DWTS Season 17, Week 5 – Let’s Recap Tonight’s Show!! (SPOILERS)
Every week I’m dismayed that people STILL don’t understand how this show works. The only thing different this week is that Tom told us up front that a female celeb was the low vote getter. THAT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN A WOMAN IS GOING HOME!! I don’t know how many more times I can explain this. 🙂
The votes from last week AND the judges scores from tonight determine who goes home. Tom did NOT say a woman was going home, he said a woman was the low vote getter and MIGHT go home depending on the scores. All they are doing is ramping up the drama. If I were a betting woman, I would say Christina had the lowest number of votes, but they pimped and overscored her with a 28 and now someone else is going home. Like Bill or Brant. I would even bet that they low ball one of the women – Leah or Amber – for the sake of drama, and Bill or Brant still goes home.
I guess we will see soon. Discuss. 🙂
ETA: My odds are looking kinda good….
ETA2: Well, now it looks like it might be Bill or Leah…but they may still get the shocker. Hard to say. LOL at the package about ringers. Some people have very short memories.
ETA3: Liz does a kinda crappy Jive, gets overscored by Len after he lowballs Amber…and then is told she’s in jeopardy. Shit just got real. Let’s see…put Liz, Amber and Christina in jeopardy and send Christina home. I’m often wrong, but I like to play. 🙂
SPOILER Alert!!
This is where I gloat. Courtney and I have been saying for weeks that Christina and Liz were in trouble and both, along with Leah, were in jeopardy.
And Christina, with her high score of the night, was eliminated.
Discuss.
I knew that would be a bad contemporary the second I heard she was dancing to Roar earlier this week.
What! Tony has never done contemporary? Wasn’t his freestyle with Melissa supposed to be contemporary?
I think it may still be a woman and Leah might be going home. I still think Bill is safe this week.
I get that but for me the announcement ruined the show. I was all set to enjoy the stories & dances but now I’m annoyed at TPTB.
Well that was a whopping big bowl of awkward!
What was that Leah? You say you’re not a dancer! I had no idea!
So Christina gets saved again. I really don’t get why she continues to get the “safe” from judges. If she’s not getting the votes. She’s not. *Ugh*
I thought Leah was decent. The score they gave her kinda just proved our points that Christina isn’t getting the votes from viewers.
Oh my goodness.. really? Mario Lopez. They’re really trying to save her.
Omg, that is ridiculous pimping of Elizabeth Berkley. I am a fan of Val ‘s and even I think this is insane! Going to turn the tv off before they dance.
I wasn’t sure if that was a lift or not from Karina at the beginning. It kinda looked like it but then her dress was on the way. However, if they actually change their score just because Carrie Ann was wrong I will be upset because they have called lifts before that weren’t lifts and there wasn’t any fuzz about it. -_-
Ugh this show irritates me so much sometimes……..
What makes everyone think that Christina is not getting the votes. I think it is Leah that is not getting the votes.
I love Bill but I thought Leah did just as the same as him. So the scores doing really add up.
So I’m guessing Amber is 2nd to last and Elizabeth is last???
Mark just doesn’t know how to dress his partners! I remember he managed to make Aly look like a frumpy old maid…and what was this costume tonight!?!?!?! Neon fringe just seemed out of place!
Ok…sorry I’m snarky tonight…
On the positive front…I thought Bill’s waltz, while not “perfect” was such a great expression of his love for his wife…first one I got teary on… Go Bill!
I think they BOTH aren’t getting the votes. But it seems like they want to save Christina more than Leah.
*don’t* add up. lol
@Jann – Not to mention Mark’s hair. WTH is up with that.
Snooki was great. I thought she did better than the first dancers except Corbin.
Dang! Snooki worked it! That was WAY more entertaining than Christina’s “10 worthy” chachacha.
Interesting that they did a mini feature on whether previous dance experience is a plus or a minus.
If Mark took Jules comment about not standing out to heart maybe he would have worn a black vest instead of neon glow in the dark green. LOL
Interesting comments from the pros. I think Tony (and possibly a couple of the other pros) were speaking based on their partner this season. I bet that if Tony had a partner with dance experience this season, he would have said it wasn’t really an advantage. Plus, he *really* doesn’t remember other seasons, if he thinks that dance experience guarantees you a spot in the finals.
agree with CC and annie if christina got a 10 snooki should had two
Snooki should’ve gotten at least one 10.
Brant did much better than I expected. Great job.
Brant, Snooki, and Corbin have been my favorites tonight. Pretty impressed by Peta’s contemporary tonight.
I get that it’s the style; really, I do. But WHY does contemporary have to mean “FLAIL EVERYWHERE”???
Tony won with a ringer….but that’s okay I guess. 🙂
Brant did better than I thought he would. Good for him.
Oh wow. I’m impressed. Brant did really good. I really felt that performance. Surprised more with Peta for choreographing that! Based on CAI’s comment I thought she was gonna whip out the 10.
I hate when they do those “dance experience” vs. “Non-dance experience” segments. I love the pros that don’t have the “ringers” complain and then change their tune on the seasons when they have them lol.
good job brant i thought he would got a 10
I’m impressed – that was some of Peta’s better choreography. It was much better than I expected (and *a lot* better than Leah).
I really don’t like Christina…she seems snotty! I hope it is her that goes. I think Julianne was right last week and I didn’t like Mark and Christina’s package where they talked about it. Bill was great! I didn’t think I would like Snooki, but I really do!
You said: ” I don’t know how many more times I can explain this.”
We are 90 minutes into this and you only explained it once, unless you are in an auditorium that nobody else knows about.
Suffice to say, it’s a tough one tonight. It’s really about the popular vote from last week, which is the big unknown. Likely the least popular or lesser-known folks. It’s all relative, as my popular ones are somebody else’s unknowns…
Amber did great. Len is losing it. Christina did not deserve a 10 but Amber gets a 7? Alright.
I knew Len wasn’t going to like that, and was expecting the 7. I’m just happy he managed to voice his criticism in a nice way (unlike with Shawn’s samba and Kelli’s paso).
A 7 urgh len
Agreed Annie! Len needs another two more weeks off. It wasn’t a traditional Foxtrot but a 7 is way too low.
The way they have been pimping this jive of Elizabeth and Val for the whole show, it better end up being the best jive the show has ever seen…… (rolling my eyes, and ready to be disappointed)
As much as I enjoyed Corbin’s FT, he was not in hold anymore than Amber. Oh the manipulation.
