Dancing with the Stars Season 23, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?
Okay, so word on the street…can’t remember where I heard it…is that we’re back to Most Memorable Year. Let’s see who they’re going to hose this week. 🙂
ETA: Vogue here. According to a live chat at Hollywood Today Live Facebook, James and Sharna have a Tango.
ETA2: Val and Laurie have a Paso Doble to a slow and intense song according to this interview in this post.
ETA3: The rest of the dances and songs have been filled. Thanks to Just Jared Jr via ABC.
ETA4: Here’s the running order per George Pennachio. We’ll have to see if there are set pieces that dictated this. Calvin’s kinda hosed two weeks in a row and Laurie gets top of the second hour – very favorable spot as per usual.

Terra and Sasha – Contemporary (song: “Stand by Me” by Florence + The Machine)
1-800-868-3412
Dancing 9th
I wonder how elimination will work. No result show Tuesday and no previous scores to combine. Maybe no one leaves Monday?
I’m excited for next week because it’s going to be interesting to see what sttles everyone goes with…hopefully not a lot of rumbas and contemporary (saying that I really want to see terra do a contemporary routine). The song for Marilu is cool. Never heard I think before now but it’s catchy.
Hit submit too early: my friends know it really well though surprisingly and they had no clue who Bon Jovi or James bay were so this news made them very happy.
@Martha Since they did a double elimination last night at the results show, I’m guessing that there’s no elimination happening on Monday night since they’re going back to 01 show per week.
Well, I don’t know what’s going to happen. Firstly, hope Calvin doesn’t get screwed with the running order like he has the past few weeks. Also hope he doesn’t get screwed over by the judges.
At the very least though, Terra should be totally safe with the amount of publicity Sasha and Emma got. I’m excited for Terra and Sasha, I can see them lasting further than all of Sasha’s previous partners.
I don’t think anyone going home next week. Hope they have the same song but if they do ,hope they have a contemporary or Viennese waltz or even a rumba if that fits the song.
There is a blurb from Artem on Just Jared where he said they are looking forward to the next two weeks so makes me think they aren’t expecting an elimination on Monday.
Listening to Marilu/Derek song Sounds like Contemporary I kinda think no elimination this week Elimination next week for this week’s scores/votes leaving 8 for the team dances for week 7 on the 24th Assuming no switch up which I really do not like anyway It’ll leave 4 in the finals 1 leaving after the first night
Looking over the song/dance list, I could see this being a strong weak for pretty much everyone.
Everybody got promising contemporaries and jazz numbers. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did James get the only style where you can barely show any emotion?
OMG, I’m flipping out, Rise by Katy Perry is like my favorite song of like all time, it has so much meaning to me it got me through tough times. Laurie and Val are gonna kill it. This season is lit. And Ain’t no Mountain high enough!! I’m literally dying, this is like the best season yet.
Jana is in another entertainment magazine. This time it’s about her 1st marriage and abuse. The last time was about the end of her recent third marriage and her husband’s sex addiction.
I’m not trying to sound mean but I’m having a problem with the timing of her telling these very personal stories. I would get it if she wasn’t doing the show but wanted to tell her story to bring attention to domestic violence, sex addiction, and how not to pick bad men in order to help other women. Or if these were issues that were public before doing DWTS like Leah & Scientology. It just feels very unsavory to me that she’s telling these stories now that are timed to coincide with a show that requires the public’s votes in order to stay. Don’t hurt me.
I’m all in for Gleb and I don’t dislike Jana and I believe her it’s just the timing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth for some reason.
#Nia
I think you can show emotion in a tango James has been through a very tense ordeal and I think a slow song would not represent that well. Tango is a different emotion to most of the other dances. I think James and Laurie were given the best dances, both very intense to represent the intense predicaments they have been in. James with the crash last year and Laurie with 11 years of training. So I think even through they won’t be contemporary or a particular tear jerker, I feel like the intensity will blow everybody else’s dance out of the water.
