Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 5 SWITCH UP – Who’s Dancing What…and With WHOM?
Well, it’s time once again for the switch up. We’ll see once again the producers agenda…or will we?? I can’t be bothered to track the voting any more since it hasn’t reflected reality once since they started doing the switch up.
ETA: And our first confirmed switch couple is… 😀 I’m pretty happy with this one – I think they’re gonna work well together. -Court-
ETA2: And it looks like the updates are coming fast & furious – it looks & sounds from Von’s latest Snapchat that he got Lindsay, and source confirms that Wanya got Witney…which means that Peta got Doug and Karina got Antonio. I daresay the only person that probably doesn’t benefit from the switch is Wanya, but thankfully he’s so rad that it likely won’t matter. Antonio’s got a rude awakening coming his way…and I can’t wait to watch 😀
ETA3: Judging from the snazzy hat on the silhouette they showed of Ginger’s partner on GMA, she got Mark. Other couples coming up…-Court-
ETA4: Rest of the couples posted, and Mark says he & Ginger have salsa next week. Thoughts? I’ll be back in a bit, gotta head to work…-Court-
ETA5: Songs posted…today is kicking my ass. -Court-

Woot! This is the only celebrity I care who he gets matched.
I think that pairing should be a lot of fun. My friends all voted for that pairing so I know they are going to be very happy and stop talking about Eurovision now lol.
I was kinda hoping he would get Lindsay, but Sharna also has experience with someone who needs a different style of teaching,s o hopefully this will work.
I think that should be a functional partnership! I hope it works for both involved, but I think Sharna will be excited to do some more intense choreo with someone with a real work ethic.
Von is with Lindsay, according to his Snapchat. I voted for them so I can’t wait to see them together!
Ditto for me, Court. Sharna will be perfect!
On the female celebrities switch-up side, would it be wrong to assume that Sasha/Paige is a pretty good bet since she’s 5’4″ and both Jodie and Ginger are a couple inches taller?
Hope Karina kicks his sorry ass. Glad Doug got Peta, though.
I’m really liking this switch up partners so far. It doesn’t seem like anyone really got a bad switch. I really can’t wait to see how Karina handles Antonio.
And I bet Lindsay will really show how good Von is becoming.
I’m quite excited to see Von and Lindsay together. Even though Witney’s been doing alright with him, it seems like Lindsay is a superior choreographer and teacher. I think she will be able to push him to the next level, and hopefully next week will be a breakout dance for him (like she did last season with Carlos). I’m rooting for him to do well, especially since Courtney revealed that he is really working hard and cares about the competition.
I am glad Karina got Antonio because he needs his butt kicked into gear and Karina comes across as the type that doesn’t put up with crap. Antonio is charismatic and he can obviously move well. HIs jazz wasn’t by any means spectacular but it was respectable given the fact that he learned it in only 10 hours. Im hoping she can get him to shape up!
If anyone can make Antonio work it’s Karina. For once I cant wait for a video lol.
Oh I’m liking these! Sharna will be good with Nyle as Peta (and Maks) will help her with communication. And that’s not a dig at Maks, I do think it helps Nyle see a male perform and they are similar build. Peta will do right by Doug, he’ll have fun but she’s a good teacher. But oh Antonio with Karina!! It’s a dream come true! He’s going to be praying to go back to Sharna after 15 minutes! Can’t wait to see that package!!! I’m good with Wanya and Von switches. THANK YOU all for this info! So appreciate all your hard work and intel.
@Vin That is just what I said! Can’t wait for that vid!
I was really hoping for Wanya & Peta for some reason.
Maybe I like the more unexpected partnerships rather than Witney and Lindsay switching, Mark and Derek switching, Peta and Sharna…
I’m not saying that’s how the switches are every season (because clearly they aren’t), it’s just a hair less refreshing for me whenever it does happen. That’s just my personal taste, BUT nonetheless I’m still excited for these so far. I agree, I’m glad Antonio got Karina.
I’m actually happy that peta is paired with doug. Last season I didn’t like the Maks gave val and bindi a 10 ‘because he can’ even though I love bindi, I didn’t like that. So next week we can hopefully expect Maks not to overscore peta knowing that although doug is extremely loveable he isn’t the most natural dancer and I really doubt peta can get something out of him that Karina couldn’t. I hated the scoring during Disney week and I hope it’s much better next week and I actually enjoyed Maks last season so he should be good !
Lol i cackled when i saw antonio has karina. ? can see her cracking her whip ? and he should feel privileged to dance with a living latin ballroom legend like her!
These are great. I’m loving them all! Perfect!
As a Doug & Karina fan, bit disheartened that Doug got Peta on the night Max is judging. Max will bend-over-backwards to appear impartial & more heavily critique Peta (to no effect to Peta & Nyle, really) while of course overly praise Nyle to ensure Peta stays safely in the game…just my view. Would have preferred Doug w/ Lindsay for her choreography & bc/ I think Doug needs more dance content in his routines to stay in the completion after all of last week’s 6s. Karina paired w/ Nyle would have been more interesting to showcase her talent.
The only other contestant that interests me this season is Paige who has been a great partner w/ Mark. Wanya is a fine dancer & competitive but, to me, he always seems like he is dancing by himself, so whether its Lindsay or Whitney it makes no difference.
Maks will try hard to appear impartial?? Where have YOU been and what have you been drinking, victoria?? 🙂
I was hoping nyle would get karina BUT I think it will be fun for Antonio to have Karina because although she has definitely toned down over the past seasons, he definitely needs someone to whip him into shape (hopefully)
Julz Tocker just discussed Maks scoring Peta. If I heard correctly he has been barred from rehearsals. Didn’t listen twice but it’s in the last 6 or so minutes of Afterbuzz
Hopefully Peta will devote all her time to Doug and not split it between Nyle and Doug. She did a lousy job with Charlie so my expectations are low. I wish it had been with Lindsay, although Vonn lucked out and I like Vonn a lot too. I think Witney will do fine with Wanya. He can handle a lot of choreography so I hope she doesn’t dumb it down.
After the things Maks said against Keo and Paige on All Access last night, he should not be allowed to judge at all.
I’m actually quite pleased with the pairings!
Karina especially will give Antonio a wake up call, and let him know straight up his problems and her problems with him. Can’t wait to watch their package.
