DWTS Season 16, Week 8 – Dancing by the Numbers
Well, I have to say, I’m about over this show. Sooo predictable. Zendaya not at the top for a couple weeks, so we better make sure she’s there tonight. Kellie was at the top for a couple weeks, we better make sure she has a fall. Derek starts talking creatively, prepare for the stupid from Len. Oh, and now Sean has to be the new Andy. Did he dance great? No. But neither did Ingo. Certainly not worthy of the points separating them.
It makes me sad, actually. I nearly forgot to turn the TV on tonight. I can’t work up too much indignation over Kellie’s Paso because I knew in advance that that was how it was going to go. It’s Zendaya’s turn to be at the top of the leaderboard. Did she have the best dances of the night? I don’t actually REMEMBER.
I’m bored. Heads up DWTS – you’re losing me.
Anyway, Sean is pretty much toast and I don’t see any way around it. Yes, Ingo has been in the bottom two before, but Sean is significantly below him in score and he’s been in the bottom two also. What would it take for Sean to be safe?? He needs ONE of the following:
– Sean needs 19,300 more votes per million votes cast than Ingo, OR;
– Sean needs 32,200 more votes per million votes cast than Jacoby, OR;
– Sean needs 41,800 more votes per million votes cast than Kellie, OR;
– Sean needs 45,100 more votes per million votes cast than Aly, OR;
– Sean needs 51,500 more votes per million votes cast than Zendaya.
Yeah, I don’t see that happening either. Now, his one hope, I think, is Ingo. What does Ingo need to be safe tomorrow night? He needs ONE of the following things to happen:
– Ingo needs for Sean to NOT get the 19,300 more votes per million votes cast than him, OR;
– Ingo needs 12,900 more votes per million votes cast than Jacoby, OR;
– Ingo needs 22,600 more votes per million votes cast than Kellie, OR;
– Ingo needs 25,800 more votes per millon votes cast than Aly, OR;
– Ingo needs 32,200 more votes per million votes cast than Zendaya.
I would go on, but I’m bored. If I turn out to be wrong, I’ll do a follow up post. In a nutshell, I predict Ingo and Sean in the bottom two with Sean going home. If not Sean, then Ingo. If Ingo avoids the bottom two, then Jacoby will be there, but I kind of doubt it. We’re about at that time in the season where they stop doing a “bottom 2” and start reverting to the “in no particular order” spiel. I would not be at all surprised to see a Jeopardy final two standing. For example, them saying Sean, you’re in jeopardy….then saying the same thing to Jacoby or Kellie and Ingo. No mention of bottom two, but putting Sean against someone other than Ingo….for the sake of Drama.
And then Sean goes home. Or Ingo, if Sean is lucky.
Can we just axe both Ingo and Sean tonight?
WOW! Only 1 post to read. I think apathy is alive and well at PureDWTS! I’m in total DVR mode these days, and vote K & D throughout the evening while doing other, more interesting things, like watching the grass grow!
On the same page as you, Tony! Would rather have them both go tonight so we can have a better semi-finals and just 3 in the finals.
I can actually see those pinhead producers putting Kellie in jeopardy.
Whenever their is a controversy on this show instead of smothering the flames to put out the fire, they feed it kindling in order spark it more.
But I sincerely hope it’s Sean going bye-bye.
The only bright spots that I can see about the show tonight, is that we are going to see an INCREDIBLE Macy’s Stars of Dance tonight, it almost makes up for already knowing (without being told) Zendaya and Val will be dancing the encore…. And Sean most likely will be going home.
Am I correct in my memory (which I do admit is faulty) that we did have one week without an encore?
This is week 8… Week 1 had no results show, so this is the 7th results show… Which means we would have seen 6 encore performances, right? Sean had one, Mark had 2, the Team Paso had one, Zendaya had one plus tonight….. Am I missing someone’s encore?
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who’s been overcome with apathy after last night’s OTT foolishness and yawning predictability.
I rarely watch the results show live and definitely won’t tonight. I’ll enjoy Derek’s amazing routine tonight a lot more if I’m not tainted by all the crap — from the “first perfect 30” getting the encore to the inevitable Brooke-bot moment, “Kellie/Derek…..you’re in jeopardy”. 🙄
They could flip a coin to decide whether Ingo or Sean goes home. It’s all the same to me. Ingo’s whiny rehearsal vid was the last straw for me with him, and Sean should have gone last week.
I agree. It’s why I’ve stopped watching (caught the first week on YouTube and that’s it) because the fact that the producers decide in advance how everything plays out has ruined the show. Maybe it was always like that but used to be more subtle – now it’s so obvious that you realize your votes don’t mean anything.
I’m with you Tony and Kaitlyn!
