Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week Three – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)
Well, I don’t know about you all, but in this saga known as DWTS, I fully expect Rumer to get a tongue bath whether she deserves it or not, and Nastia/Riker/Willow (or any combination thereof) to get relentlessly nitpicked over something stupid…most likely something they have little control over, like music…in order to make sure the leaderboard changes up again. Anyone willing to take that bet?? 😀
Very nice opening pro dance!!
Already prepping the audience for leaderboard switchup.
What monkey dreamed up Disco Salsa, not that it will matter. Loved her outfit this week and the dance was very good. It was just so weird.
CAI – thanks for giving the money on the bet that some wack judge will complain about something out of a dancer’s control. Just didn’t think it would be Rumer. I expect it to be worse with other contenders.
Gotta cut Charlotte some slack – girl has to work when she has the chance. Charlotte looked very beautiful – but I don’t think Keo is doing her any favors with the choreo. Super crappy comment by Bruno, he should be ashamed.
Sorry, I missed Michael. Boo.
No, Riker. No. But beside the chest thing, I thought his dance was really good, except he still has a bit of that feminine thing going on that Allison needs to get rid of. Good dance though.
Ha, androgyny. I’m not sure that was worth of three 9s. But I am happy they’re at the top of the leaderboard. 🙂 Downside – they are trying to give Rumer an arc,
You go, Suzanne. I can’t believe she’s 68. And she’s turning Tony into a Soprano. 🙂 Not a bad dance, all things considered.
Okay. I saw the sexy, Chris. And that dance wasn’t horrible, really. It was simple, but Witney needed to do that – he’s not Alfonso.
Anyone else think that Robert is like if Robin Williams and Derek had a baby together?? He looks like a merge of the two, oddly. It’s not bad – I have a mad crush on him and I think that dance was pretty darn good.
I still wanna be Patti when I grow up. 🙂 She didn’t do a ton of dancing…but she has swagger.
Willow is so freakin’ cute!! I love her!! But she does show her age in the Paso, she’s not quite as intense as the older folks. But damn, that’s was pretty good!! Well, done, girl.
Yeah, that’s what I was seeing – her core isn’t solid. Couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But dang, girl is good,
Wow….that Samba was chock full of Samba. And hope the Henry fans are happy, since he got credit. But by my math, four rehearsals with Derek versus two rehearsals with Henry ain’t even close to half the time. Just saying.
So…I lost track – Riker in first place, Nastia in second….
Derek/Nastia are safe.
Chris, Noah and Charlotte in Jeopardy….
Next couple safe is Noah and Sharna.
And going home is….Charlotte and Keo. Called that one, I’m sad to say.
well, she will also probably be complimented on how amazing her body looks in the hideous costume!! not feeling that at all.
Ah, Latin night, aka skimpy costumes and open shirts for everyone.
At least the opening wasn’t just a bunch of women dancing, so props to Mandy Moore on that.
Was that Derek I saw in the pro opening number? How does he even have time for that??? lol
The opening pro dance was really good! I also loved the purple and red costumes on the ladies.
Oh Vey! Suzanne looks like the love child of Big Bird and Carmen Miranda.
Rumer sure have a nice body but the dress?…not so much. Forgettable dance to me. Sorry.
I AM ALL ABOUT RUMER’S DISCO OUTFIT….. and I think Val looks really weird in a 70’s suit. lol. I agree, that was a weird concept for a Samba but it was pretty cool.
Rumer gor 8,9,8,8! I was expecting higher!
Oh well, she was first…
I actually really like the feel of Rumor and Vals dance. I do agree that she could be a little more free but she had a good amount of content. I love her costume she looks fierce. And who knew Val could rock a disco suit? I also liked the intro for tonight. There was so much going on and a few spots could have been smoother.
Loved the group opening dance a lot. But now to rumor lol. They seemed normal this week (didn’t see any of their live feeds….of there was any) so I could be wrong? But fun dance and it reminded me of Austin powers in goldmember lol. The scores were odd to me becuase I feel like the 8s were right but the 9 not so much. Also, I really want to go to a rollar rink now but in normal shorts lol.
Side note: Erin looks amazing. Like the best I’ve seen her look so far.
PH I wouldn’t take that bet on any week. I am betting there was a lot going on backstage when they fell from the top. After all this is Val’s season. I don’t mind Rumor but I hate the attention that is going to be focused on Val.
Val had a shirt on the whole dance! That has to be a first for him on Latin night.
Over all a really good dance by Rumer and Val. Though Len, please do not boost Val’s ego anymore. Best dance of the season. It’s week three. Ugh
You’ll note, Megan, that he’s only in the large group parts that he can probably pick up in 15 minutes.
@Heidi – I thought about that after I typed it, but it’s still kind of amazing lol
Couldn’t they find another costume for that opening number? I feel like this is the 3rd time they’ve used it already (the opening with Jason Derulo is the time that really sticks out, plus another time that season).
Wasn’t impressed with that rumba Keo & Charlotte just did. Didn’t really see a connection between them (especially compared to Nastia & Derek last week). Her costume is beautiful though! I like Keo as a dancer, not impressing me as a pro.
Does anyone know the name of the song in the opening number 2nite? I tried to shazam and sound hound it and nothing came up
Charlotte and keo…..oh gosh. I liked it but something about that dance didn’t click with me. Keo complaining about the phone was sorta weird becuase I’ve never seen him like that but he sorta was right. Scores were about what I expected and I agreed more with the 6s.
Ugh, just when I thought Len couldn’t make his Val bias even more obvious. A nine for a salsa with little salsa content? If Derek had done that it would have been a six or seven.
Good for Tom for his quip to Bruno regarding the his classless remark about Charlotte’s intelligence.
The Rumba was the first dance I’ve seen from Keo that I really, really liked. Unfortunately Charlotte had no hip action or proper foot placement at all. She looked really lovely in her costume, so there’s that at least.
Rumer was great (of course) but was it a Salsa? Was it a Disco? The world may never know!
Oh Charlotte.. girl.. I love you but: rough package that showed a pretty bad attitude, not that great of a dance, getting beat by the judges and baaaad scores… Yeaaah. If she doesn’t go home tonight then she’s probably gone next week. I did think her flexibility and some of the “pictures” as Julianne called them, were GORGEOUS but was there reall Rumba content there? Sigh.
I was rooting for you girl but not sure I liked you tonight as much as before:(
Lol VIn. Goldmember…love that comparison! I agree with the 9…it wasn’t the best dance but it was good.
I am learning so much about Charlotte. Dyslexia is rough stuff! I wish she would get into the dance a bit more she is still a bit stuff. She didn’t really move those hips. Way to put your foot in your mouth Bruno! Carrie Ann critique I think was spot on. She was positive and gave good criticism. Len and Bruno were a little mean. Wowza, 6’s and 7’s I could see but 5’s. She didn’t forget any steps and she seemed to know where she was going. She’s still a little choppy but it’s week 3 give the girl a break. I’ve seen way worse score way higher!
