Sharna Burgess Writes On Last Night’s Dances On Dancing With The Stars And More

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Closer Weekly. She writes of the challenges of putting together her and Noah’s routines for Dancing With The Stars Week 7. She also talks on her “saddest moment” last night which is the same as many of ours.

Once Noah put on his costume he fell perfectly into character with such confidence and swag. He truly held his own while having the troupe dancing around him. He wants to continue in the compeition so badly — I couldn’t ask for a better partner. One of my favorite moments from past week was when I came to rehearsal to find out that Noah had arrived early to practice his steps by himself. He makes me so proud!

My saddest moment this week was seeing Mark Ballas and Willow Shields go home. I was shocked, as she has been so strong this season — especially since she’s only 14-years-old! Mark’s dances have been so creative and I am so proud of what he has achieved.

Next week’s dance theme is ‘America’s Choice’ — and we will be dancing the Tango to ‘Geronimo’ by Sheppard. I’m so happy we get to dance another traditional ballroom dance! Send us your thoughts and ideas for the dance concept via Twitter and Instagram. There are also trio dances next week and we have Emma Slater as our partner!

This is such a cute interview with Sasha Farber. So humble as ever. (try and ignore Billy and Kit though 😐 )

More Information On Tonight’s Dancing with the Stars 10th Anniversary Show

USA Today has a cool report posted on the Dancing with the Stars 10th Anniversary Show. Here is some more information for what to expect tonight…

The special, taped last week and airing Tuesday (8 p.m. ET/PT), includes a group dance with seven NFL stars and a gold football, to the rearranged tune of Monday Night Football’s opening theme; first-season winner Kelly Monaco and pro Val Chmerkovskiy re-creating an earlier dance, stripping to a bikini and Speedos, as they splash on a water-soaked platform; and Patti LaBelle singing Lady Marmalade, backed by fellow Dancing alums Amber Riley and Lil’ Kim.

The taping closed with a group finale that featured more than 50 stars, pros and judges from the series’ 20 seasons crowding the dance floor.

“It was wonderful to look across from the judges (table) and see all the alumni from previous seasons. I forgot that so many people had been on our show,” says judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who has been present for every Dancing show. “It was fun to see Marlee Matlin out there again, what a wonderful woman. Having Amy Purdy back in the ballroom, she’s one of my all-time favorites. Apollo Anton Ohno sitting next to me.”

Celebrities say they also enjoyed the reunion for a one-time huge hit that still draws a solid audience.

“Next time they shouldn’t wait so long. We love each other. When you do that show, you become a family,” says singer Gladys Knight, who took a leap of faith to compete in Season 14. “It was totally out of my comfort zone. The Pips were the dancers. But it was an awesome experience.”

Longtime pro Karina Smirnoff, who performed in the football dance, says she choreographed it in a way to honor Dancing’s long run.

“I wanted to pay homage to moments that were memorable within their seasons, so that’s why I had Jacoby (Jones) jump over my head and had the move with Donald (Driver) where I held my ankles and he twirled me around, says Smirnoff, who is not competing this season. “It allows people to not only enjoy their dancing on the (anniversary special) but it reminds them of what these guys did on the show during their seasons.”

More at USA Today including photos!! GMA and Nightline also did reports on the show. You can watch some fun footage and interviews in the new Media Post.

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 7 – Power Rankings

Before I start in on everything else, I have to get this off my chest: poor Willow 🙁 Say what you will about “this is what happens when you put a 14-year-old on an adult show!” or “she should have prepared herself!”, but I think back to what a naive, insecure girl I was at 14, and I just cannot help but feel for her – she had done so well and seemed so excited to be there, only to be told “Sorry, not enough people like you enough to vote for you.  Bye-bye!” We knew a shocking elim was probably going to come at some point, what with the overlapping fanbases of some of the couples this season…I guess I had just hoped that it wouldn’t be HER. So please, if you have an ounce of compassion in you – please go tweet (or Instagram) some encouraging words to Willow – it’s tough enough to be a teenage girl in this world, let alone one who just got the rug pulled out from under her on national television.

As for the rest of the night – maybe I just got spoiled in previous seasons, with fun decade-themed dances like Nicole’s 50’s paso and Erin’s 80’s rumba (I still giggle at Maks in the Don Johnson costume!), but tonight felt like an “Eras Night” only in name: so many of the songs (and sets, and costumes) didn’t really seem to reflect the era they were meant to, so I guess I kinda said “Why even bother?” to some of it.  Oh well – probably yet another hastily-thrown-together theme to cover their asses when plans changed.  As for the judges – they’re still doing some fishy sh*t.  They’re just taking turns on who gets to play good cop, bad cop each week. Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

What’s the damn theme for this week?? America’s choice?? :::sigh:::

Vogue: According to our new Media post, the couples have a TRIO dance for next week too.

ETA: Vogue here again. I just did a run through of twitter accounts and instagrams. Below is some more dance info in red.

ETA2: Court hopping in 🙂 Filling in some of the blanks on the trio dances – we’re about 90% sure on Rumer’s trio pro, but we do know for sure that she was the only one who picked a pro/troupe member of the same sex. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 20 Week 7 Media And Interviews After Dance Night – Videos, Photos

What a show last night. They all danced so good, but, I’m still upset about Mark and Willow getting eliminated. 🙁 They were my second favorite couple. Mark’s choreography has been stellar this year. I’m going to remember Willow for her laughter and innocence. She worked so hard (harder than many teens would). She never complained (like other celebs have this season). She proved that teenagers can do this show with the best of them and at a young age too. And so what if she broke down after she was eliminated. Some of the media and tweets I’m reading this morning with her being too young to do show is sad. I would have broke down too. Willow, don’t change who you are in the least. Thank you for dancing and refreshing this show with your beautiful and youthful spirit like you did! A lesson for us all!

