More DWTS 24 Rumors: Someone From Pretty Little Liars, Property Brothers, or Storage Wars?
Hollywood Life has some hints for more people who are dancing on Dancing With The Stars Season 24. Whether these hints are true or not remains to be seen. Any guesses?
So, who else is competing? Glad you asked! A cast member from Pretty Little Liars, and a star from Property Brothers or Storage Wars are pretty much set in stone, a series insider EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife.com earlier this month, noting that only two or three spots are still open. That means the cast list is nearly complete! Season 24 is gearing up to be the best one yet!

ETA: I was just looking at all of our rumors gathered over the off season. Note how Ashley Benson from “Pretty Little Liars” was one of them. Thanks to Colleen for the reminder too.
I’m really excited if it’s either of the property brothers or Barry (his name was mentioned before and he kinda was the only reason I stuck with storage wars for so long lol).
Hit submit too early: plus my friends in England are obsessed with him now lol. They sent me a video of them at yard sales and they wanted to test their newfound skills that they learned from him and they were “appraising” something and they were like it’s worth so much money and so serious about t being from the 50s and then they turned it Upside down and it had a seal on the bottom of the box that said made in 2010 lol.
The pretty little liars rumor has been heard before so who knows if that’s just fake news or not but the twin brothers from the property brothers show gave an interview last year and they were asked about DWTS-one of them(can’t remember the name) said absolutely so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was doing it! Never know!!
I can kind of believe the Pretty Little Liars rumor. The show is done filming for good and besides Lucy Hale, the majority of the cast doesn’t have other acting projects lined up. Wasn’t there rumors a few seasons ago that Shay Mitchell wanted to do DWTS? The timing might finally be right.
As for the PLL rumor, you guys posted about Ashley Benson being a possibility awhile back. So they’re either hoping that’s true or the old Shay Mitchell spec that comes up every season.
I hope it is someone from Storage Wars!! Maybe Barry or Laura!!
I’m at the point with PLL where I feel like every single season it could be a rumor. If Ashley or Shay does it I would be happy (it would be fun to have one of the main four girls do it) but I’m not holding my breath. The property brothers would be my DREAM contestants. I would love to have both on, but even just one of the brothers would be amazing, especially if they were paired with Lindsay.
If Ashley is on, she’ll be Val’s partner. Why? Someone just sent me this from her Wiki page:
Ashley Victoria Benson was born and raised in Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California,[2] the daughter of Shannon (née Hart) and Jeff Benson. She has a sister, Shaylene, who is a year older. She started dancing competitively in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical at age four. She also enjoys singing, and has appeared in several musicals. At age four, she was asked to audition to sing solo at four Christmas services at her church.[3] At five, she modeled in dance catalogs, and at age eight, she began modeling under The Ford Modeling Agency in print advertisements. She also appeared in a Lil’ Romeo music video as a schoolgirl in 2002. She made a brief appearance in the Zoey 101 episode “Quinn’s Date” in March 2005. She has also appeared in the music videos for NLT’s “That Girl”, One Call’s “BlackLight”, and Hot Chelle Rae’s “Honestly”.
Fascinating, Heidi. I bet you are right!
There’s a reason Hollywoodlife is called HollywoodLIES. I doubt any of these are true.
Oh boy dancing competitively-is it too early to start using the term ‘ringer’? LOL Val would be thrilled!! ????
I would take either of the Property Brothers. They’re easy on the eyes and if they can dance, it will be an interesting season. But TPTB, please give whichever one it is a good partner (Lindsey is my first choice, and please don’t give Val another ringer. Give him someone older, so he has the challenge of not having someone that everyone knows will win before the season starts. Give him a partner that Tony usually gets, over 50, and NO dancing experience of any kind at any age. I don’t want to go into this season with him already strutting around about how great he has it.
@Anonymous, that’s why Val needs someone he has to work harder with. Not to take anything away from any of the competitors, because I give each and every one of them a lot of credit for doing this show. But I want to see him with someone completely different from what he’s used to getting and not having him think the mirror ball is his right from the start. I want to see how invested he gets with a partner that isn’t someone like Laurie Hernandez, Zendaya or Rumor Willis.
Cindy-I, absolutely, agree with you!! That would be something to see Val paired with someone who would, truly, challenge him in more ways than one LOL. Question is would the producers ever dream of giving him such a partner….me thinks not….
(Same thing goes for his brother too!)
One of the Property Brothers is getting married. I can see the “I wanted to learn to dance for my first wedding dance” reason for being on the show. They’re both cute too. 🙂
I personally don’t get WHY the producers of this show treat Val so well. All I can come up with is
-When they brought on C-bros II, they were hoping to strike gold like the Hough siblings. While Maks wasn’t a MB champion, he was (and is?) popular with the audience.
-After losing Maks, I feel like TPTB thought Val could fill his brother’s place as the “sexy bad boy.” They haven’t seemed to have cottoned onto the fact that Val doesn’t package himself as a bad boy to his fans. He only wants to own the sexy title. So me thinks he’s one bad hombre behind the scenes!
