PureDWTS Season 22 Week 4 – Media, Scores, And Interview Round-up After Dance Night

Well, I wasn’t sure I’d like Disney night, but, I thought all the couples really stepped it up and there were a lot of surprises (Goodness, Nyle and Peta! Did I really see that? 😯 ). However, I was sad on Marla Maples being eliminated. What a beautiful dance. In fact, ALL of her dances have been beautiful. She carried herself with such class, elegance, and beauty that I’ll never forget. She also ended up being my favorite Tony Dovolani partner. I also loved this quote after their elimination. #AwwwMoment From ABC:

In spite of the elimination, Marla said she enjoyed the experience.

“We have had so much fun. Don’t let those tears fool you,” she said, referring to her reaction after earning a score of 21 for her jive last week. She clarified those were “happy tears.”

So, let’s move on the scores of the night. I’m loving how tight this competition is this season.:

Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas (Quickstep) 9-9-9-9 for a Total of 36
Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy (Foxtrot) 9-9-9-9 for a Total of 36
Antonio Brown & Sharna Burgess (Jazz) 9-8-9-9 for a Total of 35
Wanya Morris & Lindsay Arnold (Samba) 8-9-9-9 for a Total of 35
Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd (Samba) 8-8-9-9 for a Total of 34
Von Miller & Witney Carson (Viennese Waltz) 8-8-8-8 for a Total of 32
Kim Fields & Sasha Farber (Quickstep) 8-8-8-8 for a Total of 32
Marla Maples & Tony Dovolani (Waltz) 7-7-7-7 for a Total of 28 (eliminated)
Jodie Sweetin & Keo Motsepe (Cha Cha) 7-6-7-7 for a Total of 27

Disney night shouldn’t have been like this. Backstage at Dancing With the Stars, a stunned and speechless Tony Dovolani let partner Marla Maples do the talking, while they both were coming to grips with their week four elimination. It was uncharacteristic of the all-stars season champ, which also reiterated just how much faith he had in his partner and their ability to stay in the competition. “I’m in shock,” confided Dovolani. “I don’t have much to say.” Although Maples was doing most of the talking, she was extremely quiet as she prepared to head out on the red-eye to New York City. “I’m sad. I’m not going to lie,” she told Glamour. “I’m very sad. This has been the most incredible experience working with Tony.”

Front runners Lindsay Arnold and Wanya Morris were equally surprised by Maples’ elimination. “I’m suprised by anyone [going home] at this moment,” acknowledged Arnold. “This is the first season where I genuinely don’t know who is going to be in the finals. Most seasons I’m like, ‘That’s a no brainer,’ but there are a lot of good people, and it’s changing every single week. Everybody is getting better.”

Speaking of getting better, Sharna Burgess was stunned with her first nine of the season, thanks to an inspired Aladdin performance with partner Antonio Brown. “He was outstanding!” she beamed backstage. “Jumping from a six [last week] to a nine! That’s a big jump!” Part of the reason why Burgess was so shocked (she laughed hysterically when we commented on her facial expression during the judges’ scores) was that she didn’t even have much time with Brown to rehearse this week: “We didn’t see the troupe until yesterday’s camera blocking. I had to create this piece without bodies in front of me. We were in two different cities this week. This came together yesterday, and it’s a testament to Antonio.”

With switch-up week on the horizon, who does Burgess think her partner will work with best? “I want Peta for Antonio,” she admitted. “Not just because she’s family to me, but I love her as a teacher. She already took a football player to a Mirrorball (Donald Driver). [Plus], I consult her every week. She already knows a lot about Antonio and how he works. I think she would be a very firm, great teacher for him that’s creative and very good at explaining things in a way that he’ll understand it.”

: FOX411 interviewed the couples. Below is a take from the link. Be sure to read their full report.

After the show, VanZant told reporters, “Whenever I get to the judges, I’m just so happy I made it through the routine that I can’t listen. I just say lots of thank yous!”

“GMA” weathergal Zee said of her dance, “It felt so good! We had to execute and we did it.”

Val was thrilled his 2013 “DWTS” partner, former “Shake it Up” Disney star Zendaya, came back to the show to be a guest judge this week alongside the regulars.

“Talk about grace, talk about presence…she’s a role model…to young women to believe in themselves,” Val raved.

Boyz II Men singer Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold’s ‘ samba interpretation of “The Lion King” impressed the judges, as he received 35 points.

Although he had to don a bulky costume as the Lion, Morris confided he has lost 22 pounds on the show so far and sighed to FOX411 he was eating, “protein and salads.”

He crowed that the “DWTS” costumers, “each week, they take it in a little bit more.”

Football player Antonio Brown, with Sharna Burgess, also excelled, scoring a 35.

Brown brought a jazz routine based on “Aladdin” to life and told FOX411, “I just listened to her, took all the details, and made sure to do the dance as best as I could.”

Deaf “America’s Next Top Model” star Nyle DiMarco caused a stir by showing his six pack as a shirtless “Tarzan” and continued to amaze by staying on beat without hearing a note of the song “Trashin’ the Camp.”

Still clad in his loincloth, determined DiMarco, who got 34 points, said through an interpreter, “The competition is not easy…but that’s why I took this opportunity. It’s an amazing challenge.”
