What Are Your Early Predictions In These Categories For Dancing With The Stars Season 21?
How about an “early predictions” post for Dancing With The Stars Season 21? Question: If you were to predict who will be the “First Eliminated“, who will be the “Most Dramatic“, who will be the “Biggest Surprise” of the season, and who will be in the Top 3 at the end, who would you pick for each category? Vogue:
First Eliminated: This is hard, but, I’m worried on Victor Espinoza the most. I just have this feeling he’s really struggling and can’t dance. I hope I’m wrong as he’s got one of the best Pros to teach him. I’m worried on Chaka Khan too since she’s paired with Keo and his teaching lacks. I really hope I’m wrong on this too and Keo can prove me wrong. I also really love Chaka and her music too. So, I’d really like to see her stay a while.
Most Dramatic: Well, after seeing this Instagram with her and Val, I have a feeling Tamar Braxton might be the “most dramatic” this season. There is something about her look at times and she gives me an off feeling.
Biggest Surprise: Paula and Gary! A lot of fans moaned a little when we found out these two were dancing (and I thought “on no” to Paula especially), but, after seeing their “Nae Nae” and “first meeting” footages, I think they both will be entertaining and really fun on this show which will help garnish them some votes.
Top 3: I think the Top 3 will be Nick Carter, Bindi Irwin, and Carlos Pena Vega. Nick will win hearts for his dancing skill. Bindi will be able to dance and we won’t be able to get enough of her heart, fun Aussie spirit, and adorableness. Carlos will not only bring on the sexy Latin moves, he’ll bring on the passion too. We will soon see.
Courtney:
First eliminated: Either Victor or Hayes – I think Victor is unfortunately from a sport that’s not quite as popular, but I’m hoping that his story interests viewers and he can get a few votes. Hayes may struggle in that there seems to be several contestants this season gunning for the “young” vote, and he may come up short.
Most dramatic: I guess I’ll go with Gary – he seems like he’s gonna be pretty over-the-top in just about everything he does. 😛
Biggest surprise: Probably Paula – I think she’s going to move better than people think, since she’s lost so much weight. She also seems like she’s going to be a hard worker – she’s got a lot of people she needs to impress.
Top 3: Nick, Carlos, & Alexa – unfortunately, I could see Bindi coming in 4th, a la Bethany Mota.
Heidi:
First Eliminated: Chaka Kahn, unfortunately. I think Victor’s charm will give him a second week, plus he has Karina, while Chaka has Keo – with not-so-good track record.
Most dramatic: Really, I don’t see anyone other than Tamar in this spot. Gary will be crazy, and not so much dramatic. 🙂 Or maybe they will create “drama” in different ways.
Biggest Surprise: Paula all the way. Not just in terms of dancing, but with how freakin’ funny she will be with Louis. Although she might actually be a dancer as well. Andy might be surprising as well.
Top 3: Nick, Alexa, Bindi or Carlos. I think either Alexa or Carlos is going to be an early out, leaving the door open for Bindi – hoping it’s not Alexa. Bindi is already looking way better as a dancer than I expected, and I’m loving her personality more than either Bethany or Nastia….by a LOT. She also has a better story than Carlos or Alexa…or Nick for that matter. Bindi also has the partner with the best track record, which can’t be discounted. I do think this season is Nick’s to lose, however, provided he’s as good a dancer as I expect him to be.
I have to say first eliminated is Victor although could be Chaka for Keos sake hoping not. Most dramatic Tamar, I agree with Paula being a surprise, and my top 3 are Bindi Alexa Nick ( Gary could be another Tommy Chong)
First eliminated: Either Chaka or Hayes. I really like Chaka but Keo is an unreliable teacher/partner. Hayes I have zero interest in, but I love Emma, so I’m torn on that one.
Most dramatic: Putting the most drama queen contestant (Tamar) with the most drama king pro (Val) is like lighting a match while pumping gas. A kaboom just waiting to happen.
Biggest surprise : Paula and her entertaining and funny brand of wacky. The only season I really liked Louis was his season with Kelly. The interaction so far between Paula and him is reminding me a lot of them.
Maybe Gary will be to Anna as Tommy Chong was to Peta. An older, somewhat kooky dance challenged celeb that will be entertaining and sweet. I hope so. For some reason I want Gary to have a good experience on the show.
Finalists: Bindi, Nick, Carlos and Alex. My ” is Susan nuts?” dark horse pick for finalist is Paula.
First eliminated: Chaka/Hayes. I’m leaning more towards Chaka partly because Keo has not been the best teacher in the past.
Most dramatic: Tamar
Biggest Surprise: Paula. If people can get past the reasons why they don’t like her I feel like she might make it farther than I orignally thought.
Finalists: Bindi, Nick, Alexa
First Eliminated: I hope it’s NOT Chaka..i love her! But like everybody said i doubt Keo’s teaching skills…how i wished Chaka was paired up with Artem instead of Keo 🙁 But she has a big enough fanbase..she might survive the first elimination.
I think either VICTOR or GARY will be kicked out first.
Most Dramatic: Kim-Tony & Gary-Anna
Biggest Surprise: Paula, Bindi
Finalists: Nick, Carlos/Alexa (ANY 1 of these 2 will make the finals, i think Alexa), Bindi.
I can be totally wrong though.. Last season i predicted Redfoo will make the finals…and then he was kicked out first! So there you go!
First eliminated: I think either Victor or Hayes. I think Chaka may take Keo past Week 3, actually. I think she resonates more with the general audience as opposed to Hayes and poor Victor. As not-good of a teacher as Keo may be, I think Chaka will have some personality to give her at least 3-4 weeks.
Most dramatic: Either Tamar or Kim. I feel like Tamar is more dramatic than Kim, but something tells me Kim may clash with Tony at some point. She’s just very.. vocal.
Biggest surprise: Alek. I have this very weird feeling that Alek is gonna turn out to be a pretty good dancer. Don’t ask me why but it’s just a hunch. Lol. I hope, hope, hope I’m right cause I’d love for he and Lindsay to stick around for a while. If I turn out to be wrong, then, well so be it. I could see Paula being somewhat if a surprise as well.
Finalists: Top 3 is kinda hard to call but I’m gonna go with Nick, Bindi and Alexa. I could see Bindi being beat out by Carlos but I’m still a bit iffy about his dancing skills. If I had to pick someone for 4th place my gut says Tamar.
We shall see.
First out: Since the cast reveal, I’ve been going round and round in my head on who’s gonna be first out. My initial thought was Gary, but I think the entertainment factor will keep him in at least a week or two. Paula has been getting a lot of hate, but again I think the entertainment factor will keep her in. If Karina can whip Victor in to shape he might be okay, but his nae nae made me cringe a bit. I think Chaka has enough star power to not be out first despite Keo, but I don’t think Kim has enough to save her from Tony. Soo…I think either Kim or Victor.
Most dramatic: I don’t know much about Kim or Tamar, but I can see some drama potential with either just by the vibe I got from them.
Biggest surprise: If Keo gets past week 3 😉 Although seriously, Gary was the jaw-drop-turned-lmfao when they confirmed him.
Top 3: I agree that this is Nick’s season to lose. Bindi will likely give him a run for his money if not win it, and god forbid Val’s partner not be in the top 3. But I’d rather see someone else, like Alexa or even Alek, instead.
First out- That’s a hard one. I’m thinking Hayes or Victor. Like you al said I think Gary will stay bc of crazy and Chaka has a lot fans who wI’ll vote.
Drama- Tamar. Gary could bring the drama but it looks like he likes Anna so he might keep it in check. I was asking my hairdresser about Kim bc I don’t watch any real housewives and she said she felt like Kim was the least dramatic but you never know.
Surprise – Paula. I was not excited to find out she had Louis but I am liking their interactions so far. Alek could be a surprise too as far as dancing goes.
Top 3- Nick,Alexa and Carlos/Bindi. I think Alexa will be good and since she’s in the ABC family they will push her but I could also see Bindi being 2nd. I think the fact that America loved her father, her sweet personality and getting Derek as a partner is going to give her an edge.
I think Andy is getting lost in the shuffle for me. I wonder if Peta will be helping Allison with choreography. She did mention still being a part of the process when she dropped out. If so, that could help them a lot in the ballroom dances.
Val has made the final less than half the time he’s been on the show. So, I wouldn’t be so sure about him and Tamar making it to the final.
first out: I’m hoping gary lol as he scares me and I feel like he won’t dance good.
drama : tamar. the girl is full of diva and attitude I’d probably dislike her if I knew her in real life.
surprise: hayes! I feel his youth is in his favor (hopefully-I LOVE emma!)
Top 3: bindi, carlos/alexa, and…can’t think of the third person. For some reason I imagine Nick not making finals…although Sharna’s choreography is great right now…
Most dramatic I’m thinking is going to be Tamar and Val or Kim and Tony. In regards to first out, in going to guess Gary. Biggest surprise might be Paula or alek. As for top three, my guesses are nick, Carlos, and Alexa.
First Out: Chaka or Victor (I hope Karina can whip him into shape, though!)
Most Dramatic: I’m thinking Paula because of her larger than life personality 😉 Or Tamar because her and Val is a recipe for craziness.
Biggest Surprise: I hope Alek and Hayes can surprise me! I love sweet Emma and I would like to see Lindsay get to the midway point since it’s her first season back.
Top 3: Nick, Carlos and I’m torn between Alexa/Bindi… I honestly don’t know! It will be interesting to see how this season unfolds.