Already crying just listening to Jana’s song. God I hope she nails it because this has promise of beig GORGEOUS.
Big fan of all the songs this week! Would’ve rather had “Rise” be a Contemporary at some point but I guess a Paso will be interesting to see. Also would have preferred “From the Ground Up” as a Viennese Waltz but a Foxtrot would do, I guess.
I can see James, Marilu, Calvin and Jana really standing out on Monday night… Perhaps Terra as well. Something tells me they’ll drop the hammer on Laurie just so it doesn’t look like she is running away with it.
@CC I agree, that’s an emotional song and I have a feeling she’s gonna kill it! Glad she got another chance.
Ah! Love, love Calvin & Lindsay’s song. “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” is one of my favorite song’s ever. As is “A Song For You” but Donny Hathaway’s. And Jana and Gleb’s “In my Daughter’s Eyes” is the most beautiful, tear-jerker of a song. I feel bad for being a little judgmental earlier. It is Most Memorable Year and it’s for her baby girl. Can’t wait for Monday.
First impression is this could be the a great week for most of the celebs. The only people I’m worried about are Ryan and Amber. Jana hasn’t been connecting for me, so with her personal struggles and emotional song this could be a great week for her- she needs an impactful dance to stick around IMO.
Interesting that Maureen really hasn’t done a standard latin dance (just salsa). I usually enjoy Val’s paso doble routines so I’m sure that Laurie will do great, but young contestants usually don’t have powerful personal stories so she might fall a little flat.
Look most forward to Calvin, actually. I feel like he’ll smash jazz. I also think this is the first time Cheryl and Sasha have choreographed contemporary so I’m looking forward to that.
I agree that I think everyone could have a strong week next week based on these songs/dance styles, and I hope they all do great! Most Memorable Year is such an intense/emotional week and I hate to see anyone put themselves out there like that just to have things not go so well.
Really looking forward to James, Jana, and Calvin’s. Hoping for something good out of Laurie’s, since I think that song/dance has a lot of potential, but expecting to just see more of ‘The Val Show!’
Maria_D Jana may have done the interview, etc. some time ago, even before she knew she was going to be on DWTS. It might actually be the publication that wants to take advantage of her visibility on DWTS.
I wish I felt more optimistic about Marilu, but I don’t think she’s going to get much better. She mentioned on GDLA that she hasn’t “hit her stride” yet and is convinced she will, so she really wants to stay on the show longer. I don’t see it happening, unless Derek takes a really different, unconventional, somewhat off-the-wall approach, which jolts her out of her usual m.o. Her situation reminds me of that Chinese finger puzzle thing, where the harder you pull to get your finger out, the tighter it gets. It makes me quite sad for her.
@Suzy
Good point!
Emmy, if you don’t like it, then leave!!
The information about why Jana’s recent marriage ended was leaked by a supposed friend of hers, not by Jana herself just adding more insult to injury. Yes, I’m sure she is addressing it now that the cat is out of the bag but she wasn’t the one that put it out there
@Suzy, Derek just posted a blog and he states the different approach he is going to take with her this week.
Love the song choices except for Jana and gleb’s….which in my opinion is the best song used this season thus far and is exceptional 🙂 . I’m not surprised Laurie chose the song she did since that was the olympic song and everything but I’m hoping that Vals choreo can live up to how dramatic that song is lol.
So this is the third time in the last four weeks that Laurie is doing a dance nobody else is doing. And week 3 was a dance-off as well, hmm.
RELEASE THE CONTEMPORARIES AND JAZZES! Lol I’m thankful that the first three weeks of this season is completely Junior Freestyle-free, but it’s time to face them now. Oh well.
Excited for Marilu’s Viennese Waltz! I love the song and hopefully it could be her breakthrough dance (still can’t believe she’s only gotten one 8 out of fifteen individual paddles so far). Looking forward for James and Calvin as well.
