DWTS Season 17, Week 7 – Let’s Recap Tonight’s Show!! (SPOILERS)

Great opening dance by Mandy Moore!

The Big ANNOUNCEMENT is that Cher is performing and guest judging – BFD. I mean, really? That warranted me not missing the first few minutes?? You’re going to be pimping the crap out of it for the next 7 days!! Is Cher on a label affiliated with ABC/Disney???

Derek is dressed to Dance!!

Brant and Liz both use a shit ton of frippery and once again don’t get called on it. We’ll see if anyone does tonight. Wonder if Derek has any frippery.

Len is still in love with Liz.

Bruno says Brant went off time a couple times and still gives a 9. Right. AND he slipped on the skirt. Right.

Team Spooky Bon Bom is smack talking – biggest smack talkers usually lose.

ETA: Team FoxingAwesome easily wins the Team dance – wasn’t as close as the scores imply, IMO, just based on the fact that FA had actual dance moves in their dance. And Ballroom to boot.

SPOILERS!!!

Bill and Nicole were the last two standing – and I’m pissed that we lost the darling Nicole while Leah still darkens our dance floor.

Sorry, Rioters – I cannot celebrate with you. Nicole was a better dancer, even though I liked both couples very much.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Snooki Writes On The Samba, The Group Dance, And More On Dancing With The Stars

This past week has been a little rough on Snooki being she had lots of press for her show “Snooki & JWOWW and she had to learn two dances for Dancing With The Stars. Each week on Dancing With The Stars is getting harder and harder, but, Snooki is excited for tonight. Here is more from People.com.

Each week just keeps getting harder and harder, but with each week I feel Sasha and I trying even harder and we definitely aren’t ready to leave the competition yet.

I’m so excited for our group number! We are the “Spooky Bom Boms.” (We’re competing with Val and Elizabeth, Emma and Bill and Tony and Leah). I feel like our group is different from the other group because we all are goof balls. We are all here to have the best time out of this experience and were ready to dance.

Can’t wait for the show! We’ve all been working very hard this week so we hope our audience enjoys every minute of Monday night’s episode!

DWTS17 Karina Smirnoff Writes Of A Dance Change, But, Corbin Bleu’s “Hips Don’t Lie”

Karina Smirnoff has written a new blog at People.com about she and Corbin’s new dance. Get ready for a lot of hip action. Below is more including her thoughts about the judging last week.

I’m not going to lie, last week’s critiques had me a little confused because I had done that exact lift with Ralph Macchio from a previous season and it was never called a lift. There have also been different couples doing the same thing, so I thought it would be a safe bet to add in the lift, but it is the judges’ decision. I respect it and we can’t fight it. We just have to keep moving forward and hope that everyone enjoys what we put together each week.

We are doing the Cha Cha this week. It’s a faster dance that’s upbeat and fun! It is going to show that Corbin’s “hips don’t lie!” There will be fun, fast movements throughout the dance and a ton of hip action. We are so excited.

To read her new blog in full, see People.com. She talks of how their dance was changed (again) at first too.

ETA: Corbin has written his two blogs. Be sure to read them in full at People and Access Hollywood. Below are just a couple of takes where he writes of he and Karina’s new dance and how it’s the “turning point” now….

This week has definitely been a turning point. We’ve passed the halfway mark and everyone seems to have hit a wall. After two months of dancing seven days a week, bodies and minds are tiring and yearning for a reprieve.

This is the time to really dig deep. If you make it to the end, I think the adrenaline of seeing the finish line would carry you through. But right now we’re at the point where the finish line is just far enough to seem like you won’t have enough gas in the tank to make it.

Staying positive and taking it one day at a time is my mantra at this moment, especially because this week’s dance has been filled with hurdles that are still lingering even till now. This week we are doing the cha cha, and even though the song they gave us doesn’t match the down beats that cha cha is supposed to be danced on, somehow Karina managed to find a way to have traditional cha cha steps on this unconventional rhythm.

Frustration was higher than usual this week but we were able to finish and fine tune a dance that is the result of what we strive to do every week, stay optimistic in the face of opposition and put your nose to the grindstone! I hope you, the judges, and in the moment, we, enjoy it!

This week, we are focusing on making sure all of the elements of traditional cha-cha are in the dance.

We’re also focusing on the technique, my form and giving the judges no room to dock our points for lifts or for not having all of the pieces of the cha-cha in the dance.

Besides how well we execute it, I want to make sure the emotion is there and that my form and technique are on and I don’t mess up any parts of the dance.

DWTS Double Elimination Possibility Talked About On Good Morning America, Some Couples Interviewed

Today former dancing contestant Christina Milian was a guest on Good Morning America (along with Enrique Iglesias! *sigh smiley_heart ). Christina talks on Dancing With The Stars and how no one knows if there will be one or TWO eliminations tonight!! The pressure is on. They interview Cheryl and Jack in rehearsals. They’ve been dancing as if it’s their last dance. Emma and Bill were also interviewed. They were so relieved to be called safe last week. They are all scared and working really hard. Bill says, “Everyone is kinda crunching right now”.

ADDING: So, with a “big announcement” coming, are they trying to prepare us that there is a “double elimination” tonight? I don’t know what to think? 😯

ADDING2: Btw, Jack and Bill’s dances for tonight look pretty good in rehearsals. Let us know your thoughts.

DWTS Leah Remini Talks Of Her Competitors, Keeping Her Emotions In Check, And More

TV Guide interviewed Leah Remini. She talks of what it’s been like to work and dance with her partner Tony Dovolani and doing Dancing With The Stars. Below is a take about how she feels on some of her fellow competitors who have more dance experience than her and keeping her emotions in check during rehearsals. MORE at the link!

Having no dance experience against competitors like Corbin Bleu andElizabeth Berkley may seem like it puts you at a disadvantage, but sometimes it can work to your favor. The audience seems more impressed by people who have no dance experience going out there every week.Remini: I agree. I mean, I enjoy watching Corbin and Amber [Riley] and Elizabeth, but I can’t really tell the difference between the pro and the celebrity. They’re extremely talented. … But I do love watching Bill [Engvall] and Jack [Osbourne] get better and better, and I have a smile on my face every time they’re on the floor. And I think that’s why people watch the show. They see themselves in us. I think most people love to dance. I think most people love the idea of people who have never done it before get out there and not only learn something new and fun for them, but actually perform it in front of a lot of people. So, they’re kind of going on that journey with us. I get Tweeted all the time, “I started a dance class because of you and Bill.” It’s a cool thing if you can inspire someone to do something that maybe they weren’t doing before.

They’re continuing with the team dances this week. You briefly walked out of rehearsals last week for the “switch-up challenge.” Was it as bad as you thought it was going to be?Remini: Coming off of [the previous] Monday was difficult, and then hearing, [we’re trying] a new thing … you go back to bad habits. Immediately, Tony was supportive of me in that moment, but because he was supportive and because I knew deep down he was going to take care of me. That was a lesson to me. You’ve got to do things that you’re not comfortable with. But ultimately, I think going back in made me stronger. … I had my little pity party for two seconds. Tony was like, “Just have fun.” Jack was texting me going, “Let’s just have fun with it.” And I was like, “You’re right again.” So, I actually really enjoyed it. It was really a lot of fun. I react to things, and then later I’m like, “Eh, idiot.” I think too much of it. We all have emotions. Some people don’t let it out. I let it out and then I’m like, “Sorry!”

I have such a hard time saying anything positive on this one. 😐
