Derek Hough Hurt And Had To Go To The Hospital After Dancing With The Stars

First, don’t panic, but, according to Derek and Mark ballas’ instagram accounts, Derek had to go to ER last night. Apparently, Derek hurt his leg or foot…or maybe both? Below are the instagrams. Let’s be hoping and praying Derek is ok. We’ll update this post as soon as we learn more.
ETA: Here is what Gossip Cop is reporting for when Derek got hurt…
A rep for “Dancing with the Stars” only tells Gossip Cop, “We can confirm he was injured rehearsing for the ‘DWTS’ 10th Anniversary special.” See photos below.

I hope it only affects the radio city show and not the rest of dwts…maybe if he sits out a week…he’ll heal faster from whatever…sending good healing vibes to him.
Yikes. Wonder if he has a couple of stress fractures. Considering how much dancing he has been doing, that could be possible. I think it will be awful if he has to withdraw from DWTS although after last nights judging he must be pretty sick of it tbh.
I wonder if medical updates/information are being delayed until NYSS powers have time to access any damage if any

Wow Suzanne ur selfish. I hope it only effects dwts.radio city is dereks career now and I’d rather him have to quit dwts. I just hope he’s alright but if it comes down having to choose radio city is the best way to go
I hope it’s not as bad as Mark makes it sound. As I recall Maria had to wear a cast but was still allowed to dance. Still, ugh!!!!

Derek has to Tap dance on NYSS. I don’t know how you do that with a major injury on the feet. Hopefully it’s not that bad.

Actually, NYSS is far less taxing on Derek than DWTS is. But if he can’t get cleared by the doctor, he won’t be doing either show. He doesn’t get to decide.

Thank you for posting the pic of Derek’s feet, Mark and BC in the ER. I was checking on Derek’s IG to see how he was and the post was taken down. I thought I imagined it there for a minute. If I remember correctly, Derek said something about it not being good news and not believing it. I just hope he’s going to be OK and heals quickly! Saying prayers for him.

I wrote this in another post (sorry I didn’t realize you had created this one) but the fact that they are the ones making it public makes me think it might not be something so bad that affects his NYSS as I think that if that was the case, they would make an official announcement, not informally through IG.
But now if Dee2 is correct and he deleted his post, that worries me…
Primarily I hope he will be healthy because we know how important his body is for his career and life (and all the other dancers for that matter). I really would love to continue to see him in DWTS and for him to finish NYSS so will be sending some positive vibes and prayers.
Having had two stress fractures I think what might have done him in were the 24 blocks he ran retrieving his wallet and the mad dash thru the airport to catch his plane. That’s a kind of pounding that dance doesn’t normally involve, and every inch of his body is probably exhausted so there’s no slack to accommodate any additional activity. In any event, the body usually comes up with a way to get what it needs, even if it involves literally stopping you in your tracks. Hoping for the best …

Gossip cop confirmed that he was injured during the anniversary rehearsals ( according to his rep ) and they said that he might broke his leg, well that is just depressing and I hate that but I really hope he will take care of his health, him and nastia were one of my faverites and if they change her pro then i’m done.
Kirami, they did NOT confirm that he broke anything. Let’s be a bit more careful of the facts that we know please.
Not only that, but I doubt they would have just put a cast on his foot if his whole leg was broken. Logic, folks.
Suzy – I was wondering too, if that mad dash to the airport is what contributed the most to this injury. My exbf and I were running to catch a flight and he ended up breaking his hip! But with the adrenaline and stress, he didn’t even notice the pain until later that night.
I hope that he’s okay. Nothing like a crap injury to ruin the best-laid plans 🙁
That and I always question the credibility of gossipcop…probably just as reliable as any other tabloid site…so be-careful folks on what you believe from these sites…I hope he feels better.
He did go home after a few hours, so I’m hoping and praying it’s not THAT bad.
In my experience, ballroom dancers generally have feet that are in pretty bad shape, even if their technique is flawless. BF has a pretty bad bunion on one foot, from having to jam his boat feet (he’s a size 13) into ballroom shoes on a regular basis; in the other foot, a hairline fracture from doing his paso doble appels incorrectly for so many years. With the frequency and intensity with which Derek has been dancing lately, it likely would not take much for a hairline fracture to evolve into a full-blown fracture. It’s also possible for an overworked Achilles tendon to just give out. We won’t know for sure until Derek or his people make a statement.
I wrote he might as maybe, the confirmed part is the injury during rehearsals, any way I’m sorry, english is my third language so maybe I misinterpretate myself.
I do remember his Instagram post saying “not good news” but I won’t jump to any conclusions without further confirmation.

