have won more often. And he’s only one trophy ahead of Mark, Cheryl and Kym. So, while I agree that he is head and shoulders above them in choreography, your argument really doesn’t fly. No one else can win?? Karina has one, Tony has one, Peta has one (all three SINCE the last time he’s won)…of everyone slated to be on this coming season so far and who have been on the show before, only Val is sans trophy. And Tristan, assuming he’s on. And they’re both newbies. So, clearly – they ALL have a chance to win. You may be the only one saying it because it’s irrational.
So…try again.
*sigh* The rule-breaking cries just make me want to bang my head against a wall. Because CLEARLY, Derek is the only pro who breaks the rules. Ever. And he does it ALL THE TIME. And clearly, he throws tantrums, despite the fact that he is (or should be) well aware of the rules by now.
“You want them to win so bad, you want their competitor to leave so they can do it. Well, is that really winning if you eliminate the competition?”
–this is the best statement.
^^^and Mark sometimes too
Sara – perfect. 🙂
Two rule breaking dances in ten seasons have blossomed into “He breaks the rules EVERY time!!!!!!” I would laugh if it wasn’t such a testament to my “How to Fix DWTS” diatribe from the past couple months. 🙂
In other news….George Clooney was just told he should join DWTS and he said he’d been thinking about it. I’m sure he was joking but I confess to swooning. 🙂
Diane, you’re contradicting yourself here.
“Surprise. Derek should have won.” But he didn’t.
“And if they were judging fairly and if the viewers voted fairly, he would have won.” But they’re NOT judging fairly. They hold Derek to a much higher standard, which works AGAINST him.
You said it yourself. He SHOULD have won, because he’s CLEARLY head and shoulders above the competition, but he DIDN’T. And yet, you somehow still think that “none of them will have a chance to win.” Because somehow, despite not winning in a season where it was obvious he created the best dances, he’s definitely going to win every season from now on.
Haha, thank PH.
Omg, George Clooney??? 😀 In my dreams maybe…
(Maybe HE’s the big star that’s requested Derek this season?!)
Sara, they’d made a handsome couple, but would George let Derek lead? 😀
As for Derek’s rampant rule-breaking 🙄 , it’s a perfect example of how perception becomes reality. *sigh*
Referencing back to when Derek was on Better With You…he does have a tendency to play the female role when dancing with other men (I heartily approve of this. His back-bends are lovely.)
…but he still leads 😛
Wow, George Clooney! I would die and go to heaven. lol Seriously, can you image? Though TPTB would have to get out the big bucks for him (or someone of that calibur) and it would indeed put this show back at the top of the ratings game along with all the other changes they’ve made and plus, not letting Derek go.
Nah, I would take Kellie and/or Wynonna anyday before George Clooney.
Sorry, Maks fans, but he can get on my last nerve. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!
Looks like Kelly and Val had fun at their events. I liked them as a couple last season and it’s nice they have remained friendly after the show.