It’s good on Sharna’s part too to get someone like Nyle. I feel like Sharna really hasn’t impressed me in any way though part of the reason being no fault of her own, and I think she needs to break out of whatever she’s stuck in right now, and I think teaching Nyle will do that. Also Nyle is a ray of sunshine and Sharna can pick up a few tips from him for Antonio so I think them together will be quite successful as a duo. Is it just me or does Sharna seem a bit “alone” in a sense or distanced from her partner compared to some of the other couples? But then again, her partner only commits 10 hours a week so.. 😐
(I do sort of wish Karina & Nyle were paired but it’s still good, haha).
Interesting tho, how both football players got pros I would consider very strong and most importantly seeks to get the best out of their partners, and will get it from them too. I really hope both have some sort of realization this week with Lindsay and Karina.
@Rose1 or anyone he knows
What did Maks say about Keo & Paige?
@Rose1 How can Peta split her time between Doug and Nyle? She may teach Sharna the signals they use but I’m sure she’ll do her best by Doug. Just as Derek had to “help” Mark learn that Amy needed more stability, but Derek still gave NeNe his attention. In my opinion I don’t think Doug will be shortchanged.
I don’t think Nyle will need Peta. He doesn’t at all seem like a guy that gets thrown by much of anything. He and Sharna will work out whatever they need to.
Ok I bet Kim has keo , ginger has Sasha and we know mark has Jodie and Paige has Val
I’m happy Von got Lindsay. He’s really growing on me and I wanna see him continue to do well. I hope the edit Antonio gets with Karina shows his lack of commitment. Von deserves to stay!
@Suzy. I agree. I think both Nyle and Doug will be fine. Doug is not a great natural dancer but Peta had Tommy and made it fun for him. I’m sure Doug will too. And I’m sure Sharna will be fine with Nyle too.
Could be reading too much into things but Jodie randomly liked an Instagram pic Val posted. She barely likes anything in Insta. I think it’s basically a given she’s paired with him though.
@Richard Maks went on a 10 minute rant regarding Keo’s inability to be an available teacher to Jodie. That he should’ve prepared her for all of the elements of a live show (including the potential to be thrown by the audience). He said that Keo needs to “seriously needs to step the hell up” in regards of both choreography and teaching. He also briefly mentioned Paige’s dance experience. It seemed like a subtle dig. Which was ironic, because he was sitting next to Rumer Willis at the time….
Very excited for all of these pairings! To be honest I wasn’t anticipating the switch up as much this season because it appears as though most pros are harnessing the fullest potential of their partners already and I didn’t know if there would be much more to offer (besides maybe some better choreography in some cases) but I really think Karina might be able to scare Antonio into showing up and really making him commit to the show more. At least I’m hoping so. The only celebrity who may suffer could be whoever Keo has. Wanya is so good already; but the fact that he has to do either a tango or a foxtrot with Witney (who seems to be a lackluster teacher these days) is a little worrisome. I hope he doesn’t backpedal. Von, Nyle, Antonio and hopefully Doug should all see improvement this week. It’ll be interesting to see how the ladies do. I’m especially worried that they’ll partner Kim with Keo. I’m hearing rumors that Mark has Ginger (he’s headed somewhere – via snapchat) and he was originally who I wanted Kim with so hopefully she has Val because he always seems to do very well for his switch up partners and if Kim is middle of the pack with Sash and gets saddled with Keo… elimination could be on the horizon week 6. Paige should be good with anyone. If Ginger has Mark, great. Jodie will be better off with literally anyone else. It’ll be an interesting week! Thanks for all of your intel, you all do such a wonderful job. I’ve been reading for years and don’t pop in to comment much but thought I’d add my thoughts to the situation 🙂
Hmmm, per Mark’s snapchat he’s on a plane…is Ginger his partner and he’s heading to NYC?
@leigh @allison Does Kim train in Atlanta or am I wrong? Maybe Mark could be headed there and not NY? My gut felling is Mark got Ginger because it suits TPTB to give her to the best male pro who will likely give her a great dance.
@Allison. Interesting about Maks. Wonder if it was because Val was on Fuller House & he thought he was getting Jodie. Sad he would do it at all and also because Peta is besties with Keo on tour.
I could totally see Mark paired with Kim. I think that’s a great pairing . As far as Ginger goes, I could care less.
Interesting that Mark says they have a great traditional song for the salsa! It will be interesting to see if others get crappy songs for their dances in order for some agendas to continue to be pushed!
Overall I think everyone fared well with their switch-up partners. The only (2) who I think kind have gotten the short end of the stick is Kim & Wanya. I hesitate to mention Val b/c I’m hoping he will bring the same level of talent out of her as he did with Bindi. Although, that was more Bindi than it was Val’s doing I’m hoping it will go that way. Keo is a wildcard for me and I say short end for Kim because Sasha remains a much stronger partner. I think Wanya will carry his own this week with Witney, I can only hope she dials it back to the season she had with Alfonso because he deserves to have the high scores he’s continuously strive for week in and week out.
Mark with Ginger is indeed an interesting turn of events, TPTB are obviously pimping her again but at least we’ll finally get to see her full potential. I feel really sorry for Kim though, the smallest contestat this season getting the tallest pro.
I’m glad Paige got Sasha, I think they’ll work well together and I think Mark and Sasha share a lot of fans.
Jodie/Val was obvious.
It’s amazing how not invested I am in switch-up week anymore. Probably because I know that no matter what, the producers will put couples together however they want and voting doesn’t matter. Part of me does like the switch-up in theory as it can be exciting to see a certain celeb with a certain pro for just a week to see who really has potential, but overall the show makes it too awkward and dramatic and I just end up feeling bad for everyone hahaha.
Val was really the only option for Jodie as both Mark and Sasha are too short.
I’m excited. Perfect pairings!!
Well my wish of having Paige and Sasha came true and I couldn’t be happier. Either TPTB produced some good pairings or they actually went with the public’s votes this time.
I really want to see an Argentine Tango from Sasha but with Paige really pushing for a Rumba, me thinks that’s what they got.
I cannot wait for Karina to straighten up Antonio. Hope the guy gets the reality check he desperately needs.
Interested to see how Kim changes this week. Keo is a great dancer but I don’t think he brings the best out of his partners. Hopefully Sasha laid down some solid ground work. I may be surprised!
DWTS Stats & Info tweeted that Von and Lindsay have Jive. I’ve been worried about how he’s going to look doing a jive but I know he’s in good hands!
