GMA Coverage Of DWTS Eliminated Couples, Judges Name Next Week’s Guest Judge
Lot’s of fun coverage today of the eliminated couples on Good Morning America thanks to the Vocal Vault, Karina, and @GMA. Plus, the judges announced Robin Roberts will be the celebrity guest judge on Dancing With The Stars next week (Awww, I love her). Note too how they said there will be a guest judge every week from next week forward (wow, ok, but, isn’t that a little much?) Also, note how Sean remarked in his interview that he and the producer had a disagreement which he thinks sealed his fate, but, I don’t think that had anything to do with him being eliminated, do you? I think his fan base was too small compared to Billy Dee’s (who I think should have left before Sean)? Let us know what you think. Below is more in detail…
ETA: Ricky Martin and Redfoo from the band LMFAO will also be judging in the next weeks as well as Mario Lopez and Julianne Hough as previously reported.
Well, I oddly agree with Sean.
Hi Vogue! I’m pretty sure the “sloppy seconds” comment the producers put in Sean’s package last week didn’t help him any!
I’m loving all the great stuff on Pure again this year. Thank you all a bunch!
That is great about Robin being a guest judge. Since the judges were announcing the guest judge for next week I was thinking about her. Glad that she will be on.
As far as Sean’s comment that he had a disagreement with the producer and it may have lead to him being eliminated, it may have had something to do with him being eliminated but we really won’t know for sure. I think that may happen quite frequently but since we never know the actual voting results we can’t prove it.
I would have liked to see him and Diana another week to see what they could have done.
I agree that the package didn’t help him connect with the audience which killed him in the fan vote and he probably was one of the bottom two.
However, I did like his dry wit and what Karina put out there about him. I wanted him to stay around a little longer. How sweet is it that he made arrangements for her to stay closer to the studio on Sundays so she didn’t have to get up so early to make her 6:30 am call time?!
I also think it’s pretty awesome that he is donating the money he made from DWTS to a charity…which I didn’t find out about until Karina talked about it in the press line last week.
He left after the premiere and didn’t do press line because of argument (although Karina fed George a story about charity work). Apparently, he asked for the sloppy seconds comment/ photo of the ex NOT to be aired and supposedly he was assured it would be favorable to him.
As someone who was previously engaged to a “minor league” hockey player. There is TONS of trash talk…probably the worst of any sport and considering the “toughest” they have to display, Sean is actually very sweet compared to others.
While I think them showing that interview of Sean doing some trash talking was a dick move and completely unnecessary, I think his elimination had to do more with him not having a big enough fanbase (though, of course, that interview didn’t help him either). I liked him. I wish he would have stuck around a bit more because he was starting to show some more personality last night.. Such a shame. Oh and I LOVE Diana. She is now one my favorite people ever. That joke she cracked at the very beginning.. God, I love her spirit. Sad to see her go as well.
Now Robin Roberts… errrr… well I do love her. And I first I thought that her being a guest judge was odd (I just wish they’d have guest judges with some dance experience… like Danica haha.. k maybe not). I think though, since next week is “Most Memorable Year” Week, she’ll be kinda basing her scores in the emotion of the dance and the stories that are portrayed seeing as her own story is amazing. I’m looking forward to it.
And now that I think about that as well, I’m seeing what they are trying to do with these guest judges: a guest judge that “fits” with the theme week. I remember reading that this season they’ll have a “Party Songs” Week and I’ll be shocked if Redfoo isn’t the guest judge for that week (still not crazy about the idea though)
I’m okay with Robin as a guest judge as I just love her to bits.
Redfoo however is a big WTF to me.
Has Sean never viewed DWTS before? Because the sparkle monkeys love it when a celebrity dancer makes a stupid comment. I’m sure it literally makes them all tingly inside. Now, if they really assured him that it would not air and then went ahead and showed it, then he does have the right to be angry.
Really he went home because of his small fan base and his surly not made for this show personality. At least I won’t have to see him on the ballroom floor anymore dressed like he’s on his way to Home Depot to pick up some plywood instead of dancing a Salsa with a goddess.
I would not put anything past TPTB.
I don’t doubt they had second lowest combined score, but I fully believe, now that I heard this, that this is why they did the unprecedented double elimination. Second lowest scorers usually get another chance to redeem themselves and show progress, gather more fans. When I first heard of the double eliminations I thought it was their way to get rid of Billy Dee but when he was called safe I was baffled, not baffled anymore.
I agree with Jess. I feel like The surprise they mentioned last week was supposed to be the switch up but they made the double elimination to get rid of Sean. Maybe that’s why we didn’t see much of him last night before the end of the show because I think he clearly knew he was leaving.
As for the judges, I like Robin so I’m okay with that, I think she’ll just be really positive. Redfoo? Hm. I’m hoping he’ll suprise us. As for Ricky? I’d be to lying if I didn’t say I was excited.
The last time I saw RedFoo, he was jiggling his junk in Robert De Niro’s face in Last Vegas. Does he even WATCH DWTS? At least with Robin, she’s a big fan of the show so she’s probably gleaned at least some appreciation for ballroom from it; Ricky has done some Latin dancing of his own; Mario has been on the show himself; and obviously, Julianne’s a ballroom expert. What does RedFoo bring the table???
According to the ABC website Julianne will be a judge on week 4: (look under the “guest judge news” headline about halfway down the page)

Had to lol the way Diana described Meryl! 🙂
Gitte, thanks, they said that on the show last night too.
Jim. I loved that too. lol
Thanks for all the good stuff, Vogue.
I agree with those who feel the argument Sean had with the producers is what triggered the surprise double elimination. As soon as they found out who the bottom two were, they saw an opportunity to rid themselves of a “problem”.
Sean still would have been the most likely candidate for next week’s regular second elimination. However, he would have had Monday night’s performance to win more votes from viewers. It probably wouldn’t have been enough to fend off BillyDee’s much larger StarWars fan base, but TPTB weren’t going to take any chances.
I can see them pulling this stunt again if BillyDee shows up 2nd from the bottom.
