Dancing More Challenging Than Andy Grammer Expected – New DWTS Interview
Andy Grammer talked with Penn Live about his tour and, of course, Dancing With The Stars. He’s taken his partner Allison Holker on the road again with him this week. He talks of rehearsals and how challenging it is to dance and more. Keep at it, Andy. You can do it!
The “Honey, I’m Good” singer, who is competing on “Dancing with the Stars,” currently has his dancing partner Allison Holker on the road with him.
“We’re going to have to find a place to rehearse right before or after,” he said. “We’ll find a dance studio or a church, any place that has a floor.”
The duo will be practicing two dances, a Jive and a contemporary dance, for next week’s show.
Although the competition just started, Grammer said it is already more of a challenge than he anticipated.
“It’s super hard,” he said. “I’m someone that things come relatively quickly to, and this is not [coming] as fast as I would’ve hoped. It’s going to have to come faster if I’m going to stick around on the show.”
For him, being able to perform in between the stressful dance rehearsals has been cathartic.
“I’m doing something that I’m really bad at all day long so then to get on stage and perform, it’s kind of awesome,” he said.
The singer said he was inspired to join “Dancing with The Stars” by his late mother’s love for dancing.
“She never danced but she loved to watch [people dancing],” he said. “I miss her a bunch and this is something that I can kind do to feel closer to her.”

This will be a tough week for Andy. I feel for any of the contestants when they have to squeeze in reherasals while traveling.
Andy just seems like an all-around good guy. I liked him when he did “Honey, I’m Good” with Nastia, Sasha, and Derek. So I’m glad he’s on this season. I hope we’ll see Andy improve each week. Sometimes it just takes a few weeks to get the hang of the basics, then things click, and learning becomes easier. Contemporary could be good for him (especially since it’s Allison’s specialty). Not sure about Jive. Musically it’s a good fit for him; physically? he’s kind tall and lanky, which isn’t the best build for jive. We’ll have to wait and see.
Fingers crossed he’ll resonate with enough viewers to stick around for a good long while.
Cidra, I love Andy too. I thought he and Allison were great last week. I hope he’s able to pull off both dances this week. Man…I can’t image how the celebs are dealing with two dances already? At the same time, I love this change up on the show and it’s going to weed out the puppies from the big dogs and quickly.
Andy will be fine this week. But I am worred that he is going to get lost in the shuffle and possibly be an early elimination.