I like all the pairings, though for some I think the dance style they have could make it or break it (namely Doug/Peta as well as Kim/Keo due to height difference. Von/Lindsay Doug/Peta Jodie/Val and Paige/Sasha were the ones I voted for, but I don’t think anyone got worst-case scenario. Von got someone who will match his worth-ethic. Doug got someone who has experience working with more limited contestants. Ginger got someone who will give her good choreography. Jodie got an absolute doll in the judges eyes so even if the choreography isn’t good the scores probably will be. Paige got a fun pro. Kim got someone who will be caring to her. Wanya will have fun this week (not that he hasn’t been before!) and Antonio will be whipped into shape for sure!
And I agree Maks went a bit too far with some of his comments on All Access for someone who is going to be judging these people. The bias is clearly strong in this one. 😛
In Kim’s Quickstep you could see that Sasha is talking her through the routines and Keo rarely does that so she can’t rely on Keo there. With the awkward hight difference I’m curious what dance they got.
Aaaand both Doug and Kim got the styles I don’t think are best suited to their new pairings. 🙁 (Wanted to see Doug/Peta do a Cha Cha and Kim/Keo do a Paso)
Maksimpartial was the most funny thing I’ve heard today…
Guys, I know you’re just trying to help, but please – can you just wait 20 min before posting spoilers in the comments? I was on my way to work and Vogue is busy trying to get the GMA video up. We will get stuff up eventually – but at least give us a buffer!
@ Liz – I’m guessing Maks is not aware of Peta’s bond with Keo, or he simply doesn’t care. I realize the man has no filter, but that was out of bounds IMO even for him. Jodie was filmed saying she wanted Val so I’m sure the Cs were banking on that until tptb threw Ginger into the mix.
I am curious to see what Mark comes up for Ginger, and I am so *not* surprised Val was given Jodie. I don’t think height was a consideration though. Anyone remember Derek and Nene? Lol. I think Jodie is the best dancer on the show this season, with Wanya the best all-around performer, so I do hope she makes a comeback with the DWTS “star pro” this week.
Sasha loves gymnastics so I hope he and Paige get a fun song in which they can incorporate their athletic abilities. I think she has a lot of potential we have yet to see, which brings to mind Derek’s playbook of starting out easy so that there is an arc. That’s what I think Maks and Peta should have done with Nyle. He’s great and clearly leaving the pack behind in public support, but I see no progression. Feel like I’m watching the same week to week, and Tom’s commentary is getting old.
If there is a couple I’m most looking forward to this week, it is Karina and Antonio. He really is very charismatic IMO she oozes charisma so if she can reel him in, and depending on the style they’re given, it could be a pimp spot worthy performance. Fingers crossed because she has been dealt some lousy hands for several seasons now and I would love to see her receive the respect she deserves, even if for one dance.
+1 Court. You don’t know how much I go out of my mind on that issue sometimes…and Heidi does too. Hugss
I am surprised that I am most excited to see Antonio and Karina. I love Karina and Antonia is a much more capable dancer than a lot of her partners. I just hope he will put in the work to do a good job this week. He did look a lot better last week IMO even though he had limited rehearsal time.
Mark and Ginger will be interested as well. She seems like a very capable dancer and with Mark’s choreography I think this pairing will be a treat.
Paige and Sasha will be great together. I do wish they were dancing something other than a rumba. Those dances just don’t seem to go as well for switch up week.
Some thoughts:
Crack the whip Karina! Woohoo!
I hope Peta has a well received dance with Doug, for both their sakes. She hasn’t had the best track record with switch up week. I think she feels she has to throw every trick into a routine in order to make her new partner stand out, when she should just relax and trust her instincts. Just one damn week I’d like Doug to get positive feedback from the judges.
I think Nyle is in very good hands with Sharna. She’ll make him feel comfortable and make him shine on the dance floor.
I don’t get the Kim and Keo pairing. That’s a put a blindfold on, spin yourself around 10 times and fling a dart at the dartboard kind of pairing. My guess is those two wound up with each other after almost all the other couples had been paired. For Kim’s sake, I hope Keo can make it work.
Paige and Sasha is going to be epic. I love Rumba and I love this couple.
I’m happy that Jodie got Val actually. As much as he annoys me, I have to admit that I really like his Pasos. I hope it’s sharp, clean and thrilling and she gets a boost in confidence. I didn’t like seeing that defeated look on her face Monday night.
Am I the only one rolling my eyes at the Jodie/Val pairing? The reason I started liking Jodie and Keo as a partnership so much before the season began was because it was a pairing no one saw coming. At least if Jodie got Mark she could do a visually impressive and memorable Paso; Val’s Pasos all just blend together in my mind.
Also, boo at being robbed of another great Sharna cha-cha.
Well, Maks is nothing if not a hypocrite, since Ginger – his own brother’s partner – was on the Valparaiso dance team. And that dance team is NOT cheerleaders – they have a separate cheer squad. He also should be looking at his brother to DROP the horrible habit that he picked up from Maks himself, which is taking FOREVER to get started with the actual dancing. I get it dude – everyone does it once in a while. But not four weeks (and counting) in a row now.
I get where Maks is coming from re: Keo – and I agree – but I think Keo is getting there. All hope is not lost. So what is Val’s excuse??
Paige and Sasha kind of had to be a pairing by default since she’s billed as being 5’4″ in the UFC and I think both Ginger and Jodie are around 5’7″. Just for appearance-same, Paige and Kim were really the only two female celebs that wouldn’t be a couple inches taller than Sasha.
@PH Other than Stacy Keibler, wasn’t there another celeb that was once on a sports team’s dance team? Was that Melissa? I seem to remember this dance team/cheerleader debate happening before, since being in a squad like the Lakers Girls or the Heat Girls requires you to learn choreo that’s hip-hop-esque.
It’s so easy to get nostalgic and miss Maks a little, and then I get a dose of him and remember why…
Justin, Melissa was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and is trained in ballet.
And the height thing obviously doesn’t play any role as far as Switch Up Pairings go – NeNe is quite a bit taller than Derek (S18) and Kim is way too small to normally be a good partner for Keo, the tallest pro.
Jess (the old lady one), agreed! Just when I find myself getting a tad nostalgic for Maks and thinking/hoping he’s been cured of his foot in mouth disease, he says something that reminds me why I am glad he’s gone (not that he’s ever really went away, LOL)! Should we take bets on what score he gives Val & Jodie? Regardless of performance, I expect a 10 “because I can” (a la Bindi).
With the NeNe/Derek pairing height was less of a problem since they had Jazz and could pretty much do whatever they wanted. Whereas this season all the switch-up styles are ballroom or Latin so a height difference could be more of a hindrance.
But they still went with Kim/Keo and Keo is 1 foot 2 inches taller than Kim so I doubt the couple of inches Ginger has on Sasha were the reason they weren’t paired together.
