More details at E Online for why they think Elizabeth has the song she does!!
So, what do you think? I’m especially excited about Glee’s “Try A Little Tenderness:”, Katy Perry’s “Roar”, and Britney Spear’s “Work Bitch”!
I’m kissing you is such a beautiful song I will be in tears watching jack and Cheryl.I’m excited for Snooki’s jazz to work bitch.
Also I’m expecting a pretty amazing jive from Elizabeth with that song.
Elizabeth needs to embrace the saved by the bell cheese. So why they gave her that song.
I’m predicting a 29 for Elizabeth. Val is pretty amazing at jives and as long as Elizabeth keeps up with him (and doesn’t get ahead of the music) I could see the judges going ga-ga over her. I don’t usually think of Foxtrots as getting super high scores so unless Amber and Corbin have amazing frames Elizabeth may be the highest of the night.
Really looking forward to Jack and Bill though as I think the Waltz suits both of them very well.
I really love Elton John’s Your Song. I hope Peta uses a subtle and gentle dance style to mirror the song. Too many Contemporarys on the show are frenzied hodgepodges with limbs flailing about. That would totally ruin the mood of the song.
I’m betting the Brittany and Katy song won’t be sung or played live by the band.
I danced to I’m So Excited in clubs back in the day. Me and my enormous 80’s hair.
I think Jack and Bill will both shine on Monday and do well with their dances.
I had to google Jacks song I had never heard it before. It’s different that’s for sure. I didn’t like it at all, too dreary. I wonder if his story will be his miscarriage. I hope not.
I have to admit I was surprised with the song choice of Bill’s. Not sure if that song will make enough of an impact or not. But then that’s where Bill comes in, right?
I’m rather surprised that the song list was leaked – interesting.
I think Jack and Bill will both do well with their waltzes. I listened to Amber’s song, and while some parts feel like a foxtrot, others do not. It will be interesting to see how it turns out (though I expect Derek will work his usual magic). I also expect Corbin to do well.
There are some interesting song choices (given the theme, and based entirely on the titles) – Forget You? Work Bitch?
Leah + Tony + Contemporary could be a hot mess.
I am curious about what Christina’s story is with “Forget You”. Is her most memorable year the year she “forgot” about a certain someone? Or will she pull off a Kristin Cavalleri and say “that’s the song that was popular during that year”? Hmm..
I am preparing my tissues for Jack and Bill’s dances. I think those are gonna be some very moving performances.
I am so skeptical about Leah being able to pull this Contemporary off… I consider “Roar” a powerful song so she’s gonna have to really sell her performance. The last thing I would have expect is for them to use “Work Bitch” lol but if they had to give it to someone, then Snooki’s the girl. I can also see how that song ties to her most memorable year.
I hope Peta uses this song to create a smooth, heartfelt Contemporary routine rather than doing some frantic, all-lifts, circus-like dance.
The Foxtrot has never been a favorite dance of mine so I honestly don’t think I am gonna go crazy for Amber and Corbin’s unless they REALLY do something memorable. And theur songs aren’t really all that exciting.. they are nice songs though.
I like Val’s choreography for Jives so we’ll see if Elizabeth can pull it off. My gut is telling me though that it probably won’t ve 10 worthy. Something tells me we aren’t gonna be seeing a 10 yet……
Further comment on Leah and Tony Contemporary, http://vinesnow.com/post/62371003000/little-cheetah-roar-source-vinesnow-com
Considering my bias against “Most Memorable Year”, personal story week, or whatever they choose to call it, I don’t forsee any legitimate 10s on Monday night. We might get a hormonal 10 from CAI, but that doesn’t count in my book.
Elizabeth and “I’m So Excited” seem like an oxymoron. Val’s skill with the Jive notwithstanding, I can’t imagine the long-limbed, googly-eyed, ballet-trained Elizabeth pulling off the sparkling personality or sharp kicks and flicks required in the jive.
Brant and Leah doing Contemporary has “hot mess” written all over it. Leah doesn’t have the physical gumption to back up all the face she’s been giving and Peta wouldn’t know subtle if it bit her in the behind. If Peta wants a heartfelt contemporary routine for Brant, she better ask Tristan to do the choreography.
Jack and Bill should do well. The waltz is right up their alley, and Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” is solidly in my demographic. If I reach for a Kleenex during anyone’s dance, it will be for Bill and Emma.
I love Corbin and Amber, and Foxtrots are a favorite of mine. I’m nowhere near as big a fan of Rascall Flats as Karina seems to be, but I expect to at least be able to enjoy both of these performances.
Since I’m totally indifferent to Brittany Spears and Cee Lo Green, it’s up to Christina and Nicole to impress me with their dancing because their music doesn’t resonate with me at all.
Isn’t Amber gonna sing the song (on tape of course) that she n Derek r dancing too?
@CC, I think Christina’s song may have something to so with her being on The Voice, and Cee Lo being a judge.
It looks like they got Elizabeth, Christina, and Snooki to be the entertainers this week. It might be a snooze fest with all the slow dances. I don’t like the song they gave Elizabeth…way too old. Corbin and Amber have the most technical dances with the foxtrot. I can see them nitpicking at Amber this week.