Annie is totally right. Christina gets a 10, but Amber gets a 7? Whatever, Len.
And now, they’re going to give Elizabeth a 30.
I love ya Len. You’re my favorite judge, which is kind of like saying flaying is my favorite form of torture, but still, that 7 is not warranted.
This this week was the one where he has to give Derek a low score for not enough dance style. He has one week every season where he does this.
Well, at least it’s out of the way.
It feels like they are building Liz up for a perfect score.
Corbin wasn’t in hold. Bill wasn’t. Snooki wasn’t but yet he nitpicks Amber? Brant had mistakes too.
I really hope Len hates this frippery that is Liz’s jive. That beginning was totally unnecessary. Also, just like last week with Brant getting shirtless, there’s NO reason for Val to be unbuttoned. Not doing anything for this dance.
Awww come on folks…if you are a Derek fan, you know to expect this from Len. I think he thinks he is the “great equalizer”…really that dance was the same as Leahs. I feel a little sorry for her, because she has been through a lot, and it seems to me that this season they have more “performers” on than normal.I thought she looked like was going to cry, and covers that up with anger. She obviously has no dance experience and I just see her as so beaten down, she needs a coach who can lift her up and I just don’t know that Tony is capable of that. I know she said she picked him, probably saw him as kind, but I don’t know that he challenges her…just my thoughts…lol
That should have been a question mark after Leah…you know sarcastic…lol and can I just say…Val and his arrogance…I don’t know.
I didn’t like Elizabeth and Val’s Jive. The scores are reasonable. I thought it should’ve been all 8s.
ALL hype for that? It wasn’t even that great (as expected) .
And that may just be the most corny (corniest?.. whatever the word is) opening of a dance EVER.
Elizabeth’s jive kicks and movements were awkward and she should have received a top score of 8.
Urgh, the pimping of Elizabeth is shameful. I sure hope she goes tonight, and am hopeful now she is in jeopardy.
With all the mistakes Elizabeth had Len still gave her a 9. I’m really starting to believe what all Derek fans say about him. Mhmm….
Len scored Liz better than Amber? In what universe? And where was this Len when Christina did some dance behind bars that I don’t even know the style??
Look, he had a point and Derek knows it. But a 7?? What an asshole. Only on Derek. Anyone else would get an 8.
I am a fan of amber and that 7 from Len was crazy should have given her a 9 or somethin..and then he gave Elizabeth a 9
I literally couldn’t enjoy that Jive because I was so distracted by those horrible dropped crotch pants Val had on. I seriously hate that style. It looks like the wearer has kept their diaper on too long and it needs changed now!
Len’s whole “let’s give Derek a 7” routine is getting old. I’m de-sensitized to it by now. I know there are fans out there that are riled up. I’m just happy Len got his “pick on Derek” score out of the way. Hopefully it doesn’t show up again for the rest of the season.
And this is where I say “I told you so”.
How can you be in the category of “not necessarily the bottom two”…so what the REAL bottom two, are safe and the marginal bottom two are not?
Explain that one more time PH! And our shocking elimination just happened.
So glad Christina went home. After those high sympathy score from the judges she needed to go home.
You know part of that is Mark’s fault.
But now it’s time for me to start racking up my votes for Bill and Emma to continue to dance on….
I knew that was coming. I would have been happy with any of the last three women standing going home.
I feel bad for being so happy 🙂 (actually not so much)
i’m happy i was right mark didn’t expect tho
I personally think that was a real bottom two, DooWop, but we won’t know until next week. We don’t know the bottom two, for sure, we just know that, despite being horribly overscored, Christina was the bottom. Clearly she wasn’t getting the votes as Court and I have been saying all along.
But I will say it again – just because someone starts the night on the bottom and they announce a woman is going home, it doesn’t mean that’s what will happen.
BTW… Did anyone catch what next week’s theme is? I couldn’t hear so well. Is it the side by side challenge?
I don’t really feel bad being happy because the scores tonight annoyed me. It as they felt they needed to over-score the ones that aren’t getting viewers votes since week 1.
Wait, did they renumber the Phone lines or were they announced wrong at the end of the show?
Leah and Tony should be 3411 – Listed as 3403
Amber and Derek should be 3407 – Listed as 3408
Bill and Emma should be 3409 – Listed as 3405
Snookie and Sasha should be 3412 – Listed as 3406
Brant and Peta should be 3403 – Listed as 3407
Corbin and Karina should be 3406 – Listed as 3404
Elizabeth and Val should be 3405 – Listed as 3409
Micky, you are new here, OBVIOUSLY, so shut it until you’ve read here for a while. You get ONE more chance not to be an asshole.
And it’s about the vote AND THE SCORES. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
I figured Christina was going home tonight…the ten from Len felt weird and Carrie Ann Inaba mention in her blog last week that Christina isn’t connecting with viewers. I thought that was the inside info about whose getting the votes. It seems like Mark is a hit or miss with people each season.
Hmm, after tonight’s scoring, I thought it would be Leah going . I am happy she is still there .I am not sad about Christina going, I just don’t get anything personality or dance ability- wise from here, she was always “meh” to me.
I’m sorry but when a person has been called in the “Not Necessarily the Bottom Two” for three weeks in a row it is not really shocking when they go home. Add that to the blatant over scoring and the fact she still went home says to me she was not getting the votes.
People notice when you fake clap and respond to it.
Did anyone else notice Derek and Amber’s voting number was 3408? When they flashed the ending screen? Was that just a typo?
Ok…here is the part of Len’s “flagrant underscore” that I PARTICULARLY hated….
“I tell you Jack and Corbin (et al) they worked their BUTTS off learning hold…”
Really Len? You were there? And, by inference, are you saying that the reason Amber didn’t have “enough hold” for you is that she didn’t work hard enough?!?!?! ARRRRRGGGGHHHH! She has shown in previous weeks that she is lovely in hold…and WORKS at least as hard as any of those boys you named….
I get that he wasn’t a fan of the overall percentage of “classic foxtrot” – but just SAY that…don’t imply that she didn’t work hard enough…
Now I am really cranky….except I was glad Christina went home….
Christina should’ve been paired with Val imo. Oh well as long as Amber and Cobrin make it to the finals then I’m good.
Well, *that* was interesting. Christina obviously wasn’t getting the votes – and I think Elizabeth is struggling in that department as well. I’m not sure if Leah is also struggling (just not as much as Christina) or if she was put in jeopardy for the drama.
