What Did You Think Of The Dancing with the Stars 10th Anniversary Show? (Videos)
Did you watch the Dancing with the Stars 10th Anniversary Show? If so, what did you think? What were your favorite dances? Any thoughts?
I’m in the middle of watching it right now! I am LOVING IT!! It’s so good to see everyone. I loved Mark and Derek/Sasha’s dance with their former partners. I loved seeing Alfonso & Witney and Maks & Meryl! More in comments later.
Below are some performance videos from the show courtesy of @idolxfactor1….
Ahh! Alfonso/Wit & Meryl/Maks were perfect! Makes me miss favorite couples like this… Alfonso didn’t want to make it a dance-off, “because they love each other too much” (he wrote on IG) LOL
This special was one of the most fun things this show has done in a LONG time! It was so good to see so many of the previous contestants. I loved it!
My favorite performances were the “Bromance” Dance (Amber Riley — WOW!) and “Lady Marmalade” (again.. Amber Riley.. WOW).
I also liked the little packages of the drama, the injuries, the inspiring people we have had on the show… all of that was awesome.
I don’t think the show could have done a better job with it. I just wish it would have been longer.. still loved it ๐
Loved seeing Karina and Anna on the dance floor again!!! ๐ And that Jacoby leap!!
I should also add… it’s hard to believe it has been 10 years already! It is mindblowing, yet I am so glad the show has been around for so long and it is only getting better and better.
I only started watching religiously on Season 11 and I gotta say, this show has brought me so much happiness during all this time. Kinda silly to think a TV show could do that, but it has and I am so happy that one night, by mistake, I tuned into the show. Been hooked ever since.
Regardless of how many times I wanna throw a shoe at my TV because the show angers me, I will say DWTS is one of the best, most entertaining shows on television and I am beyond happy it has gone on for this long.
Here’s to many more years to come! ๐
Loved every minute of it and am slightly worried becuase maks in the audition video was basically me today except a different color and a t shirt lol. Alfonso is such a crowd pleaser but I was really loving Melissa and tony especially tonight.
I need me some more Donald Driver with Peta! My favorites!
I ended up just loving it. My only complaints were that it was missing Derek and it wasn’t long enough. They could have had many more old pros and celebs show up to dance. But, I loved it all. It was super.
My Dad just called and he loved it too.
Wow Meryl and Maks were AMAZING! I love the dance, have already watched it 3 times. Really like Alfonso and Witney too. The opening number was spectacular. Only complaint is that the special should have been 2 hours!
I didn’t like it at all. Way too much focus on two couples (and I say that as someone who loves Alfonso) and way too many people sitting in the audience who could have and should have been given another opportunity to dance or at least interact with their partners. I enjoyed the Mark/Derek partners dance and wish they would have done that for some of the other pros. I hope Val was telling the truth and this is the last time we see him and Maks dancing together on that stage. I wouldn’t necessarily be against Maks dancing again someday but I hope this is the last I ever have to see of him and Meryl Davis. I’ve grown to despise her.
Was good overall, Iยดd love more dances from other celebrities and pros… What I can let pass are the mistakes about information regarding past celebrities…
Here’s what I loved: without the elimination and judges’ comments/scores it was just a joyous affair. I know that these things are needed week to week otherwise there is not competition, but I loved that I could smile throughout the whole thing and enjoy everyone who was on there.
I echo Vogue in wishing it was longer. Another hour would’ve been awesome. Overall, I just came away from this with a big smile on my face.
Since the judges listed their favorite dance of all time on the show, I also want to throw out mine. There are many I like and would probably choose a different one on another day, but right now the one that came to mind is Gilles and Cheryl’s Argentine Tango.
I started watching it and I just could not muster the interest. Probably because the celebs that I wanted to see like Jennifer Grey, Nicole S and Charlie were not even in the audience. Donna, I agree with you about Meryl. I feel like she has become so addicted to attention that I can hardly stand her. Which is not good for me since I love watching Charlie skate in shows. The last SOI I attended in Anaheim, I just ignored her as much as possible but it was still a very good show. Her fawning over Maks is just embarrassing.
Just saw Meryl and Maks – my thought was of course they had to do some walking before the dance – don’t change what is broken Maks….