So, how about if we start off with the scores?

Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough – 38
Riker Lynch & Allison Holker – 37
Willow Shields & Mark Ballas – 37 (Eliminated)
Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess – 36
Rumer Willis & Valentin Chmerkovskiy – 35
Chris Soules & Witney Carson – 31
Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson – 31

And for media starters today, go to ABC 7 to see a recap and some beautiful photos. The Daily Mail and Entertainment Tonight also have some fun photos.

Next, you can watch some new interviews at E Online (I’d embed them, but, they play and won’t stop. Glamour has some coverage as well. You can also watch some new interviews below with Access Hollywood, Afterbuzz TV, etc. Keep checking back for more to be added. Don’t miss more with Nastia and Sasha at Pure Derek Hough.

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week SEVEN – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Era Week. Can’t we have ONE week without a theme?? Just one? This is out of control. Also expect to see the troupe in lots of the dances and I’m kinda over that as well. I think Nastia and Noah are the only ones who haven’t used troupe members at this point, and it looks like Sharna is going all out with the troupe this week.

Opening number was good except for some sync problems. A bit sloppy in spots.

Great dance from Riker but not a perfect one. A couple screw ups in the middle and that one move would be a lift if anyone else did it.

Am I crazy, or has Chris actually improved in both attitude and dancing? I hate to say this but he’s been better than Robert the last two weeks.

Julianne making promises that it’s not his last dance is outta line though. Anyway, I dug the dance.

LOL…what to do in a week where Derek’s injury takes over the media??? Call Bruce Willis! 😀 Yeah, we’re going to show lots of Derek getting hurt, but we’ll give Rumer two packages. It’ll be okay. This is how we have our cake and eat it too!!

Okay. Sarcasm over. For now.

Ow. Heard that crack. That didn’t feel good.

Rumer looks AMAZING in that outfit. It’s still black, but she looks good and she’s chipper for a change. Not much bounce to that jive and they were out of sync a couple times. Yeah, finally a different character, Bruno.

Anyway, not a perfect dance but one of my favorites from her.

Oh STFU Carrie Ann. Maybe it was a bit safe, but she needs to mix it up!!

On another note – you dancers are really going to have to impress the hell out of me, since you aren’t saving ANYTHING for the freestyle.

Hi Amy!! Love ya.

Holy shit, Sharna!! Now that was some kick ass choreo that really made the most of what Noah can do!! OMG, I’m SO Impressed!!!

Len picks NOW to complain about using extra dancers?? NOW??? What about the last dance, dude.

Kym and Robert’s song sucks and it was a bit scary watching some of the lifts.

:::sigh::: :::sniff::: Poor Derek. But damn, that was a fun, wonderful dance.

And of course CRAZY CAI has to make some shit up about “feeling it”. Yeah. Just now. 🙂

Even money says Willow gets immunity. Perhaps she needs it? But those costumes? Man, If Len doesn’t have a fit I might fly to LA and slap him for his shit he said after Noah’s dance.

Um, not sure this concept makes sense?? Like Tom said, rooted in ancient times. Yeah, Mark, I get you want to do ninjas…but does it make sense? Super cute package though. 🙂

Okay, Imma cry foul if that gets high score of the night. It was so…simple, yet nonsensical within the theme of the dance. There wasn’t much to it.

And she gets raves from Bruno. And they were out of sync more than once!!

Bruno, you’re on crack. It was good, but I don’t think it was even the second best dance of the night. I’d give the second best dance to Noah, actually.

Okay…dance off for two extra points. High scoring couple picks who to dance off with, that couple picks the dance. Val of course makes a big deal about picking the high scorer.

Riker picks Mark and Willow. Wow. Odd. Apparently they don’t buy Val’s line of bull. They’re dancing Salsa. Did anyone hear if they add these points to tonight??

Perhaps Allison and Mark are making backroom deals? They figure they each have a better shot against someone who isn’t judges apparent pet?

Interesting strategy to twirl Willow for that long period, Marky. 🙂

Len seemed to hate both. Wow….Willow won that?? Hmmmmm……not sure I agree with that one. Twitter doesn’t either, but that’s Riker’s teeny boppers spamming.

And Noah picks Robert? Oy. Noah doesn’t do much but what he does he does reasonably well. Robert misses some choreo and they get off time. I suspect they pick Noah.

Shot of Len shows him looking like he’s going to have a stroke or something. And then CAI calls it accurately for a change. Noah ends up winning by a Len.

OKAY!! Erin said “two points added to their total tonight”….oh wait. Still doesn’t clear it up. Tonight’s scores or tonight’s elimination???

Twice in one night Rumer looks beautiful – in RED. Finally. She killed that dance, no surprise. That might be her best dance in a few weeks, actually. No surprise Rumer and Val win.

Noah and Sharna – Safe

Robert and Kym – Safe

Chris and Whitney – Safe

And the shocker is??? Riker and Allison SAFE. HOLY CRAP.

Willow and Mark are eliminated. Totally bummed. Poor kid. And Tom Bergeron you are the absolute best.

I said it was a real possibility, but man, didn’t want to see it happen.

BTW – someone needs to clarify what the hell with the scores tonight. They tried to explain it and totally screwed the pooch. If anyone understood that, please enlighten me because that was crap. Two points to next week or this week? Nastia got three points, that I understood. And the rest was clear as mud.