Top 3: Nick, Alexa, Bindi (this will depend on dancing ability because maybe Carlos, Andy or Tamar turn put to be better dancers and make it but a final with Sharna, Derek and Mark would be awesome!!!)

First out Chaka Khan because Keo does lack in teaching. I would say Victor, but Karina will get him through at least the first elimination, maybe two, depending on how some others do.
Most dramatic to Tamar and Val. I don’t think this is going to be the type of pairing that dear old Val is used to and he isn’t going to like. And I don’t see her taking anything from him.
Biggest surprise is either going to be Paula or Gary. Jut depends if Gary can hold it together.
Top 3 to Bindi, Nick and Alexa.
First Eliminated: Victor although I hope not!
If NOT Victor, then maybe Hayes, especially if he’s an awful dancer and comes across as a snotty adolescent. However, I think his Vine fans might be hyped enough to vote for him the first week. After that I think they’ll lose interest pretty fast.
Most Dramatic: Tamar.
I just get that vibe from her and Val is such a drama queen that I see them feeding off each other’s less appealing personality traits in a very negative way. Maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll be this season’s “shocking elim”.
Biggest Surprise: Andy.
I hope he’s as good as a lot of folks expect him to be. Just because he’s got musicality doesn’t mean it will translate to dance ability. Gavin DeGraw comes to mind and, of course, poor Michael Bolton. This is where the switch from Peta to Allison could hurt him. To her credit, Allison is working to improve her ballroom skills but has she gotten to the point where she can teach ballroom to a non-dancer?
Top 3: Nick, Alexa, and Carlos
It sure looks like this season is Nick’s to lose, and if he and Sharna come across as too intense and competitive, he could lose it. I’d like to think Bindi could get a spot in the finals, but I think the anti-Derek sentiment among the general viewership will make it challenging. However, she and Derek could pull it off if TPTB don’t have a definite agenda.
First eliminated–either Victor or Kim Z.
Most Dramatic–I can see Tamar bringing the dramz, especially with Val as her partner. For the guys, I see Hayes being a drama king.
Biggest Surprise–Gary and Paula