I wonder why some of the celebs were not there – totally wanted to see Jennifer Grey…
It was okay, some of my favorites were not their, I did enjoy Amber, Alfonso, Val and Kelly, it was surprisingly nice seeing Maksim on the dance floor.
#12 Ria I think it’s even worse now that she knows Maks is dating someone, she knows how those shippers are, yet she continues to publicly insert herself into Maks’s life both personally and professionally. I know Maks is still stirring the pot too but he’s not inserting himself into her life nor is he causing harassment and embarrassment to her boyfriend — it’s his own backyard he’s peeing in. That’s all I have to say about that. And to stay on track…….I did love Patti, Amber and Lil Kim.
I liked it, yet it was kind of underwhelming at times. For a show that has brought so many amazing routines, I felt like not many were showcased. Some might have been due to availability — Derek’s injury, Charlie getting married, Cheryl not being there etc. What has made each season finale work is the way in which they pay tribute to the memorable dances and moments of the season, and I just felt that was missing in some way. It was great to see Val and Kelly, both of whom were great (and man, that’s some low fat living), but we could have used more of those moments — like having a group do the Drew/Cheryl freestyle or the Andy/Sharna Alice in Wonderland. And there weren’t a lot of great new moments either — like it would have been fun to have the judges do a full dance, or Tom for that matter.
Bummed Derek had to sit out the Bromance dance but was stoked to see Chelsea Kane back on the floor with Mark (and Katherine and Kristi). Best routine of the bunch, IMO. Was nice to hear the judges remark on how the show changed from strictly ballroom to the production it is now, particularly after the Ballas/Hough additions—though I agree with Len this week, ENOUGH with the troupe dancer group routines already!
I never invested in most of the featured couples (Alfonso and Whitney, Meryl and Maks, Tony and Melissa in the ALL-STAR season, the majority of the footballers), so most of the hour didn’t hold much interest. Sorta wish there was a “best of” each kind of dance highlighting the 20 seasons or SOMETHING of the like.
What is up with the typos? They had the wrong season number on more than one of them and I’ve only had a chance to watch one video so far.
My favorite 3 seconds was seeing Amber (and Sasha) do a move from her Charleston.
I think the individual dances were a mistake. There should have been more group dances, using other celebs. That would have been more fun.
Really liked the holograms, the footballers’ paso. There may well have been sufficient mention of Derek, but I just missed him being there so much that it didn’t seem so to me.
I did not need to see the speedo flamenco again. It’s scary to think about how many people had to think it was a good idea to bring that back for it to happen.
Loved seeing Amy Purdy prancing around. That makes me happy.
Mark & Derek’s partners just killed it. Best of the night to me. I just love seeing Mark & Katherine dance together. Sasha was really great too. Patti, Amber & Lil’ Kim brought the house down. It just didn’t feel like a long enough show, thought they could’ve went at least 2 hours with more behind the scenes, and longer dances and interviews from the celebs. The length and typos were the only thing really disappointing. Great show overall.
Yeah, Meryl and Maks dance was highly over rated. And they are over done – enough already. Alfonso and Witney’s dance was actually better – and more difficult, from what I could see. And Val and Kelly?? Why?? Mark and Derek are two of the most successful pros on this show and those are the dances they chose?? I know Derek couldn’t dance it, but he should have had a solo over Val and Kelly. Ridiculous.
Interesting when they talk about how far the show has come, grown, progressed and how amazing it all is now that most of the dances shown were Derek’s followed closely by Mark. ๐
Frankly, I was extremely disappointed. One hour was not long enough to do justice to 10 years. It felt so rushed. Too many faves were excluded that should have danced or been acknowledged. How about a group dance with all the Olympians etc. etc.? Guess we know who producers favorites are… And I guess since Julianne is now considered a judge we won’t ever see her dance on the show again, that’s the impression I got. How a special of this magnitude didn’t include her doing a dance with Apolo who was there, is just crazy to me.
There is no way that every celeb could be featured, so considering they only had an hour, I think they did a good job. Timing, location, honeymoons (Charlie), and maybe some weren’t imterested, or came and just didn’t want to dance. Where was Cheryl?
Loved seeing the NFL paso, Alfonso, and Meryl and Maks. There wasn’t any way to make everyone happy, but It would have helped of were longer.
