DWTS Season 24, Week 8 – LIVE BLOG (Spoilers)
I’m back from NYC and oh, it was so good. I highly recommend the show Waitress – hilarious and amazing. Derek is still rooting for Rashad. Asked about Nastia being on tour Julianne made the mistake of saying she couldn’t give them (Derek and Nastia) a 10 in week 3, even though the dance was an 11 – to which the M&G audience booed. And then Derek smiled and said, “Thank you.” I know what it was – he was asked about if he ever got mad at her judging and he said one time – I believe it was Nastia’s tango. 🙂
Anyway…Derek in DA HOUSE. 🙂 Also, we’ve turned on comment moderation. You remember the rules. No one liners, and we need content. Refer to people by NAME.
There’s actual dancing in the opening dance! A step in the right direction. 🙂
Rashad’s up first. Wonder how bad he’ll get screwed to advance an agenda tonight? Or will they finally lay off?
Pretty good jive. No mistakes that I saw, solid dancing. That move at the end that looked like Derek’s crotch jump was cool.
I think Len’s foot work call is pretty BS.
Is that Nastia sitting behind the judges?
Think there should have been one 10 in there – probably the most content filled dance we’ll see tonight.
Arrogance…I mean Val is up with Normani. Sorry to hear about Normani’s experiences on social media. So are we saving the injury part for later so she can have TWO emotional packages?? They workin’ hard for her tonight.
Huh. Don’t really know what to think about that dance. I didn’t find it particularly inspired – but I did note some improvement in Val’s technique.
Oh sit down, Julianne. I have no words either but I doubt that it’s for the same reason. Need I also point out that she IS a performer so she shouldn’t have a problem being in the center and performing. And there has been no growth for her to be “beyond” – she’s always been good. As to be expected with a trained dancer.
Shocker. Perfect score. :::yawn:::
Bonner getting the crap edit. Hmmmm. Dance takes quite some time to get started. He’s not a dancer, for sure, but there didn’t seem to be lot to this dance.
Fairly kind to both Sharna and Bonner….spoke too soon. Kinda mean comment from Len – to Bonner and the audience.
Simone is too cute. And yes, great connection there at the beginning of the dance. Odd beat to this song compared to their foxtrot.
Overall, great dance from Simone and Sasha. Let’s see if she gets all 9’s to keep Normani on top.
OH BS, CAI!!! You don’t know Simone? How about not knowing Normani?? They are down talking Simone and Rashad – going over time to make sure that Normani is top tier all by herself. Makes me question if she’s actually getting votes.
OMG, the Lindsay dancing on David’s feet might kill me. I do love David. He’s making me emotional.
That was a beautiful, emotional dance from David and Lindsay – loved it.
CAI just kissed his ass – wonder if he’s going home.
Fun package from Rashad and the dance is kicking ass so far.
Okay, excellent. Very well done!!
The footwork issue is a bullshit critique when realizing that he’s dancing against a trained dancer.
Finally, a score worthy of Rashad’s dancing. Betcha Normani gets another perfect score…can’t have anyone coming close to her.
You know, that was a very good jive – but so what? The way Julianne is acting it’s like it was the recreation of a jive never done before. Do we need to remind everyone how Derek and Shawn did a country cha cha and Len called them out for having a cow in the background?
Finally, Len gets real once again. VAL, this is not about you!! Jesus, arrogant attention whore.
Bonner is unfortunately stiff. And somewhat lacking in rhythm. Ah well, he’s got handsome going for him. 😉
Sharna nearly slipped there. Jaysus, camera men you’ve been doing this for HOW long??
It occurs to me that Alan, Britt and Hayley are in trios tonight to get a read on how much popularity they might have and how they would do next season as pros. Time for a change out?
Another low score for Bonner. They sure aren’t judging him like he’s leaving…and they are judging David that way.
Great trio by Simone! Loved it. I suspect we’ll get BS critique. And….CAI is on some kind of medication with her critique. So, you want to see some other personality, yet you want her to be authentic. You want her to be herself, but she smiles too much? This is utterly ridiculous. Just insane.
Great comment by Simone – go girl. She’s definitely getting down on herself because they act like she can do nothing right, while slobbering over Normani for dances that aren’t that much better.
Those 9s are ridiculous. I can’t even with this show any more.
Hayley talks!! There’s a lot of pretty girl in this dance – two of them!
Heck…I thought that was pretty good, for a BASEBALL player. Geez. Thought it was better than 7s, honestly. All 8s would have been good.
SAFE: Normani and Val
SAFE: Simone and Sasha
David and Lindsay – SAFE
Putting Rashad in jeopardy. Interesting.
ELIMINATED: Bonner and Sharna.
After they run him down week after week, will putting Rashad in jeopardy help him or is it already too late for the sheeple?
YAYY WELCOME BACK!!!!
now that is a way to open a show :). Song choice on point too. Love the pro numbers.
@princess Heidi: I heard that show was good. Sara barrirles I think? Anyways glad u loved NYC :). But back to the show lol. I loved Rashad and Emma’s jive. Very fun and exciting and he is all of that. I’d give that a 9.
Let the BS nit picking begin. I thought Rashad killed that dance, and Emma made me tear up in the package.
Yeah, Sara Bareilles is amazing. 🙂
I loved his Jive. Didn’t like the flashing lights on the screen behind them. Cute & fun & loved the jump at the end!
The judges can suck it! I guess they are saving their 10’s for Normani.
So Derek…
Did you see him and Hayley on the Dancing ABC insta story? The tacky invasions of his privacy continue. And it looked like he totally knew it, yes? Like dang, y’all still trying to milk his fame….should have just treated him right!!
But since you didn’t, I think it’s hilarious that a World of Dance promo just popped up on his Instagram!!
Man, that had to be one of my most fave Jives ever on this show. Loved it!
No links please. Especially not on show night.
I adore Rashad. He has to be one of my all time favorite males that have been on the show. He makes me smile. That jive was great, they never stopped moving and the content was there. But we all know why he can’t get the perfect score.
I thought Rashad’s score was fair objectively, but I honestly feel that if anyone else did that routine (except Simone maybe) they would have gotten a higher score. I’m getting really annoyed at the nitpicking of him and Simone every single week.
That was a hard, content filled dance. I’ve been voting for David every single week but even if David makes it past tonight I’m turning my votes over to Rashad. He’s everything I love about this show.