Must be tough on the celebs (at least ego) when they think they are popular with fans, a la Sabrina Bryan and now Christina, and then get voted off even when the judges support them. But I guess they can rationalize that’s it not their core fan demographic that is voting.
I do like Elizabeth and Leah, but Final 3: Amber, Corbin and Snooki??
There was 6 points difference between Leah and Christina – clearly Leah is getting the votes AND Christina is not.
@Jann – That’s the part that annoyed me too. As if he was there and knew what each one of them were doing. I get the guy celebs have it harder than the females because they have to lead but the girls work just as hard too.
I’m finally realizing all the “I told you so” regarding Len and Derek. I always thought y’all were crazy LOL and Len never had his “give a Derek a low score” week.
Also Elizabeth, Leah and Brant are still to me not getting the votes.
I think Corbin, Amber, Snooki, Bill and Jack are consistent and are probably gaining “new” viewers weekly.
Amber was not lowballed, Thank you Len a well deserved 7. Corbin did a lift and lift or not that 10 wasn’t deserved. IDK why so many of you are talking crap about Elizabeth week after week just admit you don’t like her. Elizabeth dances well she should have gotten all 9’s.Christina’s 10 wasn’t deserved either Christina has been in jeopardy for weeks so it was her time. Just hope Elizabeth can pull in the votes and go to the finals and I will be the one laughing. Elizabeth gets 20 to 30 votes a week from me so I just maybe helping her go Lizzie and go home Brant.
So now that the show put up the wrong phone numbers for the dances (I believe the voiceover numbers were correct, but the list onscreen at the end was all wrong) what is the show going to do? Just not count any phone votes? Do you think they will even acknowledge the screw-up next week?
So glad Bill was safe! He’s so adorable, he just makes me smile!
And I thought Corbin’s foxtrot was really fabulous, the best he’s danced so far. I think he’s becoming more likable as well. I’ve liked their packages the last couple of weeks, they don’t seem overstressed anymore. I think he has a real chance to win if this continues.
While Bill is not the best dancer, he is the one with the most heart, so I’m happy he’s safe. I am good with Christina going and Leah and Elizabeth could be next and I’d be fine with that as well.
Brant did better than I expected and jack is all heart as well. Overall not unhappy with tonights results and Bill still gets all of my votes cause i think he still needs them.
I was really expecting the judges to overscore Elizabeth’s Jive so when I saw an 8 and no 10 I was at least content with that – especially as it wasn’t that sharp and not as dynamic as the rest of the performances. Kinda surprised Val went really into the whole SBTB thing with that little opening skit…wonder if the producers asked him to do it.
I don’t know what it is but every week I find myself really liking Snooki’s performances! Not sure how many votes she’s pulling in but I hope she sticks around for a while.
Oh boy. Fanboy alert!! Fanboy alert!! Watch your step, Matt, or you won’t have to worry about people talking “crap” about Elizabeth.
I love the friendship between emma and bill! its soo cute. and i love corbin and karina’s dancing. karina’s always been my favorite pro and i might have to add emma to that list… she just seems so sweet. wouldn’t mind a snooki, bill, and corbin final.
I guess I’m glad Christina is gone, but honestly I would have been happy with any of the bottom three going home. Elizabeth and Leah really annoy me.
Now Leah needs to get up off her whiney (IMO) butt and learn some dances and Tony–you’ve been given an extra shot—use it!
That announcement at the opening, put me off on the whole evening. Are the viewer numbers down so bad, they have to “taunt” us as the show begins? I am fast losing interest.
…and thanks PH. After looking at the numbers of course Mark/CM were real bottom two, but I think Elizabeth is too! Following their dance, my guests who were visiting this evening–well we all gave them 8s across the board.
Wonder if Mark will blame Julianne? 😉
My first time watching dancing with the stars was last season and i atleast liked 2 or 3 of the couples my favorite was zendaya this season i only like amber/Derek the rest are just so boring me.
@Matt. if Amber deserved a 7 as you say, then Elizabeth disnt deserve a single 9. Her kicks weren’t sharp and she stumbled at the beginning. Clearly everyone has their own opinions. Just voice your own without criticizing orhers’.
I never watched Saved by the Bell, so when Elizabeth said she sang a song on the show, I was like, “Oh, I didn’t know she can sing. That’s nice”. And then she screeched the beginning of that song and I realized, “Oh, she can’t sing- AT ALL!!” I’m assuming SBTB had her lip-synch? Why, why, why did Val have that as the beginning of their dance? I can never un-hear that screech!
@DooWop, their fanbase already has given her complete and total blame for them being eliminated. Why not Mark? He proved in their package that he didn’t even TRY to understand what she was saying.
And kind of telling that the 3 contestants that people on here have consistently saying that they aren’t connecting with, are the 3 that they placed in jeopardy? And as it’s been stated, being placed in jeopardy as many times as C and M have, it’s not a shocking elimination.
Looking back on the dance. I agree it wasn’t a Foxtrot and Len had a point. I still don’t think it deserved a 7. It isn’t like other dancers were complete dances. Elizabeth Jive didn’t seem like a Jive to me. It had 3 steps at the most and she got a 9.
Did anyone get the theme for next week? I think I heard “All-Star Challenge” dances????
I also wonder about the wrong #s thing. I know someone I follow on twitter said they voted Brant but it ended up being Amber’s #s.
If any other voters are like myself Leah will be following shortly behind Christina. The attitude both Tony and Leah gave during their judging really turned me off and left a nasty I burped up two day old tuna fish taste in my mouth. It might also be why more people are pulling towards Bill. It may be a dancing show but attitude really means a lot. If Bill leaves and Leah stays not only will I riot with Courtney with Legos and not being able to find your shoes but I will bring Cloris Leachman with us.
Val is no MPG.
Mark will blame anyone that does not have the name Mark.
And Amber was so under scored by Len it is not even funny. Season after season Len has done this. It is also time for Len to pull out the “frippery” card. Was it 3 10’s worthy? Maybe not but that 7 plus Len calling Amber out on not working her butt off as hard as the others doing Foxtrot did nothing but peeve off her and Derek’s fans enough to vote their butts off.
And Len. I would love to see Derek in your seat but I do not want you anywhere near the dance floor.
God, I am so glad Mark blocked me on Twitter.. I wouldn’t be able to tolerate the man’s Tweets tonight…
Oh, it had foxtrot components, just not enough for Len. Even so, giving Liz a higher score than Amber is ridiculous.