I LOVED the show! I loved meryl and mak’s tango, a lift at the end was amazing. Really happy to see them back, I was so excited, although meryl looked nervous or something to me. I also enjoyed witney and alfonso, never liked the song, but he’s a great dancer. Wish that sadie had an individual dance with mark. ๐ and really missed derek in the bromance dance, it was not the same, and was SO HAPPY to see amy purdy there. ๐ Kelly actually danced a lot better than I expected, although I felt the dance was a bit too fast at times, it was a lot better than I had remembered it to be. But really disliked the speedo and bikini, ew. Patti and everyone sang so good! Did anyone catch the moment at the end when Patti like closes her eyes and seems to be like soaking it all in? I felt so happy for her. I was also happy to see marlee maitlin. I did think it was too short. Was it hastily planned, is that why a lot of former celebrities didn’t go? Like jennifer grey, nicole scherzinger, even a lot of people from last season I didn’t see. But I don’t really know.
Also, one thing that bothered me is that I enjoyed this a lot more than I enjoyed any episode so far this season. ๐ I have found this season to be really underwhelming. ๐ but maybe it’s just me? I also loved the whole section of inspirational stories, my sister whose going through a rough time was with me and she started crying at that part. Overall though i really liked it. ๐
oh and hey! at 2:31, lindsay, I think it is (?) messes up right in front of the camera. lol didn’t catch that at first. in the opening dance number posted on here lol.
It was great to see Kelly again. As the season one winner, she deserved that solo. I also enjoyed seeing Alfonso and Meryl though the same dance moves to different music was throwing me off. I suppose that I have watched the original dances too many times if the new music was bothering me. My only complaint is that I wish the show had been longer so that more of the celebs and some of the other pros could have been featured.
Overall I enjoyed the show. Felt rushed. Too bad it wasn’t given 90 or even 120 minutes of airtime. While Kelly looks amazing, I wasn’t too excited to see the ‘surfer flamenco.” I can see the producers wanting to give Kelly some airtime, since she was the first to win the mirror ball. Just too bad her original partner wasn’t able to dance with her – and they had to settle for the other one.
Amber, Li’l Kim and Miss Patty – killed it!!
It was way to rushed big time and wasted time – pros who were spotlighted didn’t need the attention ahem val- tony etc…
Derek was hardly mentioned which is a big nono- he was hurt why didn’t the put together a package or something celebrating him gosh dammit he a z mark have kept this show alive to this day and they were hardly celebrated yet the non choreographers tony- val maks etc… where …. um ya nooooooooooooooooo waste of time – waste of money etc…
Alfonso is always around dwts so I just shrugged and rolled my eyes seeing this like I shrugged and rolled my eyes at maks always hanging around the set etc… they ain’t getting any jobs I’m guessing lol to funny
Was so good to see lil kim and amber together 2 of my fav derek partners
Speaking of lil kim her tweet mentioning derek got me curious minded – if ya’ll don’t no what I’m talkin about go check her twitter :-))
The broamncr number had derek all over it but without derek it was eh I loose sasha but that was the kinda dance for derek and mark only to dance but I love him for being derek body double so derek can rest those feet of his – realllly really really hate seeing derek hurt ; (((
Oh and when sharna was talking about dereks walking on air number its not “our” emmy sharna it’s DEREKS EMMY – not the shows- not the producers – not the other pros DEREKS EMMY AND DEREKS EMMY ONLY
Josi, could you tell me what the tweet said? I went to her twitter feed and was scrolling for a while, but she retweeted SO many messages after last nights show, I gave up after a while. lol
Hey Susan lil kim Said
“I saw @derekhough when I got there but then he got hurt.i hope you are feeling well derek. We are coming back soon.”
– it’s the “we are coming back soon” part that makes my mind wonder curiously????
I found the whole show a bit underwhelming. A lot of the routines were cut off at the beginning for me when the show came back after commercials- might just have been my channel though. I loved Wit and Alfonso. They made magic last season, imo. That speedo flamenco was cringeworthy though. All in all it seemed rushed and put together without due credit to those who put the show on the map.