I loved the opening dance number. (so stardumish).
Rashad and Emma rocked that “Jive”!!! Get off the feet kick JUDGES!!! BEST MALE JIVE THIS SEASON!!!
So with this package, Normani has guaranteed herself another perfect score. I feel bad, don’t get me wrong, no one should endure bullying in any way, but bring this up in week two instead of now. And it’s a contemporary dance, so that alone gives them the 40.
Oh Mani was bullied. Join the club. I don’t know anybody who wasn’t bullied. I’m not liking this routine. It’s too choppy. But I’m sure it’ll get a 40.
I’m already hating this package!!! Poor Poor Me!
Beautiful Comtemperary, good choreo for once!!! But, Normani—-STOP WITH THE SOB STORYLINES!!!!
#Princess Heidi Glad to know you had a safe and good time! Waitress is on my list of must sees!
I too liked the opening number-nice to see some hustle and Cha Cha dancing going on-kinda figured it had something to do with tour coming up lol
I LOVED Emma and Rashad’s jive!! I swear I don’t know what the judges see when they go on and on about his damn feet-give me a break! Maybe he was a little flat-footed but come on! Enough already! ???????
Wonderful jive. I don’t know what the judges were looking at..one of best jives ever on the show. I just want CAI to go away…anywhere…another planet would be preferable.
Ok so as much as I feel bad for what she went through, I really disliked that dance. Great song but I wasn’t feeling the choreo. Nothing really stood out to me and it kinda felt like it could have been so much better in the hands of the other male pros.
I thought Normani’s dance was okay, but when I compare it to Rashad’s jive AND Rashad’s contemporary during Most Memorable Year week it just doesn’t come close for me. Where I am struggling is that other celebrities do way more content and technically difficult dances and they get underscored yet a technically easier dance gets a perfect score. I just don’t get it. WHy don’t they just hand her the mirror ball trophy now.
It’s quite clear that they want Normani in the finals. If Rashad doesn’t make the finals to appease their agenda then I’m done with this show.
Can they just give Val the trophy already since they already decided their winner …She is a great dancer but does it as a career along with singing, are they shocked she can dance better than the non dancers?…..
Who called “tantrum from Bonner” as the manip tactic of the week. That package preview seems to prove them right. Smh.
Rashad was underscored. Normani’s dance was great but I would’ve given it a 38 rather than perfect 40. Val’ s improved some though. Less generic contemp than I’m used to seeing from him.
Oh wow. Normani(a trained dancer) does a ho hum dance and gets a perfect score. What a shock!! Stop the presses.
Oh lord Bruno’s giving Normani movie plugs jeez….
Ok is it me or did that whole routine WREAK of Mandy Moore if you’re familiar with her work from SYTYCD?! ? And I got news for you, it didn’t WOW me to be honest….
Look, back to the Heather syndrome, we all know Normani can dance-that’s not the issue. Do I buy the whole bullying story? I do and I don’t. Why are we hearing about all this now this late in the competition? For drama? For votes? Hmmm….
LOL. DWTS Twitter working overtime to pimp Normani.
It’s so transparent that you can only laugh.
Ringer did a good dance. Will I rewatch? No.
I’m genuinely becoming worried that Normani might actually win this season… please someone explain to me this will not happen. 🙁
Wow! Sharna added 5 more steps than usual.Had no idea which dance it was.Len is being honest tonight!!! Love that old man!
Bonner has improved by leaps and bounds since week one but that dance was very meh to me. It looked a bit dull and it had no hotness to it. It’s an Argentine tango. Not a good week to be Bonner with that video too. I guess I’d give that an 8 but honestly a 7 would work too.
Yes, Anon – I did get the Mandy Moore Vibe, particularly from Val.
Now I’m afraid Rashad’s Jive may have been overshadowed by Normani… Is this how Nyle fans felt like when Paige started peaking?
OMG! Len just told Bonner he should have been gone already. How completely rude and unnecessary. That was totally uncalled for.
Damn Len-Bonner’s gone a week’s too far and blame the viewers huh? Oh boy….guess we heard it from a judges mouth lol ?
Question is: will this really be his last week? I gotta say though the guy is Sooo humble you almost don’t want him to go home:(
I have no words for what Len just said. That was mean and really unnecessary Bonner is clearly not the best dancer and as he says he doesn’t claim to be but to call him out and then talk down to the audience is awful.
Rashad and Emma OK let’s start with the song was most famously danced by none other than Derek and Julianne so there’s that. Then there was confetti left on the floor. Didn’t matter they nailed it. Guess this was their week to be nit picked. Anyway I agree there should have been a 10.
Normani and Val Probably the best dance they’ve done all season. While I think Rashad deserved all 10s as well I’m fine with that score.
Bonner and Sharna- The choreography fit the song he danced it OK but it OVER emphasized his injury rather than just working with it. If this was done for his MMY fine but in week 8? Probably not her best decision. Those scores seem fair.
Have a feeling this week might not go down the way some imagine it will.
@Avery – I’m beginning to feel the same way. I’m finding it more and more difficult to believe otherwise.
#Princess Heidi and Val has a tendency to use her for choreo for contemporaries cause he can’t choreograph them for shit lol
I’m sorry but lens comment was the shittiest thing ever. And Bonner handled it with pure class. As someone who has PTSD from medical trauma I understand his anger and reluctance. I felt like there’s is a way to give constructive criticism respectfully. And he is like Noah Galloway maybe not the best dancer, but people vote for people who make them believe in themselves who they see as heroic or inspiring that they get strength from watching. I actually thought this was an improvement from last week. It’s also hard not being able to do lifts in AT.
I’m upset that the producers are trying to use Simone’s popularity to make people like Normani. And I’m really upset that she got another perfect score & over-gushing from Julianne over a highly-mediocre contemporary (they didn’t stand for Riker/Allison or Alexa/Mark’s dances which were MUCH more phenomenal contemporaries). I’ve just resigned to the fact that Simone (my favorite) will always be under-scored and nit-picked. Please America, if you won’t vote for Simone to be the winner, please let Rashad take it home. Heck, I’d prefer about anyone over Normani just because of the over-scoring and pimple (and the lack of flack for her excessive dance experience & non-existent ballroom content every week). Again, I DISLIKED her contemporary tonight. Rashad was under-scored, as expected. Gosh, I hope the producers don’t abuse Simone tonight.