I’m with jimmbboe,Tony, and Kaitlyn. 🙂
Yes, I think Sean is toast! I HOPE they don’t put Kellie in jeopardy because of that debacle last night but I could TOTALLY see those jackholes doing that!
It’s so sad that so many are bored with the show. All of you that work on this site put so much time and effort into it and I thank you. Reading your posts gives me not only insight to the dances, but are enjoyable.
I will watch the show tonight but will also have a book in hand. I will probably hit the mute button when Z gets the encore dance. I just don’t want to hear or see her and Val front and center again. I’m hoping that Len has to apologize for that outburst even though it was staged. I agree that it went farther than it was supposed to and an apology to not only Kellie, Derek and Tristan, but to everyone who watched it should be given.
Sean and Ingo should be the last two standing. Anything else would be sooo wrong. I don’t understand how Sean lasted longer than Andy. Oh wait, I do. TPTB wanted it that way. He was so much more enjoyable to watch than either of them. I’m thinking Sean will be leaving because after seeing the numbers, I just don’t see him capable of overcoming it. No loss in my opinion, and good bye to Peta too. Her choreography and sleazy costumes week after week are old. I lump her with Cheryl. Both of them could leave and I wouldn’t miss either one.
You know if Sean had kept his mouth shut about Andy I would actually feel bad for him right about now. Got to be hard to have smoke blown up your backside and then poof. Not shown the love so much all the sudden. Bet he misses Andy. 🙂
I find myself not really caring who leaves tonight.
@PH
I think it was the way they played Andy that hammered in the last nail. There’s always next season and Derek’s dance tonight will be the only reason I watch. Don’t give up. All is not lost yet.
I’m with you, PH. I find myself getting more & more sad; more & more apathetic… I try to be upbeat, but !@)(&%#!(%*&#(%*!(*#@$(!*@$-ing TPTB won’t stop doing their little whirling-dervish dance over DWTS. At this rate (Afro Jazz, Hippity-hoppity, and Contemporary), why don’t they rename DWTS to “So You’re a Celebrity, and You Think You Can Dance?” and just be done with it. Hell, let’s even replace Len with Nigel. And get rid of the phone-in vote; just leave it up to who has the most Twitter followers…
Bah.
After last season I stopped watching this show live. I go to youtube and watch the videos and then I come to this site for amazing insight. Len caused me to never trust this show and it looks like last night he showed his true colors again. I have been giving votes to Kellie and Derek because they are amazing together.
I think Ingo should be the one going home, he doesn’t seem to want to do it anymore (like Victor a couple weeks ago). I look at number of youtube views to see who is popular and to me it looks like fans are done with Ingo too. Sean probably gets more fan votes than Ingo, but the judge score difference may be too much for the fan vote to overcome this week (like it was for Andy last week).
I think Kellie will get the encore and I think Len and tptb were actually pimping her this week by underscoring her for drama (even posting the clip on their dwts youtube channel), thereby giving fans extra motivation to vote for her.
Isn’t it a no win situation for tptb? If same people are on top every week, viewers will say its boring and predictable. So they manipulate the leaderboard to spotlight different dancers every week, but viewers still think the show is predictable. I understand viewers are upset with judging and scoring, but to me I watch it for the entertaiment of the dances, dancers and their season-long progression. So personally the judge and tptb manipulation week to week doesn’t bother me because the finale usually ends up the ones who should be there. And the finales they usually score everyone equally or bunched up very close, ultimately leaving it to the fan vote to decide the winner in the end.
Ingo, Sean. Doesn’t really matter. Whoever is saved tonight, will go next week likely. Although I really am tired of Sean and his “fiancee”.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Kelly and Derek end up in “jeopardy” either.
Lori, Jacoby had an encore dance with his Jive. Would love to see Kellie and Derek do both dances like he intended them to flow. But, with Derek doing an epic dance on the ceiling, they might not. I just hope Len apologizes for his tone and rant; especially to Bruno for that crude remark. He went over the edge. He’ll never apologize for his opinion. Len has preconceived notions about the dances. After telling Derek to put certain steps in the Paso, he was expecting a certain style. When he didn’t get his old-fashioned Paso, he exploded. Derek doesn’t deserve that treatment. He’s a gentleman.
I agree! I think it will be Sean and Ingo in the bottom two with Sean (Hopefully!!! please please please) leaving!!!!! I’ve seen enough of this guy and his ego to last me a lifetime and then some.
Wonder if Conrad Green and company realize they are losing the original fanbase to DWTS? We know they don’t care, but they should. The tweeners may be technologically connected, but I still hold the purse strings in my house. Wonder if the sponsors of the show realize they are losing the “buying power” viewers at DWTS? Probably not. Wonder who will fill in the gap next season when the TWEENERS aren’t watching DWTS?
Wonders never cease!
@chachachoo – Good question.