I imagine abc told them to take them down..for drama for the show..but, those pics have been up for hours…a little too late for that now.
I mean people will know by tomorrow Derek’s condition. He has a show at 2 pm tomorrow.
He’s also got the Anniversary Special taping tonight.

I find it interesting that now the original instagrams and tweets from both Mark AND Derek have been removed. The picture is still on Mark’s Facebook along with the original text from the IG pic but the link is broken and said it was removed. I follow Mark on IG and Twitter and though it was there earlier, it is now gone. I wonder what the big deal is about it being deleted so quickly. Just a thought.
probably because abc likes to have power over “storylines” and anything that can fit into that…which is still stupid bc it is the internet age and once something is put out there…its out there for good..no taking it back.
The only thing I can think of is maybe there are some liability issues involved and when that’s the case, the parties always want to control the narrative.
I had a “dancer’s fracture” a long time ago and a stress fracture near my knee a few years ago. Both very painful……
Concerned seein how both feet have some kind of cast/boot protection. I hope they are just being overly causious.

I am so sorry to read about Derek injured; but until there is a more concrete affirmation put out by ABC or DWTS, I will be praying for a miracle healing for Derek. I fractured a small bone in my right foot and had to wear one of those shoes Derek has on his right foot. I was working for a company where I drove 9 and 12 passengers vans, and had to heal quickly. With a prayer and my own home therapy of “ice” and exercise, I was up and driving in no time. Knowing Derek’s “icing” legend he will no doubt be doing a lot of that to speed up the healing.
I am sad to hear that Derek is hurt. He has been working so hard! Certainly I hope that he recovers quickly but I will say this. If Derek needs to take Monday off, I really want them to let Sasha perform with Nastia. Sasha is so talented and I have wanted him to be a pro ever since S17!!!! If Derek needs a stand in and they let Tony, Artem, or Keo do it, as eliminated pros I will be sad!!
I would hope the choice would be Nastia’s and Derek’s.
Yes please let Sasha be the stand in, if one is needed. Even if Derek is able to perform, it prob would not hurt(no pun intended) for him to rest for a week.

I really hope Derek gets better soon!! I know this seems trivial, but I can’t even describe how much I was looking forward to seeing him dance the paso with Chelsie Hightower. Ah, well. Still hoping (though he’s likely sitting out for the Anniversary Special, right?)!
He’s out for the anniversary special, and likely out for next week’s DWTS as well.
I thought I read somewhere that Sasha was going to be helping Nastia when she leaves NYC to practice in L.A. instead of Henry now. If this is correct, it would only make sense that Sasha would take Derek’s place next Monday, “IF” it came down to that option.
Ah, that makes me so sad!!! The special will not be the same without him. And yeah, that makes sense that Sasha would fill in if it comes down to it.
It is such a bitter irony that he can’t participate in the celebration for which he specifically came back this season. It is SUCH a loss for the anniversary show. I have a feeling there will be some video of him in there somehow, just not dancing. So sad.
And to top it off, he didn’t even get hurt dancing or performing. Freak accident.
Heidi, If sasha is to perform on monday with Nastia how do u think that will effect their chance in the double elimination u mentioned last night Nastia must be doing good on votes but will this change things?

People need to read the whole site. The Double Elimination has been moved, as has the anniversary special. How this will impact Nastia?? Well, I have a feeling Derek fans will vote harder than ever, even if he’s out for the season.