Well..they’re giving Bonner an actual critique. Hmm…..makes me wonder.
Bonner isn’t the best dancer but Len did not have to act like an ass to not only Bonner but also to the viewers who are voting for him
I think Bonner handled that nasty comment with true class. He absolutely knows he’s the weakest dancer there and it is not his fault people keep voting for him. If he somehow makes it through tonight, Lens nastiness probably gained him some votes
So, I’m up “studying” and I missed Rashad (bummed about that, I was hoping he would go later on the night). I liked Normani’s dance, it just didn’t blow me away, I saw a couple of borrowed steps here and there, Val has been rewatching Bindi’s contemporary. They are really pushing for her to get to the finals… I’m sorry for her, bullying is horrible, but I just can’t get behind someone that is so blatantly pimped by the show.
I thought Bonner actually did a decent job. The package was horrible, apparently, all but Normani get frustrated at the end of the day. Ugh. Len went way too far, WTF?
Normani’s dance wasn’t bad, but didn’t really love it – it didn’t make me feel anything.
Love Sharna but I think she picked the wrong song and theme, I think Bonner could of pulled of a more sexy moody tango a lot better.
Such nitpicking going on with Simone. Guess they were told to say whatever they had to so Normani was the only one with a perfect score.
Kinda loved her reaction to the song choice lol. Oddly worked for the dance style (which to Be honest I was worried about at first). Good call Sasha! I’d easily give that a 10. These judges are headscratchers tonight for me.
I’m a younger viewer in the demographic spectrum but in all honesty, it doesn’t really appeal to me that Normani wins. Without all the whole Val’s lawsuit thing going on (what he did was pretty disgusting for a grown man with any sense to do btw), does it really appeal that a 20 year old 5H group member with loads of dance history win the show? Considering the general audience member, probably not and although some (die hard Harmonizers) might argue otherwise, I highly, highly doubt 5H is anywhere as iconic as other groups from the past like Spice Girls per say and will be relevant 2-3 years from now. Confused why they are trying to make her happen when they’ve got two other couples with partners whom are both very, very talented and seem like great people with pros who are genuinely dedicated to their partners and not just themselves as well. Heck, if not a little more love to Rashad, the fact that Simone is being put down this season is absolute BS. I think it’s pretty fair to say out of all the contestants, she’s probably the most globally relevant coming in this past year. Crossing fingers for some 10s for Rashad and Simone soon and I hope either one of them can be the winner. Hoping for one of the seasons, kinda like Donald Driver where the winner doesn’t get perfect 10s till closer to one of the last weeks.
@anonymous, I think the Normani social media bullying was pretty well documented and not just a thing they made up to get votes. That said, did TPTB keep that in the bank to milk it (rather than engineer it)? Probably.
I agree that Bonner’s plateaued and should’ve probably (okay definitely) gone last week. Still doesn’t mean that wasn’t an asshole remark on Len’s part. I expect that sorta classlessness from C Bros, not Me. Goodman.
I ADORED that foxtrot. The judges CONTINUE to unload b.s. on her. They looooved Laurie’s bubbliness but Simone gets b.s. “mmm we think it’s not really who you are can I get something different?” Gross.
@KellyK Yes, most people get bullied at least once in their lifetime but Normani was bullied because of her race. That’s different. The average bullying does not consist of calling someone the N word and telling them that they should be hung.
I hate to say this but as much as that was a great foxtrot, the judges don’t look at Simone and Sasha the way they look at Normani and Val. Just listening to the judges comments alone tells you that.
In a way, at this point, I’m almost blaming Sasha-only because he was the one who chose the song and dance for Simone. As much as I think he meant well, in his package he said he wanted to challenge her so she could get 10’s-Sasha’s gotta start thinking about what will beat Normani and Val b/c I fear they’re beating him and Simone at this point….
Loved, loved, loved Rashad and Emma’s Jive! I get that it wasn’t totally perfect. But what celeb dance that get’s straight 10’s is? Underscored again! I don’t have a problem with the 40 for Normani’s contemporary because that was a given. I just wish for an acknowledgement that there was another choreographer involved. And that other’s, Rashad and Simone, weren’t underscored. Still and always love Simone and Sasha.
That bit of nastiness from Len was uncalled for. Without this audience, and our investment plus votes, and you’d be out of a multi-million dollar contract! Please don’t forget that! Also, wasn’t it a bit mean to use Emma & Rashad’s song for a pro bumper on the same show?!!
Actually, Lola, I think many people are bullied to that level. And there is no Competition for who is bullied the worst – it’s ALL bad. I know you all have some desperate need to have Normani be best at everything, but come on.
Simone and Sasha- OK yes she needs to RELAX more but that was a good dance. Kind of tired of her getting such tough reviews when Normani has had much more dance training.
David and Lindsay Well first off guys crying because they truly touched WAAAA
Ok that’s done I don’t give a rats hiney if he is as good as the others I LOVE this guy!! Hoping he stays
Oh I just love David!! Thought he really did justice to that waltz!! He and Lindsay are, indeed, one of the most perfect pairings on this show!!
David is the heart of the show this season celeb-wise for me and that dance was a perfect example of why. Loved it and would give it a 9.
I melted when Lindsay got on David’s feet. Lovely dance all around. I think I loved that dance best of all his dances.
CAI shading Rashad in her critique. STFU
Awww loved David. Not the most technical but so sweet and lots of heart.
Unfortunately missed Rashad, enjoyed Simone but David was my favourite.
Hmm a slight dig at Bonner from Julianne, does that mean he’s defintely leaving?
Oh so now we quantify bullying? Trust me when I say, I’ve had equally disgusting things said to me as well @lola but because I’m white, it’s different? I don’t think so. My son was bullied by a child the same race as Normani. So please don’t use her race to say that her bullying is worse than what me or my son experienced. As far as I’m concerned bullying is bullying. Period.
I really appreciated Normani’s story- I feel like she’s the contestant I know the least, so I’m glad I got to know her and her background better. I liked the beginning of the dance, but I wasn’t feeling the second half. In general, its hard for me to get behind her because I feel like they are much more generous in their scoring and praise of her than with Simone and Sasha.
Bonner was overscored (again) but Len’s comment about lasting too long was inappropriate. Even though I don’t understand the appeal of Bonner, I never get the impression he’s not trying and it’s not fair to him or Sharna.
Simone’s nitpicked to death per usual. It was great, but I do wish Sasha had picked a slower more poignant song.
