PureDWTS: The Pros, The Judges, & Their (Sometimes Embarrassing) Music Video Pasts!

Because it’s summer and there’s not much else DWTS-related to talk about – why not get a blast from the past and take a look at what some of our pros and judges do when they’re not performing on the show? And in this case, the activity in question is appearing in music videos – with varying results.Β  Some of them are pretty cool, others are blink-and-you-miss-it cameos, and some…should probably stay buried forever πŸ™‚ Let’s check it out…

First up, we’ll have a look at the pros who have forayed into music themselves and released videos.Β  Probably the pro best known as both a dancer AND a musician, we have Mark and his 2014 song “Get My Name” – video directed by Derek, with a cameo from a very sexy Witney:

And then there’s Val…and his failed rap career.Β  Here’s something he calls “White Boy Boogie”, with former troupeΒ  member Dasha Chesnokova gyrating around, and a couple appearances by Sleep the bulldog.Β  There’s probably other familiar faces in the video – I just can’t be bothered to watch more than the first few seconds. πŸ™‚

Then there’s the pros that have appeared in other musicians’ music videos – and I think Derek might hold the record for it.Β  He’s appeared in one of Kellie Pickler’s videos, as well as one of Lil Kim’s videos; but he might best be known for his appearance in a video that launched a thousand ships (and not the kind that sail on the ocean) – Cheryl Cole’s “Parachute”:

Derek ain’t the only one who was asked to appear in a former partner’s video – as many of you may have seen, Allison appeared in R5’s latest video…and so did Alfonso, aka “The Forrest Gump of DWTS, because I’m EVERYWHERE!”:

Now we move onto more random appearances – Karina played the main love interest in Eric Benet’s “Harriet Jones” video a few years back…and it was kinda hot:

And somehow, Brittany managed to land the plum gig of being Ed Sheeran’s dance partner in the “Thinking Out Loud” video, and it was kind of adorable:

I’ve never heard of Nikki Lorenzo, but she makes the list because she made the wise choice of having Tristan in her video (FYI – he’s towards the end, if you just wanna fast foward to the 2:44 mark):

Then there’s this totally random find – some country artist named Stacy Burk decided to cast Maks as a wannabe-cowboy in this “Til Your Boots Are Dirty” video, and the end result is kind of hilarious:

And Cheryl suited up as the video vixen in The Game’s “Camera Phone” awhile back (she comes in around the 1:16 mark):

And now we move onto the judges.Β  I sometimes forget that Julianne had a country music career, once upon a time – but she did, and she put out this video for “That Song in My Head” – bonus points if you can spot a mop-topped Derek cameo:

But I daresay Bruno’s video past takes the cake πŸ™‚ Remember when he wore some bizarre man-leotard and danced in red pants in Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing” video?

But I almost think Carrie Ann should be more embarrassed – cause get a load of this low-budget, 80’s fabulous turd she was in, for an artist most of us have probably never heard of:

Note: According to Wikipedia, Emma was in a George Michael video – but after several hours of scouring YouTube and Google to find it, I came up empty-handed.Β  Was also told Carrie Ann was in a Madonna video, but was unable to determine which one.Β  If any of you want to take a stab at it or have any that I might have missed, feel free to share πŸ™‚

So who were the highlights and the duds? I think Bruno’s cameo in the Elton video is probably still my favorite, simply because it’s so ridiculous and quintessentially Bruno πŸ™‚ And if I were Carrie Ann, I’d hope that video stays buried for good, one of these days.Β  What were your favorites/least favorites?