Ok I understand that Charolette may not have been the best this week but what makes it okay for Bruno to say that she is just a pretty face and not very smart. It really bugs me when last week he put down people for bullying her yet he then makes a comment like that this week. That comment had nothing to do with her dancing so why was it said?
Peta put way too many tricks into that Salsa…. it was weird. And Michael’s outfit might be the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Ever.
I am so glad I have a mute button on my remote. Really not interested in what the judges are saying tonight. Listening to them crushing some contestants and not others is painful.
For me, Charlotte’s heart isn’t in this but Bruno’s comment was so incredibly rude! I cannot believe he actually said that. Shame on him.
I though Michael and Peta were a little boring. Michael was a little stiff and Peta did a lot of dancing around him. She looked amazing of course. Scores matched the dance.
Michael and peta were sorta a letdown for me. Carrie Ann hit the nail on the head with her critique in my opinion. He has the skills but that dance wasn’t his cup of tea. Nice costumes though! 🙂
@Cindy: I agree. That might well be the most insulting thing anyone has ever said on the show. He should apologize on camera for that.
Man, why are the judges crapping on Michael so much? He looked a little too tight and in his head but the lifts were actually really well done. Perhaps Peta should have taken out some lifts and concentrated on actual Salsa steps.
I did feel bad for her during judging and scoring. She looked almost ready to cry.
I just got a quick peek at Nastia in her costume. She looks incredible!
Rikers salsa was a 10 from me. wow. week 3
For week three, that was an amazing dance for riker. If someone would have told me in week one that he was going to be a chameleon. I would have said never in a million years but he really is one on the dance floor. Fun costume and gotta give him credit on going for the shirt thing becuase he didn’t seem so keen on the idea when she said it lol.
Riker is so freaking adorable! By far my fave dance so far. He had his feet going! He was looked strong this week. I loved Allison’s choreography this week it was modern but still worked for a salsa! I even like his costume and don’t even get me started on Allison’s. Gosh, one day when my going to the gym pays off I want an outfit like that. Lols.
What’s gotten into the judges tonight?? Jesus.
They makeup dep needs to cool it down with the guys makeup, Riker and Robert look almos irrecognizable tonigh.
Allison is really starting to grow on me. The choreography for that salsa was a lot more salsa to me than the other two so far. I do enjoy her partnership with Riker. I had no idea who he was before the cast announcement, but I really like his personality in the packages. I was impressed by the way he could compliment Derek & Nastia, too.
Michael & Peta were a little disappointing. I loved the lifts, but with the shorter dances it was too much. IMO. Riker & Allison best dance so far. Left me with a big smile.
I totally enjoyed Riker’s salsa but what the heck is up with Len. Never mind, guess he has to lavish all his praise on R&V.
I don’t know it it’s because of the judges or the dances but this whole night is just feeling off, for me. I’ve just felt so underwhelmed by every dance so far, though I did think the opening dance was great. In the past, even if I’ve disagreed, I’ve always had respect for Len but this season that respect is dwindling by the episode. First week, the proclamation is made that this could be Val’s season and now in week 3, Val has choreographed the best dance of the season. Really, Len, can you at least try to tone down the pimping to just obvious and not rubbed in our faces? And Bruno’s comment was just appalling.
Riker did so amazing tonight. His footwork was flawless! Him and Allison are really starting to grow on me
I think the cool thing about Riker is that he commits completely to Allison’s choreography. She is such a beast of a dancer and he keeps up. The first dance I would youtube so far tonight.
Damn! Riker KILLED it! Holy hell this guy is GOOOOD. And call me crazy but at times, for like a quick second, it looked like it was Season 5 Derek dancing out there 😛
Contrary to Michael, I wasn’t totally crazy about Riker on Week 1, but he has made me a big fan these past two weeks. I don’t know what Len is talking about saying he isn’t one of the best this season. I think he is even better than Rumer. Also agree with Julianne THAT was a Salsa! It’s been a while since I have seen a Salsa that not only looked like one, but felt like one.
The one thing I noticed is that some of his movements, mainly with his arms, are still looking a bit too.. feminine. Other than that, I loved it
Wow…that was a good salsa. Len is jumping on Va’s bandwagon already. Boo. Oh Charlotte, if you want to stay you need to show the viewers you’re willing to work hard.
I guess Len gives 7’s to anyone related to Derek. What a crock. Agenda anyone.
Oh god, That wasn’t a 7. 1 point better than Michael? Sheesh.
I apologize in advance for how brief this message is but I hit submit too soon and forgot to add – Riker was awesome! By far the best dance of the night, so far!
PJ, Len’s agenda is Rumer and Val winning imo.
Um that’s a lot of 9s there riker lol. Didn’t see that coming at all. Suzanne and tony are too adorable together. those costumes…..love it. Gotta wonder why only two of the three troupers were in red though. But If that’s the only thing I’m criticizing, that’s a good thing.
Bruno usually makes me laugh….but tonight he made me gasp. He was insulting!!! He needs to apologize to Charlotte then take her to lunch and talk to her to discover that she has a brain.
Len is freaking cray cray. A 7 for Riker? Really Len. Who pee’d on his capezios?
Suzanne has her own fruit hat. Omg, I am dying right now! Whoo, she is moving those feet and legs this week. I liked the choreo more this week over last and she killed it all the way until she got to the end. Then it got a little weird. She also rocked that hideous costume!!!!
I can’t believe Len preferred a disco salsa over Allison’s salsa. I guess Len is deteremined to make it Val’s season.
@ Judy totally agree. He is a TPTB stooge. lol
I am loving Suzann’s costume I know it’s a little out there but it matches her personality
It looks like Riker might be in the finals by the looks of the comments. Screw Len. He has no say on who stays and who goes.
Len is very confusing tonight. He really pimping Val and Rumer, saying that Riker isn’t the best dancer. Then saying all positives about Susanne. Len what is going on!
Tony just made me laugh with his comment about wanting the fans to vote for them because the judges where not on there side. The judges don’t seem to be on anyone’s side but Val’s tonight. Len ecspecially.
I get what CAI was saying with her remarks on wanting to see less distraction and more content in her dances. Suzanne doesn’t need giant fruit hats and thigh masters in her dances. She’s an actress and has stage presence, Tony should take advantage of that and showcase her more.
Granted, they’ve had three fun Latin dances in a row, but you can still have fun on stage and not let the dance turn into a wacky spectacle.
They are probably giving nice comments to Rumer because she doesn’t have a huge fan base.
OK, not a bad AT from Chris, but I think he needed to a bit more actual dancing. I have this feeling this will get 7s, maybe 8s.
Heck yes. If that’s not a comeback from Chris and Witney, then I don’t know what is. I really hope they don’t go home.
Ehh Chris was okay. He should get 7’s and 8’s for that dance.