-On a similar note, they seem to feel Val is one of the “fan favorites” and it’s easiest, for them, to both keep him popular and to make him look good.
TPTB have somewhat different priorities than we do, I think. They want a successful TV show and the metrics on which they are judged have been changing over the life of this show. Originally, it would have been audience numbers and therefore what they could charge for commercials. But now, not only the number of viewers but their ages matter! Buzz and social media seems to count. Other platforms like tours. The overall direction of ABC.
So it’s possibly because they really are juggling multiple balls that TPTB seem to have a fixed view of the pros and therefore, who to partner them with.
Val, Maks, and Gleb – sexy, brooding Russians. Eye candy for the audience. “Passionate.” I don’t think any of these guys will see an older, big or disabled partner.
Artem and maybe Tony are the more compassionate sexy, brooding Russians. They seem to be pegged as having more patience and also as slightly more expendable.
Mark – seems to get the majority of very young or religious contestants but no older ones!
Derek – current management seemed to want him and his fans to tune in but they actively didn’t want him to win any more MBT. Quite a contradiction but one necessary to try and pacify the Derek detractors in the audience and the ballroom. Which worked well with Derek wanting to be challenged.
Sasha – an all round good guy who will cheerfully do whatever we ask – the producers.
Keo – I believe they hired him to be a new flavor of sexy, sexy male. It was really, really obvious that he wasn’t working out but I was still surprised when he was switched to troupe. It wouldn’t shock me in the least if he has a (good) partner again this season.
Sharna, Peta – sexy bombshells. But somehow, the woman are all assumed to have what it takes to rise to a challenge…….
Witney – Hollywood’s version of the all American, girl next door. Mary Ann to the Gingers above.
Lindsay, Allison – I feel like they are assigned partners after the others….
Karina – sadly, I feel like the producers see her as a Hollywood dowager.
Emma – She’s Mrs. Howell and is assigned partners accordingly.
Like many people who manage something for a very long time, Colleen, the producers seem to have lost the plot on some things (and just because we’re on exec producer #3, doesn’t mean they don’t have the same problem – they all have DWTS experience). The big one is, I think, that if Val and Gleb are all that to the show they wouldn’t NEED the help to stick around and be successful. I would argue that the REASON Derek, Mark and Maks have the positions they do is because it was allowed to happen more organically. Derek didn’t get an actual ringer until his SIXTH season on the show – and thanks to the producers, he’s not even close to #1 in the pro who gets the most ringers by percentage of ringers/seasons. Yet he has the most MBTs – funny how that happens. The person with the highest average ringers/seasons had to be handed ringers nearly every season in order to be manipulated to the two MBTs he has.
Mark and Ashley recently followed each other, isn’t that usually a hint. I would love to see her with Mark, not Val.
I doubt that Derek, Mark and probably most others, especially all of the women, flex their “importance” muscles over what type of partner they want. I do note, as you’ve pointed out, that both Derek and Mark seem to have better contracts/ arrangements as to skipping tours and some side engagements like The Grove.
On the other hand, Maks had a huge ego and a mouth to match. I’m sure there was (is?) jealousy behind the scenes about MBT, Emmys and “favoritism.” I see Val as being cut from the same mold but with a sneakier flavor. Tony was rather bitter about their collective lack of a trophy until HE won one! It might be as simple as the squeaky pros get the grease. And those with vocal fans getting the “best” partners. Sharna HAS had several potential MB winners for partners as well as some not as obvious like Noah and James. I would have thought TPTB are trying to help her across the finish line but Laurie was so obviously the “chosen one” with NO competition last season……
At least if Simone is on this season, she might get some competition from Ashley Benson, a girl band member and even possibly Nancy Kerrigan.
Not “usually” Janna, just sometimes.
Of course Derek and Mark don’t flex their “importance” muscle, Colleen – they have more class than that, plus they are good choreographers that don’t need a ringer to survive. Derek actually asked for “challenges” – and look what he cranked out.
As for the contracts – the contracts and the types of partners you get are two very different things. Derek and Mark joined the show a long time ago and have probably negotiated their way into better contracts. Conversely, the newer pros signed up later when the contracts were likely more onerous. Most producers learn contract lessons early on and the late joiners suffer for it. An example, when Clay Aiken joined American Idol in season 2, he was very, VERY smart and realized the contracts were crap. He got the entire cast to band together to demand something less horrible. After his season, the producers got smarter (more evil?) with those contracts. I expect the same thing happened here. Once Derek and Mark (and Maks, Cheryl, etc) original contracts were up, they renegotiated…and then probably renegotiated again. Your strength of negotiating is proportional to how valuable they consider you.
That doesn’t really explain why Val gets a ringer nearly every season – that’s been going on since his early seasons. I think it’s much more related to Derek/Maks than any of them would care to admit. They need Val to be successful because they knew they were losing the two big dogs eventually. Turns out though, despite all his talk, they can’t get rid of Maks. 😀