Josi, I don’t think it was a “waste of time”. It was a great show. I just wish it had been longer and showed more of Derek somehow and more pros and couples dancing from the past….like Edyta, Julianne, Cheryl, etc etc. One of my followers at twitter said they hope for more in the coming Results shows or the finale. I really do hope they cover more as an hour isn’t enough to cover the content of the past 10 years.
Julianne Hough should have given up the Judge job for one night and danced with Apolo Ono. Does she think she is above that now? Show was way too short and rushed.
Oh Ria, I would have loved to have seen the celebs you mentioned.
Terasia, me too. I would have loved to have seen Peta and Donald dance together again. One of my fave couples on this show!
And can I just say…..I LOVED Meryl’s hair more than anything last night. It reminded me of when Nicole danced with Derek. Beautiful!
The waste of time comment was mostly ment for val – tony – maks lol they wasted time that could of been used on derek or whatever & they were also a waste of money that was spent on them that could of been used for others more important
I was left empty still but there were highlights I liked like:
.
I loved seeing lil kim back – she was my highlight and riker at the end in the flashmob dance he was having so much fun dancin with the other alums
Isabelle, I wouldn’t blame Julianne and call her “above” anything. The producers could have decided who should dance and who shouldn’t?
I think I want to watch it again, I did enjoy it! Like others, I wanted MORE!
Now that the season is mostly over, I just thought that it could have been nice to have past celebrity contestants in the audience every week, and instead of dance bumpers (since troupe is in almost every dance anyway, they are getting paid) have Tom do a quick talk with one or two after each ad break.
Clearly, Amy was there and wanted to dance. Kristi was there and wanted to dance. Apolo was there. There were a ton of other people there who would have been better, more interesting choices than Kelly and Val. Kristi and Mark would have been great. Hell, I agreed that Mel and Maks’ Paso was one of the more memorable routines on the show – *I* remember it and that’s saying something. That would have been better than yet another underwhelming dance by Meryl.
I don’t think Sharna meant anything by the “our Emmy” comment. Hell, she probably got it from Derek himself. And while it has Derek’s name on it, and it is his, it also has the show’s name on it. By using the word “our” Sharna was just recognizing that FINALLY a DWTS pro got one of those suckers.
I wish it had been a 2 hour show other then that it was great.
It was fabulous! I only wish it had been longer and that Apolo and Julianne danced. They were the couple that made me fall in love with the show. I loved Julianne as a pro. Such a shame Derek was injured ๐ I’m happy that Sasha was the one to fill in for him though because he’s so sweet and humble (and I really don’t like Henry).
OMG, Witney and Alfonso’s dance was awesome!! They are just so amazing together! I love how they have such great chemistry without it being sexual or forced. Witney’s choreography is always on point and so fun to watch. For me, they are the best couple EVER on dwts!
I can not stand Meryl and Maks. I thought I was the only one, but I see from other people’s comments that I’m not alone in my dislike for them. Meryl is SO overrated in my opinion. I thought Charlie was way better than her. I also never liked Maks and his boring choreography that he recycles over and over. I could have done without seeing them on the show. Just my opinion though! Lol
Of course I loved the whole thing! I wish they would do more stand alone specials like this. I have so many ideas for those specials. Of course it was too short. If they would have been allotted more time, they wouldn’t have had to pack so much in the hour. But, they did a marvelous job packing it in. I am sure Charlie wasn’t there because he had a more important thing to do, getting ready to marry Tanith. I will be writing something for this site on the show. I hope to do that today or tomorrow with many more of my thoughts. I have already re-watched it twice.
josi, I wouldn’t read too far into Kim’s comment. I took it to mean she [Kim] and whoever she was with were going to come back and watch the show soon. Not sure what there is to be so curious about…
Amber Riley continues to show why she’s a super star. She killed it last night, in both the bromance dance and the Lady Marmalade number. The only thing that I would have liked to see was Mya in the Lady Marmalade number as well. It was already great with just Kim, Patti and Amber. But I think it would have been even greater if Mya was in it as well.
No, one hour didn’t do 10 years justice, but I felt they still did well enough. My only real complaint was that the tech/editors missed some notes. It said “Season 12” when Katherine started dancing and “Season 15” when Maria was dancing. Oh, and did they forget that Lil Kim was 5th place in season eight and not the season 9 second place runner up???
