Dancing with the Stars Season 23, Week 5 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Well, this week will be interesting.  We have a four way tie for last place and I’m sure that was just an accident. :::rolls eyes:::  Let me tell you, one of that four is not like the others – what the hell is Calvin still doing at the bottom of the leader board? Personally, I’m not convinced that Maureen belongs down there either, but I would only put her above Amber and Ryan by a point. Calvin by 2 or 3 points.  I think that Maureen has been a bit overscored on more than one occasion but I like her so I ain’t too mad. Calvin, on the other hand, has been robbed on more than one occasion. Not sure what they’re seeing there, honestly. Lindsey has been doing a tremendous job in choreo and I think she has a harder job than Sharna, the other standout female pro this season.  Good lord, Calvin was throwing Lindsay around…it was amazing.

I think that Laurie landed in about the right spot this week, as did Marilu and James. Terra…I don’t know what to make of her. I LIKE her so much, a lot of the time, but the contemporary dance didn’t do much for me. Conversely, her Samba kicked ASS. I think it has to do with her small stature which limits her ability to get that flowy, smooth finish to dances like Contemporary. Not her fault, but at some point they will have to score her in comparison to other competitors. I think she’s just too high on the leader board this week. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Mark Ballas Will Be Video Blogging his Broadway Run in “Jersey Boys”

Well, this should be fun!! Mark’s going to catalog his Jersey Boys Adventures for Broadway.com starting when his run starts next Tuesday and every Tuesday after that! Check it out.

Soon, you won’t be able to take your eyes off of this vlog. Jersey Boys’ newest star Mark Ballas is Broadway.com’s next video blogger. Grab your red blazer and some comfortable shoes, because Walk Like a Man begins next week.

The vlog will kick off as Ballas rehearses for his Broadway debut as Frankie Valli and capture backstage life as Jersey Boys approaches its final performance in January. Expect appearances and hijinks from his fellow Seasons: Nicolas Dromard, Drew Seeley, Matt Bogart and his Frankie counterpart Mauricio Pérez.

Entertainment Tonight talks to James Hinchcliffe, Jana Kramer and Ryan Lochte (Video)

This is from after this past Monday’s show, but I don’t see where Vogue posted it….and it’s dated October 17, which is three days from now. Weirdness all the way around. Nothing we haven’t heard before, but their fans might like this video.

James Hinchcliffe Chats On Dancing With The Stars At Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois

James Hinchcliffe talked with STL Today about Dancing With The Stars during a break Thursday while testing at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. He talks of Sharna Burgess, how he got on the show, and more.

One of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ producers was in the audience,” he recalled. “They eventually talked me into it. I have a tremendous partner and coach in Sharna Burgess, and she’s really pushed me hard. I’m a competitive person, you know, so if hard work and putting in the hours is what it takes, that’s no problem for me.

“It’s been great for me and huge for IndyCar. I’ve always been a proponent of doing whatever I can to try and grow the sport and this, obviously, is tremendous exposure.”

Hinchcliffe said that Burgess was on her way to St. Louis for a Thursday night rehearsal before the pair flies back to Los Angeles for the live show Monday.

“At this point, I’d have to say (Olympic gymnast) Laurie Hernandez is the favorite, but there are some really talented performers on the show,” he said. “It’ll be interesting to see how things work out.”

Asked about his chances, Hinchcliffe said, “We’ll see. There are going to be dances that suit you better than others, just like racetracks on the circuit. I just want to stay consistent and hopefully be there at the end.”

Hinchcliffe, who has four IndyCar victories, was involved in a horrific crash during practice for the 2015 Indianapolis 500, but he recovered in time to win the pole for the 100th running of the fabled race earlier this year.

“The competitor in me is looking for results, to be better, but the human is me is happy to wake up and get a chance to drive again,” he said.

More at STL Today.