Christina’s elimination wasn’t shocking to me. The moment Len gave her that undeserved 10, I had a feeling she was going home. Although I felt she had potential, her attitude on the show made me kind of dislike her.
Out of all the dances tonight, I liked Bill, Snooki, and Jack’s the best. In terms of Elizabeth and Val, I was disappointed with their jive, but I have to admit that as a huge Saved by the Bell fan, I loved the song, concept, and the cheesy opening.
Corbin was great and I thought Amber did a good job, but I wasn’t particularly a fan of her foxtrot. However, I don’t think it deserved a 7 from Len.
Leah and Tony’s so-called contemporary dance was the worst of the night in my opinion. From the song to the awkward lifts, it was a mess. Also, as much as I like Leah, I wish she would stop reminding us that she’s not a dancer because neither is Bill and rather than complain, he’s just going out there and giving it his all.
Who was the other blond troupe dancing tonight? I know Whitney, Lindsay, Sharna…. But I don’t know the other blond……
I’m confused. Obviously Christina was over scored by A LOT tonight but yet she still goes home. I can only assume the judges were told to score her high to try to protect her. Did they not score Leah low enough? I know Leah might not have been in the real bottom two, but I can’t think of anyone else who might have protected Christina. Why go to the bother of over scoring Christina if it didn’t do any good?
@Lori .. I think it was Tyne. She tweeted she was gonna dance in some bits in between breaks so I think it was her
I agree Heidi. I just watched it over again. It did. I guess Len has other ideas. Totally agree on Liz getting a 9. She stumbled a lot and I mean a lot. I was shocked she still got 9.
@Stephanie – Thank God you said it. I don’t get why Leah complains about that weekly. It isn’t as Bill or Jack are too but they try really hard every week and we never see it in their package complaining. I just wish she would let go and do the dance. I feel she holds back a lot and just doesn’t commit to the dances.
@Lori: Tyne 😛
@ Lori Tyne?
Wow, I can’t say I’m saddened by Christina and Mark’s elimination. I was getting my fill of her ego and I thought their dance tonight was cringe worthy through out. Even still, I was shocked. Though Heidi and Court have been saying for several weeks there would be a surprise elimination and that is exactly what happened. Wow just wow. Just please Mark, do not blame this on Julianne’s judging last week. It wouldn’t be right. So many factors played into it.
Lori was it Tyne? Sometimes hard to tell in short clips.
Well, IMO the least likable people were in jeopardy tonight. I could have had all 3 go home and seen double dances from the rest of the cast instead next week:)
I thought Christina and Leah’s attitudes were even worse than usual tonight. Christina saying in the package she thought Julianne was dissing her shows extreme self indulgence. There have been many debates over what Julianne said, but no one ever said she was dissing Christina, the opposite in my opinion. Leah continuing the “I’m not a dancer” talk (fueled by Tony too probably because he loves to whine when he doesn’t have a person with any experience). Who cares? Other people with no experience have won the show. Quit complaining and just have fun and work at it. Honestly, her problem isn’t no dance experience, it’s Tony’s horrible choreography. That mess was the worst attempt at contemporary ever on the show. Not the theme, but the actual dancing. And Leah has some ability too. Just horrible.
I am a little surprised with that score Christina went home. The numbers post will be interesting. But I’m not surprised she left the show early. Even Leah and Elizabeth would have fans in the demographic of the show. But Christina not so much, and then with not much of a career going right now to have fans plus the attitude = going home early. Mark also didn’t do a great job at creating wow factor dances this seasons but I did enjoy tonight’s more than the other weeks.
Was surprised by Brant and Peta, she did a decent job with the choreography and his fluidity throughout was impressive. Jack and Bill had lovely waltzes with better technique than I expected. Snooki was fun as usual, I hope she sticks around. Elizabeth was worse at the jive than I expected but I appreciated that she came more alive in her performance. But the partnership is still just awkward. Corbin was good as always but I didn’t like the song for a foxtrot and the performance was forgettable unfortunately. And I enjoyed Amber as usual. I actually am not that mad at the scores. Whatever, it’s Len’s lowball-Derek-when-he-had-a-bit-less-content-than usual week 😛 We know these judges aren’t fair. Compared to others it was a bad score. But it didn’t send her home. And the 10 was a bit high too, but then again, I didn’t think any 10s were deserved tonight. I would have given Corbin one last week but no dances this week.
As for the stories, for the most part the guys outdid the girl celebs. Bill, Jack, and Brant were all so sweet, loved it.
Looking at various social media sites, “news” sites, etc, Elizabeth seems to be getting attention for the whole SBTB theme (the most attention she’s gotten this season probably) so I can see them lasting another week. Since they already played the SBTB card though Val better come up with something else to draw attention.
A Showgirls tribute might come soon Alabama.
I voted Amber and my votes went to Christina Milian. How’s that for your votes not counting? I did it twice with a second account and got the same result. At least my non-votes went to a non-star. I have been irritated with the new format, irritated with the judges for their ridiculous scoring week after week and now I’m furious. What on earth are they going to do about it? Not send anyone home next week and have a double elimination the following week? Oh wait. . .how will that work?
I won’t say anything about Len. It’s already been said.
Anyone know the theme for next week? Thanks.
Well Christina, do you see where arrogance can take you!
@EPMusic I totally had the same vibe about Tony and Leah as well.
I get that they had this whole package of “Dancer vs. Non-dancer” debate but to be honest, I feel kind of bad for the people with “dance experience” like Corbin, Amber (somewhat), Elizabeth because the people with non-dance experience (aka Leah) are dragging it out like they should be there over them.
The one thing I noticed that bothered me was Tony and Leah’s faces when Brooke was interviewing Christina about her “music video” experience, I get that Leah has no dance experience, either does Bill or a few of the other people still left but you don’t see them complaining during their packages or while getting their scores but they just come off really bitchy which turns me off.
My favourites besides Corbin and Amber (I love Glee and HSM prior to this show) is Bill and Snooki! Yes, they may not be as technically great as the others but they’re having fun and improving which makes me want to root for them and vote for them, especially Bill! Leah is just turning me off as well as Tony. I just don’t like that whole vibe I’m getting from them.
I loved Corbin and Karina’s foxtrot and I played it back in slow motion and never saw a lift. I wish the show had at least played it back even if CA couldn’t change her score. What annoys me is that CA uses her lift card at times and other times not. I would like to know if this is her rule or a rule for DWTS? If it’s a rule for DWTS then why do the other two judges not use it?