On the Maks on All Access calling out Keo, he also called out Tony, Val, and Sasha. His point with all of them was that their partners were middle of the road, not standing out. He felt they needed to be pushed and could handle it. IMO, he was not rude and had nice things to say about all of them and their dances.
In regards to Keo, he felt Keo was also at a disadvantage because he had not been this far in the competition before. He talked a lot about laying a foundation in the early weeks and then just start throwing everything you have built on into the dances to their partners ability as you get into the latter weeks. Maks also called Keo a friend and was concerned for his lack of experience, but was also called Jodi a great partner for him. He was happy for Keo yet concerned at the same time.
I felt he had a lot of great insite. He talked a bit a bit about himself and how he did not appreciate what he had when he was on the show. I did not find him rude or putting his foot in his mouth. To me, he was 100% better than Louis last week. I recommend giving it a listen if it’s posted on YouTube somewhere.
Hmmm…Methinks that Mark getting Ginger is bad news for Val. Seriously, the dude is on a choreographic streak that will benefit Ginger, but Val? Not so much.
DLT – NO ONE is too short for the switch up. We’ve been saying for week now that people need to get over the height differences, particularly when it’s for one lousy week. Derek handled NeNe just fine. Mark would have been perfectly fine with Jodie.
Derek threw out that playbook quite a while ago, Rose1 – he said so himself.
Jodie is NOT the best dancer on the show – that would be Paige/Wanya/Nyle and I don’t even think that’s subjective at this point. And I’ve clearly got no dog in the hunt.
OMG Kim and Keo have Jennifer/Derek’s VW song from Dirty Dancing…
Again, Justin, height should not (and hasn’t been in the past) a factor. Again – see Derek and NeNe.
Melissa was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader – which is really a dance team when you get right down to it.
You know I saw that AA and what Maks was saying about Keo was that he needs to step up because he hasn’t been this far in the competition and needs to figure out what’s expected now in order to help Jodi. What wrong with that? He also talked to him in the post show and said he was glad to hear that Keo himself said he needs to work his skills,. Then the old bro hug and I love you man stuff. Doesnt look like hard feelings to me, except to Keo fans or to those who don’t like Maks,
I for one was glad to hear the remarks. I’m tired of “well her costume is lovely” ” you can tell she have everything she had” or “that was fun”” What wrong with “Tony needs to give her more complicated moves” or “Keo it’s week 4 and step the hell up” and “Val’s dances need more content”? I’ve been around here long enough now to know how people feel about Val and Maks, but he did have some really great and positive things to say too.
i don’t have a favorite pro, but pick partnerships so I’m glad Nyle has the Waltz so Sharna can hold him the whole time. I saw a package of Peta and Nyle and she was helping him count out the Waltz (maybe the Viennese waltz) but that was a couple of weeks ago. Just as long as it wasnt Witney! I’m glad Ginger got Mark because he’s going to pack her routine with all kinds of content. I love Karina and maybe she can Get Antonio to put in more effort.
I’m confused. Giving Bindi a 10 was a bad thing for Maks to do?
@PH I thought it was Melissa. I just couldn’t remember who it was with. But, yes, most NFL cheerleading squads aren’t really cheerleaders.
Watching Maks on All-Access made me realize how much more I enjoy DWTS now that he isn’t on. :))
Out of all of the songs this week I only know Hold Back the River and Perfect… And I always thought Perfect would’ve been better suited for a Foxtrot rather than a Rumba.
Jill L,
giving Bindi a 10 wasn’t a bad thing for Maks to do but the way he prefaced it with “Because I can” and the fact the he scored her higher than all the other judges made it seem like he was doing it to reward Val’s “amazing job” rather than Bindi’s. (When Maks was judging Amber/Derek’s Jazz in S17 he was the only one who gave her a 9 even though everyone else including Len gave her a 10)
Bia, watch Jennifer/Derek’s Viennese Waltz if you want to get familiar with Kim/Keo’s VW song.
The Arms Of Mine is such a beautifully lush song. Gorgeous pick.
Is it bad that I don’t know 80% of these songs? Am I officially over the hill?
Thanks Geri! That was my point about Maks giving Bindi a 10; I loved Bindi but when he made the remark “because I can” it aggravated me to no end and called into question his ability to remain at all impartial as a judge on the show. If he had said nothing and given the 10 it might have been different, but when it’s his brother it looks a little fishy IMO.
Liz – I listened to AB as well and made sure to listen the part about Maks twice, Peta is not just letting him look at anything – he’s not being locked out the building,! She doesn’t want him to see anything before the show. Nothing wrong with that……
Geri – Well I happen to think that Val did a great job with Bindi I loved that cha cha and thought they were cute together.
Big picture: Maks’ score didn’t impact anything – Amber and Bindi both champions.
Yes, #Susan2, and Welcome!! It’s been so lonely here ‘beyond the mound.’ I myself am at 90%, but don’t worry — it’s all downhill from here. Whee!! lol
Slightly off topic but has it been confirmed that there will be no elimination this week or is it still just an assumption based on past Switch-Up weeks?
Saying that it “didn’t impact anything” is BEYOND missing the point, Jill. I mean I think Geri and Leigh very clearly articulated their issue with it (with Amber as supporting documentation) and you just shrugging it off is rather telling.
I’d hoped Nyle would go to Karina or Lindsay, though Sharna has shown she can be an apt partner and choreographer, plus her connection with Peta can only be a plus to help them navigate the week. And who knows, maybe his goofballedness will bring out a Sharna’s more side.
Wanya is good enough to be universally paired and I’m betting Witney will take a more Alfonzo approach to him to redeem her switch up self and keep her close clum’s momentum.
Paige is also another that could work well with anyone, but I’m really liking her with Sasha, though if we only get to see one do dance from them, Rumba wouldn’t be my first choice despite being on of my faves.
It’d be nice to see Mark fully utilize Ginger. While he has it over Val in choreography, Val has it over Keo and that combined with one of an impactful, intesense dance that is one of his strongest and some knowledge of Jodie already, I could see her being a standout this week.
I don’t know that Karina is much more of a whipcracker than Sharna, but I think she has more light and shade to her personality, so maybe Antonio will respond more to a more fun, diverse approach. But hey, if he truly lacks application, that’s not on any pro.
Von comes out ahead while I fear Doug and Kim the worst off and likely to be the next two eliminations.
With these pairings, the only celeb I’m concerned with is Kim since she doesn’t have the experience to compensate for a greener pro, and I’d say she’s a very likely candidate for elimination so having good scores and a great showing was really important.