I’m scared that it will be Victor…I really hope that isn’t the case though.
Most Dramatic:
Tamar by far. As a fan, I know she has an admirable work ethic, but I worry that her personality will rub those in the typical DWTS demo the wrong way. Most won’t get her humor and will see it negatively while her fans will just see her as typical TayTay. I actually plan to vote for her despite Val (argh) being her partner…which says A LOT for me, lol.
Biggest Surprise:
The obvious choice would be Gary and Paula, but I think Hayes might surprise people as well. For Emma’s sake, I hope he does!
Top 3:
Nick, Alexa, and Carlos — with an outside chance of swapping Nick out for Tamar (huge rabid fan base that may actually VOTE) or Bindi (she’s sooooo darn likable). But, you may never know. Praying there’s no producer manipulation this year…lol. #wishfulthinking
I don’t think I would label it “anti-Derek sentiment” among the general viewership. More like they have it in mind that he doesn’t need to win again, even though he’s very well liked. Important distinction, particularly when referring to a guy who’s sold out Radio City Music Hall many times in 2015. 🙂
I also think that Bindi might over come that. I’ve never thought that he would win again, but Bindi has *something*. Only time will tell if the audience agrees. The fact that her views on her Nae Nae are higher even than Derek’s (by a lot) who is blowing the competition out of the water is mystifying to me. It’s NOT necessarily indicative of how the voting will go…but I find it very curious.
First Eliminated: I think that Victor will probably go first. He is so cute but he seems awkward to me. Alex seems awkward but in a different shy boy kind of way. I think he will be around a few weeks before he leaves.
Most Dramatic: Well Tamar is very dramatic. Hers is more of an attitude dramatic. It could help her performance wise. It will be funny seeing how Mr. Serious is able to reel her back in. Paula is also very dramatic. She couldn’t stop talking at the GMA thing. I feel like having her own cooking show and being the star of that is going to make her command the attention. Gary Busey is more cray cray than attention craving dramatic. I kinda wonder if Bindi will have a bit of dramatic flair due to hosting a show as well. They should know how to turn it on!
Biggest surprise: I do think Paula looks like she’d be ready to shimmy everything she’s got. She is going to be so fun to watch.
My top 3: 1. Carlos 2. Nick 3. Bindi 4. Alexa
I think the upset will be like when we had Charlie and Meryl. They really played up the pair competing against each other that’s why I put Alexa at fourth. I also don’t see Nick getting first only because I don’t think he is going to do as well as we all think with some of the different ballroom styles. He is so tall too. I think Bindi will be like our Candace and Bethany. I think she is gonna sneak into the top three.
Where does ANYONE get the idea that Tamar has a “huge, rabid fanbase”??? I’ve never heard of her before and I’m close to the typical DWTS demo. I hear this with regard to celebs all the time and half the time it’s someone I’ve never heard of, and I’m pretty up on things pop culture. And every time I hear it, that person rarely wins.
@PH – I always chuckle when I think back to Barbara Walters exclaiming that she had voted for Sherri Shepherd “10 times!!!” on The View 😛 Hold onto your hats, kids, we’ve got a power voter on our hands…
Tamar is popular because she is a great R&B singer. She has a great voice, but if you don’t listen to this type of music you might not have heard of her. Not many R&B female singers get airplay because the field is dominated by Beyoncé. Tamar is popular in the Black community; however, I think more White people watch this show so the general audience probably has not heard of her. They probably know Toni Braxton.
I just don’t see both husband and wife making the finals so I say either Alexa or Carlos will not make the finals. Heidi just because you haven’t heard of doesn’t mean she Isn’t well known. Just maybe you are not a fan of the Braxtons or R&B music. I am not saying she is the best dancer but who ever wins judges and producers and fans over will win. The only people I Really know this season is Andy Tamar and Nick the rest I know nothing about. Not a big fan of Val or any of the pros just stating my opinion that’s all I don’t know how this is going to turn out it could go either way.

Although at the outset Nick seems to have it all – demo fanbase, dance background, strong pro – I wonder if expectations will be the biggest weight they carry this season. So while on paper he’s the runaway favorite, I’m wondering if he’ll end up in second while a likable “surprise” like Bindi, Carlos, or Alexa takes the win.
As others have mentioned, I really hope that there’s no producer agenda, although I almost can see them saying – Look at what a great choreographer Sharna is and she hasn’t won yet – this is HER season. I absolutely won’t mind if they kill it, I just hope they can live up to whatever hype the producers have planned – same goes for every other couple.

