DWTS Executive Producer Conrad Green Comments On Rumor Cast And Producers Aren’t Happy With Erin Andrews
Have some of you seen the “Life & Style” article where they reported the cast and producers of Dancing With The Stars aren’t happy with Erin Andrews?
Insiders reveal to Life & Style DWTS producers aren’t too happy with their brand-new hire, Erin Andrews.
“She’s arrogant, obnoxious and difficult to deal with,” an insider explains to Life & Style, on newsstands now.
“She was always complaining about her costumes, bossing people around, late for rehearsals, late for makeup. Everything.”
“So far, Erin hasn’t made any friends,” another DWTS *insider reveals to the mag of their new co-host, who replaced longtime co-host *Brooke Burke-Charvet**.
“The cast and crew can’t wait for her to leave after each show.”
Well, Rumor Fix asked Executive Producer Conrad Green about it. Below is a quote with his reply back. Be sure to see Rumor Fix for more as Erin’s rep commented as well. E Online also has an article posted about it.
…but DWTS executive producer, Conrad Green, also tells RumorFix, “This report couldn’t be further from the truth. Erin and our entire cast have been getting on brilliantly.”
My thougths: Hmmm, I have to wonder if there isn’t some truth in it being many of us aren’t happy with Erin either and want Brooke BACK!!
when there’s smoke, there’s usually fire
while I can’t say that I want Brooke back, my jury is still out on Erin. Hoping it’s just early times jitters for her and that she’ll settle in.
But I don’t like how she tries to compete with Tom. Give it up, girlfriend, Tom is the top of tops! Her best shot is being a great sidekick to Tom, rather than trying to steal his thunder. JMO, of course.
I don’t really believe anything that these “insiders” from Life & Style are saying. Think they’re just trying to create unnecessary drama.
I do know that a lot of viewers aren’t please with her. Some because of the way she acted on season 10 (I didn’t watch that season so, I don’t have an opinion on her behavior then). I will say I do think she’s better at interviews than Brooke and I think she just needs some time to get better.
You said it Linde, and as for Lord Conrad, I wouldn’t believe him if he said the world was round.
I don’t mind Erin, but they could get rid of her and I wouldn’t care. If she’s a pain and doesn’t fit in, then by all means, can her; but don’t bring back Brooke. She’s a nice woman but doesn’t have the skill set for this job.
Question, where people THIS unhappy when Brooke was hired as replacement for Samantha? Of course, I don’t think Samantha was “fired” like Brooke apparently was (which is what made people very upset), but did Brooke get all this backlash from viewers?
I tend to believe there is some truth to the Erin rumor. Heck, to the viewers she comes off as somewhat arrogant and pushy (bossy?)…
@Linde – My DWTS household jury has came to a verdict… Erin is Guilty as charged. Punishment is:… Replacement of your co-hosting duties.
I wonder if anyone else even auditioned for Erin’s cohosting spot? Seems like as with everything else this season, this may have been a rushed and not very well thoughtout decision.
Sandy, I didn’t care enough about Brooke to follow the whole “firing” the way some other folks have so I’m probably completely wrong, but I have a hunch Erin was an opportunity hire. They wanted Erin — they were able to get her — they let Brooke go. So I doubt they auditioned anybody, but I have absolutely nothing to back up any of those assumptions.
CC, I’m not sure fans have ever liked *any* of the female co-hosts on the show while they were hosting. However, as soon as they got replaced by someone else, the former co-host suddenly became more popular.
Oh, I guess I ought to finish my thought before I hit submit. 🙄
So in conclusion, I think Brooke took flak for replacing Samantha. I don’t remember that far back since I wasn’t as obsessed then as I am now.
Brooke did take flak for replacing Samantha, but not nearly as much. It was more a comparison of styles.
The reality is that people loved Brooke as a person, but not because she added any value to the show. Erin has the potential to add value by doing or saying something that entertains. Remember that this is the entertainment business.
You would’ve thought Conrad knew exactly what they were getting with Erin. It’s not like she’s some newbie. She even danced on a season of the show.
Pros:
Ease on camera
Quick with a quip
Cons:
Somewhat loud and pushy demeanor
Stupid stir the pot questions (which could be what the producers want her to say)
Trying to hard to match Tom
She might settle down a bit as the season goes on. We’ll see.
And I don’t want Brooke back either.
Sounds like I could be in the minority but I have always liked Brooke. She has a more caring personality than Erin could ever have. I find her a little brash where Brooke was genteel. I’d love to see someone more like Brooke in this position; someone who will let Tom be #1.
Susan2, I feel TPTB did now pretty much what they were getting with Erin, and I think they got what they wanted. It seems to me that her demeanor and style perfectly fits the more hard-hitting, mean-spirited tone the producers seem to feel is needed to make the show appeal to the younger demo. Personally, I think they’re fools (and fooling themselves to boot).
I prefer Brooke as a person, but I don’t think either of them — or Samantha, for that matter — adds anything to the show. Since the only “substantive” thing any of them does/did is stand with the couple as they get their scores, and since there are always pros and celebs hanging around in the skybox, I think it should just be a random thing that someone in the skybox grabs the mic and does that bit. I think that would be a lot more fun all the way around, and Tom for sure would have fun with the spontaneity of that kind of set-up.
Rhetological fallacies 101: ‘Appeal to Wishful Thinking’.
You don’t like Erin so you sprint to believe rumors that DWTS is unhappy with her in order to justify your negative opinions and dislike.