Everyone else it seems to be either a wash or really great in their favor. Ginger, Antonio, and Von, and Jodie being the ones that really hit the jackpot in terms of boosting their potential.
Wanya is talented and disciplined enough that I don’t worry about him with Witney, and everyone else should be just fine.
I’m so excited Paige got Sasha. In mine opinion he reminds me the most of Derek. This rumba is going to be awesome maybe worthy of tens
@Maddie I agree, and her song is a good song for rumba also. I know Sasha being the sweet guy he is is going to do the dance justice and not let Mark or Paige down.
I’m praying to the choreography gods that Mark comes up with a kickass, amazing salsa for Ginger.
Never thought I would say this but I only like 3 of the songs (wanya, Kim, and Jodie). The rest just kinda don’t do anything for me but I know the pros can make a great routine out of them for sure.
I think Val and Paige would make a dynamic dance team, they are both powerhouses (two excellent dancers!!!
I agree Figamentation. I adore both Kim and Sasha and I feel like they took everyone into consideration with these pairings EXCEPT Kim.
I’m thrilled that Paige and Sasha will be together. She’s a good dancer and improving every week. Paige and Sasha share high energy and athleticism so I’m very interested in what they come up with. Rumba wouldn’t have been my choice for them but Paige isn’t in danger of going home and she’s already shown that she CAN switch partners even on short notice.
While Keo has been better this season, there are still obvious problems with him as a pro, despite his 3 previous tries at it. This season, he’s been paired with a ringer so Keo has a pupil who gets it quickly. But Kim Fields is no ringer. Lovely woman that she is, she’s in danger of imminent elimination and IMO pairing her with Keo increases the danger.
The others who would likely be in danger, Doug and maybe Jodie, are likely to fare the same or better with their switch up partners.
Maybe I’m shrugging it off because I didn’t have horse I the race.
I don’t fan girl pros, nor am I emotional invested. It’s just a show to me.
People complaining about Maks finding bindi a 10 say a lot to me as well.
Wow, I admit i actually like these pairings.
Antonio & Karina: I hope she irons him out so much that people will remember how amazing she is.
Ginger & Mark: Looking forward to this. Love Mark and I know he will bring out the best in her. Maybe she will also know how it feels to dance a full routine finally lol
Jodie & Val: As much as Val is annoying sometimes, I have to admit I love his Pasos & Rumbas and he has a pretty good switch up record. I love Jodie and I want her to do well plus they’re already friends so they should work well together. But please Val, don’t waste time in the beginning. Hope they kill it.
Kim & Keo: The height thing bothers me just cause its an actual ballroom dance that they have to be in hold. I remember Julz saying on afterbuzz last season how Keo and Chaka were struggling with frame with their foxtrot in rehearsal cause of the height difference. At least with past switch up couples with questionable height differences, the didnt have to be in hold.Hope they do well too.
I think everyone else should be fine. Would have been concerned for Wanya but I think he will be fine no matter what.
My thoughts:
Keo and Kim- I think this will be adorable! Okay she’s short and people keep bringing up Keo and Chaka, but she also wouldn’t wear heels. Height doesn’t matter!
Ginger and Mark- She’s in for a rude awakening. I think once she sees what dancing for a full routine feels like, she may have some thoughts when she gets back to Val.
Paige and Sasha- Okay! They’re energy is perfectly matched! Can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Antonio and Karina- Oh boy. That’s it.
Nyle and Sharna- My goddess paired with one of my favorite contestants. Yay!
Wanya and Witney- Dang it. She had better bring it like she did with Alfonso.
Doug and Peta- I’m sensing a Tommy and Peta vibe from this. I think they’ll be great!
Von and Lindsay- I like this! She’ll be able to bring more out of him, also giving Witney more of an opportunity to step it up.
Jodie and Val- Meh. I love Jodie, but Val is getting on my nerves this season. He better choreograph the heck outta that Paso.
Overall I’m very satisfied with these pairings. I assumed Lindsay and Witney would simply trade partners so given that, everything else makes sense. I got my number 1 wish which was Ginger/Mark, hopefully Mark brings it as he has all season and we get to see what Ginger can really do. I’m optimistic for Kim/Keo, it does look like they sort of got paired together by default but I think they’ll do fine. Finally, I’m interested to see what Antonio/Karina will look like but wouldn’t it have been fun if Cheryl was still around to whip him into shape?
I should have been more specific when I asked for guest judges that were “dance authorities”, completely forgot this would include Maks. I think another posted suggested Maks will try to be as impartial as possible. I’ve got three words for you in response, “Because I can”.
Finally, I don’t watch All Access but LOL at Maks calling any celeb out for previous dance experience when he won with one of the biggest ringers in the entire history of the show.
It says you don’t listen to rational explanations of why people feel the way they do, Jill. But, no surprise there.
I wonder if the reason we saw some undeservedly high scores this past week has to do in part with shielding certain pros (Val) from being upstaged in the switchup?? After all, there’s no shame in doing less well in the switch cuz it’s hard. But if you do significantly BETTER? That could be a blow. 🙂
I kind of wish DWTS would do away with guest judges except for the rare occasions that the guest judge is a big get.
At no point during all my many years of DWTS watching have I ever thought “gee what I really want is more commentary from the judges.” If I’m clamoring for anything, it’s longer dances or rehearsal packages.
The show shouldn’t be about the judges. So, in my mind, the best guest judges I find inoffensive. Every once in a while a guest judge will pull out a critique I’ve been thinking but none of the other judges would say (I’m thinking of Alfonso talking about Carlos last year). But for the most part, at best guest judges are inoffensive and at worst super annoying. Maks definitely falls more on the annoying side of things. Not expecting much out of him, and I really wish he hadn’t been asked.
As for the switch up, I’m super excited for Nyle and Sharna (hopefully we’ll see some of that Sharna magic from seasons past), Ginger and Mark (excited to see what Ginger can do with better choreo), Paige and Sasha (they’re both just so likable), Antonio and Karina (hope she cracks the whip), Von and Lindsay (I think the two of them will be awesome together).
And now looking at it, I listed out almost all of the pairs. I’m definitely happy with the switch up pairings this year.
PH – You’ve got me beat there! Even I’m not going so far as to think that the praise and high scores for Ginger and Val this week are because otherwise he might be shown up in the switch up week!
