PureDWTS Season 17 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 2
My, how the Las Vegas odds can change after the couples dance and that they do as we approach the 2nd episode of Dancing With The Stars Season 17. Note the odds makers at Sports Bovada are putting Amber Riley in first place now. The top four are the same but, just switched around a bit. They don’t have Valerie Harper in last. She’s moved up the list, but, I think she should be even higher? And Leah Remini? Well, I think she should be placed in the bottom three if not last. I’m just not feeling it? I was also a little shocked on Snooki’s odds being so high now? I think she should placed in the bottom four or five.
Amber Riley 2/1
Corbin Bleu 3/1
Elizabeth Berkley 11/2
Christina Milan 7/1
Snooki 15/2
Jack Osbourne 10/1
Brant Daugherty 14/1
Leah Remini 14/1
Valerie Harper 20/1
Keyshawn Johnson 33/1
Bill Engvall 100/1
Bill Nye 100/1
Below are last week’s odds:
Corbin Bleu 5/2
Christina Milan 13/4
Amber Riley 11/2
Elizabeth Berkley 11/2
Leah Remini 7/1
Snooki 8/1
Brant Daugherty 10/1
Keyshawn Johnson 10/1
Jack Osbourne 25/1
Bill Engvall 50/1
Bill Nye 50/1
Valerie Harper 50/1
So, what do you think? Do you agree with this week’s odds? Let see what Heidi and Courtney think. Let us know your thoughts too in comments.
Courtney: Ehhh…I’m not sure really what to think for this week, other than that Amber’s probably correct at the top with Corbin nipping at her heels, and Elizabeth & Christina following up behind. The rest is kind of murky for me – I doubt Bill is headed home this week, but I do think his novelty will wear off before long; I think Bill may have more longevity than we originally thought; and based on murmurings here – Leah’s days may be numbered. Brant, Jack, & Keyshawn are big question marks for me – I don’t think they’re doing terribly with votes, but I don’t think they’re doing fantastic with votes, either. Snooki & Valerie are somewhere between the top tier (Amber, Corbin, Elizabeth, & Christina) and the guys I have no clue about (Jack, Keyshawn, & Brant). I think things will become clearer come Monday, when we see the results of the first vote – beyond that, I’m just feeling discombobulated 😛
Heidi: I think they have the top five right…just not in that order. 🙂 As much as I love Amber and Derek, I really doubt that she’s going to win this thing. And that’s what these odds are – the odds to win. I still think that Corbin is going to take this, mainly because I think he’ll end up being good across both ballroom and latin (as he should be, being second only to Elizabeth in terms of ringerdom) and I’m not sure that Amber will be. Plus, I doubt anyone is going to let Derek get a 5th trophy AND Len’s bias will certainly come out shortly. If Snooki can reign it in a bit, I think she could edge Christina and Elizabeth out of the top three, based mainly on fanbase. I think one of those two (Christina and Elizabeth) could be a shocking elimination – I’m just not sure both of them can make the top 5. I guess we’ll see.
I also think the top 5 could be just about right. Based on fanbases + dancing ability, I think that’s a pretty solid top 5. Of course BIll Nye has a massive fanbase (I’m still not over the fact that he got 3.4M views on YouTube) but his dancing can only take him so far unless of course he comes out and nails his routines (which I don’t really see him doing, sadly).
I can also see Snooki beating out Christina or Elizabeth. I think in terms of personality, Snooki has a lot more to give and honestly, Christina and Eli really bore me and their partnerships with Mark and Val still seem off to me.
I would swap bill engvall with Leah because I feel Bill and Emma did amazing and deserve to stay!
I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Nicole beat out Elizabeth & Christina…especially for Sasha to have a chance to show us more of what he can do.
Heard Karina has choreographed a “kick-ass” jive …hmm? 🙂
Yea, I think its to early to tell but I could see Brant and Jack knocking off either christina or elizabeth. If Brant remains a solid dancer, a lot of females (the main watching demo of dwts) thinks hes cute, hes likeable and hes from a abc family show. Jack has a inspiring story to get behind, so far a pretty good dancer and is also likeable. Who would of thought his sis Kelly would made it so far in her season. I think for sure Corbin will be in top three and a lot of ppl. seem to be looking past Snooki’s past and getting behind her but I think its to early to tell.
I’m not surprised to see they moved Nicole higher – given her dance ability and her fanbase, I wouldn’t be surprised if she made top five (or higher).
I’m not sure Amber will win myself, but she will definitely make the finals if she keeps going like she started. I think she’ll do okay in ballroom; I’m actually more concerned about contemporary/jazz for her.
Leah probably should be a little lower – but we’ll see.