David’s dance made me cry. I’m so glad he did the show. I do have the sinking feeling based on his packages and the judge’s comment that he’s going home, though.
Len’s comment to the audience about Bonner makes me think that maybe Bonner is not going home tonight, and Len wants people to stop voting for him.
Beautiful dance from David and Lindsay. Judges comments just set them up…David is going home tonight.
Nothing against Bonner, but he better not stay over David.
That dance made me cry. Lindsey putting her feet on his did me in. I wish I had a father like him or a husband like him. Such a kind man.
I really didn’t like CAI bringing up Rashad’s name in her comments to David. Didn’t think it was appropriate. Well so Normani got bullied. Many of HER fans are doing the same thing to other members of the show.
I think we can go to the finals next week and give Normani the prize. I do not understand so many things and find so little respect for the show and its handlers. It seems clear that they do not want Rashad to win. Although I really like David, I don’t think he has improved more than anyone else, Rashad is also a non-dancer athlete. Once again I do not understand why Julianne is a judge – I learn nothing from her comments. Highlight: Simone’s comment to CAI and Julianne about emotion. When has the Foxtrot been all about angst? One of my favorite Fox Trot’s was Derek and Nicole and they were smiling the whole time.
So Julianne just said that this show is about taking someone who has never danced and teaching them and watching them learn and grow and yet the judges fawn all over normani who is a performer for a living and then crap on the rest of the stars that have never danced before infuriates me
Is it just me or was rashad slightly shy or awkward with Witney ?
Cmon Len! That was almost as perfect a trio AT as you could ask for!! Great choreo! Wonderful lifts!! Great job Rashad/Emma/Witney!!
Rashad trio new favourite dance of the night. Really was fantastic, but Len’s footwork comments mean no perfect score…boooo! Seriously hope Normani doesn’t get two perfect scores.
Loved the concept of that argentine trio dance!! I do still agree with Len re. Rashad’s feet a bit but he showed such strong leadership skills of both women that you just paid attention to the theme and the electricity between he, Emma and Witney. Great job!!
Darn, everything’s pointing to a David boot tonight. Len being overly harsh on Bonner AND all judges gushing over David. Would be a real shame to lose him, especially when Normani is still there.
And speaking of Normani, I had to get up off the couch and make myself a cup of tea when she started her sob story. As KellyK has already mentioned, the majority of us were bullied in some shape or form when we were younger, it was nothing but a clear ploy to try and win votes. And if you think you’re winning me over, I’ve got news for you sister – YOU’RE NOT.
This get Normani to the finals by underscoring good dancing is really pissing me off…
Now that was a trip dance. Finally he gets praise and the 10. Best dance of the season so far in my opinion
Meant trio not trip before. Ugh. Now the trio country western was actually her best in my opinion. I’d give that a 9. Bonner at the end was great too
I couldn’t even watch the whole thing of that jive shit show I’m sorry-had to walk away ???
Agree with Len’s comments about too much wasting time-what else is new with Val’s routines lol
Figures they get 3/4 tens ?
Well good on Len for calling them out on a part that wasn’t necessary!! No totes perf score for Mani tonight!
ok I actually enjoyed Normani’s dance, it was fun, probably my favourite dance of hers but still feel that Rashad was better. Thankfully Len called out Val on his time wasting. Really don’t understand why Val does it when he has such a capable partner, I don’t love it from the weak dancers but can accept it but from the strongest just seems plain lazy.
I love David and Lindsay, but the gut is going against my heart. Something tells me that they are leaving tonight after a perfect score last performance. Let’s see how the rest of the night unfolds. But, I don’t know why Bonner is staying, in my mind at least.
The SUSPENSE of it all is killing me. LOL
Ok what dancing did Bonner do in that routine?! If David goes home tonight, I am not going to be a happy camper:(
Bonners trio was fun…and by fun I mean hot. I’d give that a 8
You know, I’ve been sitting here terrified that Bonner is staying and David is going home tonight. Add the fact that I’m not the only one and now Erin telling us on camera that they had a meeting earlier today and discussed the fact that who stays and who goes depends on the audience votes……. Stinks of unhappy producers to me.
Dang! They REALLY are reminding us to vote, sounds like a shocking elim….
Just got home in time to see Normani’s trio. Was that really a jive? I didn’t really notice that many moves that I recognize as jive but then I’m not an expert. Can anyone verify the content?
In addition She didn’t seem to kicked her legs up that much & her moves didn’t seem all that quick. Granted she was wearing boots but others have done it wearing heels.
Julianne called Simone’s foxtrot safe, that’s exactly what I felt about Val’s choreography! Simple and safe, bc he can’t choreograph a proper contemp. to safe his life bc he’s never been ambitious enough to take some classes and learn some technique. Same thing when it comes to his ATs, jazz and salsa… Don’t care for them.
They judged Normani on performance, but SHE IS A PERFORMER, so of course she’s always going to be great at that. The choreo was not difficult, not impressive, not inspired. Judging her on performance alone when everyone else gets WAY MORE CONTENT & BS critiques is not fair. I have nothing against her, just wish she was paired up with somebody else…
Simone’s foxtrot represented her: light, happy, fun, and I thought her technique was better than ever! I would have given it a 10. CAI and JH are full of shit. But Sasha still has a lot of growing to do as a coach & choreographer…
Len was way out of line with Bonner, really rude and unfair for him to say what he said. He has certain limitations and he’s doing the best he can & he works hard, and he has improved. But I don’t think he’s gonna get any better, it is his time to go…
No way Bonner is leaving with these scores tonight because they are making sure to knock him out with these scores tonight counting for next week so we get a Normani’s,Simone,Rashad finale. As we should.
Alan will definitely become a pro next season because didn’t you hear, Val has been mentoring him. Insert sarcasm there!
I can’t believe its anyone but Bonner going home… do the judges actually know who’s leaving? I’ve read some people say they do know but does anyone know if that’s a fact?
I think Simone did a great job keeping up with a pro in that dance. Going to vote for Simone now.
Same here Anonymous, I can’t stand to see Bonner take someone else’s place. He’s boring as hell and he ain’t getting any better. Kinda like stale bread… its just there.
?
Loved Simone’s trio. Easily would have given that a 10. I’m really hoping that she is pulling in the votes like crazy becuase the scores were not exactly What I expected
I think Simone just hit her limit on how much unnecessary nitpicking she can take from the judges, and that’s heartbreaking because Simone deserved much better than all that BS.