Other than that, I was really enjoying myself as I watched it. ๐
Also, short ladies, please start signing up for the show so we can get Sasha as a full time pro again.
I didn’t get to see the show on TV but the DWTS Youtube had some clips up so I watched that. Since I don’t have cable, I have to wait until next week to watch the full thing online…if they’ll even have it posted up. If any of you know of a way for me to watch the full anniversary show, please let me know!
Anyway, I did like the opening number. It was nice to see some of the old pros back…except for Louis Van Amstel. I was never really too fond of him. A part of me did wish that Julianne joined in with the pros, but I’m not sure I’m ever going to see her come back to her roots and dance on the DWTS floor. I was also kind of hoping that the judges would give us a little peek at their dancing skills.
I heard it was only an hour and I saw all the performances, and like many of us here, I wish it was longer AND that more celebs had a chance to dance! I saw Sabrina in the crowd and wondered why she wasn’t included in the Mark/Derek dance.
It was also a bummer that some other celebs couldn’t be there, like Charlie, Nicole S., Shawn, Kyle, Jennifer, Snooki and many others that I wanted to see but can’t think of at the top of my head. Would’ve loved to see Kyle and Nicole S. take the floor again.
I thought the group dances were cute. The NFL dance was cheesy but they made it work, lol.
Overall, I just wished it was longer!!! Even if the other celebs had to dance with a different pro than the one they were originally partnered with, I would’ve been okay with it for individual dances. After all, it is about them and not so much the pros. For that reason, it was underwhelming for me, but still fun.
Crossing my fingers for another all-star season soon!
Oh, and I LOVE Alfonso. Witney is my girl and they are one of my fave DWTS couples. They killed it last night!
Li’l Kim looIs like Zsa Zsa Gabor.
Agree with what pretty much everyone else has said, I wish it would have been longer! I loved the little packages and Maks’ audition tape gave me a good laugh. My favorite performance of the night was probably Alfonso and Witney. They are my favorite couple ever, and I absolutely adore Witney. In the closing number, I noticed Carrie Ann was wayyy off. Also, I wish that Cheryl would’ve come back…oh well. Overall, a great night and I really enjoyed it ๐
For the most part, I enjoyed it and did find myself wishing it was a bit longer. Not having Derek there was a huge hole and I think, for me, that shifted the way I viewed the evening as a whole. The parts I enjoyed the most were the packages, the “bromance” number and Alfonso and Witney. After so much hype about Maks and Meryl coming back, their performance was so underwhelming. If that was meant to be a dance off, it was a pretty lopsided one as I thought Witney and Alfonso were fantastic.
I can only think of one thing to say about Val and Kelly’s number – it’s going to take me another ten years to erase that image from my mind. I can appreciate someone who is in shape but all I could think about was how much I wanted Val to put his pants back on.
Suzy, she kind of reminded me of Joan Rivers and Donatella Versace.
I felt like the show missed the mark in many ways. When Val came out in a speedo, I changed the channel. When Maks and Meryl came out, once again I changed the channel. Perhaps it was because Derek wasn’t there that I feel this way. There were some good moments but not enough for me.
I liked it. Amber is a queen. Derek was missed.
I just wish we could have seen more celebrities. For example Sabrina Byan, Corbin and Roshon were in the audience. They could have put them in an amazing hiphop/jazz/ballroom number instead of individual dances. I mean the dances were great and I get that Meryl and Alfonso are popular but for one night (one hour!) they really could have put them in groups too. And the setlist was super random, who asked for a Kelly and Val flamenco repeat?
#25 its Anna who messes up. Didn’t notice until I read it. lol
I was enthusiastically awaiting seeing this show, but was disappointed overall with the exception of the amazing and wonderful “Lady Marmalade” and pro footballers number. When Val & Kelly divested themselves of their clothes and stood there in a bikini and speedo, and then Val covered his crotch with hands, I was creeped out & appalled. I can’t believe TPTB thought this would be appealing to anyone. It was awful. The absence of Derek was a huge hole but I am glad Mark was shown stating how the addition of the Houghs/Ballas kids added a new energy to the show. I would have liked to see Julianne and Apolo dance again. I don’t know, I was expecting a better retrospective of the past 10 years and this one just fell flat for me, for the most part.
