Great couple, but hope he doesn’t try to make everything look the same … want to see variety of what Jana is able to do. First dance they did should have been classical thats why Len & Julianne, with their technical backgrounds, gave them a low score. Also, hope Gleb doesn’t try to outshine her.
Well Terry, it’s hard to make a VW classical when they had a “sexy” song. And don’t worry, he’s not going to make everything look the same or try and outshine her. From the interview above, it sounds like he very much wants to make the judges happy this week with a lot of different technique and content.
Oh no, I hope it’s just minor. I think what Gleb did with their dance on Monday might have been producers influence because I loved his Viennese Waltz on Strictly. To be honest, they are the most good looking (other says hottest) team this season. I also think it was a smart move to do what they did. Like I said on another post, Gleb is the least known pro on the show. He and Jana needed to make that first impression. Jana has natural move so I hope she’ll stay long in the competition. Btw, why in the world does Gleb only have 60+K followers on IG at the start of the season? This guy must have not been very active on social media 🙂

I was one of the people who hated the choreography and the general feel of their v. waltz- they were one of the biggest letdowns for me in week 1.
Tango usually has a sexier feel to it so it wouldn’t feel out of place in my opinion, but I do hope that the dance has more dimensions to it. I’m also interested to see Jana in frame, since I didn’t feel like there was a lot of “in hold” during the v. waltz.
It’s only week 2, though, and they have a lot of potential so I’m looking forward to them this week.

I didn’t mind so much the sexy feel of their VW, but for me, they could have kept the sexiness AND included more content (such as more in-hold movement and traveling around the whole floor). Jana certainly seems capable, so I hope to see more in their tango this week.
Sorry to hear Jana pulled some muscles, but she’s being a trooper about it, and Gleb is being careful not to let her barrel along and aggravate the injury. I’ve noticed in all his partnerships (Lisa V., Anita on Strictly, and this season), while he speaks somewhat quietly in interviews, he’s definitely “in charge” when it comes to the dancing.
I agree with Cali (#10). Most of Gleb’s choreography is somewhat sexy (that’s his style). I would have preferred some more traditional VWaltz content, but the sexiness didn’t trouble me (the song kind of pulled it in that direction). It was a gorgeous dance and it certainly got people talking. That’s NOT a bad thing for a Week 1 performance. The last thing you want is fade into the woodwork Week 1.
Hopefully they’ll deliver a content-filled Tango next week that pleases the judges and is still sensual.
Sexiness is fine…as long as it doesn’t cover for a lack of good choreo and content. I’m not saying Gleb’s does…but there have been others whose only focus WAS the sexy.
Agree with Thiana (#5) that it may be the producers who are encouraging Gleb to go the sexy route, as Gleb and Jana are the most obvious couple to tick that box. Gleb has since been tweeting about his wife and daughter, so maybe he’s trying to ward off shippers and nip accusations of showmancing in the bud.
I get the OTH tie-in (ugh, theme weeks) but this will be the second time in as many weeks that this pair is getting a mismatched song/dance style that will result in a dark, broody, intense, sexy dance. Next week, how about a a befitting, upbeat song and dance assignment that will allow these two to show a different side of themselves.
Gleb’s been good about tweaking his routines to the various International dancing versions and creating memorable performances that are not overly sexy stapled (save dances/songs that call for it). Looking forward to seeing if he can continue that success here.

Yep, assigning “Dangerous Woman” as a VW right of the bat followed by a Tango and featuring a package that featured Jana essentially saying she was single and fawning over Gleb is a pretty good indication of their intentions. So predictable.