The judges sure are tearing everyone down this week except Normani. It was very obvious Bonner and Simone were upset. And kudos to Simone for her reply when asked why she wasn’t smiling.
David SLAYED THAT PD
David’s dancing may not be the best, but I really enjoy his dances. I love how he embraces the experience and really throws himself into every dance.
Donner deserved at least 8’s as I thought his dance was one of his best.
Loved Simone & Sasha in their practicing package and their beautifully done A.T. But, for heaven’s sake…. deserved a 10 or two!!!!! What’s with the little kid stuff, Len??? You judges didn’t treat Laurie like you do Simone last year!!! Laurie was 16 and Simone is 20.
Beautiful Waltz by David & Lindsay. Lindsay would make anyone look good with her beauty, dancing and choreo. Great job Lindsay!!! Loved watching David handle her like she was a butterfly. But, no where close to Simone & Sasha’s dance or Rashad & Emma’s!! Simone & Rashad must be getting a lot of votes!!!!
Trio Dances:
Loved Rashad and his two ladies!! He definately rocked that Trio A.T.!!!
Good Jive by Alan, Normani and Val! For a trained dancer she did great! But, like JAH, why the need for guys to undress? It was Normani who was suppose to stand out!! Oh, brother, Val mentor Alan!!! He’ll turn him into one of the “Fam” and ruin him. He seems more like the Derek type in personality.
Was not connecting to that Jazz dance. Not enough dance moves for Bonner.
Choreo was cute but safe.
I agree with Len…no P.D. by David. Girls were awesome though. He certainly did one thing better than Simone—-David kept the stern look! 🙂
I liked it, tbh. If David leaves, I’ll be highly disappointed because David is better than Bonner. I thought it was a good dance. Not sure why he’s being low balled.
Well I hate to say it but you can’t compare Simone’s paso to David’s paso lol but his was certainly very dramatic while hers had sooooo much content and technique-not that the judges noticed ?
Damn, did Bonner pissed the production off this week? Or are they really that scared that he may take someone’s (Normani’s I guess) place in the finals?
The last couple of weeks completely ruined Normani and Val for me, so I can’t even appreciate them doing well. Especially when it’s at other couples’ expense. “We want to be surprised. It’s too safe.” to Simone? What? Because Normani’s Salsa wasn’t what she does almost every concert? And Simone seems over it.
Rashad and Emma are awesome as always.
I love Lindsay and David.
Loved Simone and Sasha…would give it a 10 but David and Lindsay….yikes. 7 is about right there. Loved the song though
David’s first score notwithstanding, the judges seem to be working overtime to get the men out.
Ok good..it was Bonners time to go. If it were Rashad, I was gonna go postal! Hope Mani goes next week!!!!
Ok Bonner’s going home!! Poor guy:(( He really did give it his all and he was just Sooo humble throughout the whole process but it was definitely his time!
I actually agree with Len on Rashad’s footwork, he shuffles his feet and takes to many steps sometimes, that bothered me in his contemporary as well. He has everything, but he NEEDS to smooth out the footwork & make it cleaner & more precise. But in this dance, it absolutely did not bother me! It would be a perfect score for me. I love what Witney brings to her trios!
I would vote for Simone, you never know how many votes David is getting and it would be a shame to see her eliminated before the finals!! I have a feeling her attitude about not getting tens didn’t bode well.
I was enjoying this season until this week. That might have been the most bullshit scoring I’ve seen in a long time. Those trio scores were insane. I honestly don’t understand what they are getting out of constantly trashing Rashad and Simone? It’s clear that it’s affecting them, especially SImone. I know others feel differently but I think the constant praise of Normani (when’s the last time she got an actual critique?) and underscoring of Rashad and Simone is working. I had hopes for a Rashad win, but right now I fully expect Normani and Val to be holding that trophy.
I am so proud of David. He’s been one of my favorite contestants on the show ever, but now that it’s finale time I’m switching my votes to Rashad. There is a high likelihood I won’t watch the rest of the season live, though.
After Simone’s dance I was sure she was going to get perfect scores. Like honestly her dancing is the same as normanis. What is there to critique. aLso lovely to see Britney in a trio she has such beautiful ballroom form. But yes I’m starting to sway from rashad to Simone I’m getting so sick of the way she’s being treated it’s Nastia all over again.
I really love normanis dancing I think she dances so beautiful but I’d rather have rashad or Simone win.
This is the first year that I really been disappointed in the show. Everyone was criticized and nit picked except Normani. Even a non dancer like myself can see the total bias of the show. I doubt I will watch anymore this season. Maybe next season, the powers that be will come to their senses.
Correct result, but I find it a bit of shame he didn’t have a better night and go out on a high. Seemed a bit of a strange week for him, though maybe thats just my impression because of the edit, but I think he’s had better dances, last weeks rumba dance off being one example.
I am so ready for this season to be over! Why not start the Bachelorette a week early and just give Val, ooops I mean, Normani, the trophy! Everyone else gets nitpicked to death, while the one with actual dance training and performing experience, gets unceasing praise!
I feel like Simone is about ready to throw in the towel! Laurie was an upbeat person and I don’t recall this constant harping about it; kinda feels like the Nastia treatment (minus the edited package). Loved when Simone threw the shade at CAI! You go girl! Mani might get the tacky MBT, but you have the real ?!
And I dunno I still feel like Alan’s not ready yet for pro. Maybe two more seasons. I think Britt is still too new. And Haley I think her form wasnt as good as Lindsays sometimes her shaping and form were weak and slightly faltered. And Brittany for whatever reason isn’t desired by tptb. So I dunno :/
I am sooooo pleased to be wrong! David is moving on to semis and deservedly so. I saw so much improvement in his dancing tonight and he made me tear up with that waltz. Looked like Hayley, Lindsay and him had a great time with the trio. He’s such a nice guy.
The only other trio I watched was Simone and it was truly enjoyable- especially good when you consider she’s the only female dancing with a female trio partner. The judges should be roasted alive for what they are doing to this poor kid. Loved her gold medal comment- chin up girl, this show is just manipulated crap with a gaudy trophy given out to the Chosen One. You, however, have several Olympic Gold Medals! I’m sure you know what is worth more and more special in the long run…
The judges were actually quite mean this week, except for Normani and Val of course!
