DWTS Val Chmerkovskiy Writes About Why He Carried Elizabeth Berkely Off The Stage And More
Val Chmerkovskiy has written a new blog at Today. He writes of how he didn’t think it was necessary to announce that a woman had received the lowest number of votes and could be going home at the top of the show Monday night since it upset him and his partner Elizabeth Berkley. He also writes of why he carried her off the stage at the end of the show. More below including how their new dance is coming along so far….
After we were called safe, I carried Elizabeth off stage because she was nervous and crying. She doesn’t want this to end. She still felt a little shook up. I reminded her how excited she was to be on the show when it began two months ago. I told her not to get involved in the drama. Just enjoy – genuinely enjoy – and appreciate being here. I pointed to her husband in the audience and said worry about him and your baby at home. This is supposed to be fun. That helped put it all in perspective.
We’re doing the cha-cha next week. I haven’t had time to fully conceptualize the production. We had such a huge production in our last dance on Monday that next I want to just showcase a great dance, a great song and our strengths, which are Elizabeth and our chemistry. It’ll be impressive because of the dancing, rather than the production.
We have Tuesdays off since there’s no longer a results show, but having that extra day can be a double-edged sword. It gives you more time to overthink what you’re doing. Now, Tuesdays are mostly about setting up the conversation about what we’ll be doing. We do a lot of interviews and we consult with production and wardrobe.

Poor widdle Lizzy was “nervous and crying” just because she was “in jeopardy”? 🙄 If her pysche is that fragile, she’s on the wrong damn show. Can’t wait to see what she does when she’s one of the two standing under the red elimination light. A full-on hysterical nervous breakdown on national TV would be great drama.
I want Leah and Tony gone this week, but if it meant them staying one more week to get rid of those two, I wouldn’t mind. Elizabeth, grow up! You’re on a show the eliminates people every week. Deal with it. Having Val carry you off the stage made you look like a child. I’m predicting Elizabeth and Leah to be gone over the next two weeks.
I hope Nicole doesn’t pay for the phone fiasco. She deserves to stay. Especially over the two mentioned above.
They’re both nuts.
@Anna R – LOL!
I guess I’m just the sensitive type. I appreciate the emotion from all the contestants because I think they all care about this and are taking it seriously. Amber crying because she didn’t want to let Derek down…Bill crying because he was called safe… I even think Leah was getting teary eyed at the top of the hour when Tom said a lady could be going home. She cares…she cried…so they’re nuts? I don’t make that connection but that is just me.