Chris and witney were the comeback kids this week for sure but saying that it didn’t exactly make me think “he really went for it” either. The one moment that was really cool was the lift and then the lights on the floor. So cool to see the former champs just chilling and watching the show but especially cool to see Amber nd jr next to each other becuase they both have such awesome personalities and seem like they would get along.
Yeah, the 7s were fair.
Let’s go Chris! He did good but I feel like he could have had a little more sharpness. He definitely handled Whitney in those lifts and he was definitely in it with Whitney. Good connection. Let’s see what these scores look like. 7’s are fair but maybe one 8. He really committed to this dance.
Does anyone know the song in the opening? It’s bugging me that I can’t find it lol.
Yeah, that Argentine Tango was okay. I didn’t feel much fire from it and he didn’t really danced much.. but hey, like PH said, he’s no Alfonso.
I missed a bit of Suzanne’s dance and the judges’ comments so I’ll have to rewatch that and see why Tony was bickering with Carrie Ann. From the bit of the dance I saw, it looked a bit slow..
Robert’s dance was nice. ALthough it was pretty choppy. 7?
I love robert and kym but that dance didn’t do anything for me. He did good though.
Based on Len’s scores so far, he is really pimping Rumer and Val. He needs to go before the end of the season.
Robert and Kim are like Barbie and Ken. No joke. That’s who they remind me of! Man he is really pushing himself. Who knew a business guy would be such a emotional man. Not a lot of hips but in a few spots he did get them going. They have such a good chemistry. They look so beautiful together. Praying to the porcelain gods…lol. Carie Ann you are cray cray in a different way then Len. Okay I’m okay with those scores.
I think I’m going to ship Kym and Robert. They are cute 🙂 I think Robert need to give that Ferrari to her. Now back to dancing. Not bad, but so far I like Riker’s.
CAI it is only fair, since u make me “pray to the porcelain gods” when I listen to u speak.
I love Robert. He’s my favourite shark. But thats wasn’t an 8, sorry. Love him to bits though.
I thought Robert and Kym should’ve gotten at least one more 8. That was heartfelt and lovely.
Chris and Witney’s AT seemed unusually short to me. I know it was the same length as the other dances but it just seemed to be way shorter. I would have liked Chris to do some ganchos.
If they ever made a movie about Robin William’s life, Robert would be the perfect man to play him. The resemblance is uncanny. Don’t think Rob’s much of an actor though, sadly. Haha.
That was a nice Rumba. I was surprised with his hip action. It wasn’t totally amazing, but at least it was there. He and Kym just look so adorable together and the way they looked at each other during that dance? Oo la la.
I liked Robert and Kym. He could be around longer than people were giving him before the season started.
Len is so crabby tonight. He needs a happy pill.
CAI comment confirmed for me the judges agenda for this week (“the week of critique” no need to plain insult Charlotte thought)
Len always picks one contestant and pimps her throughout the season, like did w Janel, Meryl, now Rumer… I don’t understand his comment on Riker he probably is the best male dancer this season. I guess he just doesn’t like him, or Allison lol
When the judges start to get ridiculous w their scores/comments just ruins the rest of the night for me.
Robert looked good!!
That was a fun dance and patti always brings the fun but it’s my least fav dance from her so far (and that kills me to say). I also have an urge to ride a luggage cart on my next vacation (I’m a good adult lol).
I’d give Patti a 6. Just because I love her so much. HAHA.
The only scores I didn’t like so far tonight was the 9 for Rumor from Len and I feel like Charlotte should have had at least all 6’s. She remembered her dance steps where Syzanne messed up the end of her routine.
More gimicky stuff from Patti and Artem. I feel like she’s got the personality to sell anything but I also feel like she could handle a bit more steps. So tired of seeing her surrounded by guys and just shaking something and not really moving. Come on Miss Patty and Artem. Totally agreed with those scores.
Len is so crabby tonight
Not when it comes to Val, though.
Anyone else think that they’re using the troupe too much? I mean, you have all these extra dancers in almost every single dance. It’s too much.
Anyone know who Cheyenne is/where she’s from? I liked seeing Paul dancing with the troupe in that one bumper; I wish he’d been brought on this season.
@Lauren, I was wondering the same thing.
Oh man my mommy tears were out for Willow. I just want to give her some love! Her facial expressions were fierce. I think her body didn’t quite match her facial intensity but she was amazing. You go girl. She is so adorable I love her laugh. I think Carie Ann has been the best judge of the night so far.
Loved Mark and Willow’s dance. He’s very creative. I’ve only watched DWTS for 3 seasons, but I think his younger partners bring out that creativity and I really like it.
Willow and mark had a fun paso. Very intense and full of cool moments. Marks hair worked for this dance and costume. Like of jack frost was ever a live action movie, they should go to mark and be like put your paso look on lol.
I want a ticket on the Mark Crazy Train. I loved the concept and choreography of that Paso. Willow handled it very well. She has a fantatic work ethic. The costumes and makeup were really amazing too.
I liked Willow and Mark’s dance. Not as much as I liked their Argentine Tango, but it was still really good. I think she looked a bit worried at times and somewhat hesitant but hopefully next week she nails it again!
How did I forget that Nastia hadn’t danced yet! :O
I’m actually ver impressed with the scores (with exception of Riker’s 7 and Rumer’s 9)
Noah and Sharna!!!!!!!! That was so strong and so sharp and holy wow
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Noah and sharna killed that dance. Loved it.
I love Argentine Tangos. I’m definitely impressed by Noah’s strength and his ability to lift Sharna while she rocks it.
Wow. Again, Noah is just pulling the heart strings. I love that hes not going to compromise himself and who he is to add that arm. Sharna is doing so amazing with Noah and his choreography. I would have like to see more 8’s. That dance was amazing!
Carrie Ann just said she’s picky because everyone needs to be scored on a level playing field? Really?
Noah’s lifts were incredible. I like him with Sharma a lot.
I’m in CA so I am getting just a view on All Access….7’s for Noah? So far the scoring seems harsh tonight although I will have to wait for the broadcast out here.
What a hot Tango that was!
I really gotta give it to Sharna. I thought she did amazing choreography with Andy Dick and then she outdid herself with Charlie White. Now she’s outdoing herself even more with Noah. It’s incredible.
That lift was amazing too. Wowza!
My only complain is that I wasn’t totally crazy about Noah’s outfit for the night. Little too black for my taste 😛
Right now, I’m kinda torn on the arm. On the one hand, I’d like to see what he can do with a “proper frame,” as Sharna put it.
On the other hand, I’m loving what Sharna’s doing now. As some author i read once said, “Constraints can free the mind.”
What is with the claws being out tonight!!
Am I the only one that thought Noah and Sharna deserved a higher score? I mean, those lifts were great! And I have never seen some of those on the show. I mean, outside of the box.
And Bruno’s comment to Charlotte? That was nasty. Just nasty. I am glad Tom said neither are you. Like her or not, she isn’t on Jeopardy, she is on DWTS. As Sharna said, judge the dance, not the intellect (ok so Sharna said Pro, Im paraphrasing!