They force Simone to dance with a female professional dancer (nobody else had to) and then Carrie Ann gets angry that she smiled during her foxtrot, but then applauds her for smiling during her dramatic Paso Doble, but then takes a point off because Simone WAS ON THE BEAT
They give Rashad four nines because his footwork wasn’t perfect in his jive (which was true) yet give Normani three tens when she doesn’t point her toes in her jive (which includes a lot of messing around)
Anyway… I’m very happy with who is going to the semifinals
Another thing … all of the 1st round packages were all about why the pro picked the song for the celeb and their journey on DWTS, except Normani and Val’s package, which had nothing to do with DWTS (I’m sure it was a terrible experience for Normani) but it didn’t really make sense in context
Simone and Sasha’s dance P.D. was great because do to the fact that she had another lady pro to keep in sync with, and also her pro partner. Again, should have gotten a couple 10’s.
I think Rashad’s dances were underscored along with Simone’s. Wow! TPTB must be concerned for their “chosen one.”
Bonner going home should have happened before Nancy, and David should be next.
Yep!! So obvious the manipulation!!! If Val gets another Ball, I will be totally sick and need my barf bag.
I have my desktop in my L.R. now where TV is and a waste basket with a plastic bag, just in case I get sick last week on Tuesday night.
I love to watch dancing and love the show, but TPTB better wise up and quit with the manipulation and just let things flow on their own.
Voting for Rashad…to me he’s the only dancer that hasc danced with techniques, artistry, and good story telling, the women contests seems to be just flouncing around a lot, especially normani, and the other men seems to be fumbling around a lot, Rashad still has a good chance, his season reminds me a lot of Donald Drivers when he won…he was always huverring around second to third place, and never got a perfect score from Len til the last week or two if u remember and he pulled off the win in the end, I’m going on line now to dump some votes on him. Tonights judges scores has 1.Normani 2. Rashad 3. Simone 4. David.
Chayse, I agree with you. The constant nitpicking is getting to Simone and to a lesser extent Rashad. I have a bad feeling Simone is out of the finals to make way for the chosen one.
I said this in response to Kristyn Burtt’s bullying post a couple years ago, but it feels very relevant now. If DWTS cares at all about combatting bullying, they should look in the mirror first. Too many times (and tonight was especially bad) judges go way below the belt in search of that elusive one liner instead of trying for a good critique. To borrow one of my favorite mean girls quotes “You guys have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores.” By leveling usually pointless and occasionally cruel critiques, they’re kind of validating some of the online hate. Instead, if they could find it within themselves to constructively criticize, it would show that you can be critical of a person without being a bully.
Sorry for the rant and if it was high-horsey (is that an adjective? I just made it one). I’ve had just about enough of these BS critiques and had to get it out.
I had to remind my wife that every point Simone and Rashad don’t get from the judges makes it easier for Normani and Val.
A lot of the judges’ reasoning was very suspect. CAI calling for Simone to be off the beat – so then she can come back and say you missed the beat?
Absolutely loved Simone’s comeback – you don’t win gold medals by smiling. Yes, CAI, facepalm yourself after that comment because that’s what Simone did say to you!
And the comment to Bonner – I lost a lot of respect for Len by his saying what he did. Bonner isn’t the one voting!
Watching Simone’s reaction to being called safe was telling. She really didn’t seem that excited. I think she has had enuf of the BS. I know I have. Please prod, if u want VAl to win that bad just stop the season now and stop wasting our time.
Hoping Rashad for the win, Simone second and would be happy with David Third and Normani eliminated next week. Doubt thats going to happen though, especially not with the judges overscoring of Normani.
I’m with ya Laura.
Ya know what I’m over this…Val better NOT be getting another mirrorball, this is very frustrating to watch the manipulation going on. Go team shadsquad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven’t watched the results yet but I read that Rashad was in jeopardy. I actually wasn’t surprised bc someone online had predicted he’d be in jeopardy this week. He hadn’t been in jeopardy yet, had he? So I think it makes sense. They wouldn’t put David or the girls in jeopardy again, so that leaves Rashad. I don’t think it means anything, but I hope it will make his fans vote even harder.
Simone had two fantastic dances, that I enjoyed a lot more than Normani’s, but they just won’t give her 10s… A mediocre contemp. gets 10s for performance alone… Whatever.
Hope she doesn’t bite the bait & give producers material for a package of her being frustated that they can use against her…
I missed the show tonight so I just caught up on Rashad’s Jive and the Menage a Shad Argentine Tango! Woohoo… hot. First of all I thought Rashad’s footwork on the Jive was the best he’s done all season, nice tight turns lots of content, maybe he got a little tired but man, just thinking about how much harder a big guy has to work to get really crisp and he did it! That was a lot of fun. Loved the Blues Brothers outfits. As for the AT the concept was gorgeous, similar to the black and white Foxtrot concept that Mark did with Emma and Sadie, but this was very sensual the guy is smokin’ I thought Rashad’s footwork on the AT was a bit wonky, he takes these huge steps, I am glad that Emma toned down Witney’s need to climb all over her celebrity partner so the one strength lift had so much more impact than the Trio Salsa with Calvin last season. I would have given some 10’s for the Jive. I thought the AT score was about right.
As for Rashad and jeopardy. Well my thought on it was I was a bit worried since Rashad doesn’t have the base that David and Simone are carrying into this show. If I am correct neither David or Simone have been in jeopardy. Right now, either the show runners are wanting Normani in the finale and Rashad is spoiling it. Or the showrunners have done all they can for Normani to push her to the end. . If peeeps want Rashad in the finale then they gotta vote like hell because the show is making it difficult for him. David got a huge boost with 60 minutes last night doing a full 15 on the marvelous Chicago Cubs and how the manager chose them for their personality as much as their skills. David was not specifically mentioned, but his picture came up a few times.
I’m hoping Val is taking next season off, when he responded to not doing the summer tour, it also sounded like he might take next season off also. I find it really annoying how he and Val think they can “make Alan a pro” by giving their seal of approval, I actually find it kind of degrading to Alan (he doesn’t need the C-Bros to become a pro)
I would love Alan to replace Val as a pro, I think he’ll do a much better job
Agree Mai, especially about Rashad.
Val and his smug mug is just lapping this all up. He knows that he’s getting special treatment and that everyone is talking about it. I can’t stand his face on my television any longer.