This is a difficult one to do seeing that no one has performed yet.. But very interesting 🙂
1. First to leave, Victor – I’m hoping he makes it a little further but not sure how he will fit in with the dwts demographics. If not him/Gary
2. Most Dramatic: I can’t seem to decide between Tamar, Gary or Kim Z However, I do believe that Tamar will be tough competition because although she’s spoiled she’s also a perfectionist.
3. Most surprising: I think I’ll revisit this one after the first dance because for me I’m leaning towards Bindi. I think she may surprise a lot of people performance wise including myself. Well, at least I hope so because the girl is pure joy. I think the dwts audience and America is going to fall love with this girl. Like you Heidi, I think she has something “special” Her father’s spirit definitely lives through her ~
4. Top 3: No particular order.. Bindi, Carlos, Alexa/or Tamar – who knows with the attention Paul Deen is receiving, she just may make the semi-finals. 🙂
I never said that Tamar was going to win (I don’t see that happening at all), I just said she had an outside chance of maybe making the finale. I did that she WOULD rub folks in the typical DWTS demo the wrong way. PH, I really think you actually proved my point in saying that you’re in the typical DWTS demo (as am I) and you haven’t heard of her. 😉
We see it all the time — just because I’ve never heard of someone, doesn’t mean they don’t have quite the following and aren’t a celebrity in some right. And she does have a huge fanbase…and they are rabid. Look at Instagram or Twitter if anyone tries to say anything negative about her – obnoxious. And if you look at her numbers of followers, she’s in the millions. Those aren’t small potatoes. Wait until they find this site! (Please God no!)
Note: I’m not a Tamar troll. I’m just a longtime DWTS fan/viewer who happens to be a fan of Tamar.
1. First to leave: Victor or Kim. I like Victor and I’d hate to see Karina out first but I think he’s going to struggle with the dancing and his fanbase. I don’t see Kim lasting long at all but I think Tony’s old fans should scrape them past Victor. Chaka will surely have the juice to get her to at least week 4 regardless of how bad a pro Keo is. Hayes will probably go around week 4-5 once his fans get bored after a couple of weeks. Paula could go early or get to halfway depending on how she comes off to viewers on air.
2. Most Dramatic: On the dancefloor it’ll be Gary hands down. It’s going to be dramatic viewing watching him dance and I do think he’s going to be that guy who should be eliminated straight away but will get keep getting voted back in for the entertainment factor. As for rehearsals/partnership it should be Tamar although I’ve never heard of her personally.
3. Most surprising: Alek. He has a big advantage of a story that should ensure he gets the votes to make it at least halfway, so if he has a slow start scores wise, there is time for him to improve and go on a “journey” so to speak. The kind of journey the judges tried to ram down our throats with regards to Chris Soules last season.
4. Top 3: Nick and Alexa are locks for me and the third could be anyone from Bindi, Carlos, Andy, Alek or Tamar. If I had to pick now I’d go for Bindi.
First to leave: I hope it’s Paula as I don’t care for her or Louis, but I am worried about Victor. I plan to vote for him the first night just to throw some votes his way week 1 so he can make it to week 2.
Most Dramatic: I think Tamar or Kim will be the one to get sassy in rehearsals. I think they won’t understand the full time commitment it takes to do the show and that could make them butt heads with Val and Tony.
Most surprising: Alek. I hope he does well and makes it a while. I hope he has a great journey on the show even if it isn’t that long.
Top 3: Nick, Alexa, Carlos. Nick is a for sure but one of Alexa/Carlos may lose out right around top 4/5 which would open the doors for another person like Andy or a total surprise like Alek.
#28 – After watching their Access Hollywood interview… I might have to change my prediction of the outside change of Andy, to now the outside chance of Alek.
First Eliminated: Victor, His wip nae nae video looked very awkward. He does not look like he has any type of dance ability and Karina being more than four inches taller than him seems like a huge disadvantage.
Most Dramatic: Kim. She is a legend in the Real Housewives series for a reason.
Final 3: Bindi, Carlos, and Alexa. I do not think Nick will have the DWTS support like the other three will to make the finals.Look what happened to his younger brother Aaron.
Biggest Surprise: Like mostly everyone else is saying, I will have to go ahead and say Paula. She has Louis who is hungry for another shot at the MBT, so we will see what she can do on the dance floor. I am pulling for her.
PH (#19), True “anti-Derek sentiment” wasn’t the best phrase because most sane viewers love to watch Derek dance, but there sure seem to be a lot of them with that ridiculously strong pee-wee sports mentality of “Derek has won the MBT too many times someone else deserves to win”. That’s so pathetically stupid on so many levels. Why does everyone forget that Derek’s partner has never won the MBT? (Disclaimer: Except for the da*n all-stars season which I blame for starting TPTB down this road of giving pros trophies they haven’t earned).
Anyway, I hope Bindi has enough dance talent and “it” factor to charm Ma and Pa on the couch to throw away their pee-wee attitude and vote for HER and not fixate on her partner. I also hope the brainless and heartless PTB don’t decide she’s a threat to their plans for the season and throw her under the bus.
That’s right, most have probably heard of Toni Braxton. And remind me again of where she finished?? Oh, that’s right…she was eliminated in Week 5. Her sister is far less famous. Unless she is amazing and the producers decide Val needs to win again, I don’t see her making the finals.
Actually, anna, when it comes to DWTS, if I haven’t heard of them, odds are good that they’re just not that famous. Tamar is the ONLY person in this cast besides Carlos that I hadn’t heard of.
Er, I don’t think you understand the concept of having your point proved, les – She doesn’t rub me the wrong way at all. I don’t know her enough for that to happen.

I’ve yet to see many of these people in action (it doesn’t help that media coverage ranges from nonexistent to lopsided) so taking a shot in the dark:
First out: Kim – one of the lesser knowns, potential diva, dancing with Tony
Most Dramatic: Tamar – potential diva reality star meets Chmerkovskiy. Or possibly Kim if she sticks around long enough.
Biggest Surprise: Alek. Serviceman brought to you via heroic story plus good looking, well paired, and hardworking. I really like what I’m seeing from him so far and think America will too.
Top 3: The only one I’m fairly confident saying is Bindi provided she’s talented enough as a dancer (which footage and comments suggest). Maybe Alexa if she doesn’t lose some votes to Bindi. Nick, though probable, is not a lock to me just yet. I could see Alek placing if a decent dancer. Carlos is bound to finish well. Tamar has lines for days and could bring that tension the TPTB so desire. Andy’s an under-the-radar dark horse. Paula is my longshot.
It’s kinda funny, Cidra. I was picking out tile for my kitchen today and I got to talking to the woman who was helping me and her husband is a coach. They both think that the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality running rampant today is one of the worst things to happen to today’s youth. And we weren’t even talking about DWTS!! I have to say, she’s right. It turns kids into Val – thinking they have a right to win because it’s their “turn.”
Yeah, Cidra – I actually know quite a few people that aren’t hardcore fans of the show like most of us here – but do turn in every week and while they really like Derek, they have the misconception that he always gets the good ones, and even trying to argue against it is often fruitless.
I think we’ve all talked about this on the site ad nauseum, but it is a factor even if it shouldn’t be. Hopefully Bindi will do well and charm the dickens out of folks – I think she’s exactly the kind of person that COULD make people vote for Derek in spite of the perception.
That being said, I don’t think Derek and his partner ever need to win in the way that some pros *cough Val* really seem hungry for it – and I don’t need him to win, but I tend to enjoy his partnerships and routines so I’m always glad he’s usually in for the long haul.
That being said, I wouldn’t mind Mark having a genuine shot again – he’s come close with some surprising celebs, but missed out with some more ringer-y ones. I’ve really enjoyed him the past few seasons though, so I hope Alexa continues that trend.
1st Eliminated: Victor, of all the celebs he is the one with less hype around him, hopefully he’ll make a good first impression on the dance floor.
Most dramatic: Val. I don’t know anything about Tamar but there is always drama with Val…
Biggest surprise: Paula, there was a lot of people against her being on the show and maybe she will surprise everyone by being fun to watch and a decent dancer(?).

