PureDWTS Season 21, Week 6 – “Iconic Dance Week” Predictions

So I think we had some pretty good discussion, both here and on Twitter, about what dances from music videos, movies, and stage that we each think are “iconic” – so why not do a prediction post? 🙂

I’ve included what we know so far (check out Heidi’s “Who’s Dancing What” for more details); songs that have gotten used in the past that might crop up again (because we all know they love reusing songs); songs that could crop up again, but probably won’t because they were used so recently; and songs that I, Court, would love to see used 🙂 Read more..

Our Weekly DWTS 21 Week 5 Fashion Round Up For Erin Andrews, Julianne Hough, And Carrie Ann Inaba

Sometimes I need to sit down and think hard to figure out which week we’re in for the season. This is one of those weeks. It’s also been “one of those weeks” for me.  It also felt like the whole week was off, on the show. Tom’s dad passed away, no one was with their regular partners, and things just didn’t completely feel like things were completely “jelled.” There were a few dances that I LOVED! But the whole atmosphere seemed just “off” to me. And like others mentioned in other posts and in the comments, I’m more than done with the whole “married couple competing” schtick. I do think it is an interesting concept, but I don’t think Alexa and Carlos were the correct couple. Even IF the show didn’t beat us over the head with the schtick 10,000 times each episode, I think they should have found a couple that were a bit older, longer married, more secure and a lot more mature.

Erin’s weekly style blog is over on People. I LOVED the color of her dress, and I don’t mind that it was shorter. She’s going back and forth from the Red Room to the other end of the ballroom and back. I don’t think the shoes were the best match, what would you say, Miss Vogue?

Julianne’s weekly style blog is over on Instyle. I’m a bit torn about how I feel about her dress. I like it, and she looks really good in it, but not so sure about the cut outs, and wish she had found something with more color. How about the color that Erin wore?

And Carrie Ann! I’m starting to think she needs to change up some of her styling, Erin and Julianne both continually change it up and take risks, while Carrie Ann definitely is a bit more conservative in her styling choices. Yes, she’s older than both of the other two women, but I think it’s possible to change it up. Her blog is up on Parade, and she gives her thoughts on all of the couples. You should go and read on your own, but I’m not going to talk much about it here, I prefer Courtney’s two recap posts here and here.

So! Which is your Best Dressed this week? I think I’m going to give Erin the edge this week, with Julianne a second.

DWTS Season 21, Week 5 – Switch-Up Postmortem & POLL: How Did the Pros Handle the Switch?

So I came up with this idea while writing this week’s power rankings – since the rankings were basically an assessment of who is the least likely to the most likely to go home (and this week, it combined the scores from two weeks) , I felt like I still needed somewhere to discuss how well the couples actually handled the switch…without so much emphasis placed on points or eliminations. Especially because the scoring was kinda off on Monday night – I felt like there wasn’t necessarily a direct correlation between who scored the highest and who I would really call “successful” in the switch up.

This post is going to focus mainly on the pros and how well they handled things, but I will say a few words on the celebs first: with the exception of Tamar and Nick, I felt like all the celebs really embraced the switch with open arms, and were game for just about anything – which is good 🙂 I think flexibility and just “rolling with it” was the key to a successful switch partnership this time around.  As for Tamar & Nick – I feel like Tamar just tends to have walls up with just about everyone except close family, so she was maybe a tad resistant to the switch, as it meant having to connect with yet another person (after she admitted to only recently connecting with Val); Nick wasn’t necessarily resistant to the switch, but I think he may have written his switch partner off as not really invested and decided that he was going to drive the bus instead. Seemed like a bit of a power-struggle between he & Witney. Read more..

Maks Chmerkovksiy Vows Not To Become A Permanent Judge On DWTS, Blasts Hope Solo

According to People via a Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast Maks Chmerkovksiy says he won’t becoming back to Dancing With The Stars as a “permanent” judge. Hmmm…let’s remember he said that. And that’s not all Maks said. He also reveals some things about his former partners. Let’s just say, he doesn’t have pretty thoughts for Hope Solo.

There’s no love lost between Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Dancing with the Stars.

The former DWTS pro returned as a guest judge on Monday’s episode, but he has no intention of returning in a more permanent basis, saying he was heavily censored when he worked on the series.

“It’s a permanent thing. I’m not coming back,” he said on Tuesday’s Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast.

When the hosts noted that Chmerkovskiy’s brother Val Chmerkovskiy was still a pro on the show, he responded that’s “his problem.”

Podcast hosts Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss, who is a PEOPLE contributor, also asked Chmerkovskiy to play game of shag, marry, kill, using stars he was paired with. Chmerkovskiy said Willa Ford was the only one of his stars he slept with (the two dated).

“I would probably marry … somebody like, Misty May-Treanor was awesome. And she’s an amazing chick,” he said. “And I would definitely kill Hope Solo.”

He continued to explain his feelings about Solo, with whom he has feuded in the past.

“She’s just a s—– person,” he said. “People can be bad or good or whatever. You can have a s—– life growing up. You can have a tough upbringing. You can have history. You can have whatever. But if you are just a bad person, you know what I mean? There’s no excuse for that.”
