A Preview Of Julianne Hough And Derek Hough’s Performance On DWTS And Lots More

Copied from PureDerekHough:
Julianne talked with TV Guide about her and Derek’s Sia Part 2 performance for Monday night. This is awesome. Check it out

This next episode of Dancing with the Stars is a special episode for you! What can you tell us about the Move preview that we’ll see?
Julianne Hough: I’m super excited! My brother and I were lucky enough to perform a couple seasons ago to “Elastic Heart” by Sia, and that was such a special moment for us because I think it was the first time we’d done something really different on the show than what people normally expect to see from us. It was amazing, it was very authentic and something that was very personal to us. This performance is an extension of that. Again, it’s very personal to us, it talks about family and our family dynamic and what happened in our lives. The message and the moral behind it is this is our life, we’ve gone through it, and it’s sort of our closure now, but everything is going to be all right, basically. It’s to “Unsteady,” which is such a beautiful song. It tells a story about our parents getting a divorce, and we have to be there for each other even though we feel pretty unsteady at the time, but we’re going to be looking at our lives in this scene we’re setting, as adult versions of ourselves.

We have a resolve at the end, which is kind of what we’re doing right now by reconnecting with our family and this closure — not even forgiveness, but everything’s okay and everything was supposed to happen how it did. We’re in rehearsal and we’re crying and figuring out our story behind it, it’s not going to be super detailed in the dance moves but for us it’s so great because we know the meaning behind the specific moves, which was very similar to “Elastic Heart.” For me I love being able to choreograph and tell a story, it’s amazing and really fun.

With the Move Beyond tour and Dancing, you’re going to be awfully busy. Are you going to miss any episodes of Dancing because of the schedule?
Hough: I think there’s one where it was just not possible to fly back, because we are in a city where there isn’t an airport close enough to get us back in time for the show. So I think there’s only one episode I’m missing. Other than that, I will be flying back every Monday morning and taking a red eye back.

How has your brother Derek taken to not participating in this season?
Hough: Honestly, we’re so busy with the tour that we’re just focused on that. I think he’s like, “Oh man, there are some really great contestants on this season. I think it would have been fun to do that.” But literally every Monday night I come back here and start up again the next day, so we’re keeping him busy for sure.

Dancing With The Stars Normani Kordei Writes Of Preparing For Her Third Dance In Japan

Normani Kordei writes of preparing for her next dance in Japan which has definitely been an experience this week. She’s excited about it too. From Hollywood Life

Preparing here in Japan has been a different experience — one that I’ll definitely remember. For instance, in Hong Kong at the Mariott Hotel, there wasn’t even a ballroom that we could rehearse in. We had to literally rehearse in a meeting room which had carpet, so I couldn’t even wear the proper shoes that I’ll be wearing for my actual performance… so I’ll have to adjust on Monday. But it’s been nice, and I’ve been really nice though, pumping through and learning the steps.

Last week, I thought that I did pretty good. I think that everything really did come together, especially considering the short amount of time that we had and how tired I was. I literally will never forget how tired I was seconds before I was about to perform. I had to drink coffee… and I don’t even drink coffee. It was very fun, and I’m really grateful for Val. I know I’ve said it before, but I probably wouldn’t have gotten through it without him — being able to look at him and knowing I’m not going through everything I’m going through alone. He’s feeling exactly how I’m feeling as well. It’s a really cool experience to have a buddy to go through it with you.

I’ve learned my routine for the Foxtrot for “Big Spender” by Shirley Bassey, and it’s Vegas week! So it should definitely be more theatrical, and I get to step inside another character and outside of Normani. Everything is pretty, big and super animated with personality and character and commodity. It’s pretty cat and mouse, and I’m excited. It’s gonna be dope!

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater were on Good Day LA. They talk on Dancing With The Stars. Rashad said he is loving the experience (you can tell! I love that about him!). Lots more below including how his Dad is a double amputee. I love Rashad’s story. Thanks to @idolxfactor1 for recording and helping with this post.

PureDWTS Conspiracy Theory – Have We Finally Figured Out What Happened with the Casting in Season 21???