Frankly, whether it’s because of a notation from the producers or just taste, Len has always seemed to view Val rather favorably to me. While Len makes out that he was Derek in his younger years, I doubt it. I expect Len was more like Val. Someone who understood the rules and attitudes of Ballroom dance competition and how to win. And I expect Len can and did choreograph dances using the syllabus steps but without the special spark of creativity that Derek and Mark have. And I think that’s why Len is often hard on Derek and Mark, especially when they create mind blowing, creative “ballroom or Latin” dances for DWTS. And Len insinuates that they are breaking the rules when as far as I’ve seen, ABC has never posted any!
Plus, Ginger was said to be unhappy about her Week 3 scores. She supposedly thought she was underscored. I can totally see a word about that thrown out within the judges hearing somewhere in the week between. Obviously, ABC is very invested in Ginger’s journey and want her to stick around longer so I was more shocked at her Week 3 scores than her score for Disney week. Ginger was Belle, a very popular character and they basically recreated the beloved movie scene for her. I did think there was hyperbole in the comments but there often is from Len to Val. And he’s with the ABC Princess this season.
@JillL I don’t even remember what I said. I was just commenting that Julz said something on AB about it. Honestly it didn’t interest me enough to relisten. IMO TPTB have their switch up agenda and the judges will carry it out. I do think overall TPTB had an agenda this season and Wanya, Nyle and Paige blew that out of the water a la Bindi last season.
Like Heidi mentioned here, I also think it’s possible they gave some of the contestants really questionable scores this week due to the upcoming switch-up. Unless something unexpected happens, I can see Mark and Ginger killing their Salsa next Monday and we’ll see another stellar choreo and hopefully really high scores, which wouldn’t be very flattering for their precious Val if they hadn’t been scored so undeservedly high (IMO) this week. I also BET the judges (Maks for sure) will praise him and Jodie to high heaven no matter how good they’ll be and she will receive her highest scored of the season. Kinda the situation ala Derek and Alexa last season BUT Derek actually killed the choreo and really worked on Alexa’s confidence and they absolutely deserved it, which I’m not sure will be Val’s case, although maybe he proves me wrong. Anyways, I didn’t like the whole situation even with Derek because I felt really bad for Mark, especially because how he was portrayed in their package. Hope they don’t do the same to Keo this time.
It was just a random thought, Colleen – about Val and Ginger.
Len is hard on Derek because Len ADORES Derek – our source and others have said that more than once. It’s kinda how I expect Shirley Ballas would judge both Mark and Derek – much harder than anyone else would because that’s how you sometimes are on your “kids” because you want them to do well. And you don’t want people to think you’re biased in their favor. Len also goes to Derek after dances that he’s ripped and gushed about how much he loved the dance and how wonderful it was.
You could be right about instruction to Len to lighten up on Ginger. What has struck me a couple weeks in a row now is both Len and (to a lesser extent) Bruno commenting on “recognizable steps” in the dances. What is with that? Are they compensating for Val’s LACK of content in the opening of all his dances by saying that he has a lot of recognizable steps. They’ve said it to Val more than once and one other pro who I can’t remember right now.
I feel that Jodie can’t really go anywhere but up no matter who she was partnered with. She couldn’t hear the music and flubbed the choreo a bit in the middle. Her scores were unfortunate, but fair. She should only improve, even if she was with Keo this week (no switch up.) I hope the judges praise her if she is successful. She seems kind of fragile.
As for the rest of the pairings, I’m looking forward to them. I always like seeing who can adapt and who can’t. It should be an interesting night of dancing.
PH – Len also made the “recognizable steps” comment to Keo on Latin Night and I think maybe others too.
JD – Yeah that’s how I feel too. Reminds me of Alexa’s thing last season where she flubbed the week before the swap and so she really had nowhere to go but up either. Both lucky to get a (hopefully) non-elimination week to bump up scores.
Lucie – I agree Ginger is probably going to kill it next week, as will Jodie. I think Paige and Wanya will do really well too. And I also hope that no pro ends up looking bad in any of the packages unless it’s strongly warranted.
Hmm… “Hold Back the River” for a tango. I wonder what route Witney will go. The meter of the song doesn’t quite fit a tango, but it could be adaptable depending on the section you use. I think someone on SCD did it recently, and some parts worked and some didn’t.
I love Son of a Preacher Man, which will obviously be a remix to fit in the cha cha. And can I say, so excited for nyle and sharna – they’re song is soo beautiful and is the song that I was wanted to play when i get married, it’s gorgeous. Love Jodie and Val’s song too, because I mean, Calvin Harris.
The funny thing is CAI said on her blog that Paige was the one to beat. Maybe they will stop pimping Ginger
The “recognizable steps” comment is always funny to me like saying “your Cha Cha kinda looked like a Cha Cha”.
It’s awesome that Antonio is dancing to the same music “Son of a Preacher Man” that Emmitt Smith danced “Cha-Cha” to with Cheryl. I think that was when CA called him “twinkle toes.
Hmm.. Paige tweeted Zayn Malik that she’s dancing to his song on Monday night. Interesting because that song (“Perfect”) is not his nor is he even a part of it.
I’m guessing maybe they switched her and Sasha’s song to possibly “Pillowtalk” by Zayn. That or Paige isn’t in with the times and doesn’t know Zayn is no longer part of One Direction. Hahaha..
Since Maks has been helping Peta with Nyle, Emma could theoretically help Keo with Kim (or help Kim with Keo)…
@CC, it’s a possibility Paige’s song got changed. In her tweet she said “love your voice” so it must be his solo which is pillow talk cause if it was the 1D song I don’t think you could tell whose voice is whose unless you’re a die hard fan girl. Lol
@Maddie: Or the judges are trying to make viewers think Paige is safe and not vote for her…ultimately building up for a shock elinination before the semi finals, which would be devastating in my opinion. I remember Bruno saying “I think you got a winner on your hands” or something along those lines.
I really hope Karina whips Antonio into shape.I feel like he’s more obsessed with his snapchat performance than his DWTS performance. Enough is enough. I was pounding hard on Sharna’s choreo, but even when he performs he seems out of it. Drink some caffeine, 5-hour, red bull, SOMETHING.
I don’t see Paige and Sasha getting a better score than last week and can see the judges kinda of criticizing their connection and her arm extension to make herself look taller and fill up more space around her, since she’s a tiny little firecracker.
I’m happy Ginger and Mark got a salsa because Mark is Salsa King to me. But, I can see Len docking points for too much hanky panky. I don’t think Mark’s gonna do crazy lifts with Ginger, much more booty shaking…more like an Ally and Mark salsa (week 7 season 16).
