DWTS22 Ginger Zee Teaching Val Chmerkovskiy About Parenthood, New “Our Way” Heavyweight Poster
Did you ever expect we’d see Val Chmerkovskiy learn about pumps and breast feeding? He is. Below he and Ginger Zee talk to People all about it and what she’s been teaching Val so far about parenthood during rehearsals.
I think there’s a lot of new moms out there that are going, ‘I don’t know if I can do that,’ but I think hopefully being a role model will [help]. Women get asked that all the time. ‘How are you gonna do it all?’ … It’s just underlying,” she said after the full DWTS cast was revealed. “We’re just doing it. There isn’t a question of ‘How are you gonna do it?’ ”
And partner Val Chmerkovskiy has learned some new things about parenthood as well.
“I’m familiar with the pumps now, which is very unusual,” Chmerkovskiy said of his partner using a breast pump before rehearsal.
“Women will say — I travel and breastfeed — ‘Well, how are you going to do that?’ ” she told reporters. “A lot of people do it! [Val’s] just gotten used to it. And it’s just a part of life. You walk in, you start pumping and get it out, and then I’m ready to practice!”
More at People.
And speaking of Val! For those going to the Maks and Val tour this summer, below is a new “Our Way” poster.

ETA: Below is a periscope with Val and Ginger…
The poster weirds me out.
As for Ginger Z showing the world that “new mothers can do it all”, I wish celebs wouldn’t go there! On average, they work less than 40 hours per week at their jobs and they earn significantly more. So they can and do have help with a lot of things that other new moms don’t. I do think Ginger (and her baby) are adorable! I wish her fun and luck in her season. I just wish she (and Val) would get off of their soapboxes.
My eyes could clearly be deceiving me, but it appears as if Maks’s image has been shrunken. It looks an image of Maks was shrunken down to where he would be eye-to-eye with an image of Val, and then merged them into a new (not found in nature) image.
Good luck to her. I was a full time working single mom lawyer for years. Traveling coast to coast with an infant on a plane? Nightmare. Once my 2 year old daughter who is a great traveler (slept entire flight from Germany to JFK at 22 months) cried entire 3 hour flight. She’s going to be exhausted working, feeding and traveling coast to coast. And we all know Val’s so sympathetic teaching. I give her 4 weeks at best before she has a melt down. Hope I’m wrong but look how Derek and Nastia said it was exhausting. And Kim Zolzniak had a tough time. And my mom helped and I had a full time nanny. It’s going to be hard for her but good luck!
*meant 12 months from Germany to JFK not 22
What the hell are they trying to go for with that ridiculous poster? If I didn’t know who those two were, I’d think this was some sort of boxing match or wanna-be male model walk off.
Seriously, Val looks like he just stepped on a piece of sharp glass or is suffering the day after effects of eating some ghost chili peppers.
Well, the poster is interesting to say the least
Ginger seems like a sweetheart and I do hope Val makes this season fun for her. They seem to be getting along well so thats nice. This is definitely going to be hard for her being a new mom and all but goodluck to them!
I think you’re right, Suzy. And…yuck.
I agree with you Colleen. And I wish she would be honest about the fact that she VERY likely has full time hired help to care for her baby since she’s not there. It is one thing to stop for 10 mins and pump, but someone else is holding, rocking, diapering, feeding that baby all day/night. I mean, yay great you’re on DWTS but she really isn’t role modeling anything necessarily positive. She’s just doing what she wants. The whole thing is so unreasonable it just doesn’t make a lot of sense in my mind. But do I wish her ill will? Bad dances? No. But like Colleen said, I’ll take a pass on the soapbox too.
LOL to your reactions on the poster!
I think if you’re a mom you know exactly what a 3 months old baby requires. Agree with what everyone said. Well, now that Val know about breast pump to a normal baby I hope he will try to understand it’s a lot harder to take care kids with down syndrome. It takes dedication. And social status plays a part on their health.
On another note, I do think Val enjoys the drama and anything that put him as the center of attention. Last season, for example. This season he already saying Ginger as “mommy,…and soon to be dancer”. Uhm, I thought Ginger was a dancer. No? He takes gratification for everything.
I actually like Ginger but why does she have to be with him? DWTS is getting weird. Bad behavior=gets a reward; A nice pro like Emma=out as a pro.
You’re making a WHOLE LOT of assumptions on someone’s private life, Jamie. She may have some help, but from there you are guessing (and casting aspersions) about everything else. You were the one on the soapbox, actually.
OOh interesting. The first time I ever watched a periscope video. So excited to see them do a samba or cha cha.
Wish we knew all the dances already, but hey, at least we know Ginger and Val are doing a jive, and Sharna and Antonio are doing a quickstep (me thinks so). Not sure.
I think I will leave any comments about Ginger and Val until after the Premier Night Show. However, Ginger does seem like a nice person.
