"Dance is the hidden language of the soul" ~ Martha Graham. That's what DWTS makes me think of every Monday night. To read more about me and my other interests, see Lisa Kay Photography. You can also follow me at Voguerista Twitter & Voguerista Soundcloud.
Interesting that they think that Nastia Derek Sasha did Charleston coz if they had done any of Nastia’s previous numbers only with Derek say like a Paso then ppl would be in uproar again meaning she was that good. Darvina, has grown on me I like her better compared to how I tot of her in the beginning. Suri, Naaaah still cold I cant connect to her 🙂
I thought Kristyn Burtt was right on, she always interesting comments. She tell it like it is.
I enjoy the show when they have guest dancers, they add so much to the conversation.
Good show, and I totally agreed with Kristyn, no surprises, not a very exciting finale.
We all knew what the outcome was going to be, and most are really happy for Rumer and happy that Val can now move on, and sleep with that Mirror Ball.
I just hope we do not have to go through another season of the push for one couple, first Maks and now Val. Time for a woman to win this competition…go Sharna!
Witney won last season, so it hasn’t been that long since a woman won…..I
Even though Suri annoys me sometimes on the show, I liked how she pointed out Tony’s obnoxious behavior when they were about to announce Rumer and Val as the winners – like how he stood there in the corner with a bunch of pros/troupe behind him and had all his energy and attention on Val, getting ready to congratulate his bro, getting ready to hoist him on his shoulders… dude, calm down.
By the way, I thought Suri was friends with Tony. I guess not anymore? It seems she’s become pretty good friends with Mark nowadays.
Ironically I thought the show was better for the lack of a bias guest. They could be candid and cutting about the show without upsetting any guest from DWTS who was scared of getting into any trouble. I don’t think we’ll be seeing many more guests from DWTS on afterbuzz in the future with episodes like this, Rob Wade will probably ban them from doing it (if he hasn’t already). I think it’s a good thing though we got to really see what they thought of the show with no holding back. Sure they have their favourites but they mean well and it’s a good show. Fair play to Kristyn for challenging Rob Wade at that Paley Center thing. She probably knew it might affect her as regards to her access to DWTS employers and inside news but she still did the right thing and tried to take him on. Watching Rob squirm was lovely, shame his lapdogs were sat next to him nodding furiously at everything he said. #RANT
I always found the episodes with no guests better. Even when it was Suri and Kristyn back in season 15 and with Jake. Less is much better bc Kristyn seems more honest and less worried about appeasing guests.
I enjoy seeing guests on the show, but I would prefer not every week, so I did enjoy this week, it reminded me of the older days of Afterbuzz. If they kept the guests to other dance community people, ones not employed by the show, like Shirley Ballas etc, I think then we would be able to get more honest and blunt opinions and more juicy scoop, since they wouldn’t worry about backlash from the shoe employees/wouldn’t worry about needing to be extra nice to the pros and troupe so they will come to talk on Afterbuzz.
Interesting the behavior of Tony etc was mentioned….glad it was…..but they didn’t go further….again probably to not discourage Tony and troupe members etc from ever guesting on Afterbuzz.
Even though the panel enjoyed Rumer & Val more than I did, I did notice they definitely agree with the fact that the agenda seems to be about those pros who never have won a mirrorball winning one lately. I agreed a lot with Kristyn in the episode and the finale being lackluster and predictable, though I liked Riker’s freestyle more than she did. Surprised at the mention of producers possibly forcing Nastia & Derek to not do certain dances as their redo that would have made the other finalists look bad??? Did I hear that right? That’s terrible. And I thought her Charleston was a great dance anyway and not unimpressive at all. Also interesting that they really do suspect Nastia’s pleasant and open side was purposefully not shown to push the Val agenda and help discourage casual fans from not voting for her. Again, this is why I like no guests on the show, we get a lot of honest and blunt opinions.
As much as it could hurt the pros, who most of them I love, it would be interesting years down the road after the show ends if someone on the inside of the show would come forward and admit in specifics how manipulative the show was….
This was actually IMO the most honest of all the shows I’ve watched. Kudos to Suri for mentioning that Tony had the FAM posse ready to go confirming the result was known beforehand. Also loved the focus on Nastia and her package being played 3 times and questioning the timing of the use of clips. Especially liked Kristyn’s comments about how open Nastia was during her Lifescript interview. I applaud Kristyn for questioning Rob at the Paley Center even if he danced on the head of a pin. I actually enjoyed the show without biased guests but admit that some guests like Shirley & Corky are good for inside info. Also guests like Sharna and Emma have been good on giving interesting insider info (Sharna about Peta re teaching Tommy C every day same steps) but I can live without the overly biased Serge and other bitter FAM members. It’s as if they are FAM brainwashed and such downers. Without them I like the “freedom” to speak from Kristyn and Suri. Darvina is not my fave. She’s definitely Mark’s buddy and I sense some distance with Derek even though they went to school together. She’s certainly no friend to him by prior comments.
it kind of takes the fun out of watching when the pimping of one couple becomes so obvious. I mean, “Dial carefully” when you call for Rumer. why just Rumer? Was she just not getting the votes they hoped she would? Hmmmm
When I was watching AA Emma was saying that the JUDGES chose the repeat dance. AB said Sharna should have chosen another dance for Noah, when really she didn’t have a choice. Riker and Allison wanted to do their Salsa, and they had to do the Paso, which they received high score for initially.
You’d figure that a show that talks about DWTS every week would know that info.
Darvina said that Noah had surgery yesterday. Anyone have any info?
Can I ask what Kristyn asked Rob at Paley?
I am also Really happy at the lack of biased guests – felt frustrated that Val was present at lastweeks AB.
Seeing as Nastia was eliminated – largely due to manipulation of packages, making her look unreasonable, difficult to work with etc. and making Rumer look approachable and vunerable.. or rather VAL looking vunerable *cue crocodile tears “I’m ruining this experience for you (ME ME ME ME ME)”
They couldn’t really call that out in the presence of the Chosen one himself, could they?
Now that I think about it, a Lot of the guests they had on this season were part of la familia including Anna (Serge etc)
and I always felt AB to be more Derek orientated and rightly so (especially Suri)
Perhaps the presence of so many C-bro worshippers swayed the panel a bit?
#Eabha Kristyn asked Rob Wade why he showed the negative video of Nastia 3 times. Whether he thought that decision led to viewers not voting for her.
Afterbuzz is better with guests IMO – even the finale recap. Kristyn is a decent host and I was glad to see her show some backbone, but Suri annoys me for some reason and Darvina doesn’t really add much.
Miss the male dancer who used to be on.
Lol just about any dance of Nastia’s would have made the other finalists look bad.
