DWTS19 Michael Waltrip Putting On His Boogies Shoes And More – New Interview
Michael Waltrip tells Sacbee.com that doing Dancing With The Stars has been a lot of hard work, but, the experience has been “amazing”. Below is more. He’s such a great guy. More at the link on his racing adventures this weekend.
Waltrip said he’ll arrive in Roseville on Friday night for a sponsors’ dinner; on Saturday morning, he and “Dancing with the Stars” partner Witney Carson will find a suitable dance space in Roseville to practice for Monday’s show.
“The producers of the show asked me if I’d be interested in competing and I said yes almost instantly,” Waltrip said. “Then I hung up and said, ‘Shoot, I don’t know how to dance.’ ”
Despite low scores each week, Waltrip has advanced through four eliminations. He said this week’s theme is disco, so the boogie shoes will be put to good use.
“This whole dancing thing has been way out in left field for me,” Waltrip said. “But the experience has been amazing. It’s a lot of hard work to get the routines down. It’s been crazy, and I can’t believe how much better I’ve gotten, and that’s because of my great partners.”
Waltrip has dedicated himself to the dancing competition much as he did when he was a driver and now as a car owner for Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers. Bowyer is 18th in the Sprint Cup standings and Vickers is 22nd. Waltrip, who has driven three Sprint Cup races this season, is 45th.
I gotta be honest, not sure if the “Boogie Shoes” on Michael… is scaring me or not!!!
Michael is this fearless race car driver that literally takes his life into his own hands every time he gets behind the wheel… yet, he comes off as a sweet, scared, insecure 6’5″ little boy at times. Part of me thinks he’s scared to death to be away from Emma.
“Boogie shoes” on Michael is definitely scaring me. 😀
That said, I’m impressed with how fearless Michael is. The guy is way out of his comfort zone, but he’s handling it with positivity and good humor. He probably does miss Emma, but Witney isn’t too intimidating. I think Peta or Cheryl (for different reasons) would have freaked him out.