I also thought Amber was great and Len had to pull the same card he always does for Derek. The 7 was so unwarranted. I really hope both Corbin and Amber make the finals.
I surprisingly enjoyed Brant’s number as well and Peta surprised me with this piece of choreograph as most times I don’t care for hers.
I was not surprised to see Christina go and was more surprised when Len gave her a 10.
Nothing annoyed me more than the pimping of Elizabeth. It started last week with the uncomfortable starting to try and get people to see this connection that I don’t see. Tonight they pulled out all the stops and for me only made her less appealing and it feels like overkill on their part to get people to feel this connection. After all the fan fare I expected an amazing piece, but I didn’t like it at all. It took way to long to even start dancing. I thought Len didn’t like all that stuff, but he gives her a 9 and Amber a 7. Will never understand him ever.
I continue to like Bill and Emma. Their dance was so loving and simply a man telling his wife how much he loved her.
I liked Snooki/Nicole and Jack as well. Leah I am not feeling.
Almost forgot – all the telephone numbers were messed up when they said to check them on the score sheet. When I made my first calls I just normally keep hitting redial, but I know I got far more in than I was suppose to. It eventually was corrected, but I don’t know how many counted. There was obviously a glitch in the system. I have no idea how they will handle this since scoring is not going to be right at least for the phones. I have seen messages online where people say the online system isn’t always right for them. I have not had a problem myself, but have not done my online voting yet.
Anyone else freaked out by Tony’s eyebrows this season? Or have they always been like that? I can’t help but look at them whenever he’s on the screen.
urgh tony is winning the award for most annoying pros? quit complaining about having to choreo contemp (this btw was one of the most terrible ones i’ve seen ever) for a ‘non-dancer’. (did anyone catch his total bitch face whine when brooke was interviewing the celebs wrt to the whole dance experience?!).
even peta choreographed her first contemp ever with a ‘non-dancer’ too and this was miles and miles ahead of leah’s. it didn’t have terribly messy lifts (thank you peta for learning from last week) and it had actual fluidity and emotion. who else thinks tony might just be one of the least talented pros around? (unless of course w a ringer!!). emma has a ‘non-dancer’ in bill but she is also doing a terrific job!!
that being said, i was really pleasantly surprised by most of the dancers tonight. would’ve been fine if len gave both amber&elizabeth an ‘8’ 🙁
i think the bottom two this week might just be the bottom two next week TBH. and i won’t be sad if either of them go.
Although I feel Len underscored Amber, he has been a fan of Elizabeth’s from the beginning. I think it has something to do with her height.
Loved this week! But sooooooo sad about the truly shocking elim I think leah and tonnny were the best this week because I realy love that song and she is so funny I was really excited to see the troupe they were great I especially liked jamyz he deserves to be the pro next season I bet he wins season 18 I fee l really bad four Christina cause she seems lyke a sweetheart I cant stand karina and corbin karina has such a huge ego and should be impeached immediatellly
I would have preferred Elizabeth be eliminated tonight instead of Christina, but hopefully she will go next week. Her routine tonight was embarrassing to watch, frankly. That opening was painful.
I’m always surprised by Nicole and Sasha, so have to give them a couple of my votes, but mostly I vote for Amber and Derek; and Corbin and Karina. At this point in the competition, for me, it is important to vote for the best dancers. So, even though I admire Bill, I’m not going to spend my votes on him. I would hate to see Amber or Corbin go home because of splitting votes with Bill.
As an aside, I missed the very beginning, so not sure if they introduced the new male troupe member. At first I thought it was Gleb with his hair slicked back, but it wasn’t. I admit, my eyes were not focusing very well….allergies got me today.
I’m looking forward to the numbers post, perhaps it will all make more sense. I sure can’t reconcile the praise going to Elizabeth.
I had a feeling it was going to come down to Leah and Christina, although I was still a little surprised that even Leah is getting that many more votes. Sure she is occasionally funny but mostly ugh. After that train wreck of a contemporary and Tony’s attitude I can’t wait to see her go go go go.
I had a feeling Peta would pull through on this dance, since she is one of the few pros with a comparable background, having done ballet for so many years. Good character and emotion and the lifts worked around Brant’s injury well and felt fairly organic. That being said, even without the background in contemporary, Tony still can’t be excused for that hot mess. He is always terrible when it comes to lifts and their disjointed feeling, and really I thought they were so awkward that I just cringed the whole time. Plus his comments about guaranteed semi-finals? Ugh, I actually talked at my tv when he said that one.
I really enjoyed Snooki, Jack, Bill, and Amber, although I also felt icky about Corbin’s story since it really seemed like they pulled that out of his ass to get an emotional story – but the dance itself was good. I laughed at Elizabeth, sometimes while cringing.
I have to say that I feel bad for Christina. She may or may not be a bitch, but that was a huge piece of humble pie and that kind of blow to the ego can’t feel good. That being said, it’s happened before and she just didn’t connect with people despite her performance level. I do think if the audience had voted based on tonight’s dancing and packages we may have seen Leah gone and Christina saved to dance at least another week. But it’s not, and so it goes.
I’m curious, was the dance that Tony and Melissa did in their freestyle not somewhat contemporary? He says he’s never choreographed one but..
I’m probably in the minority tonight, but here’s my take. Overall everyone improved, except Leah. Her dance coupled with her attitude should have sent her packing, but I guess she’s safe to dance another week. I think Christina is a good dancer who had the potential to be a great one. Brant had the best contemporary this season, Bill and Jack both gave good performances. Elizabeth was middle of the road for me and I actually agreed with Len, there wasn’t enough Foxtrot in Amber’s dance. Corbin is amazing to watch.
I am most impressed with and will continue to vote for Nicole to go as far as she can.
I’m really trying to love this season, but it’s not happening for me. Perhaps I was burned to bad by Season 16’s outcome (let’s throw the votes out). Anyway, I really watch this show for more of the “dancing” than the “with the stars” part. I may have to go back to just watching competitions on TLC. At least the winners are the real winners and there’s not a “we-just-don’t-like-you” popularity component.
(Let’s just give the mirrorball to whoever dances with Derek and save us the 10 weeks.)
Well I’m glad I waited until the end of the show because when they over-scored Bitchtina I was so angry they had just saved her inflated ego, potted plant, personality. Her attitude sucked. PHEW!! Good riddance.