Sharna looks so stunning tonight, but then she almost always looks stunning.
Honestly, there were only one or two times when I noticed that Noah had only one arm in that routine. That’s astonishing. That’s thanks to Sharna’s choreography and Noah’s commitment, intensity and strength.
Wow! There was a lot of fast Samba content in that dance! I think she handled it very well. I really LOVE her costume. Gorgeous!
If you think about it Noah is made for lifts if they are catered to his right side. His core and other limbs have had to overcompensate in ways i can’t even understand because of his injuries. He is probably one of the strongest people that have ever been on DWTS with the exception of Amy Purdy. I am so happy he was paired with Sharna who is capable of choreographing for him.
Nastia’s hair is bothering me a bit. Definitly over that weird ankle fringe. She definitely had the most content in her dance than anyone. Go Nastia!
I wasn’t feeling Nastia’s hair until she actually danced. She totally worked that dance. I’m so impressed with Derek and Nastia but I have a feeling that package about them not dancing together and using Henry is going to get them some hate. Whatever, they are fabulous!
Loved Derek and nastia’s dance. Way underscored in my opinion.
I think Charlotte would have done better with another Pro. I love Keo but he just seems like he doesn’t know how to adjust his style of teaching to his students.
Maybe everyone will disagree with me here but I didn’t care that much for Derek and Nastia’s dance. I mean, the choreo was AMAZING. I just felt like Nastia looked uncomfortable. There wasn’t a lot of heat between her and Derek. I wonder if its just that gymnast mentality of no emotion. Or maybe its that they aren’t around each other that much. I didn’t think it was 9 worthy. Again, I know that this is probably an unpopular opinion.
Bruno hit it right on the nail with my slight issue with Nastia’s dance. At times she was just going too far back with her arms. It looked like she was bending in half! Other than that.. damn this girl can move! That was some serious bouncing and overall hotness.
Damn. Sucks that Charlotte was eliminated… I think it was bound to happen tonight or next week though (tonight was NOT a good night for her). I’m just happy she wasn’t the first out.
I’ll be honest now… I think I’ll be fine if Keo does not come back as a pro next season. I honestly don’t think he’s pro material at the moment. At this point, I’d rather have Henry. Or wait.. can someone give Sasha some sort of growing potion so that he can be a bit taller and get paired up with a celeb next season?
Not surprised that Charlotte got the boot; I just didn’t see her as having much of a fan base compared to Chris.
@Jenn (98): It’s pretty obvious that there are limitations on what Noah can do, especially with the above-the-knee amputation (I dread what might happen if they give him the Quickstep). On one of the rehearsals, Sharna actually said that she thinks that Noah’s strength means there are things she can do with him that she couldn’t have done with any of her previous partners.
I think my all time favorite moment of the night was when Len told Val and Rumer “Best dance of the season” then all these other couples came out and rocked it better than Rumer and Val. Really put your foot in your mouth there huh len?
I definitely feel for Nastia that she has 2 pros in a sense. I’m not feeling a strong connection between her and Derek because they aren’t able to practice together as much and that could definitely be a downfall. If they had more time, I think the connection would show and they’d really kill it.
I wasn’t too surprised about Charlotte, though I was thinking it was going to be Chris for a hot second
Nastia and willow didn’t get niticked and rumer didn’t get tongue bathed 😀 I thought for the most part the scores were good. I think patti is overscored a lot nd she doesnt rlly dance to me. I think rumer is an amazing dancer, id be happy if she won. Nastia deserved the top spot for sure, she danced great. Lol golden boy can get the #1 spot with half of everyones rehearsal time. Henry has an amazing bod btw 😀 brunos physics comment to Charlotte was so rude even if it was not intentional. Tonys attitude towards carrie annes criticism was a bit off putting though. My fave dance though was Robert and kim and sharna and noah and Chris and witney. Just my take though. 😉
Noah’s dances had sort of underwhelmed me in week 1 and week 2 but I realize there is not a whole lot can be done about it. But tonight, wow, I LOVED that. Sharna is earning her money this season making these dances work and that was gorgeous. Those lifts were far more solid than Peta and Michael’s and the dance had a great feeling. I was super impressed. Dance of the night for me.
I think I would more than fine if Keo didn’t return as a pro. He seems like a great dancer but as a teacher he kind of rubs me the wrong way. He doesn’t seem to be very supportive. I would have been interested to see how Charlotte could have done with another partner.
@Sam in a preseason interview with Noah they said he won’t have the jive or the quickstep as it could cause injury to his right leg.
I beleive Riker and Nasti is tied for first.
I know that I’m going to get a lot of heat for this…but I really think that Derek is stretched way too thin this season. I think that he could have done an awesome special tribute number for the 10th anniversary, but he just isn’t giving it his all in committing to the partnership with Nastia, and it’s starting to suffer. This was an interesting package, showing how Nastia splits her time with Derek & Henry. Even if it is 60-40 or 70-30, even she is used to committing to and working with one coach as she did for her gymnastic training. In any other season, this would be an amazing partnership. I think that Derek is an amazing talent, but he is just not the best coach and teacher that he could be this year. There are those who may say that even a diluted or distracted Derek is better than anyone else…but having seen what Derek can do full on, this just isn’t fair to Nastia.
As far as elimination next week…who knows? The judges were kind of all over the place this week!
Wow, what a night I loved it. The correct team went home tonight.
My faves: Nastia and Derek, Willow and Mark, Noah and Sharna, Riker and Allison. I also loved Chris and Witney tonight. I’m so proud of his improvement.
Andrea…I agree. I hate to say it, but, Keo isn’t cutting it as a pro.
Well, once again, I’m left with the notion that Bruno should be fired. Telling poor Charlotte she’d “never be a Nobel-prize-winning physicist”… Why is it that being on DWTS means that you “get” to work your butt off so that “Curly, Moe, Larry, and Julianne” insult you?
And then CAI questioning Riker’s “testosterone level”? And actually questioning ALLISON’S testosterone level? I was appalled. Completely appalled.
Enjoyed Riker & Allison, also Michael & Peta. Was pleasantly surprised that TPTB didn’t hose Robert & Kym with the package (I’d heard online it was going to be risque)… and it looks like Kym has him toned-down quite a bit. Good for her.
Thought Willow & Mark knocked it out of the park; also thought that Nastia and Derek did the same – I LOVED that samba!
JMO, but I think Patti should withdraw. Seems like her knee is probably just too banged-up to give it the effort it needs. But all in all, not a bad night!
I really enjoyed Sharma and Noah AT. The choreography was spot on and the lifts were really good. Willow and Mark’s Paso was again very creative, but Willow seemed a little hesitant sometimes. Maybe she was still having some discomfort. Nastia and Dereks chemistry is off. It could be her gymnastics background or she really isn’t that comfortable dancing with a partner. Also having to dance with two pros can be confusing.
Bruno needs to personally apologize to Charlotte. His comment was rude and unforgiving. Unnecessary. Thank you Tom for coming back with that quick response. Keep also needs to work on his teaching skills. Bring Henry back as a pro.
