PureDWTS Peta Murgatroyd And Val Chmerkovskiy Talk About Their Chemistry And Ballroom With A Twist

Just a heads up! Peta Murgatroyd and Val Chmerkovskiy have joined the cast of “Ballroom With A Twist” for a week at the the Patchogue Theatre in Long Island. Newsday has a great article about it which includes a little interview with Peta and Val. Here is a take where they talk of their chemistry and more. Note too how Val says he plans to do some Hip Hop.

“We have a broader dance repertoire than we have on the TV show,” says Murgatroyd, who won the mirrored-ball trophy with partner and now-retired NFL star Donald Driver on season 14 of “DWTS.”

“We have some group numbers with just the boys and then just the girls as we dance to songs by ‘Idol’ finalists,” Murgatroyd says in a phone interview from her Los Angeles home. Of her paired dancing in “Ballroom,” she adds, “I love dancing with Val. He’s a great friend and the most talented guy in the show. He inspires me.”

Chmerkovskiy returns the compliment.

“We have great chemistry on the dance floor,” he says. “It’s a very different experience than the TV show. We don’t have the responsibility of training people who may be great athletes or celebrities but aren’t dancers.”

SHOWING HIS VERSATILITY

Chmerkovskiy says he’s looking forward to displaying some of his hip-hop moves, too. His skills are not limited to ballroom dance. He’s also an aspiring rapper and a classically trained violinist. In his most recent of four “Dancing With the Stars” stints — season 16 — he danced with Disney Channel star and recording artist Zendaya Coleman.

Now living in New Jersey, the two-time International DanceSport Federation world champion also co-owns Dance With Me studios, which has a branch in Glen Head. Next up for Chmerkovskiy: Launching Dance With Me Jr., teaching dance to kids.
