DWTS Season 17, Week 4 – Let’s Recap Tonight’s Show!! (SPOILERS)

Well, I was rather underwhelmed by the first half of the show. Didn’t care for Val and Elizabeth and I’m not sure why. Didn’t like Brant – too weak. Loved Snookie, Loved Amber, Loved Bill. I would say those are my top three and two of them were either sick or hurt. Has anyone noticed that Derek’s partners seem to do even better when under more pressure?

Anyway, they called Bill safe immediately after his dance which tells me he’s gotten over the hump and is getting the votes now. But it only gets harder and he can’t afford low scores from here on out. Then, the last three standing were:

Snookie and Sasha
Brant and Peta
Valerie and Tristan

Snookie was called safe first, then Valerie and Tristan were eliminated. Sad, but she had a good run.

So, thoughts? How did Julianne do? Do you suppose Mark is still feeling the BURRRNNNNN? Poor guy. I felt bad for him but I couldn’t argue with anything she was saying. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Snooki Writes Of Dancing With The Stars Rehearsals For The Jive And More

Snooki writes at People that she’s had a hard time this week rehearsing being she had a fever and has felt run down. She’s definitely nervous for tonight too, but, says it will be a blast. Below is more. I love the last sentence. I wish for that too.

Even though we practiced every day, they weren’t the best rehearsals and I’m definitely nervous for the show Monday. I hate being sick, especially because my schedule is so busy, but I love being busy. I just need my body to love it also.

Our dance is bringing back memories from high school and we are incorporating some of my cheerleading skills! Even though the week was a drag for me, I know Monday night is going to be a blast either way, sick or not I will do my best and can’t wait to show you guys our dance!

Also another couple is going to be eliminated and I hate this part. Can’t everyone just stay and we all dance together?!

More at People.

ETA: Access Hollywood interviewed Snooki and Sasha in rehearsals. She talks of being in much better shape now and is eating better. Below is a take, but, be watching this link too as they may have some video footage coming up shortly.

“I was really fat,” the MTV star told Access during a recent rehearsal with pro partner Sasha Farber. “And, I’m so small! It’s like where was it?”

The pint-size star explained that she’s actually gained some weight since she began competing on the ABC reality series.

“I’m gaining more weight now, because I know that I’m training a lot, so I’m eating a lot more ‘cause I feel like I have to or I’m gonna faint!” she said.

But the star’s “DWTS” diet is very health conscious – most of the time.

DWTS Corbin Bleu On The Paso Doble: “The gloves come off and I get to be raw, intense and fiery!”

Corbin Bleu has written a new blog at Access Hollywood today gearing us up for he and Karina Smrinoff’s Paso Doble. Watch out! He’s going shirtless and all gloves are off. More below and at the link!!

With this week 4 Paso Doble, the gloves come off and I get to be raw, intense and fiery!

At first, we were given “In The Hall of the Mountain King” as our song. Both Karina and I felt it was not a strong choice for the characters we wanted to portray in our Paso and it leaned towards comical. Karina then found this amazing song that has a beautiful Spanish guitar sound with castanets and continual changing rhythms. I love it!

So because of the song change, we didn’t have music to work with on Day 1, and every minute of rehearsal time counts when you only have a week. Karina used that time to start teaching me basic Paso positioning and a move called a twist turn, which I quickly found out is one of the hardest moves in ballroom! It requires perfect framing that changes positions as you and your partner rotate around the floor never letting go of each other’s hands.

It definitely took several days to become comfortable with it. As she continued choreographing and I continued developing my character, we realized the music at times becomes almost impossible to find the down beat. We had to take a lot of time just sitting and listening to the song to get it engrained in our bodies. As I listened to it, I thought it would be cool if in this dance we were in a fight. As always, Karina ran with it and turned it into an incredible piece! There’s even a moment where she slaps me in the dance! At first, we were just faking it, but I told her she should really do it to play up the anger. As intense as she is, she’s still a sweetheart and it took her a while to come to terms with actually striking me. She eventually got over it though and in the heat of the moment I think it makes for great theatre!

This dance will also be the first time I’m going shirtless!

Brant Daugherty Had No Idea Dancing With The Stars Could Be So Demanding (New Interview, Photos)

Brant Daugherty explains to TV Guide how he was mugged last week and what it was like to continue his rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars with pro Peta Murgatroyd. It was challenging especially with a new foot injury, but, with a lot of run throughs last Sunday night, they did it. More in detail below and at the link including how he feels about the competition. You can also see Peta and Brant in some new pictures from Sunday at the Daily Mail as well as some of the other cast members.

Did it have an impact on your rehearsals ahead of this past week?
Daugherty: It was just an unnecessary distraction more than anything else. It was just one more thing to think about on top of my hurt foot. It really got my head out of the game for a couple of days. And it made me worried that we weren’t going to be able to put on a good show.

Tell us about the foot injury. What caused it?
Daugherty: We’re not really sure. It started aching maybe an hour after our performance on Week 2. So I’m not sure if we did something that night and I just didn’t notice it until later because of the adrenaline, or if it was kind of a gradual injury that finally started affecting me. … We didn’t really have time to get an MRI done. The doctor thinks that I strained or sprained a muscle or ligament in my foot. He said getting an MRI really wouldn’t change his battle plan. So, he just said to rest it as much as I could and ice it, elevate it, and try to take care of it. It’s been getting better every day.

Obviously you were able to pull through, since you got the high score for the night. How did you feel about your routine last Monday?
Daugherty: It was pretty shocking to me. I never expected to be in that position. We run it so many times and we go over notes and we watch video [to] make sure that we’re doing what we need to be doing in rehearsals. But we’re never really sure how it’s going to play out once we’re doing it live in front of a crowd. I think to our credit, every week that we’ve been doing it, we kind of really come together on performance night. We were pretty worried about our rehearsals, honestly, especially with my foot. I could barely walk Saturday morning. So we were completely resigned to the fact that our dance was going to be mediocre. And that just really stressed me out.

How did it finally come together?
Daugherty: It was just a lot of hard work. [During] rehearsal Sunday night, we were about to call it a night. Peta asked me how I felt about it. I looked her in the eyes and I said, “I don’t feel good about this at all. I don’t feel like we have it yet. I don’t feel like I’m doing what I need to be doing, I don’t feel like we’ve had enough rehearsal time because of my foot, and I’m really worried. I don’t want to be average.” So she said, “OK, what do you want to do?” And I said, “Let’s just run it and run it and run it.” And we did it probably four or five times in a row, and by the end of it I finally said, “OK, I feel confident about this now.”

Jack Osbourne And Cheryl Burke Talk DWTS On The Ellen Show (Video)

On Friday, Ellen Degeneres interviewed Jack Osbourne And Cheryl Burke about Dancing With The Stars on her show. Jack talked of why he decided to do the show. He thought it was a great platform to get a message out there for Multiple Sclerosis. Plus, he wanted to dance while he still could. They also show pics of his baby daughter. So cute! Skip to the 25:00 minute mark to watch if interested. I hope these two have a good dance tonight. I have really enjoyed him on the show so far and his message.
