Former Dancing With The Stars Pro Chelsie Hightower Shares Her Story

What a cool read on former Dancing With The Stars Pro Chelsie Hightower from the Desert News on how her dancing story began. Here are a couple of takes from the link. I wish they’d ask her back to do Dancing With The Stars.

While I am admittedly biased one year later, I wasn’t then. I was not a fan of “Dancing With the Stars,” and I didn’t know she had also been on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Two weeks after our first visit, she hosted a ward activity in her home on a Sunday night.

She and I talked for two hours afterward and have been friends ever since. I listened that night as she talked about realizing that she couldn’t handle the demands of her career on her own and how she came to understand that the Savior’s “yoke is easy” and his “burden is light,” as it says in Matthew 11:30.

Hightower’s dance career began when she was 9 and her family moved into the boundaries of the only elementary school in the United States with a ballroom dance program.

“I think I realized at a young age … that I was meant to be in that ballroom program, and I was meant to find dance,” Hightower said. “I felt like … the Lord was opening doors for me and guiding my path, and I’ve felt like dance was a part of that path since I was 9 years old.”

With the transition to Los Angeles and the pressure of the show, she found herself having anxiety and panic attacks, but she poured herself into dance.

During her time on “Dancing With the Stars,” she was nominated for an Emmy. She coached world champion rodeo cowboy Ty Murray to a fourth-place finish during her first season, and singer-songwriter Micheal Bolton called her “his light” during their time as partners on the show in 2010. She remembers these friendships as the most rewarding part of the experience.

Still, she knew where her strength came from.

Maks Chmerkovskiy Talks On DWTS, The “Maks & Val Our Way” Tour, Peta Murgatroyd, And More

Maks Chmerkovskiy was interviewed on AOL Build today. He talks on the new “Maks & Val Our Way” Tour and what fans can expect. Maks also answered a few questions on Dancing With The Stars and whether he’d take Len Goodman’s place when he retired. Maks was also asked on his engagement and wedding to Peta Murgatroyd. Lot’s more below. One of Mak’s best interviews in my opinion. If you haven’t got tickets to the “Our Way” tour, see this link. Thanks to @Idolxfactor1 for recording.

Dancing With The Stars Artem Chigvintsev And Mishta Barton Dating?

According to ET, Artem Chigvintsev and Mishta Barton are dating. This is so cool. If true, I wish them the best.

Mischa Barton might not have gotten very far on this season of Dancing With the Stars, but The O.C. alum got more out of the show than expected.

A source confirms to ET that Barton and her DWTS partner, Artem Chigvintsev, have started dating. The pair were spotted out at The Little Door, a quaint French restaurant in Los Angeles, on Wednesday night.

“They’ve been in touch after the show and care about each other but this is the first proper date,” a source told ET, adding that the pair are “transitioning into more than friends.” “He is the reason she’s looking happier recently. She has become giddy when talking about him and quite smitten with him.”

The source added, “He’s pursued her for a while, and she’s coming around,” calling their outing “an official date.”

After the two shared a meal, they went to Chateau Marmont where the actress introduced the dancer to some of her pals.

More at ET.

ETA: Below is what Just Jared Jr. is reporting….

“Mischa and Artem are NOT dating. The experience of Dancing with the Stars has a tendency to really bond partners and pros,” a rep for Artem tells JJJ exclusively.

They added, “They have remained friends since the show.”

Derek Hough Set to Star in “Hairspray Live” This December

I think that most of you know that Derek will be playing the lead role on Broadway’s upcoming “Singin’ in the Rain” but we just found out that he’s also landed the role of Corny Collins on NBC’s “Hairspray Live”. It’s very interesting that I noted that his face changed when he was asked about Hairspray months ago – so I have now deemed myself “Official Derek Hough Face Reader”.  The boy either has a very bad poker face, or I just pay too much attention to his face, take your pick. I think, between the two roles and his 70-city tour next year, he is possibly out of DWTS for the foreseeable future. At least as a pro partner to a celebrity. From The Wrap:

“We welcome Marty to the network in May in his new variety show with Maya Rudolph and we think he will be the perfect long-term companion to Harvey’s Edna,” he continued. “And hands-down the best dancer on television and one of the best in the entertainment business, Derek Hough, will be perfect in the role of Corny Collins, the cocky song-and-dance-man who hosts the TV show every teenager in Baltimore wants to be on.”

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Read How Erin Andrews Put Her Look Together For Dancing With The Stars Week 6

I loved Erin Andrew’s look and dress this week, did you? She writes how she and the Dancing With The Stars crew put it all together at People Style.

For Erin, last night’s outfit was all about channeling the ice princess. “Today we were on auto pilot,” she tells PeopleStyle exclusively, “Ryan came in and knew what he was going to do with my hair, Lisa knew what she was going to do with my makeup, and I just sat back and trusted them. But everything changed as soon as I put on this gown.” As we all know a great dress can be an instant game changer, and as Erin put it, “It was a total ‘The cold doesn’t bother me anyway’ moment…FROZEN!!! I was twirling, spinning, and throwing my cape around. The gown was so gorgeous!!” And while it’s clearly stunning from the front, it only gets better as she turns around to reveal an elaborate sheer cape and open back, undeniably making this, “One of my favorite looks ever!!”

Her stylist Alyssa Greene agrees, adding that the dress by Steven Khalil was “magical.” “We were almost going to save it for the finale but we couldn’t wait,” she continued, “The light pink was so pretty on Erin’s skin and it fit her like a glove.” Greene finished off the look with shoes from Manolo Blahnik and jewelry by Sylvie Collection.

More at People Style. Beautiful….