Tense night…what was with all the negative comments from the judges, pros and celebs? Big turn around for the positivity of last week. I guess we are getting into the middle of the competition and things get real very quick on this show.
Riker was the standout for me tonight. He definitely has things to improve on but he just has that it factor and knows how to sell a dance. Noah’s AT I thought was fantastic also and I’m glad they didn’t use the arm…made the lifts all that more impressive! I also enjoyed Willow, Chris, Nastia and how can you not like Patti? I agree that they are definitely trying to give Rumer an arc/storyline and almost screwing Nastia in the process.
Surprised to hear Chris wasn’t in the true bottom two. I’m going to guess Suzanne was maybe the other person.
My favorite dances of the night were, in order: Riker & Allison, Willow & Mark, Noah & Sharna and Robert & Kym.
Everyone else I pretty much just forgot about or just didn’t stood out as much for me.
Hard to call next week’s elimination right off the bat. If I had to take a very wild guess I would say Patti. However, I feel like she has at least another week in her. The one I’m worried the most for is Michael. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was eliminated next week, which would be a shame but tonight’s dance was just not good, imo.
WOW is all I can say about Sharna and Noah. Sharna KILLED the choreo this week and I am so amazed by the lifts and strength that Noah constantly displays.
I agree with you Vogue…Keo is just not cutting it as a pro for me either. We have seen 4 of his dances and honestly I haven’t like any of them, and I feel like they lack content. Charlotte bowed out gracefully though…what a kind speech in the end.
There is also something about Allison that I just cant connect with. Even when I watch her preform latin numbers she just doesn’t seem to connect with the dance. She is an amazing contemporary/jazz dancer but I just don’t enjoy her ballroom/latin performances. I’m hoping for a pro switch up next season with Keo and Allison out.
I love a good samba and Nastia and Derek brought it this week! Really bummed out for Peta and Michael…honestly that song (in my opinion) would have been better paired with a cha cha and not a salsa…I think that is what kept them off beat a lot of the time. Nothing Peta or Michael could have done about it though!
Excited for next week…I bet we will see a contemporary piece or two!
The Batchelor fanbase must have got right behind their man if Chris wasn’t even in the bottom 2. I’m gonna guess either Suzanne or Michael was the other person. Fully expect Patti, Suzanne and Michael to be the three in jeopardy next week.
I’m not gonna crucify Bruno for his comment to Charlotte because I know he didn’t mean it in a bad way. But I hope he apologizes to her after the show because it came across really bad on TV. If Tom didn’t step in with that comment it could have got really nasty in the audience.
Sorry for the typo I meant Keo not “keep”.
Interesting night. Michael/Peta a little disappointing. Riker/Allison this guy is really growing on me enjoyed it. Charlotte/Keo package said it all but less enthusiastic about seeing him return next season
Chris/Whitney good for you!! Rumer/Val good not 9 worthy seemed more disco than salsa Suzanne/Tony entertaining good for you Tony! Patti/Artem underwhelmed but love their partnership Noah/Sharna WOW!!! Robert/Kim sweet Mark/Willow the guys creativity/artistry is mind blowing love him more and more a little turned off by her constant reminder of her age in the package
Nastia/Derek seems that many are noting that his schedule is the source for their lack of chemistry but IMO it’s her not sure what it is but she comes across as a little cold just not feeling a connection to her. We’ve seen a good share of Olympians who are used to working solo and were very successful with partnerships on the show. Again to me it’s something with her in regards to that connection thing. Dance was fabulous…watching their live streams seems to me he is giving his amazing everything like always. So happy he is back again!! Actually like that the scores aren’t jumping so high so early in the season. Except for that odd 9 from Len–love you Len knock that off!!
@Meghan Thank you for reminding me about Charlotte’s farewell speech. When she told Keo that all she wanted was to make him happy my heart shattered. Such an “AWWWWW!” moment. This girl is amazing. I thank this show for introducing her to me because I am now excited to see what else the future holds for her.
How I would have loved to see her dance with Derek at least once and see the dancer he could have pulled out of her. I just feel like Keo never really got anything out of her besides great lines and flexibility.
Loved Nastia’s and Derek’s dance the most. They are showing great chemistry together. Nastia is relaxing and enjoying the dance and Derek. Their chemistry in this Samba was fantastic. Great performance.
Can we talk about that reverse section in Nastia & Derek’s samba though???? Like wow. The man never ceases to amaze me.
I agree with Sally, comment #115. The show tonight was ruined for me by Bruno’s rude and insulting comment to Charlotte or anyone for that matter. How can he get away with this ? Take note producers, public apology needed. Discuss dance steps and progress. He went too far !
Derek’s samba with a shit ton of Samba content got an 8, while Val gets a nine for a disco salsa?? Yeah, Len has always had the scoop on what the producers need, I guess.
Maybe I’m giving the producers WAY too much credit for being Machiavellian – or just trying to make Val happen – but they sure seem to be walking Val/Rumer back from the massive over hype of week 1, and following her less that politic comments. Are they trying to give her an arc?? Because everyone else has one, even Nastia.
It’s NOT okay for Bruno to say what he did, Mainegirl. Not at all. Blonde and beautiful does NOT automatically mean stupid. Unless YOU are stupid. Good one on Tom for pointing out that he’ll never get a degree in physics either. Far from it.
I don’t know why some keep commenting about Nastia and Derek lack of chemistry. To me Nastia has improved so much compare to week 1. She’s more relax. I was kind of worry the first week because she seemed stiff but this week I like her more. There’s a fun side of her. I personally admire her work ethic especially after she hurt her thumb and saying, “don’t worry, I compete with a broken ankle before.” Wow. She’s a tough girl 🙂
When I saw the opening pro dance with 10 couples instead of nine, I started looking for the two additional people. Lauren and Haley (#’s 80 and 81) mentioned Paul (who I recognized from SYTYCD), but who is this Cheyenne? I tried Google but got references to dance shows in Cheyenne, WY! Anybody know her background?
And I wonder if we’re going to have eight in the troupe from now on?
BTW, that was a tremendous flip in the opening pro number when Lindsey launched Henry(?)!
I’m not overwhelmed this season so far, but even though he’s not going to win, I have to ay that Robert is my favourite this season so far. He’s just having way too much fun. And he’s improving. Love him and Kym together.
Oh and I meant to say that I’m tired of hearing Willow mention she’s 14. Yes we get it. You’re 14. Youngest ever. Now just dance. It’s beginning to become annoying. Love Mark’s choreography this year though.
Can we have just one week FREE of pimping?! I’ve been holding my patience since season 18. Would it require a miracle for that to happen?
Don’t you notice a trend, Lotus. A C-bro was dancing with each of those contestants. Whereas when Derek dance with Nicole, Len lowballed her all season.
As much as I Loved Mark and Willow, I’m not sure the dance lived up to the hype from our source. Best Mark Paso ever? Eh…he’s done some amazing stuff, setting his own bar pretty high.
