Kym Johnson And Ingo Rademacher Talk About Dancing With The Stars Week 5
Awww, don’t you just love Ingo in an “Indiana Jones” hat? Sorry, got side tracked. Here is Ingo and Kym on Access Hollywood today talking about their sexy and classy dance coming up….
Someone needs to teach Ingo to be more happy and positive. lol
Not related to this interview… but man.. this guy is a downer. On Twitter he’s all like ” i think i’ll get 6 5 6 for my cha cha” then telling D.L he’ll get a lower score than him .. lol
I dont know if he is joking or not but i wish he was a bit more positive. Also don’t know if he is askig for pity or what but he should be a little more confident..
I gotta say though, i sometimes do the same… i tend to always expect bad scenarios in order for the end result to be good and then i can prove myself wrong 😛
CC – Yeah, I called him on it on twitter. Told him he was being a little Debbie Downer today… and I actually got a response from him! 😀 But you’re right, he needs to stop with the “oh, this is so hard” stuff. I mean, it’s the Cha-Cha. Easiest of the Latin dances. And yeah, for a bit, there’s 3 professionals and Ingo out there on the dance floor… but he just needs to suck it up, and keep going! 🙂
Yeah he is wayyyy negative. I don’t under stand how a soap star and pro athlete can have such low confidence. It’s one thing to be humble but its another to have zero faith in yourself that you can do something you never tried before. Maybe his attitude is what’s wrong with Kym. She has definitely not been herself and she is the sunshine of the show. Havin a partner who “appears” to be a gem for the show and then to have them be such a downer has got to wear you down.
Sally’s been great staying on Ingo’s back about the unhelpful attitude. I hoped that the fact that he tweeted her back showed some recognition of his prob. I have no illusions that he’ll end up in top 3 with this tude, but he could be a whole lot better if he gets his mind in gear IMO.
I see improvement in Ingo every week. There’s a photo on the ABC site of him in the VWaltz, and his free hand looks pretty darn good! He’s not a natural, but Kym is working on all the little things that will help him look better on the dance floor.
Isn’t it an “Aussie thing” to not talk yourself up? So I think that’s where some of the “I’m a crap dancer” talk comes from. Unfortunately, I think he’s buying into the talk and it’s affecting his ability to really break out. He won’t just go for it on the dance floor. He’s worried about every little thing and lets minor mishaps throw him.
Yeah he worries so much about the slight little things and that throws him off..
Like not taking Kym’s skirt off right in the Paso and something else with her dress in the V. Waltz…
I didnt notice either one of those things until he pointed them out. Poor guy is so perfectionist and that sometimes hurts him.
I agree with all of your comments. I see improvement each week, but as CC mentioned he was concerned the last two weeks with wardrobe types of things that no one even noticed. I think Heather hit the nail on the head when she mentioned his attitude may be what is wrong with Kym. When I watched this video and some of their interviews after the show and other places I feel like Kym almost wants to roll her eyes when he talks in this negative way. He seems different when he speaks about his family and other things that he has more passion for and aren’t related to his dancing. Has to be hard for Kym because she has always been so bubbly and upbeat.
Before Dorothy had to withdraw, I saw everyone commenting on her lack of self confidence and negative attitude. Now everyone is commenting on Ingo’s negativity. Did anyone stop to think how THEY might feel in his place. I mean here is a guy who appears to work very hard at improving each week and the judges have all commented on how he takes their advice and corrects what he did wrong from the previous week, only to NOT see it reflected in better scores. He also sees how Zendaya, though a trained dancer already, is not even penalized for not doing a Proper Samba, but rather praised for it’s uniqueness!Plus all the Twitter nonsense that fans are frusterated with, so I can only guess how the celebs feel trying to compete with that going on! I also would feel discouraged and would struggle to keep a good attitude.
But he is improving .. and he is getting better scores week by week .. he got his highest of the season on monday night! The man cant expect to get 9s already when theres a lot of things he needs to do better..
If that were the case then I would expect Victor, Andy, Jacoby (who just keeps getting 8s and more 8s) to be the same. But all those people seem to be happy because they know they put in the effort and regardless of their scores they are having fun. They arent really concerned with what the judges give them they just go out there and do what they can and that’s it.
Ingo is just a perfectionist and that’s not always a bad thing. That could mean he is working even harder than anyone cause he wants to do well. Except he thinks that even with all his hard work that he is not doing good enough when he needs to realize he is even better than half the cast and gets very good scores for what he does (D.L, Sean, Victor and in terms of technique only better than Andy).