Me myself, I did NOT watch one second of DWTS last night and that hasn’t happened for many, many seasons. I told myself, this crap has reached the last straw, and for this week I am standing firm in my committment to, as you say so eloquently… “hold the purse strings in my house”.
I voted for Kellie and Derek online and that was it. Thank goodness for this site, I have been able to keep updated on everything DWTS. But DWTS better get it’s act together and fast.
Saw Donald ask his fans to vote for his girl and Sean and then I saw Kelly M supporting Ingo…so will her GH fans vote like crazy for him? Didn’t see anything for Jacoby or Kellie ( from other stars).
sheery, that’s totally anecdotal evidence and I know you’re really fond of it – but please start recognizing it for what it is. Do you vote for who you’re told to vote for?? I sure don’t.
I don’t know when, but if Kellie does not get the encore tonight her whole dance should be on some future show. Last night’s hysterics ruined it for some although the live audience were already on there feet after the first few bars of music. A lot of preparation, creative thought(Derek)went into those performances for Kellie the three of them were brilliant together and the dance deserves to be seen again.How ridiculous is I that Kellie has YET, to have an encore.
Holy Smokes! I just watched Kellie and Derek’s dances from last night on Pure Derk Hough back to back.
Friggin’ hot.
Hahaha…Holly just outed herself as the alt Courtney. LOL. Knew I recognized her.
This show is so awful and predictable. I’ll be watching The Voice when Zendaya does the encore for the third time. And you know they are going to put Kellie and Derek “in jeopardy”. All because of the nonsense that happened last night.
I heard ratings hit a new series low last night. Wonder why?
I wouldn’t normally do this, but just for Holly/Courtney/COTC – http://www.wetpaint.com/dancing-with-the-stars/articles/derek-hough-blindsided-by-dancing-with-the-stars-judge-len-goodmans-critique?fb_pid=1367956948&utm_campaign=vrl&utm_medium=tw-dwtswetpaint&utm_source=twitter.com
SMH…Val, Val, Val, Val, Val. Once again, not so much what you say but HOW you say it.
PH, you’re priceless girlie. Our resident Buffy.
Enjoy Derek and the floating stage of awesomeness!
With the way TPTB are treating their original audience, they don’t deserve our support. However, I think that original audience still loves dancing and engrossing themselves in a partnership. I am hoping that next season will be better. I’m afraid that apathy will kill our chances at seeing the return of the show we once loved so much.
What is the big deal with that 18-45 rating anyway? I mean, in terms of total viewers DWTS beat The Voice last night. Not in that 18-45 category, but still.
[…] Heidi: Said Sean was going home and Ingo was in the bottom two OR there would be no bottom two and either Jacoby or Kellie would be there with Sean. […]
@Princess Heidi
Thank you for being so generous and posting that link! It was probably taken out of context, but whatever. If he said it, he said it. I won’t argue that much.
I’ve watched for five seasons (Kirstie’s first go-round) and was so addicted to the show that I once got the Sears TV guys to put DWTS on when I had to wait for someone. Last night, turned the channel at 7 after the single dances to watch Top Chef Canada. It’s just a yawn; so predictable; they really wanted the Gay Leprauchan aka Sean (nothing wrong with being a gay leprauchan if that’s your aim) to stay on too long to promote his show and really, this season is likely it for me. I LOVED Andy though and do adore Kellie and Derek so if it’s on (i.e. roommate watching) I’ll watch; otherwise just catch on YouTube. Which I am now going to for Kellie’s trio!
Strange, in this one, Val thinks it’s cool, but in an interview with Today says no one paid attention to Len’s words because they were focused on his outburst and unprofessionalism. Bit wishy washy, don’t you think?
I was a Val fan last season because I thought what he did with Kelly was amazing. This season not so much.. and it’s not because of the dancing. Zendaya is great and he’s doing a great job with her, but now that he has a partner that he can win with he’s so arrogant. He acts like everyone else pales in comparison to her. I didn’t like the whole “we’re going to pick on someone our own size” comment for the dance off and when they asked him if Len had a point with his critique of Kellie and Derek’s paso he said “he may have.” I get that he wants to win, but it’s not a good look especially when some of the other pros and troupe members like Peta, Emma, Sasha, and Tristan said it was a true paso doble. Did anyone else think it was inappropriate for him to call Zendaya a 10 in the confessionals?
This season I’m rooting for Derek & Kellie. Derek is by far the best pro on the show, and he is truly a class act. I don’t understand how people think he is cocky. I never get that vibe from him. He brings out the best in all his partners. It’s amazing watching what he does and his creativity. Kellie is what the spirit of this show is about a non-dancer learning how to dance. She amazes me every week. So many of her dances are memorable to me. How can anyone not like her? She’s such a genuine person and has such a great personality. She’s very likable.