@Cidra – I just finished watching Billy Joel perform “She Always a Woman To Me” and I got teary eyed during that! I can’t imagine me having a dry eye during Bill and Emma’s performance on Monday night.
Bill has a way of pulling the audience into his every move and this Monday night will be no exception.
I love “She Always a Woman To Me” as well. I think that is my favorite Billy Joel song! *can’t wait to see how Bill and Emma dance to it!
BTW, I can’t see Brant and Leah doing contemporary dances either. I hope they prove us wrong, but, I doubt it.
Wow, can’t believe they leaked all the songs for this week. TBTB must really read this site-lol
I am interested to see if they will play Amber’s track to “Try A Little Tenderness” while she and Derek perform their Foxtrot. This team is full of charisma, mix it with elegance and this could be a great performance.
Lots of interesting song choices this week. All the teams seem to be excited about their routines this week.
Looking forward to a great show.
Is this the first time this happened? From what I can remember, the celebs and their partners would say the dance style assigned to them but not the music. Tptb is surely doing many things differently this season.
I would have thought that Christina’s most memorable year would be the year she was married, pregnant and divorced, and not the job on The Voice..
TPTB leaked some songs during the all-star season – in fact, it became a bit of a race between them & us to see who could leak them first. The week they picked each other’s dance styles was one – I remember having some random person on Twitter blowing me up with “Your list is wrong, Sabrina has “Disco Inferno”, go check @dancingabc tweets!!!” and me telling them “Beware ambiguously-worded tweets – and work on your reading comprehension skills.”
I don’t foresee Elizabeth handling the jive well, but I’m sure the judges will gush nonetheless. I’m hoping Leah & Tony totally bungle their contemporary and get hosed – they’re one couple that could use a piece of humble pie these days. I’m interested (and skeptical) about how Christina is gonna spin her song choice – I find “my most memorable year is the year I got asked to do The Voice” to be a rather vapid explanation, and think it’s more likely that “my most memorable year was the year I had the strength to walk away from an unhealthy relationship” is gonna come into play. Whichever it is, I’m not sure she picked a song that’s going to illicit a lot of empathy from viewers – I think Jack & Bill have that market cornered, and Jack in particular may have a breakthrough week…which is good, because I think he needs one. I think I’m actually most excited about Snooki’s jazz, though – love the song, and I think Sasha may be able to really have fun with the choreo.
Courtney – Remember Marks previous partner Kristin Cavilieri memorable year, The year she graduated HS and moved to LA, it was lame and they got eliminated. If Mark was smart he would talk Christina out of any thing similar to that. Just saying… I personally don’t care if Christina gets eliminated this week, her and Mark can hit the door for all I care.
Lol Sandy, I remember leaking Kristin’s song and everyone going “WTF???” because it was such a lame choice for “most memorable year” week. Honestly, if I were Mark, I would have steered Christina toward one of her own songs – probably “A.M. to P.M.”. I think “Forget You” got played out on DWTS when we saw Kirstie cha-cha to it 10+ times in season 12. But yeah, I’m with you Sandy – Christina could go home this week and I wouldn’t shed any tears. Ditto for Leah.
In an interview Monday night Christina said her most memorable year had a mix of emotions. I agree with Courtney in that it will have to do with her past relationship. She was married, had her little girl and left her relationship.
Her daughter is her life but she was able to move on.
I also have mixed emotions about their most memorable year. It is hard for the judges to judge fairly depending on their “memory”. Should be an interesting night.
I don’t know maybe Christina chose “Forget You” because of when she divorced Violet’s dad and now she had to raise her daughter on her own. Idk that kinda makes sense or not. Anyways there’s a new interview of Christina at rehearsal, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1-QLNdHVpE I apologize if I wasn’t supposed to post the link in the comment section I don’t know where to post it.
I think Amber’s most memorable year might be with what she said on MTV’s “This Is How I Made It” show. Using her “Try A Little Tenderness” I think is cute.
I agree Courtney. I still think Christina should’ve of picked on her own songs. I think Am to Pm of Say I would’ve worked. Say I might fit w/ the memorable she picked.
I’m curious to see how Elizabeth does with hers because on Save By The Bell. She seemed more free when they that episode. Especially during the aerobics parts. She might do good.
I don’t really care for Corbin’s song choice. It might the one Rascal Flatts song I don’t like. Curious to see his moment. I hope it don’t come out cheesy.
Snooki I’m really curious to see.
Leah and Brant are meh to me. So it will be interesting.
I adore Bill and Jack. So they can’t go no wrong. lol
Agree with you, Vogue(comment #10) Also interested in seeing Jack & Cheryl’s Waltz
I just realized we have a ‘personal story’ week with no rumbas.
Yeah, no rumbas to dead people. Sorry if that seems unfeeling, but you can only take so much of that.
Guess they replaced the Rumbas with the Contemporary dances. Much better, imo. I can only take so many Rumbas in one night.
KarenT, thank you for finding the silver lining for me — no rumbas on personal story night. 😛
CC, I agree. So it looks like we’ve found a good reason to keep contemporary. LOL Not a big rumba fan to begin with, I found those “rumbas for the dead” just the worst things, ever. Now thanks to contemporary we’ll get the proper character of rumba back. Maybe they’ll be less painful to watch.