Hit submit too early: Calvin’s song is such a pick me up happy song so I’m beyond happy with that. It always reminds me of the end of sister act 2 lol
Yes she a 8 for her foxtrot. I am excited for her dance too.
Maria_D The same thing crossed my mind about Jana as well to be honest, very convenient timing for such serious issues to be brought up publicly.
Jana was embarrassed by the magazine cover/article about her sex-addict husband as she said in her video diary about how difficult it was to go past the airport news stands – that diary entry was hard to watch. And all those emotions must be just simmering under the surface as she almost broke down in the post-show interview when it was alluded to and basically all she could say was her daughter’s name. I hope she has her breakthrough this week and can show vulnerability. But seeing her latest IG post and one from DWTS, I just want to tell her to point her toes!!
#Tina I read his blog and he’s got the right idea, but he doesn’t take it far enough. I know this is going to sound incredibly weird, but Marilu shouldn’t be allowed to speak during rehearsals — there’s really nothing she should be talking about anyway. She should be listening, and more importantly, watching, period. Derek’s right that language is the hook, but it’s her language that is the much bigger problem, and if it’s not “forced” to get out of the way, her body will never get to dance.
Question…Do the contestants get to choose the song for their most memorable year?
Nevermind the question. I just saw where Laurie chose her song.
@Suzy
Listening and watching is Marilu’s biggest problem though, she holds on to every little information and visuals she gets, and it gets too much to handle in her overactive brain. Giving her less information and having her get into the moves organically from the body instead of technically from the brain as Derek is planning to do sounds like the right way to go.
@Geri..It will be interesting to see how or if it affects his choreography. He’s been giving her complicated routines and she’s nailed them, but I wonder if he has to simplify the routine so her mind has more freedom. He said he wanted to remove that burden/lighten the load or something to that extent. I think the judges have been way too hard on her, but something is very tensed and forced. I hope this new strategy sets her mind free and everything clicks for her.
@Sheri
Derek focuses on every detail and he also changes his choreograophy a lot while working on it with his partner so I guess he’ll try to not be as detailed or make as many adjustments as he’s used to so that Marilu can get out of her head and not tense up trying to implement absolutely everything he’s told and shown her.
I find it extremely interesting that the only other person on the show who has scored higher than Laurie(excluding tying with James) is Calvin and Lindsay and the next week right after that they went out of their way to lowball him(I thought a 9 or two would be in his score).Calvin and James are my favorite but I’m nervous with what the show is trying to do because they seem to realize Calvin and James are a threat to their selected winner “Laurie” and with them trying to make Val happen desperately with his unexciting choreography makes me think they will start giving james and calvin lower scores even when they do well to make laurie seem untouchable…I know this is most likely not the post I should be writing on about this but this is my first post so sorry.
Am I the only one who really really wants a most memorable year episode for the pros ,like what they did in hometown glory
If Val can give Laurie simple routines and earn 10s, and Maks can have Amber take her clothes off and earn 8s, there’s no reason why Derek and Marilou should be held to such a high standard. Maybe simplifying is what he has in mind. Marilou really is a beautiful dancer and I just hope they don’t give her the Nastia treatment.
I really don’t wan memorable year for the pros. Once was plenty for me.
*want*
Well, Rose1, when you put it like that it’s pretty tough to disagree. 🙂
I actually agree, Rose1. I would rather see simple, clean, well executed basics and how a celebrity can build on them as the season goes on than a more content filled, but sloppier harder to watch dance. And I think that’s what people who don’t really know the rules of the dances would prefer.
However, it is interesting to watch older seasons and see how little it took to bring the wow factor back then compared to now.
There should be a happy medium to it.
Do anyone know who the new female troupe member is, the black girl. I think she is amazing. I was watcing her in that female pro dance number they did and she really stood out for me.
#Val Her name is Britt Stewart.
I’m surprised by the lack of Rumbas, not just for this week but also for last season’s MMY. I hope we start getting some more soon; hopefully there’ll be more than just three this time.