I just love these two. What I love the most about them so far is how they are able to express so much “compassion” artistically. I especially loved their first two dances. I think he is way WAY better than Aly (who I still am not feeling and doubt I will). Right now, I’d rank him 4th or 5th. I think if he doesn’t think about it all so much and just relaxes, concentrates just on Kym and their compassion, he can do well.
Adding: Loves all of your replies!
Blonde besides zendaya solo she had plenty of samba content she didn’t have samba rolls but she had plenty of samba content that’s why she was praised and Vals choreography was amazing!
I agree that he’s feeling the frustration. I’ve met Ingo before and he’s always been a very positive person, so this is kind of surprising, but he’s definitely striving to do better and is improving.
The scores just don’t reflect it like they do for DL and Andy.
So a question. Do you guys think the self-deprecation is worse than Sean “I’m going to win” which sounds a little full of himself considering his dances?
Well I havent seen Sean say that he’s so sure he is going to win. I know hr says that he wants to but nothing more than that. And if he thinks he is going to win he is delusional..
Lulu (#13): At least for me, it’s not that Ingo’s negativity is “worse” (or better) than Sean’s schtick. It’s that it is pretty much the same, and it gets old. Fast.
Instead of the “Oh, woe is me!” stuff, I’d prefer “Yes, this is hard. But it’s FUN, and I’m giving it my all!” I don’t think he’s said for quite some time whether or not he’s enjoying himself. With all of his other comments, I wonder… Also, I think that Cidra and CC are right – it seems that the little things just totally throw him for a loop. It’s almost like Kym should have a session with him where she says “OK, when (not if) something goes wrong, here’s how we recover from it and move on.”
@Gail (#7) – Thank you for pointing that out! I was saying to someone else the other day that it looked like Kym was quiet & reserved in the OTRC interview – like she wasn’t pleased, or didn’t feel well – just “off”, you know? Glad to hear someone else is seeing it too. I guess I’m NOT a COMPLETE idiot; there must still pieces missing! 😉 😉 😉
I felt that samba though entertaining, was not a challenge for Zendaya and therefore I was not as impressed by it. She is a dancer after all, and maybe she never had ballroom before, but she obviously is well coordinated and has musicality. The same with Aly. She is an Olympic gymnist who did a routine that I felt was atleast 60% gymnastics. I expected it, no surprise, no WOW factor for me. Sorry. Andy impressed me much more and I feel he deserved the encore dance.
@Lulu #13 I agree with Sally #15’s answer to your question. I think because Ingo has said this same sort of thing over and over it is getting old. I really do wonder if he is having fun. He is definitely improving and agree with Vogue I enjoy him more than Aly. I can’t put my finger on why I am not moved by Aly, but I am not and I agree with Blonde #16 I really wanted Andy to get the Encore dance.
@Sally #15 No you are NOT an idiot at all. If you are that would make two of us. I have noticed Kym is just off and have mentioned it before. I love Kym and she normally is very bubbly and excited and I haven’t seen her that way. I even said I hope she is okay. I hope it is just because she would like Ingo to be more upbeat and like you said not have the “woe is me” type of attitude.
Vogue #10 has it right Ingo just needs to relax, concentrate on Kym and their compassion and he will do well. If Ingo starts to act more like he really is enjoying himself, I am hoping we will see the Kym we are use to seeing.
I think the whole behind the scenes manipulation may be getting to Kym. She, just like Derek, strike me as pretty genuine people who know the score, but who by nature aren’t big game players. Even for people who normally don’t get caught up in the “office politics” sometimes it still gets to you. Seeing D.L. and Cheryl still in the competition despite his bad attitude and bare minimal progress, Zendaya and Val in the middle of all the Twitter hype and now The One And Only’s great return, it’s no wonder if she feels she’s just there this season riding out her time there.
@blonde – I have felt the past few seasons that Kym has lost her shine (not her talent by any means, but her zest for the show itself).
My fear is that she may be retiring her professional dancing shoes sooner rather than later.
You may be right Sandy.
Yeah, I believe I read somewhere that Kym only has season 16 & 17 on her contract, and she’s talked about hanging up for dancing shoes… 🙁 But darn it, I really wanted her to go far this time around, and it looks like Ingo is just giving up! Like we’ve heard so many times before, DWTS is much harder than it looks…
… hanging up *her* dancing shoes. Bad typing night.. 😛 “Sally, step AWAY from the keyboard!” 😀