Rumer didn’t get tongue bathed, Jenny?? What do you call “best dance of the season” from Len?? Definite tongue bath.
I think that the producer’s package put the “not a strong connection” in people’s heads about Nastia/Derek and people are believing it like a showmance. Because that’s what packages do. I’ve seen them interviewed together and I think they’re very cute together.
Thank you for your comment # 129, PH. It came up while I was writing mine.
Bruno’s comment just ticked me off.
And everybody who uses their cell phone tomorrow should thank Hedy Lamarr, the screen actress from the 1930-1950’s who was touted as the “world’s most beautiful woman”, for her co-invention of spread spectrum and frequency hopping communications which make cell phones, Bluetooth, and wifi possible.
Did I miss something (entirely possible) but how do we know Chris wasn’t in the bottom 2?? I only heard jeopardy.
Really, season 20 and I have to discuss the difference between a real bottom two and jeopardy?
Because, Thiana, packages work. 🙂
Honestly, that might be the best Samba Derek has done in years – I normally don’t care for his Sambas.
Derek is giving Nastia AMAZING choreo. I’m liking Riker more and more each week.
I like Allison, but I’d like to ask you guys… Do you think she choreographed that salsa all by herself?
The night was off for me too. It started with Tom. He just did not seem in sync out of the gate. Then Bruno shoots his mouth off, and there’s Tom, right person in the right place, with the right comeback. Game on.
Overall the show was entertaining. Cool costumes mediocre to exciting choreo from the pros. But yeah, I’m on the KEO’s not working as a pro, bandwagon.
I like Riker’s interviews. Still not much into the dances they are throwing down. For me it’s more him, than Allison. She has learned alot and her PRO chops are really showing.
As far as Len and his comments to Riker, let’s FF to week 9. Len: Riker, I told ya’ in week 3. You aren’t the best, but you could be! And this week proves that!” From LEN the TEN!
By week 9, he’ll be off Rumer and Val and more into the Riker/Allison camp. It’s his usual M.O.
Still love Robert & Kym. But he’s super touchy/feely with her. Starting to get creepy, IMO.
Derek/Nastia: This schedule would not work with most other PROs. Nastia is an athlete. She, like Derek, can learn the routine on the fly. At some point I expect for Len to say, “you just can’t move up the DWTS ladder, with this type of schedule. I’m sorry but it’s the truth.” BORING….
And regarding CAI-Asinine remarks. She owes Allison/Riker an apology about the testosterone shot. Time to mute both her and Bruno.
Finally I have decided, for me, that Latin night is my least fave. So hectic, so much intensity….All dark and shadow, no light and brightness!
footnote: Val’s abs cannot compete with Rumer’s toned physique. Therefore, no shirtless Val tonight. He’s met his match on that score, and he got the short straw!
My favs noah nastia willow and robert. I liked rumer in week 1 but last week and this she hasnt been as good well for me anyway she is lovely but something doesnt gel for me. Chris improved over last week and i think it was his best effort. Sorry to see charlottes dwts journey end it was nice seeing her dance .
Thiana, thank you!! I also thought Nastia was much more connected this week. She was invested and looked like she was having fun. Apparently, some here are smelling blood after the rehearsal package. Anything to bring Derek down 😉 The girl rocks and that dance rocked, and Derek is looking better than ever in my humble opinion.
When is Len taking his break? Week 4?
LOL PH: Yes: Bottom 2 vs. Jeopardy, it’s our favorite game each season. LMBO
West coaster here so coming in late. I have watched Riker and Allison a few time tonight and I loved it BUT I think Allison’s choreo is too intense or jerky or something. It looks to me that there is too much going on and it’s almost overwhelming and not in a good way – for me anyway.
I know salsa is fast, but even with her foxtrot she does a lot of the squatty, bent over moves. I think that is what CIA was talking about with the testosterone comment – she overwhelms him and she does not come across as feminine as the other female pros. Witney is kind of the same way, but less. I think they both are taking over their celebs.
Look at Noah and you see that he is all man and Sharna shows of his masculinity.
PH I do notice, what a shame.
Also, I wish the judges would give the celebs constructive criticism and how to fix or work on their mistakes… not just their insulting remarks. It’s not witty, it’s not funny, it’s unacceptable.
I hated how they treated Charlotte, they were super encouraging last week, and then they are quick to bring her down.
BTW I watched the All Access live stream and Emma was great! Much more pleasant than Anna. I hope she comes back again next week
I think those seeing the “non-connection” between Derek and Nastia are letting the package mind warp them, especially if that’s all they noticed about that dance. That was one of the best Samba’s ever done of the show and it’s week 3.
I have to wonder which way the producers are trying to spin this package wise. Are they trying to downplay Derek and Nastia and their partnership or are they trying to show the craziness and demands these two are actually going through because it could be an either or thing. It’s hard to tell.
But if they are shooting for the Val’s Season storyline, I could see them trying to paint Derek/Nastia’s partnership as less substantial to the others b/c they are one of the top competition teams against their chosen one. Of course when Derek puts out choreography like that, and his student performs like that and he does it in three days with cross country flights while performing in 10 shows a week then which pro and partnership comes out looking less substantial? Not Derek and Nastia.
@Carlos No I do not think that Allison choreographed that salsa herself. Her choreography this season has been much more on point than the disaster and lack of content from last season. LVA wrote two blogs recently about how many pros do not choreograph themselves…which is just annoying for him to bring up but whatever he is bitter….but in conclusion I truly think Allison is one of the people that gets outside help- and it is not bad that she does because she is not trained in ballroom/latin.
@PH, there was a source saying that its going to be Mark’s best paso? This early in the season? Wow, those are big expectations for week 3…
I thought Willow did well. Yeah, she wasnt as good as last week, but at least she did a respectable amount of choreography unlike the other comeptitors.
I agree that it gets a bit irritating that they keep saying her age in her VT, but I still love her to pieces. Based on scores alone (although that really isnt a good basis)and pure instinct, i think she will make the finals.
I thought the 8s were fair in comparison to the others. I was hoping she would gets 9s, but I dont think she deserved it for that dance alone. She looked better in rehersals.
At least she danced a paso doble, unlike others who danced a disco routine when they shouldve danced a salsa…
Well, just watched and am really surprised that Noah was in jeopardy. Don’t know if TPTB are just messing with our minds or not. Glad Charlotte got the boot. Bruno’s comment was sexist and uncalled for…not nice. I am already predicting the top 4 to be Rumer/Val, Nastia/Derek, Willow/Mark and Riker/Allison, not necessarily in that order. Chris and Witney better up their game or I think they may go next week.
The judges are a bit stingy with their scores this week. To me Len is giving low marks like he is on Strictly Dancing in the UK. I think that Rumer/Val’s scores could have been a bit higher. And I guess Maks did too. He must have been watching in the red room and I guess he didn’t like the comments Julianne made to Val and Rumer because a minute or two later he tweeted out an “Allergic to Bullshit” video, and then after that one of his cronies in NYC retweeted it and tagged Julianne on it. Guess he is also still bitter that Julianne is judging and he is not. Anyways Derek and Nastia looked great. They really do a good job with the limited time they have together.