Do you think they will allow lauri and val do a rumba. I know we did get one between zendaya and him but I think Lauri could handle it tbh because zendaya was a disney kid and you know how that goes. I think val could put together something passionate but age appropriated for her.
I don’t think she will but maybe I’m wrong .Bindi,Bethany and Sadie did one and they were 16 or 17 so i don’t know why she wouldn’t do it . They should allow it because it was done before.
I’d guess that they will get one eventually. They gave bindi one and I don’t think she was much older. Not really sure how old the Sadie was but she couldn’t have been much older either. I’m just hoping that if they do give her a rumba it’s in switch up week becuase vals rumbas aren’t exactly great.
In answer to #Val, for the record Zendaya and Val actually never danced a rumba. My guess is that if Laurie and Val can avoid one style, they will probably avoid rumba due to her age. That said, as others have pointed out, other young contestants did age-appropriate rumbas on the show. Age-appropriate rumbas kind of defy the point of rumba to me, but I agree that one has to adjust to individual circumstances.
On a very different note, I still think of Marilu as one of my top three. I think her body is gorgeous and she moves really well. Yes, she can work on relaxing more, but I think the judges made too much fuss about her “being too much in her head.” While true to some extent, I think this critique has been exaggerated. She also has been underscored so far in my opinion. Given some of the elegant lines she has already shown us, I hope/think her V. Waltz will be really good.
Thats right val and zendaya didnt have a rumba because I think zendaya wasnt comfortable with it but for some reason I feel like Lauri will be. Both mature girls for their age but zendaya at the time was trying too hard to keep her disney image, Laurie doesnt act like that so who knows.
Im sorry but I have to disagree about Marilu making top three. If anyone makes top three it will most likely be James, Calvin or Jana and Lauri as I feel like those four have finals written all over them. If Marilu do make it to the finals it will be because of Derek’s fanbase not hers. I don’t get excited watch her like I do the others.
@Vin
Laurie is the 3rd youngest contestant the show has ever had (she turned 16 in June) – behind Willow and Hayes and she’s a couple of months younger than Zendaya was. No contestant under 17 has ever done the Rumba on the show. Shawn (S8),Sadie and Bindi were all 17. Bethany was 18.
I think Marilu can be in top 4 or 3 if she has a breakthrough week and if she continue to have amazing dance and the judges don’t underscored her. I don’t think Jana will be in the top 4 . I think in the finals it will be James,Laurie ,Calvin and the fourth one it’s anyone guess.
Marilu’s best dance to date was her Foxtrot so I have a good feeling for the Viennese Waltz. I also love the empowering message of her song.
@Sophie
I think the show wants Laurie, James, Calvin and Jana and their pros (who are all doing the DWTS tour) as the final four.
It says that the star supposedly selects the song that fits their memorial year story.
I think Ryan’s gonna be a great one. Based on the song, I bet it will be a romantic dance about love.
Ryan’s gonna knock it out of the park. I am excited.
The “show” doesn’t always get what they want, Geri. I don’t think Jana is going to make it. I don’t know who IS, but I don’t think it’s going to be Jana. She just doesn’t stand out. And so far, I don’t think the judges are doing her any favors (like they clearly are for Val). They underscored Calvin and James both pretty badly compared to Laurie this week as well.
For some unknown reason, they still need to make Val happen – and to hell with anyone else. I think Gleb, if he gets past the fact that his partner is beautiful, could probably choreograph circles around Val – and we already know that Sharna and Lindsay can. There’s still a chance for Gleb to be the new “IT” guy, once Derek and Maks are gone again, but it ain’t this season.
Has anyone confirmed whether there is an elimination this week or not?
I hope this is the week when we finally see Marilu flip the “off” switch on her mind and transcend into a rhythm where there is no right or wrong, there is only dance.
I feel like if Marilu can’t release that in herself during MMMY week, then it’s unlikely she ever will. It’s something I’ve been wanting to see since Marilu’s Taxi heyday, and I want her and Derek to get far together this season.
Working on it, Chris.