I loved it! Way too short – could have easily been a 2 hour show. I *loved* that Apolo was there, but I’m actually kinda happy he didn’t dance – he hasn’t danced in a while, and would be rusty… I’d rather remember him in all his glory ๐
I agree with you DW#55. I enjoyed the overall show but I also wondered why TPTB think Val and Kelly flamenco was worth showing. Yes, she was a winner but Val wasn’t even her partner that time. The end of the dance belongs in a Chippendale type of club somewhere in NYC, so classless and inappropriate for a family TV show, not after a theme such as Disney.
@Tei, oh my bad! I know, it’s actually surprisingly not that obvious to notice even though it happens right in front of the camera, maybe because there are so many other pairs around them. But they recovered pretty well, mistakes happen. ๐
I really enjoyed the show, but I wish it had been longer and included more celebrities. Peta should have danced in the football number with Donald. My favorite performances of the evening were Alfonso/Witney and Meryl/Maks.
The Argentine Tango is what I love for this kind of dance. Perhaps next season I love to see Carmen Electra join DWTS.
I will echo the sentiment of many here – the show was way too short. I guess the geniuses who run this show don’t think that 2 hours was necessary? Heck – I’d take an hour and a half…
I’m in the minority…I loved seeing Maks and Meryl again! I just wish Charlie could be there too ๐ I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the footballers, my boy Alfonso, and Kristi!! Oh heck – I loved seeing everyone!
As much as I like Val – yikes! my eyes are hurting! What an eye-full! Why did TPTB think it was necessary to show this particular dance? Surely another dance could’ve been picked!!
The thing is, we know that Val doesn’t have a problem objecting to something he’s being asked to do. He must also have thought reprising that ridiculous dance was a good idea, forgetting for the moment that he’s the one who thought of it in the first place!!! He made the same show of being embarrassed the first time around. I suppose if that had been sincere there wouldn’t have been a second time around.
I also wished we could have seen more former dancers come back and more of them comment on the show or their pros in some way. Derek was certainly missed. Footballers and Bromance were good ideas. I think Olympians would have been another good theme group dance.
Alfonso & Witney wiped the floor with Maks & Meryl. It really wasn’t a good dance by M&M. I thought Kelly danced well actually but it was a ridiculous number to revive. If they wanted to feature the 1st winner, they should have done their Paso which was a good dance and not so ridiculous. Melissa was really rusty, not good at all. It never would have happened since he finished too low, but I would have loved to have seen Charlie & Sharna’s freestyle they didn’t get to do.
I also was bothered by the typos and wrong information given. It’s their own show, they should have checked this stuff. Katherine Jenkins season wrong on the screen and Lil’ Kim misannounced as well (they seemed to get her confused with Mya) were the notable ones.
Ditto on the length of the show. Not too many shows reach the 10 year mark. So, at the very least, a two hour extravaganza would be appropriate. I had hoped we would see all the pros who have danced on the show and all of the MB winners there. Also, where was Cheryl? Lacey? Did I miss them? I also noticed that Kym, who has won 2 MB’s in the U.S, only appeared in the opening number.
Over all I was underwhelmed. It felt very rushed to me due to the time constraints. I recorded it and will watch it again. However, I still think my opinion will remain the same…UNDERWHELMED.
And, just for the record, they could have left out the Kelly and Val dance. There have been so many fabulous dances over the years and the chose this one to feature?? UGH!
@EPmusic I totally agree with you about Melissa. She seemed REALLY rusty, which I was bummed about, I had liked her on her season. Hopefully she’s only hosting the dwts tour and not dancing in it, lol.
I agree w/ many here that the show felt a little too short. If the show was longer, I wished they would have done a short introduction video package before some of the dances so that we could have Derek & Mark talk about their bromance, have the NFL guys talk about their DWTS experiences, have Alfonso/Witney & Meryl/Maks have a little smack-down before their so-called battle, etc. I also wished (like they did for the NFL group number) they did an Olympian group number or maybe even a fierce diva group number w/ Nicole S, Amber, Lil’ Kim, Mya, Mel B.