Snooki was my favorite of the evening. I though her attitude was refreshing and she kicked ass during that dance and was genuine (non-Hollywood).
Jack as well was just authentic, sympathetic and moving.
Thrilled Bill is safe again!! I love the making-out to Air Supply memory. Hilarious.
I enjoyed Amber’s dance a lot but could care less about a Hollywood story being the most memorable of anyone’s life. Of course Corbin is safe. Good dance and all but he just doesn’t move me at all.
Leah’s score was appropriate, I thought.
Elizabeth, sigh. I wish she would have stuck with her son being the most memorable year, period. Again, I just have an emotional disconnect with the absolute most memorable moment of your life being about you and not someone else, anyone else that moved or influenced you. May just be me but it bugs me. And her jive wasn’t so great. I loved Val in the package though.
Brant – I don’t know why I was expecting a good, for me anyway, contemporary from Peta because she had ballet training. But I did. The movements were all so damn rough. Yes, I know she always seems to dance hard but I thought the whole dance would have been really beautiful if she didn’t slam herself into nearly every move. I also thought it would have been nice if she gave Brant a solo so he could stand out. If she did, I missed it.
Head slap. Oops! Sorry mods, I accidentally put the website where my name should have been. If it’s possible to correct it, please do. If not, no worries. My apologies. Thank you.
Just realized that I posted this comment in the wrong section so I’ll re-pot here.
I agree with #47 – the Elizabeth opening with the Jive pills was just way too corny for me. She seems like a nice woman but I don’t really connect with her.
I actually liked Christina’s dance for the first time tonight, but another one that I never connected with so fine that she went home. It would have been OK with me if Leah and Tony went home as well. I can’t stand Tony. His comments during the piece about dance experience really annoyed me. Same with Val’s comment.
I really enjoyed Amber & Derek’s routine, but knew they would get dinged by Len for not being in hold more. Hopefully, they are getting the votes. I saw a few comments about having the wrong number on the screen. I’m on the West Coast and went back to check and it was correct here so maybe it was just the East Coast that was screwed up.
Oh….and I have TOTALLY forgotten to mention that I LOVED the opening number…even before Tom said it, I KNEW it was choreographed by Derek…can’t wait to watch it back – there were so many nice little details in it that I know I missed some of them!
I’m liking Brant, Amber, Snooki and Corbin the most, and impressed by Bill and Jack.
I think Len went overboard considering it’s about the celebrity and penalizing Amber because he’s jealous of Derek is just wrong, but Derek expected it and he has a formula and he knows what he’s doing.
Carrie Anne needs to get a life and get over the lift thing. I was glad Bruno compensated for Len’s low score and if I had to pick two favorites I’d like to see battle it out in the finals it would be Derek and Amber and Karina and Corbin. We shall see.
I like to be positive so I won’t comment on the ones I don’t particularly care for or bash anyone, regarding contestants, but I do prefer dancing without sets, props and gimmicks. The judges are fair are a different story. Perhaps Julianne misplaced Len’s hemorrhoid pillow?
i can’t wait to read the thorough update of tonight’s show.
yeah i’ve been getting these irritating vibes from christina and leah. they both rub me the wrong way. to me, christina looks like she can’t take criticism. but i like leah more just cuz she is honest and funny. BUT i don’t understand WHYYYYYY she has to continually repeat almost every week that she isn’t a dancer. we get it already.
i like elizabeth too. but she can get a little intense. i guess thats her being herself. i hoping this “intensity” won’t backfire
its starting to look like this is the season of the underdogs. which is a good thing to discuss.
@Annie – #96 Last week Elizabeth was hunched over and this week she definitely stumbled. But then there was a DWTS god above that brought Elizbeth and Val back down to reality…. They are in jeopardy. Take that you judges.
I hope TPTB realize who the audience wants to see and who they do NOT want to see. And maybe that their so-called cash cow’s are not worth hanging onto any longer.
Christina’s attitude played a big part in why she’s gone. I admit, I was shocked she left when Leah was still standing there, but I’m glad. Leah and Elizabeth should be next. Leah and Tony are always whining about something, their dances are boring, and let’s not even start with the costumes. Elizabeth and Val are awkward together and she’s not that great. But the judges still want her there for whatever reason. And please, no Showgirls tribute.
Bill, Jack and Nicole are what this show is supposed to be. Wouldn’t that be a “shock” if those were the three in the finals?
@Jessica I would post the video link but I know that is a no-no. Melissa actually said in her before dance package (Tony did as well) it was a contemporary piece. If you would like to see it just search Melissa DWTS freestyle on YouTube and it will pop up.
Let me just say this. If they GAVE the mirror ball trophy to everyone that dances with Derek then Shawn would have gotten it in season 15 and not Tony and Melissa. This is a popularity contest. It is also a dance contest. Sometimes it is more a popularity contest than a dance contest. It is easy to be a gracious winner but it shows more character to be a gracious loser.
As much as I want to like Liz and Val, I’m not feeling it. I looooooved SBTB but seriously that opening skit was just, it was too forced to me. Plus if it had been another certain pro that had done that he would have been called out for it.
When all else fails just stay calm and love Bill.
“Stay calm and love Bill”. New motto…along with #IfBillLeavesWeRiot 😉
As for the great Tony Dovolani “I’ve never done a contemporary routine!” debate – Tony DID say that he and Melissa’s freestyle routine was “contemporary”; however, I still maintain that it was more theater arts than contemporary, and he probably just slapped the contemporary label on it because it was a term that he thought the audience would know and relate to. But yeah, the whole “I’ve never done a contemporary routine!” schlock we heard from him last night was rather misleading and a bit smarmy – perhaps he should have qualified it with “I’ve never done a contemporary routine for a NON-DANCER!!!”, since both he and Leah seemed intent on pounding it into our heads that she is not a dancer, and thus should be cut more slack than Corbin, Elizabeth, and Amber.
I’m going to save my opinions on the dances for Courts power ranking post. But on the rest of the show…
100% over Tony and Leah. I didn’t mind them before but now they just annoy me. Their faces when they were being judged and them laughing while Christina was talking about her prior dancing not helping. We get it…YOU’RE NOT A DANCER. Neither is Jack, Brant, or Bill but you don’t hear it coming out of their mouth every 2 minutes. The show isn’t about who came in with what experience as clearly the judges tend to give scores based on individuals rather than a comparing dancers.
