DWTS Season 17, Week 6 – Let’s Recap Tonight’s Show!! (SPOILERS)

That opening pro dance is pretty good – Lacey had been really good at that since she stopped competing as a pro. I refuse to give Benji (shudder) any credit. 🙂

Man oh man, Bill got hosed on the song for a Tango. One of the worst hosings I’ve seen.  And Bill gets a 23. Remember what I said about Bill getting a 23? PRAY that I’m wrong about a few other scores, is all I can say. And hope Leah gets 21 or less.  Not counting the Switcheroo challenge crapola, that is. 🙂

ETA: Any mention of the votes from last week is conspicuously absent. So far. Hmmmmm….

ETA2: Uh oh. Two dances in and I’m only off by one point.  Yikes.

ETA3: How many times has Leah removed clothing in this season??

ETA4: OMG, are F*&king kidding me?? They are trying to send Bill home, from the looks of it giving Leah a 27??  Len says he’s been lenient?? Crack is WACK!!  He gives Leah not only a pass but a 9. This is outrageous. That dance was a 24 at best, it was so sloppy.  Bet Len is not so lenient on Amber, regardless of what she dances.

ETA5: Okay, for those of you not watching, I was right that they do the dance in two groups of four couples. They just picked numbers and it’s Corbin, Nicole, Bill and Jack in one group and then Amber, Liz, Leah and Brant in the second group. If you win, you get 4 points and it goes down from there. That minimizes the damage from the marathon quite a bit, but with the scores they’ve already handed out? Shit.

 SPOILERS!!!

As I suspected when I saw the clock and how little time there was left, they called it all the way down to Jack and Bill, called Jack safe and then told Bill and everyone that no one was going home.  They threw out all the votes this week and no one goes home. But the judges scores from this week will be added in to next week.

NO, this does not change my utter disgust regarding Len Goodman.

Discuss. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Would Welcome The Offer To Judge Dancing With The Stars (New Interview)

In an interview with Today, Maksim Chmerkovskiy talks of Val’s new clothing line and how he’s been working to sharpen his acting skills. There is also talk of him judging Dancing With The Stars. Even though he hasn’t received a phone call or an offer yet, he’d welcome it “with positivity and smiles.” Below is more about how he’d be unbiased….

If that were to happen, Chmerkovskiy would be put in the same position Hough was in when she sat at the judges table — having to dole out criticism and score a sibling pro. For Hough, it was brother Derek (who’s partnered with Amber Riley). For Chmerkovskiy, it would be brother Valentin (who’s dancing alongside Elizabeth Berkley).

The question is, would he be up for the unbiased job?

“Absolutely,” the older Chmerkovskiy responds. “Because I wouldn’t be judging my brother — I’d be judging the celebrities and what they are showing us.”

Hough’s remarks were encouraging and positive during her one-episode stint, with the possible exception of her quip about her former dance partner and childhood pal, Mark Ballas, being a bit too much of a showman. The statement generated lots of publicity. Chmerkovskiy insists he’d be supportive of the dance pros and their partners because he’s been in their shoes.

“I’d never be detrimental in any ways with my comments,” he said. “I know the effect that has. I’m not going to go after the pro and say, ‘You should have done a better job,’ because I know how difficult it is.”

More at Today.

DWTS Corbin Bleu Blogs About The Viennese Waltz, Explains The Switch-Up Challenge Dance

Corbin Bleu writes on last week’s dance on Dancing With The Stars and how emotional it was for him in a new blog at people.com. He also writes about he and Karina Smirnoff’s new dance tonight. That’s not all! He also explains the “Switch-up” dance and how it will take place tonight. Read on…

This week we’ve got the Viennese waltz. We’re doing it to something very epic and I’m just super stoked about it. We’re going to be in costume and we’re telling the story of characters from a popular TV show. It’s my favorite show.

It’s been pretty difficult this week because I’ve had so many outside things going on. I did the Ellen show, I’ve had a photo shoot, I did KTLA and I launched my Indiegogo campaign for the movie The Day I Died. It’s the story of a young boy who was brutally bullied in high school due to his sexuality. It’s a very touching story and it’s very raw. I’m very passionate about it.

On top of all that, we’ve also been practicing for this thing on tonight’s show called the switch-up challenge. For the challenge, four couples are brought on the stage and they play music that we don’t know is going to be played, and you just have to dance to it. They start tapping people out and they bring out the other four couples. So we have to prep for this challenge that we can’t really prep for.

Again, I don’t know what to think of this new Switch-Up Challenge Dance (I like Heidi’s title better for it. lol)? I feel sorry for the couples having to do it.

ETA: Karina has also written a new blog at People.com. Below is a take on their new dance and how “in sync” they are….

I’m so stoked for tonight’s dance. We’re doing a Viennese waltz to the theme song from a hit HBO show. The whole package is pretty much one of the top two characters of that show and their love story. It’s an incredible dance. The characters start out hating each other and then they fall in love.

It’s pretty incredible how in sync Corbin and I are. We finish each other’s sentences. Even our stomachs growl in sync. I have an amazing connection with him.

If interested in reading a second blog by Corbin, visit Access Hollywood. Below he writes more on their new dance….

Raise your flags high and point your swords to the sky, it’s time for a “Game of Thrones” themed dance! It’s my favorite show on television!

Earlier this year I caught the “Thrones” bug and went on a TV binge to get all caught up. My girlfriend and I are obsessed with the show and last week, when we were just talking about how we can’t wait for the next season to start, the theme song got stuck in my head.I went to Karina and asked her if there was a ballroom dance that would fit the music. After telling me it was a Viennese Waltz we pitched the song and started our journey to bringing the Iron Throne to the “DWTS” stage.

The challenge was finding a way to marry the medieval and often barbaric adventure of “Thrones” with the elegant and romantic waltz. The result is pretty unconventional, but I believe it has turned out to be one hell of a dance.

First, we had to figure out which of the many story lines from the show we wanted to tell. We went with one of my favorite and most dynamic plotlines, the tale of Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen and Kahl Drogo!

Dancing With The Stars And MTV’s Snooki A Much Happier Person Now

In promos for the return of “Snooki and JWoww“, Snooki did a segment for Good Morning America today. She talked about motherhood and how much it’s changed her. She’s over the partying thing now and a much happier person.

More coming up with Snooki! Stay tuned to this spot!!

ETA: Snooki writes about she and Sasha’s new dance at people.com. She mentions the song they will be dancing to and gives out some information on the “Switch-Up Challenge Dance as well. “A crazy show” is right!

This week Sasha and I are dancing the fox trot to “Buttercup.”

It’s such a sweet elegant dance, and Sasha did an amazing job with choreography which you guys will see this Monday night on Dancing with the Stars.

This week was so much fun rehearsing because at this point I feel like Sasha and I are old friends. Even though we take this competition seriously and want to do the best we can, we always remember to have fun and enjoy this awesome experience.

It’s getting down to the wire now with couples getting voted off each week and it’s so sad because we all became a family.

This week’s show is throwing in a HUGE twist in the competition – all couples will be dancing to different types of music, kind of like musical chairs but without the chairs.

Whoever wins this part of the competition will get four extra points to their scores! So this week is going to be a crazy show!!!!

Also, below is Snooki and JWoww on The Ellen Show today….

Sasha shows up for this part. Too fun….