@Geri I don’t think the fact that they’ve never had someone under 17 do a rumba necessarily rules out a rumba for Laurie. There’s really not a huge difference between the average 16 year-old and the average 17 year-old maturity wise. On the other hand, in the case of Willow Shields, she was was 14 during her season. The difference between a 14 year-old and a 17 year-old is the difference between a middle schooler and a high school junior. Obviously, this all gets a lot more complicated when you consider the maturity and preferences of each individual teenager, and not just the average teenager of a certain age. It is certainly very possible that Laurie will not do a rumba, either because they just happen not to be assigned that style or because the producers have determined that she’s too young, but I don’t think we can completely rule out the possibility strictly based on what has happened in the past.
Just listened to Jana’s song again and I got chills. Can’t wait for this dance, I think this will be her week to stand out. I also listened to Marilu’s song as well and as long as she can FEEL the dance like Derek said in his blog, she’s going to also have her breakthrough week.
Correct me if I’m wrong or just have short term memory, but I just realized the Jive is Marilu’s only “fast” Latin dance so far. I feel that if she can feel the music and the dance this week, she’s going to do well in Latin from now on as well.
I agree it’s going to be Laurie, Calvin and James as the final 3 and would love Terra to be the fourth as I’d love to see what Sasha would come up with for the freestyle. I can’t see Laurie doing anything that’s a surprise or that shows growth (and Val’s choreography will be lacklustre) whereas the others will be more memorable and entertaining.
Can’t wait for MMY though I’ll have to be careful when I watch, as I watch from Australia. Last year, I made the mistake of watching the dances immediately as they were uploaded on various sites (in the middle of the day here in Oz) then sobbing uncontrollably from Bindi’s dance, as I drove to work that afternoon. I think Terra and Jana’s will do that to me this time, though not to the same extent.
Fingers crossed it all clicks for Marilu. The idea of most memorable year must be hard for someone who can remember every single day of their life but hopefully, this truly makes her connect to the feelings attached to the memories, and those emotions will reflect in her dance.
With regards to minors just like there are working hours laws or rules, there is also the consent from parents. If it is outfits, songs, dances etc… in the end the parents or guardian has the final decision of if they can do it or not because they are under 18. If we all remember Sadie’s Mom was never not there and even her Dad Willie in a package had stated in regards to approving her outfit. So I think rumba can be pitched but if the parent/guardian does not give the ok or the permission then it can’t happen.
Like others, I miss the rumbas- we didn’t have a lot of them last season, either. One person I don’t want doing it, though, is Laurie. I think all the pros (including Val) have been very age appropriate when given minor partners, and I’m sure Val would choreo something suited to a 16 year old. Regardless, unless its a themed week when its not actually a Rumba (Bindi/Derek), I just don’t like to see underage contestants doing Rumba. Personal opinion, of course.
@Chayse
I agree, Shawn (S8) and Sadie both were very uncomfortable doing the Rumba due to inexperience and it showed. Bindi lucked out with the Dirty Dancing Mambo-Rumba.
@ m
I think the difference between the 16 year olds and 17 year olds on the show is the implementation of the child labour laws for the 14-16 year olds. So the 16 year olds are still legally children on DWTS while the 17-18 year olds are young adults who still need their parent’s approval for bigger decisions but are otherwise not limited.
Piper, the costuming issues with Sadie could easily have just been her doing what her parents wanted – she’s a good kid like that. When the youngun’s parents sign a contract, it depends on what’s in the contract and the child labor laws. I doubt very much that all the parents have final approval on *everything*. They would never sign them to the show if they gave up that much control. It’s more likely they (the producers) aren’t complete craven assholes and have no desire to see children do those dances either.