I didn’t even see the point of the Kelly/Val number. Was it because she was the first winner ever that they decided to bring her back to do a solo routine? Either way, they had way better dances than that flamenco one
Maks and Meryl made me roll my eyes. She’s a great dancer but their partnership is overrated but I actually do enjoy Witney and Alfonso, just because he toured with DWTS over the winter and their partnership seems to be fun and genuine.
LOVED the Mark/Derek partners dance & the footballers! Mark and Derek have had some beautiful partners and the footballers were fun! (I miss seeing Karina and Anna)
Patti, Amber & Lil Kim’s number was one of my favorites! I think I watched that performance back at least 4x last night.
—
Overall it felt a little short. I liked the playback clips but I wish they would have incorporated more of the original pro dances or just show more than just Maks’ audition tape. The approach to the show was good but I felt like it could have been longer.
I forgot to mention, I don’t think Sharna meant anything bad about saying “our emmy” last night. I felt like she was saying Derek winning the Emmy for a piece he choreographed on the show was a huge deal, not only to Derek but to the show as well because DWTS gave Derek this amazing opportunity and this major platform to create these amazing pieces that he has done over the years.
Oh, and I want to add that I loved that they showed a clip of Mel B & Maks’ Paso. I’m not a Maks fan, but that dance is one of my favorites from the show.
I also found it a little random that Julianne picked Donald & Peta’s AT has her favorite dance. I was never a fan of them so I guess I’m just being biased. I thought she would have picked one of Derek’s dances since they’re family, but I guess she has to really go out of her way to not show favoritism.
As far as the discussion on Julianne not dancing anymore because she’s a judge, she danced last season in a pro number (which I loved). So maybe now that the results shows are back & she’s prepping for the Move Live Tour, hopefully she can do another pro dance? I really hope so because I love her dancing.
@Carla #48. I have the entire episode on my drop box.
I enjoyed the show over all. I have watched since the first night it started. My all time favorite TV reality show. It was fun to see so many faces from past seasons. The routines were good. But honestly, missed Derek, Cheryl and I would have like to see Edyta. I really liked Samatha as host wish they would have let her talk.
One of my favorite couples and routines was Derek and Shawn Johnson, I could not wait to see what they would do next and also Nicole S.
Hopefully, they will bring more back on Result night. They sure keep changing things around, seem like someone cannot get their act together. I hope we see Kelly Pickler, Charlie White, and Julianne dance with Apollo.
It would have been nice to have a 2 hour show and more couples dancing, too much of the same.
I felt like kicking my behind, because I got busy and distracted and it was 8:20 when I turned my TV station to ABC. So I missed the first 20 minutes. What I did see really enjoyed, but I agree with others that it was too short of a celebration.
I also was hoping for more of my favorite celebs and I felt like there was a hole in the show with Derek’s name pinned to it. He has been such a big part of the past 15 seasons with his creative choreography and dancing.
@71 – Julie W.
I understood why Cheryl couldn’t be on (network conflicts) but I agree, I did miss Derek, Cheryl and like you said, I wish they had Edyta on the show because she was a huge part of the show until she left.
someone on twitter said Jonathan Roberts was there? did I miss him? or was he just in the audience (ps. I always loved him, he seems like a very cool guy and I loved him and Anna together, especially that tribute dance to their friend)
Yeah, Jane, and Val almost killed her (twice). If that won’t put you off dancing with anyone other than your bro or your bf, I don’t know what will. ๐
Jonathan Roberts was in the finale dance number. I spotted him. But he didn’t perform.
JONATHAN WAS THERE JONATHAN WAS THERE!!!!!!!
Okay, got that out of my system. I was so happy to see him, even if it was just his face during the last big group dance. I sooooo wish I could have seen him do a V. Waltz or something, but I’ll take what I can get.
I am VERY far from a Val fan, but I actually laughed a lot during his dance with Kelly. I don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but regardless it didn’t ick me out as much as it normally would have.
I don’t think much more needs to be said about the length – it could have easily been twice as long and really given the show and the stars its due.
But Jonathan was there, so for a moment, I’ll just sit back and be a little happier for it.
@ PH, maybe next time Val doesn’t have to be in the number. I wouldn’t complain… ๐
@73 Jessica. I saw Jonathan but only in the group “dance” at the end. It was nice to see him there.