I wonder what this means for Rashad and Emma? They are the only reason that I’m watching this season so when they are go so do I.
Thanks mods for all you do. This season has been a crappola mess of BS. And you gals have to sort through this nonsense. So thanks again.
Wait they told simone to smile less in the foxtrot but more in the Paso? Okay that seems a little backwards to me.
Thank the lord!!! Bonners a goner!
Woops hit publish too early …
Glad he left and not David. Made my semi finals so much more interesting and its nice to see Sharna NOT be in the final 3 for a change. Now if only Val… followed suit.
Praying to the DWTS Gods that Rashad is safe and wins. ???
I think the excessive criticism of Simone is maybe an attempt to justify a “shocking elimination”… But I like how Len said she was his favorite. CAI and JH are still full of shit.
I wonder if they were more positive with David because they like to be “right.” Maybe the producers have realized that he’ll make it to the finals, and they don’t want the judges to look stupid. I loved David’s first dance and their package – Lindsay has been awesome with him this season.
Simone was brilliant tonight. What is wrong with the judges? I do not understand why the producers want Val to win so badly. The nitpicking is definitely wearing on Simone and Rashad. Maybe Normani is doing so badly with votes that they have to prop her up that much to give her a chance to make the finals? Maybe they are desperately pushing her as far as possible just like they did with Heather.
Once again, I liked Alan better than the Chmerkoskiy with the celeb. I thought Alan did well in the trio.
I watched Simone’s Foxtrot back and the only complaint I have is the music sucks for a Foxtrot. Also, I wished Sasha would give her more Foxtrot, I mean I saw Tango marches, cha cha grapevine swizzles, that’s not Foxtrot, it’s throwing in choreography that goes with the music I suppose. But some nice pivots or feather steps or a tellemark might have warmed me more to this. None of that is Simone’s fault. Everything she did was flawless.
As for the Paso Doble, I thought she wasn’t well served by the dark lighting, the costumes were gorgeous, but why not put her in something vibrant? As for the dancing, I thought this was Simone’s best dance. I loved her commitment to the piece. Her precision is what the Paso Doble requires and she delivered. So many go soft on the arms or the chaissez capes shaping and that was not in her dance vocabulary. I only wished she was highlighted more. By putting everyone in the same color we saw no contrast. She is definitely strong enough to have pulled it off, and I’m disappointed Sasha didn’t believe it.
I meant to say “twizzles” not swizzles. Grapevine is in Foxtrot, just not the way they did it.
I think that it may be a case of wanting to be right. David has a big campaign behind him, much like Driver did. He’s going to knock someone more deserving out and the clowns have insured that it’s not going to be Normani. That leaves Simone or Rashad. They’ve done a good job of deflating both of them as much as they could without looking even more stupid than they already do.
Normani did a wonderful job keeping up with another female pro. That is something the others never had to do. And given the constant criticism even sometimes contradicting she gets I would have applauded if she would have told them what she really thought of their critiques (or just held up her middle finger). She is definitely over this nonsense and that is a shame because she is such an upbeat person. Since when is the Foxtrot supposed to be such a serious dance?
Normani’s jive didn’t have that many moves that I recognized as jive. Am I the only one that feels that way? Normani is a wonderful performer but it doesn’t seem like she had to do anything particularly complicated in that jive. She did some weird country line dance on the desk that didn’t seem like jive anymore than Heather’s hip hop break down. In fact I liked Heather’s jive from week 2 much better.
@Marintx I don’t think they ever pushed Heather as hard as they are doing Normani. I think it is like Princess Heidi said in a previous post they could only afford one ringer per season & dumped Heather in favor of Normani because Heather was the target of so much indignation for her dance experience whereas most people didn’t know about Normani’s experience until much later (if the GA realizes the extent of her experience at all). Normani migh have been getting more votes or ABC decided the potential to bring in a younger audience was greater with her. Or maybe they just decided to kiss the A of Val instead of Maks.
Correction to my earlier comment post #131 I meant to say Simone did a wonderful job keeping up with the female pro. Sorry about that.
I seriously tried to watch Normani and Val, David and Lindsay, Bonner and Sharna, and seriously I had to flip through them they just don’t grab me at all. I’d be fine with either Rashad or Simone taking this. Rashad has made me smile tonight, he always seems to bring out an emotional response… and Simone blew me away with her Paso Doble technique this week. I hope she really gets a moment without any gymnastics or tricks, just pure dance with maybe a bit better choreography. Sorry Sasha, just not feeling you yet this season.
Normani has been over scored for way too long.. and Rashad & Simone definitely don’t deserve this underscoring! But to reply to the comments about Normani’s bullying… as a black girl being called the n word is really damaging. Experiencing racism is definitely not something that should anyone should endure, especially in 2017. But as we know… people want to believe “rasicm doesn’t exist”. Pretty ridiculous people could make pictures of her hanged and all sorts of disgusting things. Coming from a family whose family member was hanged, I just can’t understand how any person could make jokes and pick on someone like that.
@Michael #133…& marintx #130 concerning Alan. I would love to see what he can do with his own partner next season. I just hope he keeps his nice personality and doesn’t acquire any of Val’s. I love to watch Alan dance and I think he does good choreo. We could use a mixture of Derek & Mark, as I feel the show is desperately losing some ratings since they have been gone.
•Tom Bergeron I dont like his outfit. Look like Grey mouse…
•Erin Andrews made big progress with dressing stile…
Was Normani’s belt buckle open that whole time?!
That DWTS Swiffer ad aired after Bonner’s first dance and it is really weird. It is distractingly hi def until CAI comes into “focus,” then it is like Vaseline lens trick all over the place. I want to see some connections, CAI! Show some authenticity!
I was just fuming tonight. Simone is a wonderful dancer and they’re just shitting all over her. I feel so bad for her. Same with the nitpicking for Rashad while Normani is being over-praised.
I agree marintx – I felt like they finally realized that David will make the finals so are being a little more positive towards him. They’re doing their best to make sure Normani will be in the finals. I really don’t think she’s getting a ton of votes but by putting down Simone and throwing out 10’s and gushing over Normani, guess it’s a done deal. I sure hope not!
I came into dwts at a bad time. Last season was the first time I’d watched in years. James was so good they had to work hard to give him 9s and work extra hard to give Laurie her 10s. and that made this season all the worse. Now it’s not just 1 judge fighting to explain a 9 but sometimes 3 or even all 4.
