Maks Chmerkovskiy Interviewed About Dancing With The Stars And Childhelp
Today, Maks Chmerkovskiy was a guest on Hallmark’s “Home & Family” show. Did you know he turned down the first season of dancing With The Stars? At first, many of the dancers competing at the time thought Dancing With The Stars was a joke.
While being interviewed, they showed clips of Maks dancing with Melissa Gilbert. The interviewers ask him about his temper. He talks of how his bad-boy image is misrepresented on the show and he doesn’t have a temper. He just has a lot of passion.
Maks also answers questions about his dance career. He talks about his youth and growing up with Val. All this and much more at Hallmark including spreading the word for his new cause for Childhelp!!
Thanks for posting this Vogue. I didn’t get to see the whole thing on Hallmark. Surprised that Maks admitted he didn’t like dancing as a youngster. And his description of the difference between “mega talented” and “people who get things done” putting himself in the latter category and Val in the first.
As to the “bad boy” rap that’s been discussed ad nauseum, I’ll agree with passionate. He and Val remind me of my two sons. Kindest, most thoughtful men in the world until they step on a football field, baseball diamond, basketball court, tennis court, or golf course. Then it’s “katy bar the door” If they were dancers, it would be the same. Competitive with a capital “C”. ( No pun intended ) Let somebody else get the “Mr. Congeniality” award. They believe in the Ricky Bobby mantra, “If you’re not first, you’re last”. They always apologize if they feel they’ve stepped on toes during the heat of battle. The Chmerkovskiys probably do,too, since they seem to get along fine with the other pros. Couldn’t be prouder of my “mama’s boys”, as I’m sure Larissa Chmerkovskiy is of her sons.
It’s funny, Auntie. Julianne recently said that Derek is the extremely talented one, and she’s the one who “gets shit done”. Must be a sibling thing.