Maks is such an a**hole, sorry can’t describe him any other way. He’s obviously bitter about not getting the judging gig . I can’t imagine other pros tweeting shit like this. He is the one who gave Amber’s perfect jazz a 9, when he knoWs NOTHING about jazz. Idiot should get a life other than hanging out in the red room. It wasn’t enough he was handed a win, he has to continue to act like a petulant child till his brother gets one too.
Ananya, he’s irrelevant and now that the showmance is officially over, even more so.
My favorites tonight: Nastia, Riker, Willow. As much as I love Sharkaroo, they didn’t do it for me tonight, but I’m looking forward to next week. The one who is growing on me by the week is Riker. Even though I’m getting way ahead of myself, what a finale showdown it would be to have him and Nastia fight it out and Derek and Alison going head to head too.
Anyone else feel like Riker and Allison just have shocker elimination written all over them? Like 6th or 5th place?
Yep Matt I I feel that way as well. Can see someone like Noah knocking them out the finals. I wouldn’t be upset either after how he flat out lied about his dance experience when there was no need to. I don’t care how good he is, I don’t have time for liars.
Thanks @Megan I’ve read that. And I havê to say that I think she improved on ballroom dancing. She’s a great dancer – there’s no doubt – but I still think something is missing…
Loved Noah and Sharna! She looked beautiful and the lifts were gorgeous! That ending pose lift was spectacular! I think Noah is stronger than Michael, who I thought was a hot mess with strange lifts. He and Peta just didn’t do anything for me. For me, Sharna is doing amazing work on choreo and Noah is doing so well! I hope they last well into this season.
I really think that Len likes to give lower scores to the people that are doing good. Maybe to create some non-existence competition? The two highest scores of the night (and my favorites as well) he scored them lower than the other judges. Yet the couples that could challenge those top spots he gave them higher scores (Rumer and Willow). Maybe the show is using him to try and persuade the views mind so that the season looks more competitive. Because of this, I love that they have another judge who is an expert at Ballromm (Julianne) now Len’s crazy comments don’t have to be taken as the “technical critique” (especially for non-dancers) because Julianne’s comments are also very educated.
PH totally agree! I’m not a fan of Sambas in the show in general! And definitely is not my favorite dances for Derek to choreograph for a partner. I like it when is performed by the pros, but usually in the competition, even the best dancers can’t get it right and it ends up looking weird. Loved Nastia’s today! (and is probably the second or third samba I’ve liked in 20 seasons next to Apollo and Julianne and Shawn’s all star trio)
Ugh! My computer is down only have an iPad to type on. So this will be short.
Riker and Allison, Derek and nastia and Michael and peta were my favs last night. I thought the judges were way too harsh on Charlotte and I felt bad for Michael, I thought he took at lot of heat from the stooges. Yes I said stooges. After len proclaiming Val and rumor disco samba the best of the season. Wth! I didn’t even think it was that great.
Enjoy reading everyone’s comments.
Matt #154, I hope Riker isn’t a surprise elimination. I was very meh on him before the season started, but he’s completely won me over.
He’s like a young thoroughbred racing horse who every now and then forgets how to move those long legs. I find it adorable. I also appreciate how pleased he is to be on the show and how hard he works.
I thought he did amazing in the Salsa. My only critique is with Allison’s choreography or rather how she dances with her partners on the show. There were times in the Salsa when I noticed her tendency to over-dance, overwhelm and place herself front in center instead of her partner.
I don’t think she’s doing this because she’s some raging ego maniac. She might not even realize she’s doing it.
And I do know that many of the lady pros will place attention on themselves with showy moves. Usually to draw attention away from the fact that their partners can’t dance! But Riker can dance. I want to see him
CAI and her way of saying something constr
I’m only going to comment on the couples I thought were memorable.
Rumor and Val I remember it for all the wrong reasons. “Disco Salsa” What was Val thinking?
Riker and Allison – Yes it was good. I don’t get all of the raves though. He was still standing pretty much in place at the beginning for about 15 sec. My attention was mostly on her the whole dance except when he did the “gymnastics moves”, and when they were dancing side by side really quickly. I really think it deserved all 8’s.
Anyone else think they are praising them and giving high scores because MAYBE his fan base isn’t voting? I think I may agree with Matt that this will be a surprise elimination.
Suzanne and Tony I feel like a broken record. It was cute, but I want to see her do a beautiful and elegant dance before she goes. Still, in this dance my eyes were on her.
Patti and Artem – No it wasn’t the best but I love, love, love Patti. My eyes were on Patti.
Willow and Mark – Loved it. I do think she was hesitant due to falls and maybe fear of messing up. I wonder how much better she would have done later in the season with it. Even though Mark was dressed like Mr. Freeze my eyes were still drawn to her dancing. Excited and a little scared about what Mark is planning for future dances. It’s only the 3rd week. She did not look happy about her performance. It could be she doesn’t think she did well or she was in pain. I’m starting to think she is the dark horse.
Noah and Sharna – Just Beautiful. I still can’t be objective about critiquing them.
Nastia and Derek – WOW why didn’t this get at least all 9’s. Again my eyes were on her all of the time even though Derek had his shirt off. LOL. She is so tiny. She was feisty, strong, and sexy. I don’t get where people are saying they don’t have a connection. Loved this!
Depending on their fan base I’m guessing Patti or Suzanne will go home next week.
I cut myself off too soon.
CAI sometimes has a way of saying her constructive critism in a completely non-sensical manner. I get her point about Allison but she said it in such a head scratching “say what!” way.
She’s like my neighbor’s Chihuahua. Barks constantly, runs around and prances like he’s on doggie meth, and all but practically shouts “Look at me! Look at me!” That dog is an attention hog and so is CAI.
Susan2 Just read your evaluation of Riker and Allison. This is the problem I have with their dancing, and I don’t know why the judges haven’t called them out. She definitely over dances him. It feels like smoke and mirrors. Maybe their trying to hide his past dancing experience by not going all out? I don’t know. I think it may hurt him later though.
I think that Cheyenne is Cheyenne Kanani Murillo. I saw her referenced/linked on a tweet on Brittany Cherry’s twitter. I don’t know much else though
I found some articles on Cheyenne online. Cheyenne is from Utah and it looks like she won the World Pro-Am in 2013. Looks like she has also won the Us national title in Youth latin
I sense that Rumer and Val did better at dress rehearsal and Len had his comment ready to go before they even danced. He didn’t count on the others stepping it up and knocking it out of the park. There is clearly an agenda and this season I think Len was tasked with mind controlling the viewers into believing Valrue walk on water. They would get the c-bro a win over Derek and I’m sure they’re hoping for more high profile visits from Willis. I think the wrench right now is Riker, which is why Len is lowballing him. I’m also seeing calls for an apology to Charlotte. I give a big yes to that suggestion. She handled herself beautifully, a class act.