Think I know how is maks’ choreography this week.
crisis-cross-botafogo, promenade runs, booty shake, cross body lead, an amber’s solo. in some moment he or she rips his shirt off, or he starts already bare chest. tadaaaaaa
I really like Amber’s song, it got a really good beat for samba. I just hope Maks will do it justice, he has been pissing me off on his lack of commitment this season with Amber because I feel like the potential is there and Maks could have really encouraged Amber to not even watch the package of when judges commented on her dance. Alot of the pros have been telling their celeb partners to ignore the video packages and understand why.
Ok, maybe it is my age, but I doubt Val or Gleb will ever “happen”. I liked Val with Sherri S. And liked his quickstep with Danica. I tried to give him a chance….truly I did. He comes across as limited, disinterested, one dimensional, stagnant. Gleb comes across as arrogant, ” arent I sexy”, peacock, I’m a stud and dont have to work too hard. I admit to preferring Derek and Mark and Lindsey and Sasha…work ethic, versatility, talent, creativity, and, yes, no sleaze…..
I was listening to Maureen’s song, and while I’m no expert, it really seemed like a waltz to me. And didn’t she already have foxtrot in the first week? Is she doing another one? Or did Just Jared misreport her dance? (Or am I just imagining things? 🙂 )
Apparently I’m imagining things – I went and hunted up the Week 1 post, and saw that Maureen had V. waltz the first week. But her dance this week still sounds more like a waltz than a foxtrot.
Funny how DWTS’ official Youtube channel named Maks and Val’s number “Maks & Val’s Performance” but Derek’s number they just named “Pro Performance #2”
#71, yep, sure is interesting…..gotta get Derek to fade into the background somehow…I do wonder, though, why they would want to even allow another look at that offering from the C bros. It wasn’t exactly something to be proud of- not for the show, the network or the 2 of them. Embarassing on many levels.
Yea, the C-Bros’ number is one of the most embarrassing numbers I’ve seen on this show. Bringing that older person up on stage, spreading her legs, n what he does in front of her is all so disgusting. Infact, it was so-o-o embarrassing.
Also, Mak always does that same thing over and over again, always rubbing his eyebrows down as he comes on n the camera is on him. Its so boring n we’re getting tired of that same ole, same ole. Do something different, or do nothing at all.
Incredibly foolish of them, Geri. Do they not want hits? Cuz Derek is their most popular pro, period. Very, very odd.
If there is an elimination tonight, I doubt it will be Ryan, even though he’s alone at the bottom of the judges leaderboard. He’s still interesting and one of only 3 guys remaining. Meantime all 4 normal sized women are more or less tied in the middle of the pack: Amber, Jana, Marilu,& Maureen. I expect to see them start going next. I’m expecting the final 4 to be Calvin, James , Laurie, & Terra. Not sure of the order, except that Laurie will likely win. .
I think the fourth spot for the finale,it’s anyone game. I think it’s either Terra,Marilu or Jana who will be in finale.
I still believe Marilu can make the top 4. I think Jana and Terra have both been terribly overscored in the last two weeks along with Maureen.
The judges comments that Marilu is too much in her head are a bit much….and I can kind of see their point but in a way, it’s like they’re grasping at straws.
C’est la Vie. I guess we’ll see what happens tonight.
There have been conflicting reports on elimination tonight, which I don’t understand how they can have one and what they’re going to base it off of since there’s no Tuesday show this week, last week’s scores and votes were used for the double elimination and the press release did not mention anything. I can see them putting people in fake jeopardy like with Bindi and Nick in S21 and say there’s no elimination but even them doing that, what are they going to use? Last week’s stats? Smh..
#Geri. I think whoever titled those videos for last week was just lazy… they titled the “non-stripping” one “Pro Performance #1” and Derek’s “Pro Performance #2”. But what really bothers me is that they were too lazy to name all the dancers in the “Kairos” performance. That seems very rude to me. And stupid, and inconvenient, because commenters are going to ask and then other commenters have to answer. Why, for example, should Ekaterina have to answer the fifty questions about who she is? It was so easy to list her at the top. But they didn’t. The uploader was just too lazy to find out the names and type them in.