The pro segment about previous dance experience was a little off for me. Tony’s “if you have dance experience you know you’re getting to the semi-finals” comment was just thrown in his face tonight. If that segment was done during the all-star season Tony would be singing a different tune. I agree that dance experience helps but it does also put the expectations higher.
I don’t mind Christina’s elimination. Clearly she wasn’t getting the votes to stay. Makes me wonder how Leah was actually doing for votes. I can’t see her getting a ton but who knows. Maybe she wasn’t getting an insane amount but Christina was just so low in the votes that she couldn’t make up the difference. I don’t see her getting an insane amount of votes after the way she was acting last night.
This show was my fav so far this season.
My rankings (before elimination):
1) Corbin and Karina: Loved it. Deserved more than it got as a score.
2) Elizabeth and Val: Could have lived without the acting part but talk about a throwback. Loved it. Too bad America doesn’t seem to click with Elizabeth
3) Amber and Derek: That 7 from Len……confusing. This dance was great and personally I think she is still a contender.
4) Nicole and Sasha: Kinda thought it veered into hip hop territory at times but I loved it.
5) Brant and Peta: This guy is so inconsistent. Last week he was bad and this week nails this. As much as it pains me to say it, (and by this point you all know how I was rooting for him week one but Peta annoyed me by giving him some choreography that didn’t suit him since) Peta actually delivered in the choreography department this week.
6) Leah and Tony: This seemed like the producers saying “Lets get Leah out this week by giving her a contemporary dance” and it may be the dance that sends her home but it was underscored in my opinion.
7)Jack and Cheryl: Tis guy never disappoints. So good. The best part about Jack though is he brought happy Cheryl back. When Cheryl had other good partners she seemed to phone it in. With him she is really giving him some great choreography. Plus, I also find it funny that both Kelly and Jack are such good dancers. Lets get Sharon on the show to see what parent they got that from.
8) Cristina and Mark: She went out on a overscored but nice dance.
9) Bill and Emma: I honestly think this guy is such a cool person and Emma gave him some great choreography but this isn’t his dance.
Now Cristina’s elimination was funny to me for 3 reasons:
1) Mark’s reaction to Julianne’s comment might have had a negative effect on their standing in the competition and once again he showed how his behavior can influence how far he goes in a given season.
2)Cristina’s inability to not come off as conceited was weird to me. I honestly feel like that turned a lot of people off.
3) Mark’s face after they were eliminated. It wouldn’t shock me if he wrote something abut how it’s unfair but he needs to watch that back because he looked like he was ready to kill someone.
Also loved the opening number. I’m being selfish and wish it wasn’t during a musical performance, but it was great so I won’t complain too much 😉 Had Derek written all over it and I loved it all. I’m hoping him and Amber get contemporary or jazz sometime soon.
Sidenote, this previous dance experience debate last night had me laughing. Specifically Tony, Cheryl, and Peta. Tony’s comment was dumb. In fact, I hope it comes back to bite him. Cheryl’s comment was oddly spot on. The best dancer does not always win. I think she forgot about Drew Lachey though because he was not a stronger dancer than Stacey that season and might have insulted him. Peta needs to take a chill pill. She had previous contestants that had not had dance experience (with the exception of Giles Marini who she had for all stars) and I feel that if they ever gave her someone with dance experience, she would become as insufferable as Mark is when he has someone with dance experience.
I’m also glad they didn’t reevaluate and give Corbin a higher score. Yes, I think it would be a great concept for when CAI is wrong in that department, but if you do it for one you have to do it for all which I think would be hard to keep up with.
Totally agree with your entire post Figamentation (114).
Stuff I forgot to mention before:
Loved the opening number too and had a feeling it was Derek’s choreo as it was going on.
Dance experience debate was funny and annoying. Responses were really not surprising at all. Cheryl did have it spot on, and I don’t think it had anything to do with any of her partners. She’s been here a long time and knows how it goes.
To address something above, I don’t think Amber and Derek have it in the bag at all but I do expect them to make it to the semis. I also don’t believe last season’s outcome would have been any different without the votes issue. Kellie & Derek peaked at the right time and others did not. Them winning the twitter vote for the encore told the story there, if they could manage to do that, they could manage to win the regular voting too. This show will ALWAYS be a little more about the “stars” than the “dancing.” I don’t watch pro ballroom but when I want to watch talented dancing without any previous fan-base influences, I watch SYTYCD.
Does anyone know who the guest star is that is performing next week?
Although, Kaitlyn, it might shut CAI up if she knew she was going to have to defend herself against a video review every time she thought a toe might have come a millimeter off the floor, lol, and maybe the couples deserve that before they lose a point. Of course that wouldn’t help when she conveniently misses one.
Just watching the dances back and I’m really surprised the judges haven’t said much (if anything at all) about how the height of Elizabeth and Val effects the visual aspect of their dance (at least it does for me). I definitely saw it last week in their AT (even though I liked the dance overall) and again last night with the Jive. I think Elizabeth is slightly taller than Zendaya and for some reason, visually, it makes a difference.
For some reason, the producers/judges are really protecting her, which doesn’t make sense to me. This isn’t just for Elizabeth, but in general, why keep a contest around and try and pimp them if they aren’t getting votes? Wouldn’t you rather have the contests people are clearly rooting for and watching for?
Snooki’s still my favorite after a second viewing.
I’m interested if anyone thinks that Bruno changed his score on the fly. My intuition says he was going to give Amber a 9 and when Len gave her a 7, he switched out to compensate. Hmmmm. Anyone?
My belief on the “Lift Conspiracy” is that they needed a reason to give Corbin a lower score. Enter CAI and the lift police. It is not the first time nor will it be the last.
Another thing to consider when talking about dance experience vs. non-dancers. It is also the way they are trained DURING the show, plus the attitude of the celeb willing to not only learn but to put ego aside and relearn. Last season showed us that.
@ #136 Katherine I thought so too.
I agree @KarenT! I think it could be a great concept for future seasons. I think if they do it they have to begin at the start of the season and go from there. But I think it would bring CAI down a bit with her policing. And yes, she does conveniently miss them a lot too!
@Katherine- I think they have to give their scores before they give the comments. I could be wrong though. But I think they have to do that so the scores match what is shown on the screen. So I think it might have been a 10 all along.
@Kevin Hoffman … I believe it is Mika and Ariana Grande though I could be wrong.