Surprise: I think people are dismissing Hayes too early in the game. We’ve only seen a few seconds of dancing (admittedly not great), but with Emma & his fan base, I think he’ll be the biggest surprise.

Yes, you were right about my point not being proven (got my comments mixed up from a different post so I completely missed the mark on that one) but while you may not have been responding to me, you did DIRECTLY quote me (quotation marks and all) so that’s why I chose to respond. Bindi–she’s just so cute and infectious would love to be a fly on the wall during their rehearsals must be so much fun!!!
Carlos–he has the BTR fan base and yes, I know, social media proves nothing but if we think back to James Maslow based on his 4th place finish I think it’s safe to say his fan base was voting—and since Carlos shares the same fanbase…… I can see Alexa doing very well however I see other stars who may not dance as well as her getting more votes for winning the hearts of viewers therefore not sure that the spy kid fan base is enough to push her to the end–however maybe the Mark fans can make up for where she falls short. I have really grown to enjoy and appreciate Mark, again, over the last few seasons

First elimination – Alek, unless he shows some great dance skill. I feel like he doesn’t have the fan bases everyone else does. I also feel like many people won’t have strong feelings about Lindsay, so they wot be voting just to keep her on.
Most Dramatic: I’m going with Paula. She seems like she needs to make everything she says just over the top. Her reactions at the reveal, her intro video with Louis, etc. showed this.
Biggest surprise: Hayes. I think a lot of people have already dismissed him cause of his age. His nae nae video was cringeworthy and made me wonder if he’ll be able to dance without looking incredibly awkward. If he does start getting it, he could be in there for a while.
Top 3: Nick, Bindi and Carlos.
PH, I’m glad to hear there might be a few tiny cracks starting to form in “everyone deserves a trophy” mentality. Perhaps there’s a ray of hope that the few generations won’t turn into complete entitled, undereducated, self-absorbed cry-babies.
Fig, (#41) Yep, I no longer have those conversations with friends and colleagues either. Not worth it. It’s so true that Derek doesn’t worry about winning another MBT. I think he just likes to share his passion for dance with his celeb and the audience, and he wants to “do right” by his celeb. Even when he has someone from a competitive background whose focus has been on winning (like Nastia), he finds a way to help them see the value of just going on the ride and embracing the whole crazy experience.
You know what just occurred to me while reading the comments? If Alek proves to be an insanely good dancer (not saying he will be, but still), he’s in for a good shot at winning. He’s likeable, good looking, a military hero, plus I know a lot of people have been waiting for Lindsay to get a second chance at pro. So IF he wins (that’s a big if), Lindsay will HAVE to come back next season even though she was a stand-in for Peta. That would be interesting to watch in terms of pro casting next year! Even if they place 2nd or 3rd, lots of fans will expect Lindsay back.

Ok this is way off topic but i was so happy when they brought keo on his first season because I’m African American so i thought this will be different and a chance for more people of color to come on but really come on he can’t teach…..i love love Derek and after watching sasha last season i wanted him to get a chance
I just saw a little clip of their rehearsal for the flash mob. Gary and Anna were one of the couples in the shot. Got to say that Gary was looking like a white Master P. Anna was just dancing around him, flung herself back into a dip. I think Victor and Karina will at least have some charm, so I think Gary will be first out.
About Bindi, what occurs to me is that she is, if nothing else, EXPRESSIVE. Derek is giving her a brand new language for doing just that, in a whole new dimension. Maria Menunous mentioned Derek’s comment that although she has no dance experience, there’s something inside ready to come out. I think it’s that exxpressiveness finding another outlet.

