Bruno Tonioli Chats On Julianne Hough, Len Goodman, and Keeping DWTS Fresh (New Interview)

More with Bruno Tonioli!! Parade interviewed him about Dancing With The Stars. He talks of why Len Goodman needs some time off this season. He also chats about Julianne Hough and keeping the show fresh. More below. Don’t miss reading the full interview at Parade.

How do you think she’ll mesh with the rest of the judges?
“She’s not a beginner in that respect as well. And I think in general, not just with Julianne, you have to be yourself. You have to express yourself and your own feelings. You can’t really worry too much about what the others are going to say. You have to stick with your thoughts and express your thoughts and your feelings in a way that I think connects with the public. My definition of it is that I don’t see myself as there to make an ultimate decision. I feel you have to engage with the public. I don’t consider myself as this totalitarian ruler, I think what you have to do is engage the public into a kind of conversation. We have our opinion and I’m not saying I’m right, but that’s what I feel, and you want to connect with an audience so they feel they can have a conversation with you and I think she can do that very well.”

What are some other changes fans can look forward to this season?
“I think another thing with DWTS is that it’s a constantly evolving show. I think, having been there from the beginning, there’s no drastic changes, but there will be these little things that will keep it fresh and evolving. The dancing is getting better, the production is getting better. I almost say it’s like a love affair, to keep a lover interested you can’t change too much, but you have to always surprise them [laughs]. And that’s really the key to keeping the show fresh and exciting. Our fans are so lovely and so loyal and we’ve never taken them for granted. We’re not just showing up and doing more of the same, we try to keep it real.”

Two more days and counting!