Power Rankings are up for those who were waiting 🙂 https://www.puredwts.com/2013/10/15/puredwts-season-17-week-5-power-rankings/
#138 #140 @Kaitlyn, good insight, makes practical sense. I still wonder if he saw what Len was going to do and upjudged her, on the fly or otherwise.
I didn’t think that dance was a 10 under a bright light. If that’s what we’re giving 10’s to, then where do we go from here? There’s no room for improvement.
I also agree with Len that if you’re judging fairly, you can’t ignore the fact that some couples work to nail technique and Derek & Amber deliberately de-emphasized the technique of the foxtrot.
Karen, it seems that the judges tried to save her but didn’t go high enough with the scores. But there’s no telling that a perfect 30 would have been enough – she just wasn’t getting the votes. Not only was her score not high enough, the other scores were high as well, so it gave Christina no cover. If, for example, someone like Brant had only gotten a 20, then that might have been low enough, combined with his own votes to save Christina. I know it’s confusing, but I’ll try to explain it more in my post about the numbers.
Essentially, it’s a combination of a bunch of factors. While Christina was clearly the low vote getter, the judges scores DO count and their impact also determines who goes home. My sense is that Leah wasn’t going home, regardless – if she can get a 21 and still be safe, she’s getting the votes. But that’s no guarantee that Bill, Jack, Brant or Elizabeth would have been able to survive a 21. If one of them had gotten a 21, Christina might have stayed. There’s no way of knowing that right now.
There’s a very good possibility that the phone votes for the east coast will be tossed, if you read @DancingABC’s twitter account. For that reason, if you live in the east and didn’t vote online? Get on it.
The phrase “so and so is what this show is supposed to be” annoys the ever living crap out of me. No, they’re not. It’s not written anywhere that that is the case. Mark was right on target when he said that it’s very difficult to find a female anywhere that hasn’t taken at least one dance class. The show is about teaching celebrities how to BALLROOM dance. It’s a ballroom dancing show. As long as they don’t have ballroom training (Donny Osmond, I”m looking at you), then they are what the show is about. You don’t like that someone has even the tiniest bit of dance training? Then you best be voting for a MALE celeb.
Alabama, I think that they protect someone who they see as a great dancer (the judges much more than the producers) because they feel that the great dancers should go to the end. They probably thought that about Christina too, hence the overscoring, but not all of them are going to make it. I expect they will work even harder to do what they probably perceive as protecting the integrity of the show by protecting great dancers now that Christina is out of the mix.
Katherine – possibly. Bruno has done that before, I think – saw what Len wrote and went higher to compensate. Hell, they might even have worked it out in advance.
Maybe you can agree to that, Katherine, but when the other couples didn’t actually work harder than her on the technique and didn’t have that much LESS open work, I sure can’t. I even said on twitter that Derek needed more foxtrot, but a 7, after watching what Christina and Mark did the week before, is ridiculous. Then he gives a 9 to Liz?? Nah, he’s on crack and has to do this to Derek at least once a season. If he did it to EVERYONE, it wouldn’t bother me. But he doesn’t.
@Heidi, LOL. You’re right. These days it’s not a DWTS unless Derek and Len are pushing each other’s buttons. At least this one didn’t make me as uncomfortable as last year’s paso trio aneurysm.
I do think that when Derek has a strong partner, he will deliberately do something fun that will put his partner at risk and count on the audience to save them, which is fine. It’s a calculated risk. It’s usually super fun for the for me when he does this, but I didn’t think so about that foxtrot last night. It’s my least favorite dance of theirs so far, pretty ordinary, I thought and (to my admittedly uninformed dancer’s eye) weirdly similar to their Charleston.
@ #150 Katherine I agree. Derek and Len have a t’ing and Derek is aware of it and takes the chance that viewers votes and the entertainment value of a dance will overcome Len’s distain of Derek’s flouting the rules and expectations.
However, I too was somewhat disappointed with Amber & Derek’s foxtrot last night. I didn’t feel it was creative or special enough to completely disregard the conventions of ballroom and this dance for. I heard the judges saying they wanted to see a different, softer side of Christina and they didn’t get it. But why not say the same of Amber? Derek has been outstanding at finding and utilizing her strengths. And Amber has performance skills up the wazoo. But I personally was looking forward to seeing a new technique or persona for the foxtrot. I wanted some glide. Some updated Fred & Ginger stylings. Not just Derek wooing a sassy and confident Amber again.
PH, thank you from the bottom of my heart (#146) — I’m so glad someone else is as fed up as I am of being told what/who the show is supposed to be about as if it was spelled out as part of a legally binding contract or codified in the laws of the land.
@EPmusic You may have a point about Tony fueling Leah’s “not a dancer” comments. I seem to recall that Tony’s last partner, Wynonna, reminded us many times in the short time that she was there that she was not a dancer. Might telling his non-ringer partners to remind the viewing audience of that fact be part of Tony’s training process?
My favorites are Corbin and Karina, as well as Val and Elizabeth and hope that they will make it to the finals, but I felt badly that Christina was eliminated. I really loved her last three dances and she was beginning to seem less nervous. I disagree with opinion stated earlier that she is just a social media star, in fact Christina is a singer and actor and very well known and regarded in the urban music community. I give her credit for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new.
SH 151, I agree. But, this week was memorable-year week with Amber helping to pick the song, so, it might not have been as appropriate with her back story and personality to go with a Fred and Ginger style dance. I am sure we will see the soft side of Amber with waltz and rumba.
When it comes to Derek and Len it is a double edged sword and Derek is screwed either way. If Derek doesn’t do enough —insert dance here—- Len calls him out. If Derek just goes with the flow and does dancing 101, Len tells him he expects more.
It is seriously a Len thing.
Exactly, EP. Their interviews make it clear that the choreography was tailored to Amber’s story and that’s how Amber wanted it BECAUSE it spoke to her story.
I am a 41yr old female and I can honestly say that I’ve never ever had ONE dance class. Unless you count the day we did square dancing during co-ed gym in middle school back in the mid 80’s! lol My parents couldn’t afford dance lessons for either me or my little sister. I do however have a natural ability to count music having spent four years of high school as a member of the drill team/color guard/flag line in my high school marching band.
I liked Derek and Amber’s dance. It was her most memorable year so it was her choice to dance HER story.
EPmusic, I actually can’t wait to see Amber’s Rumba. I want to see her sensuous romantic side and I think she’s got the chops to pull it off wonderfully.
Kelly, if you were dancing with Derek, you would be a ringer. 🙂