Looking forward to:
Doug and Peta
(Love that song and hoping Peta does some cool choreo)
Antonio and Karina
(crack that whip Karina and produce them results)
Ginger and Mark
(I wanna see a diff. side to her…no more sweet smiley butterfly cupcakes)
TPTB are smart to pair Ginger with Mark, I’m sure it’ll guarantee her safety in my opinion. Also, switching Linds and Witney shouldn’t really ruffle too many feathers and keep Wanye and Von both safe.
Victims of the switchup: Kim and Sasha (at least for me…even though I love them)
From looking at Antonio’s snapchat it looks like Karina already is pushing him harder than Sharna. Sorry to say but Sharna has bored me this season personality wise. And I get the feeling that she keeps thinking about winning the mirrorball too much and is not making it fun for Antonio. Had she won with Nick last season she would’ve loosened up a bit this season. Karina and Antonio seem to be having a little bit of fun judging from their twitter and snap. I think working with Karina will benefit Antonio she’s a dance legend and can probably get him to commit more.
Well, I can live with these switch-up pairings. Not getting invested in who got whom was definitely the way for me to go. I actually think most of these pairings will be good. Now I just hope TPTB lay off the manipulation on Monday because switch-up couples are a bit emotionally fragile.
I’m really pleased Doug got Peta. I think she has a genuinely kind heart and a lot of patience. Tango is also a good dance choice for them because it suits Peta’s rather staccato style of choreography and she’ll be able to keep Doug in hold.
The only couple I’m worried about is Kim and Keo especially doing a Viennese Waltz. Sure, Von and Witney just did a VWaltz and they also have a big height disparity, but they’ve been practicing together since preseason so have had time to adjust. Oh well, I hope Keo exceeds my expectations because I think Kim is such a sweet and happy soul and I want to keep her (and Sasha) around.
Bree, I do agree with you. If Sharna and Antonio had more fun and genuinly enojyed the process, formed a real relationship, and cared more about the journey rather than scores for a win, then it would benefit them both and come off as real to viewers, in my opinion at least.
Idk, maybe he is getting those votes, but I would rather see him be elminated as a shocker more than any other couple.
I remember every dance of Hines and Kym, not because of the amazing choreo, but because every time they danced it made me feel good and forget about anything else aka real life problems. Their cha cha (I believe week 1) grabbed my attention right away and Hines genuinly seemed like he was having fun, with his cute mom rooting him on. I miss their paso doble to “Explosive.”
I’m starting to think that even if Sharna had an amazing ghost choreo come in or if she just danced around him the whole time…it still wouldn’t work for me if he isn’t 100% committed. Also, please get the plastered smile off your face…its nice when its called for…blah. rant ending lol
EmnEm I wouldn’t mind either if they were a shock elimination. I think it was the Disney week rehearsal I was watching one of Antonios snap where he and Sharna were practicing and he looked annoyed like thinking to himself what have I got myself into. At this point you can tell from his snaps his family, Football training and hanging with his best friend is above dwts practice. Not that it’s anything wrong with his priorities it got him into the NFL, but he would be really good at dancing if he was committed.
I have never posted on this website before but have been msg board homeless since abc took theirs down. I am also excited about this season especially Nyle and Paige who are my favorites at this point. I am excited about seeing Maks back to judge next week. I miss him as a pro but I’ll take him any way I can get him!
Hey. Is anyone can tell me how voting is working. If switch up week there is no elimination, judges marks from this week and voting numbers from Disney night and switch up week will be combined and transferred to week 6 and add up to a judges marks for week 6?
dance4life #116 In the past the judges scores and viewer votes from Disney Week (Week 4) and the Switch Up (Week 5) have been combined. Most likely NO ONE will be sent home Monday and the elimination will resume in Week 6. For more information take a look at Heidi’s Week 4 Dancing By The Numbers post.
dance4life
Judges marks and voting numbers from Disney Week (week 4) and Switch Up Week (week 5) are combined and determine who’s eliminated in week 6. Judges marks and viewer votes from week 6 determine who’s eliminated in week 7. That’s how it was in the past.
Really hope Karina gets Antonio to fully go for it and perform and was tough on him during rehearsals. Would love to see that in the package.
Also, I hope Ginger doesn’t underperform with Mark so that we could see Mark’s Magic at work.
Who else is pumped for tonight?!!!
Is it bad that I’m kinda looking forward to tonight? I’m looking forward to Paige and Sasha’s rumba. It looks steamy and looking forward to see how Ginger handles Mark’s choreography. I’m overall pleased with the switch pairings this season.
I’m hoping Mark gives Ginger some challenging and creative choreography. It’ll also be nice to see her dancing right out of the gate rather than spending 30 or 40 seconds sitting on a bench or greeting townspeople.
I am really excited!!! About these pairings, I mean like OMG this is going to be so fricken cool.
Antonio with Karina – If I may be so bold to go against the crowd I don’t think that Karina is going to lose it on Antonio as much as everyone thinks. I think that she will DEFINETLY be a MAJOR change from Sharna as it seems to me like Sharna kind of lets Antonio get away with whatever. I think Karina will be a bit more grounded and stricter but not so much mean and ‘crack the whip’. I still think it will be entertaining though.
Doug and Peta – Peta’s history with the switch up does NOT bode well for her. But honestly it’s not like Doug has a lot to lose so I don’t think that this pairing is going to be that bad. I mean T-Chong kicked ASS and defied expectations in his season with Peta and Doug seems to be in a similar boat “Not technically gifted but puts in hard work and wants to be there”. So this COULD be a turning point for Peta.
Paige and Sasha – OMG THE CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!!!! I think these two are going to be SOOOOO CUTE!!!!! I think Sasha is going to bring out the inner child out of Paige and its going to be nonstop giggles. I think these two were a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN. I really am looking forward to their Rumba. Oh and their rehearsal video. hehehe
Wanya and Witney – I wouldn’t go so far to say I’m a Witney fan since she hasn’t impressed me since Alfonso and from what I have heard even she had a little help. However, I think Wanya is in a league of his own so even if Witney shows up and just DOES NOTHING I don’t think it will hinder him in the viewers eyes. Maksim has reamed her for being untraditional last season so hopefully she can choreograph a descent Tango. Only time will tell.
Von and Lindsay – Lindsay showed up Witney last season and I am pretty sure she is going to do it again. Witney is losing steam and Lindsay is SPARKLING. I think it might be easier the height difference since Lindsay is about 3 or 4 inches taller than Witney. However, it’s the Jive so its probably not going to affect them (wish they would have gotten a Ballroom dance it would have killed two birds with one stone). I am actually looking forward to watching Von this time.