I can’t understand the logic behind Tamar not being famous enough because you haven’t heard of her…and really, does it matter? I think a very rare proportion of people would have known Amy and Noah and they ended up being great contestants. I know they both had physical differences but even so…
You may not have heard of Tamar but considering her album from 2 years ago went to number 2 in the Billboard charts and she has some of the most followers on social media (behind Hayes, Carlos and Paula) on Twitter there is clearly a following there which means she’s famous enough. You may not know her but not everyone’s cast for the exact same demo- hence Hayes which pretty much anyone over the age of 20 would scratch their head about.
Ooh wee, lotta uber-defensive Tamar fans…hopefully this isn’t an indicator of how y’all are gonna act all season long…
…let me break it down for you, Vanessa: the main viewing demographic of this show is middle-aged, conservative-leaning women. If someone expects to win this show (or at least go far on it), they need that demographic on their side – and it helps if that demographic is on their side from the get-go. Not saying it’s impossible for someone less well-known to win them over (i.e. Noah, JR Martinez – but keep in mind both were veterans), but it’s certainly easier if that particular group of viewers a) knows who you are, and b) likes you. Tamar is unfortunately more of what I call a “niche” celebrity – somebody that is well-known to a more specific group of people, but maybe isn’t as much of a household name among the general populace. I tend to hear her music on R&B stations/channels – but not on the top 40; her reality show is on a channel (WEtv) that’s likely less well-known than Bravo, E!, VH1, etc. As for the Twitter followers – we’ve investigated this one before; someone can have millions of followers, but the real test is actually getting those followers to vote. Redfoo had over a million Twitter followers when he was on DWTS last season, and he was the first one voted out; Noah had a few thousand, and made it all the way to 3rd place. It’s all about whether you can get your bajillion Twitter followers to actually VOTE. As for Hayes – I’ve also said he could struggle with votes this season, because he’s more of a “niche” celebrity, and we’ve seen in the past that it’s often hard for celebs with a very young-skewing fanbase to get their fans to focus up and vote smart; ditto for Victor, who is unfortunately from a sport that does not have a huge mainstream following. Two celebs that will likely do well with votes this season? Alek (a veteran), and Paula (who has a large conservative fanbase).
I knew who everyone was on this cast except that young boy? I can’t even remember his name actually. ? I also forgot about Kim Z. She could also be in the running for dramatic. Those housewives are crazy! Since they are doing the lesser known military guys which I love I wonder if they might eventually transition into one regular Joe on the show? I think this mix of celebs is going to make for some seriously interesting/crazy t.v.
I wonder, if Gary is the first one out how will Anna spin this when she is on Afterbuzz. We all know how bitter sounding she has been in the past, just wondering if this will cool her jets or make her jealously & bitterness fester even more?
Jenn, if they start putting “regular Joes” on DWTS, I think I’ll be done watching. That’s a different show in my opinion. It’s bad enough having to put up with The Bachelor/ettes, Real Housewives, and their ilk (people who are on TV just to be on TV). However, I realize that’s my bias; I don’t like karaoke, open-mic nights or local talent shows either.
@Jenn & Cidra – Count me out as well, if they’re casting regular folks off the street. I think I’ve talked about this before when someone mentioned that they should start casting “average joes” on the show…the show is called “Dancing with the Stars”, not “Dancing with the Guy/Girl Next Door”. Part of the appeal of the show is seeing these cool, collected celebrities doing something out of their element – and if we’re throwing Susie Homemaker from Columbus, OH into the cast, pretty much everything is going to be out of her element…the lights, the camera, the live television…nevermind the dancing. The average person would probably clam up completely on a show like DWTS…which would not be at all interesting for me to watch. The last show I saw that was teaching regular people how to dance was that gadawful Dirty Dancing reality show on WEtv 9 or 10 years ago. CRINGEWORTHY.
@PJ – It will be interesting to see how Anna acts now, for sure – because here’s the rub: before, she had nothing to lose by badmouthing the show on Afterbuzz…she was a former pro, and the likelihood of her getting asked back was slim to none. Now out of nowhere, the opportunity to come back has fallen into her lap – and if she plays it right, she could be back to being a full-time pro again (doubtful, but you never know). So now it’s a bit riskier for her to badmouth the show and continue the bitter old hag act we’ve seen the past few years – because, as bitter as she and Louis have been about the show since they were booted, you best believe both likely jumped at the chance to get back on it. The limelight of DWTS just holds too great an appeal 🙂
Most Dramatic: Tamar & Kim, with a shout out to Gary.
First out: Vic or Hayes. Both looked incredibly bad in their nae nae videos. Then again they both have good pros. My third guess would be Kim. How many people know of her?
I think Gary will be horrid at dancing but he will be so frickin entertaining to watch (bill nye anyone) that he should at least clear week 1.
My final three: nick bindi alek
I think Alek will shock us all with how far he can go. Young, good looking, strong, hero.
I think Tamar will make an mid field exit. DWTS people don’t like attitude even if accompanied by great dancing. Toni Braxton could move so well but she didn’t make the finals. Same with Christina Milian. Kristin Cavilari could dance but she didn’t resonate and poof!!
I’m also a little worried about Andy. I mean I would not know who he was if not for last years subway/train number…….could he fade into the woodwork with all the strong personalities this season? And I’m sorry to say it, although AH is very creative I think she’s a weak ballroom teacher.
As someone who’s been a big Tamar fan since the mid-90s (showing my age!) when she was in The Braxtons, I’m gonna be pretty defensive…so early apologies on that one. 😀
I totally get the thing about the main demo..and Tamar’s definitely a niche celeb. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with casting niche celebs on the show. I think although there’s a main demo the show has really been wanting to reach more demos, especially that of the ‘Twitter generation’ with people like Riker, Cody and Bethany. I think it’s good to cast celebs like Tamar who people of my demo will also be more used to- coming from an African-American woman the same age as Tamar. I understand it’s not a sort of casting that’ll happen every season because my age and gender probably doesn’t make up a huge amount of the overall viewing population, but I like seeing that representation and I’m gonna root for her. Sadly, I’m not sure if she’ll go all the way and similarly to the last younger R&B star in Christina Milian I think she could be a mid-season boot.
But I guess my point is that I don’t think it’s actually needed to have heard of EVERYONE. Some people may have heard of Nick but not Tamar, and Hayes but not Victor etc…but I think they all have decent fan bases in their own way (some more than others) and they’re all of a good level of fame to be cast. I like the representation and diversity throughout.
No one is saying there’s anything wrong with Tamar or niche celebrities being cast – just that they have a slightly tougher road to navigate to bring in the main voting demographic – which is far more key to longevity on the show than Twitter followers or social media hype. That’s all.