Like nearly everything else that ‘leaks’ about this show it’s pure speculation and a waste of everyone’s time. Yawn.
I imagine TPTB got exactly what they wanted; more hard hitting interviews. I doubt the cast was thrilled to hear her say last week that she was using her sideline skills, since it seemed she was trying to raise controversy by asking about what a pro whispered to his partner.
In the grand scheme of the problems in the world, it means nothing. Using it to see if the show in going in a more mean spirited direction, it’s interesting since personally I wonder if that says something about our society.
I might’ve believe if it came from more reputable source. Life & Style needs to go to what they do best, covering The Kardashians and The Bachelor.
Well, the local sports radio guy had an unflattering story about Erin about 6 months ago. He said that she was a nasty, rude person (or words to that effect). He wouldn’t elaborate unless “it came out through another source”. But he tell a story about when he first met Erin and she accidently knocked the coffee out of his hand. She laughed it off without an apology as if it were a huge joke.
I got the impression from his hints that it had to do with how Erin treated the behind-the-scenes people, (cameramen, assistants, etc.). He said something like “Classy people treat EVERYONE with respect”. So this “rumor” doesn’t really surprise me at all.
I liked Samantha, I like Brooke, not a big fan of Erin but I think she’s doing OK. My only fear is if they replace Erin, we’re going to get Melissa Rycroft so I’m wishing Erin the best!
I tend to believe the rumors about Erin being arrogant, etc. She came across that way to me during the season she competed in.
I don’t mind Erin on camera so much, but I can believe she’s a bitch behind the scenes. So I might take Melissa Rycroft. Despite her manufactured win with Tony in All-Stars, she came across (to me) as a nicer person than Erin behind the scenes. So if she’s slightly better than Brooke with the questions, I’d be willing to give her a try.
I must be the odd person out because I actually like Erin, as an interviewer.
I get why some people got upset at her replacing Brooke, but in all honesty (insert “show of hands here” comment if we could see hands through the comments) how many people actually gave Brooke a lot of flack, and said similar things about Brooke that are now said about Erin? I know many people said “Brooke can’t interview” and the infamous nickname she had of “Brookebot.” Is Erin perfect, no. Is she trying a little too hard to match Tom? Yes, but she is trying. Plus I like the fact that she asks more divergent and convergent questions, as opposed to closed ended questions like “how did that feel?”(<–Worst interview question ever).
Although, I will admit, I also like Susan's comment (#12) that they should just have someone random in the skybox do the interviews(they could even take turns Maks interviews Derek, Derek interviews Cheryl, Cheryl interviews Val, Val interviews Karina, etc.) I wonder what questions they would ask each other? *begins to think of ways to make this happen and returns to my little corner*
I think Erin is actually a great fit. I think she brings some funny to the show, she asks the right questions, and she seems to get along with Tom. Brooke seemed a little too “fake” during her interviews (I don’t think she’s a fake person, just she was a bit too rehearsed for the interviews). It was a little awkward and I was sick of hearing about how she won with Derek. I think Erin is fresh and brings some fun to the show; I also laugh at her comments, how about her “Hey-Ohhhh” when she interviewed Jeremy, that was great. I am anxious to see how much better she does as the season progresses and she becomes more comfortable.
I absolutely believe that Melissa is a very nice person and certainly nicer than Erin – but man, I just don’t think I’d be able to stand all that chipper and all those teeth. 🙂
We’ve heard Erin both weeks talk about Maks…is it because she LOST that people don’t mind hearing about it?? 😀
Yeah, people complained about Brooke, me included…but I NEVER thought Brooke was a straight up Bitch like Erin is, and that’s a rather important bit that some people are conveniently ignoring.
What else is he going to say? Why some folks make it in show business and others don’t is beyond me. Here’s a novel idea: have a former pro be the co-host?
I did think she was a bit more low key last week. Perhaps she watched the first episode and cringed like many of us. Given the audience backlash I do not believe she will last beyond this season however.
I would be perfectly happy if they eliminated the co-host position, altogether. I would not miss it at all.
I also watch “The Voice” (I record it), and the interviews by Christine Milan backstage was the part I always FF’d through. I like her just fine, but don’t like the interview stuff. Does not add one little bit to the show, for me. When I record DWTS, I always FF through the interview to the scores, then move on.
Oh, I meant to say, when Christine left The Voice, I didn’t miss the interviews at all, and was glad they didn’t just fine someone else to do it. They eliminated the position.
I have learned from soap operas that these so-called insiders are just that. Insiders who know nothing. Now, I’m not saying there isn’t any truth to this. But, I would err on the side that this is completely false.
And yes I like Erin. I watch a lot of sports and think she does a fine job with her sports reporting. And I think she is doing a fine job on DWTS.
Erin was way better in week 2 but still needs to work on some stuff. Some celebs clearly don’t care for her (Cody doesn’t seem to like her at all) and something tells me that if the pros don’t like her she won’t be asked back.
Of course he says they’ve “been getting on brilliantly.” It would be really awkward to say otherwise this early in the season!
About the Erin rumors … I have to agree with Linde who said ‘Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire’.
Erin is loud, pushy, brash … like fingernails scraping the blackboard to me. While Brooke might not have been the greatest of interviewers, it was obvious she was kind and caring … definitely not a vibe I get from Erin.
If they replace her with the likes of Melissa Rycroft … ACK!!! While she seems like a nice person … doubtful I could, or would want to take her uber-syrupy sweetness each week.
I guess they want a woman in that spot, but personally I thought Drew did a great job standing in for Samantha back in Season 5.