Ginger and Mark – I am sort of scratching my head at this one. I really don’t see how they are going to mold. On one hand, like, I see Mark choreographing an AWESOME fun and flirty Salsa that might make Ginger come out of her shell and make her SELL IT. Or it could overwhelm her and she could get knocked off her pedestal that everyone has her on. I don’t know what to make of these two and that excites me.
Jodie and Val – Ladies and gentlemen, this was the couple that SHOULD have been and everyone knows it. With Jodie’s experience in dance and Val’s history with doing well with former dancers (Elizabeth Berkley, Danica McKeller, Zendaya, etc.) and of course Maks is there, I think these two might be the higher end of the leaderboard and I think Val is really going to show Jodie’s potential and show up Keo.
Kim and Keo – Paige is the dark horse, Ginger is TBTP’s darling, and Jodie has the experience, so Kim is sort of the expendable one (sorry 🙁 ) I think they saddled her with Keo with the mindset of “Keo is still in the comp and Kim is NOT going to be a finalist so it’s whatever”. I think these two will get lost in the shuffle and Keo probably won’t do her any favors. However, his choreography might be simple enough for Kim to get so she could shine but I’m not holding my breath.
Nyle and Sharna – Nyle is very good in Ballroom so I am excited that with a dance with such a consistent beat it might be easier for him to dance this dance well. He also has Sharna and this girl has earned respect with her former dance partners (Andy Dick, Noah Galloway, heck I even respect her for putting up with Nick Carter (bless his heart)). So I really think that since Sharna and Peta are pretty much cut from the same cloth it won’t be to much for poor Nyle.
Witney hasn’t had a Tango since Cody. Looking forward to what she pulls off for tonight.
No, Lane, “everyone” doesn’t know any such thing about Jodie and Val. I don’t think Jodie would be any better off with Val than she is with Keo – in fact, she might be worse off. IF Val shows up Keo after his abject failure with Ginger (also a dancer – more of one than Jodie, possibly) all season, well, that will tell a story of it’s own and it won’t be a good one.
I also don’t agree that Sharna and Peta are cut from the same cloth. AT all. Peta’s not so full of herself these days and is really impressing me with Nyle.
Yeah, Lane – I think you might find yourself a tad disappointed with your dream couple, Jodie & Val, after tonight.
OMG!!!!! This is like so totally AWESOME!! I got a reply from Princess Heidi AND Courtney. Thank you guys so much for reply to my comment. I totally love you guys and everything you write about.
Honestly, I’m not one of the ‘insiders’ so I don’t really know very much so I hope that you can forgive my ‘ignorance’ and not mistake it for ‘arrogance’. It’s like so totally hard to tell emotions on text.
So when Val was on Fuller House I think I heard that A LOT of people were wanting Jodie to get Val. I just felt I would go off that. I just think that Val is a stronger pro than Keo is given their track records and history. I mean I know that Val’s ‘stop and go’ choreography is pretty one note and not really popular here but I don’t really mind it. But I felt that given Jodie’s experience in dance and her Tango in week 1 which I found to be really cool the Paso should suit her good and Val does pretty nice Paso’s (Kelly Monaco’s comes to mind). Now I’m not an insider you guys are so you guys know pretty much, like, EVERYTHING, I’m just someone who really loves dance. As for Ginger, I really don’t think she is as technically talented as a lot of people think she is, she isn’t an actress nor does she have any experience with choreography and I think that splitting time between being a new mom and dancing is hardcore on her (Bless her heart). Val has had A LOT of people who know how to channel emotions (Kelly, Janel, Zendaya, Rumer, Elizabeth, Sherri, and Danica) I mean they are ALL actresses so teaching Ginger might be really unknown territory.
As for Sharna and Peta, the reason I think they are cut from the same cloth is because they have similar teaching styles. They both have had to utilize ‘outside the box’ teaching in order for their celebs to shine, “Andy, Tommy, Noah, and Now Nyle” (Natalie Lowe on Strictly won the ‘People’s Strictly’ when she partnered an English Vet who had a prosthetic leg, it must be something in the water with the Aussies).” I also don’t think Sharna’s full of herself, an inflated sense of confidence yes, but not full of herself. I mean OF COURSE Peta will always be Nyle’s number one because she is his partner but I don’t count Sharna out.
Thanks so much girls for the replies i really hope we can chat some more. 🙂
Lane, Ginger was on her college dance team. She likely has MORE experience than Jodie does. As for her not being “technically as talented” as Jodie – how would we know since Val hasn’t really choreographed much for her at this point. I see Jodie and Ginger as pretty much equal at this point – neither has done anything fantastic, neither has been horrible – BOTH have dance experience.
We can chat more, Lane, if you actually read what I wrote the first time when I told you that Ginger had dance experience. This is NOT gossip or rumor, but FACT. She was on Valparaiso’s dance team and it’s published on her own facebook. As for Sharna versus Peta – that’s your opinion, not mine. And what is “full of herself” if NOT an “inflated sense of confidence,” eh? Seem to be one in the same to me.
I am starting to think that I have upset you. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to offend you. I was just putting my opinion and defended it.
I didn’t say that Ginger didn’t have any dance experience (I did read what you posted) I just pointed out that she isn’t an actress nor does she have experience with choreography (Dance/Drill team relates TO ME more towards Tumbling and Cheerleading than it does to dance such as: Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, and Ballroom). Now i know that Melissa was on a dance team but that was Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, considered ONE OF THE BEST cheerleading squads in the NFL. You have to be THE BEST OF THE BEST to make that team. I just see Jodie and I think so much untapped potential. Her arms, her legs, she is in control of her body, she acts her dances well. I just personally think she has more potential than Ginger does, but that is only MY opinion.
I do apologize if I have upset you, that was not my intention I just enjoy chatting with everyone and finding people who have different opinions from my own and having a good old-fashioned respectful debate. It’s really cool finding something like that especially with people who love DWTS just as much as I do. Now if only we could have one for Strictly Come Dancing. Oh that would be a joy.
No Lane, you didn’t offend me – but someone jumping in and commenting without having read the whole season is annoying I will admit. IF you had been reading all the post/comments you would know that Ginger’s dance team is a true dance team, and OF COURSE there is choreography. It is a DANCE team. There is a separate cheerleading team at that school, which Ginger wasn’t on. This would put her close to Melissa, only MORE dance related. Not cheerleading, DANCING. If you think that Jodie has more untapped potential there is only one place to look to lay blame – Val.