It’s been a year and a half, but there’s been a little itch in the back of my brain that I haven’t quite been able to scratch: what exactly happened in season 21 that led to Artem sitting the season out? Especially after he was confirmed as a pro for the season, initially? Well, 18 months later, it appears we finally have enough information to piece together a cohesive theory for what went down.  I’m finally getting to scratch that little itch 🙂

First off, a special thanks to Colleen for pointing out the line in Heather’s blog that set all of this in motion, because Heidi, Vogue, & myself often get so caught up in actually getting stuff posted for you guys that we don’t actually thoroughly process everything we read, especially if it’s a one-off sentence here and there.  Also thanks to Laura & Kimmie for helping to locate the old Val tweets, and anyone who bounced ideas off me on Twitter after some of these tidbits came to light. So let’s dive right in… Read more..

DWTS Artem Chigvintsev And Nancy Kerrigan To Meet Ricky Martin For Their Las Vegas Dance (New Interview)

Artem Chigvintsev chatted with Ice Network about Dancing With The Stars and the process so far with Nancy Kerrigan. The first few weeks have been like a honeymoon period, but, now the hard work begins. He also gives some fun hints about their “Las Vegas” dance including how they are meeting Ricky Martin. Read on….

Week Three will be very important in establishing the front runners for Season 24. The theme for next Monday’s show is Las Vegas Week. Kerrigan and Chigvintsev will be dancing a samba to a song by Ricky Martin. In advance of the performance, they’re going to Las Vegas to meet with Martin and get his input.

Chigvintsev isn’t revealing details, but he promises to keep things interesting as the season progresses, including incorporating the troupe into future dances.

“For a night like Vegas night, you want to make it bigger,” he said. “It’s entertainment. People need to be entertained. Whether it’s the great dancing or it’s the personality or a combination of both.

“I feel the show is improving every single season. What’s really cool about the show is it doesn’t just stay in the same spot.”

More of the great interview at Ice Network.

Chris Kattan And Witney Carson Talk On Being Fearless, Taking Risks, And More On Dancing With The Stars

Below is Chris Kattan and Witney Carson on Hollywood Today Love this morning talking about their partnership on Dancing With The Stars. Although different, the one thing they shared was being fearless and wanting to take risks together. I’m so glad he did the show.

DWTS Season 24, Week TWO – Dancing by the Numbers!

So, week 2 was…odd. Some things I understand – Rashad and Normani, Heather and Simone. But when you look at the scores, how on this planet do Nick and Charo get the same score? And how is Simone a full three points below the leaders and a point below Heather? Yeah, she had some hip hop in her routine, but so did Heather.

Anyway, there doesn’t appear to be a clear producer agenda just yet and that, combined with who danced in the last half hour really makes me wonder just who is getting the votes this season. It could make things very interesting through the rest of the season. They aren’t pushing the ringers super hard (yet) and that is…interesting. David getting the pimp spot is also interesting. Let’s take a look at the scores. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Maksim Chmerkovksiy Undergoes Calf Surgery

According to Maks Chmerkovksiy’s instagram, he had surgery last night for his calf. Photo below. Also below is the sweetest photo of Baby Shai sending him love and the best wishes too courtesy of Peta Murgatroyd. Speaking of Peta, she told Us Weekly on Monday that Maks is staying positive despite the circumstances. “His spirits are a little bit lifted right now, and he’s kind of looking forward to getting it (his calf) taken care of and getting it treated so he can get back out and dance.” Let’s wish Maks a speedy recovery and hope he’s back on the dance floor soon.

ETA: Sadly, Maks’ injury might be worst than he first thought. From ET….

The 37-year-old Dancing With the Stars pro star has been sidelined in the competition due to a calf injury, and will also miss week three of the competition. Chmerkovskiy’s reps tell ET that he’s currently in recovery, and the procedure he underwent to repair his calf injury went well.

However, a source tells ET that Chmerkovskiy tore his calf muscle “pretty badly,” and that he’s gotten a series of shots — not a surgery — to help recover.

“He told everyone he will be back in a couple of weeks but that isn’t true, it’s a lot worse than everyone initially thought,” the source says. “Doctors are insisting that Maks sit out for at least a month, but knowing Maks he will try and rush it and get back into the competition.”

ETA2: Another update. Thanks to Al for recording… Read more..
