Artem Chigvinstev And Mischa Barton Talk On Rehearsals, Knowing Each Other Before DWTS, And More
Artem Chigvinstev and Mischa Barton were interviewed by Access Hollywood today. They talk about how they knew each other before they were paired as partners for Dancing With the Stars. They also talk on how their rehearsals are going so far. Artem says Mischa has a lot of potential and she can take on a role for every dance. LOL to him throwing her around. These two are funny and adorable.
I don’t know a thing about the O.C., but I’m not feeling her yet. Is it just me? Artem on the other hand, impressed me. I thought he handled the interview well and I certainly like him more than Val! I laughed inside about her saying, “No, I’ve never danced before. Except for ballet and stuff when I was a kid………….. But nothing like this.”
Interesting that Misha said TPTB told her a bit about who would be on this season before she signed. I wonder if our 3 footballers knew this season is the NFL Edition before hand? And I definitely heard that a Tango is their first dance. Can give them a chance to impress right out of the gate but could mean losing a potentially impressive dance early on before they’re comfortable.
It was nice to see Mischa smile and laugh a few times. I think she’s very guarded (with people in general and the media in particular). She’s not the talkative warm-fuzzy type, but I thought I detected a dry/wry sense of humor. That’s something she and Artem have in common. So if Mischa decides she can trust Artem, and as long as Artem doesn’t use the traditionally harsh “Russian teaching method” on her, I think they’ll get along.
I’m kind of getting some Elizabeth Berkley vibes from her. I think Mischa could be good (if she has any dance skills) but she can’t hold back and just sort of do this halfway.
Based on these videos and knowing each other before DWTS, I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe Mischa requested Artem. When finding out who all the couples were for the first time, I wondered why Jodie ended up with Keo and Mischa was with Artem, not the other way round. This would make sense.
This interview was good for Mischa. I knew she used to be on The OC (not that I ever watched that show) but, got a negative opinion of her from the media coverage of the last few years of her life.
I agree Cidra, if she can open up a bit and Artem isn’t strong handed with his teaching methods, they coud go far….so long as TPTB don’t give her the “Nastia treatment”.
@M8, Could be, but I think TPTB were being a lot more proactive when they gave Jodie to Keo. They’re still trying to make him happen and he’s done nothing to help them. So the only thing left to try is to give him a celeb with previous dance experience and a fanbase that lines up pretty nicely with the show’s demo.
@Kelly, If Mischa can dance, I wouldn’t mind if she stays around for a while, but in a cast that’s so fanbase-rich, she has a lot of ground to make up in votes. I’m not sure she’ll have enough time to engage the audience’s interest. It’ll be interesting to see.
We’ve got some big personalities in the cast this season, so I do worry that a celeb like Mischa, with her quieter personality will get lost in the shuffle.
I do really hope that their first dance is Tango. An intense, high powered dance like that will help her stand out a bit. Also, having a dance that’s almost all in hold will help with any first show nerves.
I do want her to do well and have a positive experience on the show. I remember seeing pictures of her several years ago looking lost and wasted. It’s an industry based on the superficial and the next, new thing, and it can be brutal for some.
Susan2, you’re so right about the industry abusing people. They suck in vulnerable kids/teens, fawn all over them while they’re using them, and then abandon them for the next pretty face. Some handle it better than others (the lucky ones have strong adult support systems, the unlucky ones don’t).
I’ve never followed Mischa’s career or watched anything she’s been in, but I’m sympathetic to someone who’s legitimately trying to put themselves back together after getting knocked around and making some bad decisions.
So not looking forward to further DWTS interviews with the obnoxious ones, Bush & Hoover. I like Artem so I hope Mischa gets her groove on and they have a great first dance.