I wouldn’t be surprised (depending on how they dance moving forward) if Jack or Valerie (or possibly Brant) knock either Christina or Elizabeth out of the top five, and I could even see them both leaving before the finals, because there are people with more personality and stronger stories, and if they also dance well (or continue to dance well), I don’t see either of those ladies making it all the way.
Totally agree with all that’s been said. I agree with the top five,
for now, but I see a Jack or Brant slipping in there somewhere.
Also, agree as much as I love Derek & Amber (there will be the oh no 5th MBT mindset) so think it will be Corbin winning.
This week should be interesting.
Also cheering for Derek for that Emmy tomorrow night.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Christina or Elizabeth as surprise eliminations either. Both are good, but they aren’t really being talked about as much as I’d expect them to be. Elizabeth may edge out Christina OR the judges could pull a ‘Chelsea Kane’ & overhype/overscore them into the finals.
As for Amber, I think on paper, Corbin is her toughest competition. And I wonder just how devoted the Gleeks are. Are they just going on YT/Twitter and commenting or do they have a strategy and actually voting? If so, how strongly are they voting? I’d be very happy with Amber winning, but we are just heading into week 2. Christina, Corbin AND Elizabeth are about to hit the Latin and/or Ballroom dances (again, WHY did we have to see Contemporary???). I have a feeling Amber won’t be as hyped but who knows really?
Unless TPTB puppeteer everything (like that’s NEVER happened before, how dare I even suggest such a repulsive thing?) I can see the top 5 being Corbin, Jack, Bill N. (Come on, Ty Murray & Jerry Springer went further than they should have), Snooki & either Amber/Elizabeth. But again, time will tell.
Oh and I forgot to add this:
Everyone all up in arms about Amber need to remember that Ralph Macchio & Joanna Krupa both led the leader board in Week 1 during their respective seasons & did they win? Nope.
I actually think that Jack is way too high on the list. Certainly he has a lot of things going for him, and I think Cheryl was very smart in her choreography, showed him off to his best advantage. He does, however, have those sort of karate arms/hands, and I got no sense of any flow with the music. Of course all this could change over time, but I do think there is an awkwardness. His father is plenty awkward (!) so maybe he comes by it genetically.
Personally I would like to see Brant surpass Christina and/or Elizabeth. Feel him, don’t feel them.
I feel as though Snooki and Brant will surpass Elizabeth and Christina for the top 4
Wouldn’t it be great if they called Bill E. safe right at the top of the show! Doubt it will happen though.
I think these odds are just about right. I think Amber and Corbin are heading for the finals and far as the third spot I think it could be Elizabeth, possibly Snooki, or quite possibly Jack.
Sandy, it would make my evening if Bill E was called safe — I don’t care when as long as he’s called safe.
As for the new odds? If you’re just looking at dance talent, yeah, they have the top 5 right, but we all know there’s a lot more to it than dancing.
Cidra: “As for the new odds? If you’re just looking at dance talent, yeah, they have the top 5 right, but we all know there’s a lot more to it than dancing.”
This is why I have no idea how it will turn out. To me, it doesn’t seem at all predictable yet. I don’t even know how I would want it to go if I had the power to make it go according to my own wishes, at least not in all the specific details of order.
Glad Vogue isn’t giving us one of her fun polls yet, I’d have more trouble than I usually do answering the questions.
On Heidi’s point of Elizabeth or Christina being a shock elimination, perhaps – could anyone else see Bill Nye outlasting either of them? Not that I want him too (in fact, I’m rooting for both Elizabeth and Christina, alongside Amber and Corbin) but it just seems like his fanbase could take him a couple weeks longer.
I think the top five are probably right, but I’m betting that Snooki surpasses both Christina and Elizabeth. I think Christina is going to go a little farther than Elizabeth. Elizabeth I see finishing in 6th or 7th place.
I also think Jack has the chance to do better than at least one of them. I like his first dance and if he continues like that, improving each week, he could be around a while.
Leah, Brant, Christina and Elizabeth bore me. I won’t any of them once they’re gone. I’m hoping Bill E. isn’t sent home this week. We all know Bill N. was the worst, I’m not sure if he could improve enough to stay long, but he’s probably safe this week.
I think, if Bill E. received enough votes, that Leah and Keyshawn could be the bottom two.
I just rewatched Bill Nye’s dance. As far as his actual “dancing”, I feel it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever seen. D.L’s “dancing” if you can call it that was much worse than Bill’s IMHO. What made Bill’s dance so bad I think is that he acted the part of the mad scientist for the whole dance. Tyne’s odd choice of costume with those feathers didn’t help either. My gut tells me that despite having the lowest scores and the most inexperienced pro, Bill definitely could be saved by the fans. To me Bill has a quirky, endearingness about him that Leah and Keshawn lack.