My top three would be Nick, Bindi, and Alexa. How awesome would a Sharna/Derek/Mark finals be?! That would be amazing! (Still a bit miffed that the Charlie/Sharna freestyle didn’t happen. The concept was so interesting! Argh!)
I’m a bit worried about Nick because a lot of people expect him to win and if people’s expectations are too high, they might end up disappointed. Nick is great, don’t get me wrong, but they’re all new at this ballroom thing so I hope for an equal playing field in that sense. I hope they win though. I’d love for Sharna to get the Mirrorball, not because I think it’s “her turn” but simply because I like her. She looks like a hard worker and she’s a fantastic choreographer. I’m happy though that she said she’s more focused on the journey than on winning. Hopefully, they both keep that same mentality and have a great time!
My second favorite would be Team Crikey. I’ve been watching Miss Bindi since she was a toddler and she’s grown up to be a lovely young lady. I find her sometimes-over-the-top enthusiasm endearing. And I think it’s cute the way she talks with her hands.
I think Alexa’s nae nae was the smoothest and I’m guessing she’s a natural, prior experience or not. And one of my favorite movies as a kid was Spy Kids so there’s that ?
Part of me wonders if Nick might be getting set up to be more of a Kendra Wilkinson (celeb that everyone thought would be awesome, but ended up kinda being a dud) than an Alfonso Ribeiro (celeb that was every bit as awesome, if not more, than everyone predicted he would be). But I think part of Kendra’s problem was that she had Louis, who just didn’t know how to handle her; I think Sharna is smarter and hungrier, and will know how to take Nick the farthest. He’ll be aight 🙂

First eliminated: I think it’s either Gary or Kim. I also have a hunch that Andy would be eliminated early, Michael Sam-style or even getting shock boot, Willow-style. I don’t know, just a hunch. On the other side, I’ve got a feeling Alek would go far.
Most dramatic: Meh, always skip the drama. It could be Bindi for all I care.
Biggest surprise: Again I agree, Paula looks like she could be quite a dancer, would love to see that come true. Not that I like Paula (indifferent about her) but surprises are always welcome.

Vanessa, sorry, but, I hardly even know who Tamar is except for what Courtney’s posted about her since the cast has been announced. What I’ve seen of her so far, I’m not impressed. Also, her having the most followers on social media, means nothing. Please read Courtney’s post again.
Other than one Instagram video and a GMA announcement where she barely spoke, there’s really not even much to judge Tamar on! Of course, had she been paired with a more popular pro here everyone would be singing her praises.
Sounds like you have a hard time with disagreeing opinions. Not everyone is going to feel like you on her. If you can’t handle that, maybe you should go elsewhere.
This Tamar argument has gone so far off the rails I don’t even know where to start…so here’s the main points:
*Tamar is more of a “niche” star – possibly not as well-known as some of the other names this season. Nothing wrong with that, nobody said there’s anything wrong with that – just that she might have to work a bit harder to earn votes from the general viewing audience. When I mentioned her name to my mom (who generally fits into the middle-aged conservative stereotype), she didn’t immediately know who she was, until I said “She’s Toni’s younger sister”, and then she was like “Ohhhh, ok, yeah I think I know which one she is.”
*When you are a “niche” star, the viewers seem to hone in more on anything you do or say in interviews/in the media since they have no sense of what you’re about otherwise. Therefore, if you have one “off” interview, it could turn some people off. Hell, Bindi seems to already been turning some folks off for being too “perky”. Can’t please everyone…that’s LIFE.
*Not even sure what her pro has to do with anything. If anything, I’m glad Val got Tamar, cause I have a feeling she’s gonna teach HIM a few things. And in reality, I think she was probably originally paired with Artem – which would have been a good pairing to see, since Artem has only had older partners up to this point.
I don’t even know what else to say…nobody on either side of the argument seems like they’re gonna be satisfied with just letting this one go…

Am fine with the comments you’ve made Courtney and I probably took ‘niche’ to having more of a negative stereotype than it has- but at the same time I’m just happy to see someone representing my demo on this show. It got blown out of proportion but I never said she’d go very far because of her social media following- just that it shows she has a following of some sort, whether or not they watch DWTS.
My issue was simply that I feel like she’s been given a bit of a hard time despite not having seen any footage of her all, really. Had these comments came about while the show was on I wouldn’t be against them- it’s just that to me I feel that she hasn’t really done anything to deserve the negative comments she’s had so far.

@Vanessa – Just to clarify, within the context of this site, “niche” more refers to someone who has a very specific fanbase…and the show seems to be steering more and more to the “niche” fanbases these days, with casting of more mainstream names getting harder and harder. I would say Hayes is another niche fanbase, because he’s not extraordinarily well-known outside of the Vine community. Victor is also unfortunately a niche fanbase, since his name doesn’t tend to ring any bells outside of the horse racing community (although winning the Triple Crown may have brought him slightly more into the mainstream). I would say that both Paula and Alek are more mainstream than niche, simply because they’ve had their names in the news lately; Nick is probably also more mainstream, due to the global popularity of the Backstreet Boys during their heyday. Make sense?
I don’t mean to have an issue with your opinion and I know it comes across that way- I was just curious as to why you weren’t impressed because I knew you weren’t familiar with her beforehand and was just genuinely interested as to what you had seen which maybe didn’t make you too impressed with her.
But even so- you go your way and I go mine. With different stars come different views and opinions- we can’t all love everyone. 🙂

I wasn’t too happy with a Vine star originally but they seem to be getting the social media reaction they wanted from it so I’ll give Hayes a chance.