Personally, Rose1, I hope Derek keeps eating the five meals a day because he’s starting to look a tad too thin. Maybe now that the NYSS rehearsals are over and he’s at most doing three hours on stage a day (which only has 1 rigorous (for Derek) routine), he can put a bit of weight back on. Other than that – very handsome. Men suck in that way – getting better looking with age. 🙂
I don’t get the “testosterone” comment – and found it a bit offensive, but what else is new – but I did see, still, a bit of the feminine arm/hands out of Riker. She has worked on it, though, because it was vastly improved from even a week ago. I think it’s mainly due to him mimicking Allison’s movements.
Yeah, Michelle, I don’t know what their goal is with that package – although Nastia and Derek gave them the soundbites they needed, no question (love the bit of them standing in Times Square with Derek on a giant billboard behind them, though). Although the inclusion of Henry and his bullshit was completely unnecessary – almost like they’re trying to feed the complainers on social media that Derek isn’t doing any of the work. But whatever their goal is/was, I don’t see it hurting Derek/Nastia, this week at least. I mean, that Samba was so chock full of content and so well performed that any of the minor details are nearly irrelevant. Now, if they keep it up over the next few weeks, then I’ll think that tearing Derek and Nastia down a bit in order to prop up Val is a goal.
Speaking of Rumer/Val and producers listening to the audience – anyone think they realized their error in the over pimpage right out of the gate??
It didn’t know who the third female dancer was, but was very happy to hear it was Cheyenne Murillo. Have actually met her brother Jared quite a while back, really nice guy and a real dancing family. He was a pro for 1 season of SCD back in 2010. Hope Cheyenne gets another chance to impress on the show later on in the season, I like the fact that the producers aren’t just looking at SYTYCD alumni to dance on the show.
Maybe Matt – either him or Rumer. I’m leaning toward Rumer right now because fans of her parents aren’t likely to vote for her, while Riker has a big fanbase. Although it’s a young one and you never know if the young ones are voting.
That testosterone comment was weird. I get what she’s saying, but she should have framed it as a specific “energy” instead of hormonal. But then again, what does CAI know if not hormones?
Also, Riker TOTALLY has young-Derek face when he dances. It’s uncanny.
Power Rankings are up: https://www.puredwts.com/2015/03/31/puredwts-season-20-week-3-power-rankings/
I forgot to mention the other bad habit Val picked up from Maks – there is always a long walking sequence in their dances. Last night it was walking across the elevated stage and then down the steps. Neither of them ever gets called for time wasting the way Derek has on many occassions – often in the same show.
Derek and Nastia’s samba was the the best dance of the night, imo, and deserved at the very least all 9’s. Again, they were underscored, imo. I’m not crazy about samba’s in general, but dang! This one was a beauty. Nastia was sexy, fluid, flexible and emotive, and I thought she had great chemistry with Derek. Congratulations to them for overcoming the challenges of limited rehearsal time and cross-country flights and showing us such stunning dances.
PH, agree with there being long walking sequences in Val’s choreography which he doesn’t need because she can obviously dance. What I am finding about their routines though, is that they all kind of look the same to my unprofessional eye. She has her attitude face and a lot of very short, fast movements. It could be the choice of music too but I find them very unmemorable and because she is so good that surprises me. I think they could be an early elimination but if the Riker has dance experience gets lots of attention, he might be in trouble.
I couldn’t believe Len said Rumer and Val’s dance was the best of the season. How could he possibly say that with a straight face? It was good, but I’ve seen better this season. Bruno’s remark about Charlotte was outrageous. He definitely owes her a public apology. After watching every rehearsal with Charlotte and Keo, I have come to the conclusion that they were both to blame for their elimination. Keo is too immature right now to be a teacher. I disagree with those who say he wasn’t very supportive of her. I think he was supportive of her, but his constant doting on her, did her no favors. He would swing from being serious one minute to being silly the next with every move she made, which contributed to her not staying focused. Having said that, however, Charlotte should have respected her teacher more than to spend so much time on her cell phone. I remember Kellie Pickler saying that she and Derek worked hard and they played hard. She said that when it came time to work, Derek was all work. I don’t think he, Val, or Mark, would have put up with Charlotte’s distractions, they would have definitely cracked the whip. As for the dances, Nastia and Derek killed it again, and Riker and Allison were amazing. Speaking of immature, Allison is almost unwatchable in rehearsals for me. I mean the girl is so hyper, I really don’t know how they are doing as well as they are. Anyway, my girl, Sharna, blew my mind last night with her incredible choreography. And Noah was just awesome.
Just a follow up question to something mentioned earlier last week about Patti. We we talking about who may be leaving and one of the moderators hinted something about Patti. A few of us commented about her knee injury. She did not move around all that much last night so I was thinking it’s still an issue. Has anyone heard anything more about it? From the post I had thought she was going to drop out. Was she going to and then changed her mind?
Patti’s knee (or foot, or whatever, I’m not sure what exactly it is now) is still an issue and was one of the reasons Artem had to drastically simplify their routine. She only got about 4 hours total rehearsal time last week, and did not even participate in the camera blocking. I think the WISE thing for her to do would be to drop out; but clearly she is gonna try and keep going…slowly, taking small steps, and riding on a luggage cart. 🙂
@princessheidi, my bad I forgot that comment. Nastia and riker got much better praised than last week, and well deserved.
Do you guys think by any chance the producers would ever consider getting all new Judges? I would like that I think.
Courtney – thanks for the update. You’re right, it would be wise to drop out for the simple reason she could really damage her knee….you gotta admire her attitude though.
I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed Emma, cohosting All Access last night. Her critiques of the dances was reasonable and professional. Her voice was easy on the ears and measured perfectly. She seemed to nail the good and not so good aspects of each dance. By the way, to her credit, she pointed out how Rumer and Val’s Salsa was more Disco than Salsa.
Knowing that Patti only got about 4 hours rehearsal time last week and has an injured foot/knee makes the judges comments to Artem about putting more content into her dances another ridiculous comment in a night filled with them.
They had to have known.
PH, I am with you on all your comments. I think poor Len is delusional in his old age. He is scoring what he wants to see as opposed to how these folks dance. “Best dance of the season” for Rumer and Val…OMG he has lost his mind I say. I like Len when he is fair and just gives facts. I can’t stand his critiques when he makes it personal and dictates who he thinks should win. Frankly, and you all may think I am the crazy one, I think he does it out of arrogance. I think HE BELIEVES he knows more about dance than anyone else and therefore can make the viewers choose he wants to win. While Bruno may have made the comment about the “physics” ability, it is really Len who treats we the viewers as “dumb blondes.” I didn’t like the stand-in judges last year who “phoned in” the critiques but I also don’t like the irrational statements made by Len this year. Okay done with my rant..lol. I guess “evil Lynne” made a showing again…lol.