#73, I disagree I thought the C bros performance was really good dance wise but I do agree with the whole lapdance thing. It was awkward and added nothing to the performance tbh and then bring children out there seconds after was just bad combination but overall it was fun performance.
Derek’s performance was emmy performance. Everything about it screamed emmy, it was different and really showcased the true talent on this show.
It would be a foolish person to count out Ryan as a contender for 4th place. America loves an underdog and he truly is the underdog of the season. To be honest it’s quite open who finishes fourth which is good considering how utterly predictable the final is looking at this stage.
Not surprised TPTB are keeping their cards close to their chest. Even if their is no elimination it gives them the option to call someone that they want to give help too like Amber and Maks in jeopardy at the end of the show to try and give them a vote boost that they’ll probably need to stay in. I think that’s most likely what will happen, it wouldn’t be right IMO if they had what would basically be a triple elimination. I wouldn’t put it past them though if the couple third bottom from last week is who they deem “disposable” and wouldn’t mind seeing eliminated. For me both Maureen and Marilu fall into this category. But if Amber or Terra is third bottom, then they surely won’t have an elimination.
It’s not that the comments the judges made about Marilu were necessarily wrong – it was the score that went with those comments. None of them, as I recall, gave any real technical critique of her dancing. On the contrary, she was told that she got all the steps right, but she’s too “in her head”. Well, getting all the steps right but being in your head does NOT equal a 21 – ESPECIALLY not when they told one other couple (I think it was Terra…and James too, for that matter) that they missed steps, yet they get significantly higher scores.
I’m not saying Marilu deserved all 9s – but 8s would have been far more appropriate than 7s, when comparing her dance to several others.
I doubt VERY, VERY much that Ryan will take forth place. Judges scores count for half, after all, and he’s not exactly killing it in that area.
So I opened up my calendar and did the math. If there was no elimination tonight, we’d still have 9 couples at the end of the show. By halloween week which is week 8, we’d be at 6 couples by the end of the show that week. So my thing is, if the finale is on the 21/22nd and we are having a 4 couple finale, they must have another week where there’s no elimination? I don’t see how they can eliminate someone tonight and not be short come the finale.
So George Pennacchio posted the lineup and Calvin is going second. Very disappointed, I thought by now that TPTB put him as a main competitor and would stop screwing him over with the running order. Some things just never change.
Bill Engvall and Alek Skarlatos never really killed it in scores though. I just look at it as an average viewer and voter. I came into this not caring at all for Ryan but he’s won me right over and I doubt I’m alone. Most of my votes go to him these days which I never saw coming before the start of the season. I could see him making up a vote difference if needed. Obviously it’s doubtful he makes 4th but don’t count him out just yet.
Just seen the running order. Annoyed that Calvin once again goes second. His running order positions so far from week 1 have been: 3, 4, 8, 1 and now 2. Also annoyed at Maureen going first yet again. Her running order positions: 4, 1, 10, 2, 1. TPTB for me making it pretty clear who they’d like to see go next in order to keep Amber. Plus I don’t care for her but slightly annoyed at Jana going early again: 8, 2, 2, 3, 3. Just doesn’t seem fair to me that the same couples always make up the first four spots. Would it really hurt them to put Laurie or Terra first or second once in a while? Rant over!
IMO Calvin’s been hosed more than 2 weeks in a row. He’s never gone later than fourth- he’s literally always at the beginning of the show. That’s some serious BS.
And I agree with M8- Jana, Calvin, and Maureen have been at the beginning of the show basically every week while Terra, Amber, and Laurie are always in the back half. That’s kind of ridiculous.
No, it wouldn’t kill them to put Terra and Laurie in the first half of the show.
Ryan isn’t Bill or Alek. I like the dude too, but the same people who would vote religiously for Alek (maybe Bill) are probably the same ones still pissed about Rio. I don’t agree with them…but I don’t agree with much of what they say or do. 🙂
I think Marilu is the only one that’s had two dances in the early part of the show, and two in the later part of the show. Tonight she’s in the middle.