I agree on that Les! Wasn’t a fan when they cast Sadie a couple seasons ago and by the time she was on the show I loved her.
As I said, I don’t mind if people like Tamar or don’t. Same with everyone else in the cast! I just hope everyone keeps an open mind til Monday…I think it’s best to just simply judge them for what they do on the dance floor more than anything 🙂

I feel that Rumer and Val were overly praised all season for mediocre dancing. Nastia was JUST as good as Rumer and when TPTB have to make a package where you look bad, in likely response to the HUGE numbers of votes they were getting so ‘the chosen ones'(Val and Rumer) would win…they kept repeating that negative package of Nastia at LEAST 3 times, IIRC. Plus then you have Noah proposing to his GF during the Semi-Finals? Please, like that wasn’t staged to take votes away from Nastia, then I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
I don’t frequent The ABC DWTS boards because I’ve never experienced such vile hate spewed towards certain Pros and they allow that..NO thanks. People who I know who watched last season, liked Nastia, then Riker then Noah….they were tired of the same kind of dancing from Rumer all season long.
While it might have seemed like Rumer didn’t fit the ‘avg dwts demo’, she pretty much did right away as an extension of her parents…in the whole ‘look a what a lovely young lady Bruce & Demi’s kid turned out to be’….I think it’s the same thing Bindi could have going for her this season.
Rumer (and Val) definitely was decided to be the winner by TPTB. They needed a winner to pump the audience anticipation on their Perfect 10 Tour. Do you really think TPTB will give a chance for Nastia ‘s partner (their competitor) a MBT knowing he’s going on his own tour the same summer as DWTS? At the beginning of last season FB people were leaning towards Nastia until…TPTB decided to show her package that wasn’t so pleasant to watch. Just like Janel, Rumer couldn’t do any wrong. It was all candy land whether it was her package or the judges comments. Ever wonder why she wasn’t given dance such as Charleston? I have no doubt Nastia could be Kellie Pickler 102 if she was given the same chance as Rumer. If Nastia ended up on the final, the story could be different. Anyone noticed how Bruce Willis wow-ing Nastia’s Charleston Subway? I still consider Nastia vs. Rumer was dirty politics by TPTB. General audience doesn’t read sites like this. Their votes can be influenced by whatever is presented. If TPTB stil trying to baby sit Val, I can see Tamar going to the top 3. Just watch and follow what the judges will say. If it’s all sweet and dandy a la Janel, you can bet she will be in the top 3.

What Courtney said on Tamar – really, it’s not that difficult to figure out, if you have a single logical bone in your body.
I will also add that Val is NOT Derek OR Sharna, when it comes to personality, star power and choreography – THAT has a lot to do with why someone succeeds on this show. Social media might be an indicator of popularity in general, it is NOT indicative of how well you will do on DWTS. Not even close.
Vanessa, you might want to take reading comprehension lessons. Who said there was anything “wrong” with casting Tamar?? Um, no one. We were talking about who is likely to WIN. I objected to the assertion that Tamar would win because she’s so famous and so well known. Courtney explained our logic quite well.

Rumer won because she was likeable, and a very strong dancer. right from the get go on DwtsFacebook Rumer was the one to beat. If you really want to learn who will win just look at the reaction on Facebook. As far as Tamar and the niche star stuff, that is weird, I don’t understand why she’s put in a box. There is no doubt Paula and Gary were cast for drama, Gary is bizarro which tempers why a racist like Deen is even cast. Who the hell knows who this married couple is? Niche semi-celebrities for sure.
Miss J – I don’t think anyone is necessarily hating on Tamar either…or at least I don’t see it that way. I wrote a confusing/inaccurate post yesterday because I got my comments on articles mixed up. But I got called out and I owned up to that.
Now, I’ve been reading this website long enough (4 years) to know that landmines comment could possibly result in folks thinking I’m overly sensitive. But I’m okay with that because it wasn’t meant to be passive aggressive — I said that very sincerely. Sometimes you don’t truly know if what you post is going to land the right way, but that’s the risk we all take when we post! Yes, part of being a grown up is absolutely being able to handle disagreement, but part of being a grown up (in my case) is also being self-aware enough to know when to chill out and shut up because you got yourself all worked up over a celebrity who doesn’t even know you! LOL!
Of course all points of view should be welcomed, and yeah it’s good to be challenged…but at the end of the day we all know whose site this is and they have every right to run it (and deal with our cray cray) as they see fit! We don’t always have to like it, but we should certainly respect it! 🙂

I thought this was a fun early predictions post… How did it turn into a Tamar/Rumer/y’all picking on poor little Val and his partners post? It isn’t that serious, lol.
First Eliminated: As soon as Gary was announced, I figured he would be first out. I have since started to wonder if it will be Victor. I know many of us are skeptical of Keo’s ability as a pro, but I think Chaka will last at least until the 3rd or 4th week.
Most Dramatic: When I think dramatic, I think Tamar. From what I’ve seen of her from her shows and on social media, she can come across as very “extra.” I think it’ll be interesting to see how she and Val work together.
Biggest Surprise: Oh, I’m not even sure. I think Bindi and Paula will be better than expected, but the biggest surprise to me would be if Nick ends up being a dud and Hayes ends up being good/charming. I don’t think either will happen, though.
Top 3: Nick, Bindi, Carlos/Alexa.
Very new to this site/board and the DWTS world. Last season (S20) was the 1st season i watched in full and real time. Previously used to be mostly a YT follower.
Most Dramatic: Gary/Kim/Paula
Biggest Surprise: Alek/Bindi

First Eliminated: Either Kim or Gary. I think Chaka can pull a Patti Labelle, and stay for a few weeks. And I think Victor has Karina which in my opinion is one of the best female pro’s ever on the show, also Victor came across as likeable to me during the reveal.
Most Dramatic: I think either Tamar, Paula or Gary.
Biggest Surprise: In my opinion Alek could be a surprise, if he can handle the pressure of the spotlights. Hayes could be a suprise too, simply because he has Emma. I also think Bindi can be a suprise. Her nae nae video looked awkward to me, but she has Derek, and he will pull everything out of her. He will make her look the best she can.
