DWTS 16 Preliminary Power Rankings – Part II

So you read my predictions for who is going to be gone before the midpoint of the season.  Now it’s time for my predictions for who’s going to be sticking around longer…and who’s gonna win 🙂 Read on!

6.) Ingo & Kym – Not sure quite what to make of these two – they’re very likeable and seem to have great chemistry, Ingo seems willing to work hard and eager to do well, and Kym, as always, is a very patient, nurturing teacher that brings out the best in her partners.  But while everything seems pretty on the surface, I can’t shake the feeling that Ingo may be a bit…awkward.  The rehearsal video and the pix we’ve seen so far seem to reveal some “Ralph hands”, and Ingo himself has admitted that he’s not exactly a graceful guy.  I’m also seeing shades of him taking things just a little too seriously – and we’ve seen how being a little too serious and a little too desperate to do well can torpedo a couple’s chances of getting votes.  Now don’t get me wrong – compared to some of the couples on the bottom half of the list (namely D.L. & Cheryl, and possibly Sean & Peta), Ingo & Kym have a great connection and “taking things a little too seriously” is less of a problem than, say, having zero chemistry with your partner or having a partner that just doesn’t seem to give a hoot 😛 I just don’t know that Ingo & Kym are going to coast through this season like Hines & Kym did.  Fanbase-wise? I’m inclined to say that Ingo will benefit somewhat from the “soap vote”, although likely not to the degree Kelly did – since Ingo’s character on GH seems to only be recurring at this point, I don’t know that he’ll have as many of the same impassioned fans that voted for Kelly, also voting for him.  We already know Kym is pretty well-loved, so her fanbase should help out somewhat…but I think overall, these two will probably be more on-par with the Cameron Mathison/Edyta partnership, rather than the Kelly/Val one.  There are just too many more popular celebs (likely with better dance skills) this season for a soap star to really have a hope and a prayer of making it to the finale, methinks. Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess And Andy Dick Pictured In New York City

Oh, these pics are too cute to pass up. Getty Images has some wonderful photos of Sharna Burgess and Andy Dick while the two were in New York City this past week to promote Dancing With The Stars. Sharna is pictured in black leather leggings and boots and a black trench coat while Andy is decked out in jeans, a black vest and tie, and a gray jacket. Their bond, heart, and the fun they had and are having shines through. Be sure you see them all at Getty Images.

Welcoming In Dancing With The Stars Season 16 And Reasons Not To Quit Watching

PureDWTS reader Lois contributed a wonderful poem to welcome in the new season of Dancing With The Stars. This is cool and sets the mood. Enjoy and thanks Lois!!xx

My Poem to Welcome Season 16
by PureDWTS reader Lois

A STAR SPANGLED BANNER

A banner is waving, Season 16 appears on Monday night
The stars will come out, sparkling, shining so mega-bright

Another season of DANCING WITH THE STARS will appear
Bewitching, bedazzling, the spectacular show is almost near

The ladies will be shining, be all dolled up for the first dance
Dorothy and Tristan, Aly and Mark, they will be taking a chance

Zendaya and Val, Wynonna and Tony, ready to take the floor
Kellie and Derek, Lisa and Gleb, what will they have in store

The men on the banner will look spit-shined, polished for sure
D. J and Cheryl, Ingo and Kym, who could want for much more

Jacoby and Karina, Victor and Lindsay, will shuffle and glide
Andy and Sharna, Sean and Peta, will show us dancing pride

Len, Carrie Ann, Bruno are warming up their paddles to score
Brooke and Tom will announce the dancers, opening the door

A Star Spangled Banner is complete, is shimmering all aglow
The stars will glimmer like diamonds and its on with the show!

A STAR SPANGLED BANNER WILL WAVE ON MONDAY NIGHT!
SEASON 16 OF DANCING WITH THE STARS WILL SURELY DELIGHT!

Also, AARP has given 5 reasons why people shouldn’t quit watching the show. This is a fun read too before showtime as well. #5 has me cracking up!!

1. It’s fun to witness the transformative power of this dance competition. Wynonna Judd, with her great big heart, hair and personality, is this season’s star prospect for going zaftig-to-svelte. Past fat-to-fit competitor Kirstie Alley has been in touch with Wynonna, offering support. “She has become my sister and mentor,” Wynonna said.

2.Dorothy Hamill. Loved her! Missed her! Who could forget the America’s sweetheart figure skater, when she won Olympic gold in 1976 with her signature “Hamill Camel” spin and everyone ran out to get wedge haircuts? She’s still doing “Stars on Ice” shows and looking great at 56. Win, Dorothy, win!

3.Andy Dick. Yes, the Celebrity Rehab alumnus = stunt casting. But admit it: you’re curious about how he is going to do as a dancer, too.

4.Kellie Pickler. Look at that split! The country cutie, paired with the formidable Derek Hough, is one to watch.

5.They’ve added jazz and contemporary to the list of dance styles, potentially bringing in fresh and fun numbers. But there are elements of concern. They added The Bachelor Sean Lowe to the competition as a late entry. Did you watch The Bachelor? Is it just me, or is he looking a little purple and green?

More at AARP. One more day and counting down, Dance Cadets!!! You ready?

Dancing with the Stars Season 16, The Premiere – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So, on twitter yesterday, Carrie Ann Inaba is already defending the choice of including contemporary as a dance style in this season of DWTS. Because Val and Kelly’s was so great. :::rolls eyes::: Um…no, not really. It didn’t suck, but it certainly wasn’t of the same caliber as the ballroom dances that week. Come on – these are BALLROOM professionals and most regular viewers fell in love with a ballroom dance show.

Okay, so you know I had to get that out there right off the bat, right? Now we can get down to business. I would really, really love to know how they choose who gets what dance. This post will be updated as we learn the dance order. As always, I expect the night one dance order be reflected in their voting number and/or vice versa. 🙂 The dances are as follows:

ETA: Remember – I am “assuming” that the voting number coincides with the dance order for week 1, like it has every other season -but they are screwing with things again, so this could change. Don’t know why it would.

ETA 2: Totally called Zendaya’s dance position at the top of the hour. 🙂  The current order I have them in were my guesses…and I had Z right. I expect that will be the last one except for Kellie and Derek. 🙂

ETA 3: Two for two!! Called Wynonna right as well.

ETA 4: Damn, I’m good. 🙂  I’m on a streak – got Sean right as well.

ETA 5: Off by one spot on Dorothy and Victor. It was nice while it lasted. 🙂

ETA 6: Geez, TPTB! Soooo predictable. Put the big Superbowl dude last, and your “family” at the top of the hour. People wanted to know how I was guessing, that’s one answer. 🙂  Oh, and his Jersey number is 12, isn’t it??

ETA 7: With Derek FINALLY confirming they are going first, we have our complete dance order. I was right about both Kellie and Andy. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