Bonner isn’t a dancer. We know; he knows. Normani saying he’s the perfect gentleman summarizes just how gracious he is in the face of such trash talking. (So far the only time I cared for Normani.) At the end, when he says “I found out how much I can take,” I felt that was a polite way of telling off the judges. I suspect there’s a reason he didn’t give the usual line about the wonderful memories he’ll have if his time in the show.
Re: simone, she was bullied too. Glad she didn’t bother fake smiling at the meager compliments after her trio. Sasha’s at the end of his rope too, I think. They gave more compliments and shining scores to terra.
Re: rashad, I hope this helps him get picked by a good football team, especially since he says all that dance training has really transferred over. it would make up for the rest of this BS.
Re: David, go you! he’s not a great dancer, but he gets those votes for different reasons. He’s older than the others so I think he’s able to swallow the bitterness better. Not that he should have to. I don’t follow baseball but it would be awesome if the game coincided with Dwts again and they put his dance up so all the fans (or even opposing team) could vote.
I read here last season that it’s traditional that all the finalists get 10s in their freestyle. I wonder if this season will be the exception.
After watching the show(sorta illegally, I’m a 32 year old Brit with a love of dancing reality TV shows), I’m feeling kinda worried for David- he has a seven point disadvantage against Simone. I have run the numbers(maths nerd BTW) and it isn’t looking easy for David. I would love to have our dream final, but am becoming more concerned that Val will encroach on that. Its a shame Val is paired with Normani, as I think she is probably the best dancer overall, but I cannot stomach Val coasting through to the finals with his pedestrian, repetitive choreography and his supercilious, cock-sure(nearly wrote short by accident 😉 . Would have been an apt description considering the amount of socks he stuffed up his pants for that “fauxmenco” he did with Kelly) personality. It reminds me of Maks & Meryl and (season 12) Mark & Chelsea(his problem was attitude but his choreo was killer). Before anyone thinks I am hatiing on Mark, he was/is my favourite ever pro, with Derek a close second.
Eagerly anticipating Court’s exxemplary Power Rankings and Heidi’s DBTN 🙂
I fear for Rashad, or is it just me panicking ? I so want him to win but the other 3 have massive voting fan bases. The videos of the dances each week they all get many more views than Rashads do. I note that the judges tend to ‘opt out’ to a small degree in final with everyone getting 9’s and 10’s for everything. With the judges vote less critical I’m not convinced Rashad has anywhere enough voting power to overcome Normani and Simone – or David for that matter.
Simone is starting to look defeated I’m afraid and Sasha needs to SERIOUSLY step it up if he wants an even chance in the semifinals and finals b/c, at this point, the producers agenda has become soooo clear it’s not even funny.
I’m still banking on Rashad to pull through and win this thing ?????? but if Sasha can work some magic over, with some awesome choreo, maybe just maybe, he and Simone can pull the rug over Val and Normani’s eyes. Tell you the truth though, I think it might be a long shot, with Normani and Val’s followers, as well as the judges blatant favoritism and the producers goal to have Val win that damn mirrorball ?
Sophie, it’s not you. We put comments on moderation due to an influx of trolls currently.
I’m so tired so the judges criticizing Simone and her emotions. It’s starting to feel like bullying, especially when she was showing visible emotion that she was mad and frustrated after the paso and they ask “why aren’t you smiling?” She cried during her waltz, which was what that dance was about, her foxtrot was a fun dance that was danced like she was a professional. Personally I don’t want every dance from all of them to be a cry fest or about some hard time in their lives, that to me is not what the show is about. She is a great dancer and performer and her personality shines through each week and if the judges don’t see it, that’s because they don’t want to see it. I mean telling someone they are too on the beat? That was crazy. Sorry rant over I just like watching the show for good performances not all the other BS and they way they are treating her may make other celebs think twice about doing the show, but seems the producers don’t agree.
Sophie#144
You made me laugh with the “cock-sure” and the description of Val with socks stuffed in his pants for his “fauxmenco” with Kelly. Cheers, thanks a lot! ??
I would just love for Normani and Val to be pushed out of the finals by David for a Rashad/Simone/David final. It’s not that Normani isn’t a good dancer, because she IS, being trained in dance since age 3. And of course she’s a natural performer because it’s what she is PAID to do! SMH.
Val gets to phone it in with lame choreo season after season and never gets challenged by a partner who doesn’t already have an extensive history of dance training/massive ringer and heavy pimping by TPTB to get to the finals! And should they win, I think I’ll be done watching this train wreck of a show, it’ll be MY final straw.
Jamie, I personally wouldn’t worry about Rashad. I think out of all the contestants, he is the safest as he is the one with the
least cons: he is popular, he isn’t as hosed as Simone and he is great. I think that whilst Rashad came in with the smallest fanbases, he is endearing himself to the general audience more than Normani. I have seen this show for quite a while and I would be incredibly surprised if he was eliminated. If it was by votes alone, Normani would leave next week, not Rashad ☺. I wouldn’t use YouTube views as a metric for votes- look at Hayes Grier in Series 21 or Bethany Mota in Series 19- if it was based off YouTube views, they would have not left prematurely. But, the main demographic is what each contestant needs to win. And as someone who didn’t know any of these celebrities before the show, Rashad and David have been the most likeable. I can’t see Rashad leaving- you don’t need to worry ☺
After reflecting a bit, I think V and N are getting the Derek and whoever is his partner treatment: make sure they get to 4th for the ratings but we have to have someone who is doing the tour win. Only problem is with Derek, they had to find ways to tear them down. With V and N, they have to find a way to build them up. I guess more young ladies think V is a hunk, than think Sasha is a hunk.
I can’t wait for Power Ratings, because I think David may just make it through to Finals. Would also love to see an analysis of who received the most air time last night. Thanks, and have a wonderful day everybody!
Jamie, Rashad has twice the views as David does from last night dances..if you currently go to YouTube, I actually pay attention to that as well and he generally has more views than David, although last week was close, his trio is doubling Davids views and the other dance is tripling Davids, its something I use to interpret the way viewer voting might be going
Rashad/Emma Jive -It was good but I guess after last weeks dance off Jive I expected more. I think he overall did a really good job.
Normani/Val Contemporary – Another pitty video package to try and gain the sympathy vote. I thought the concept was a good concept a decent dance probably one of my favorite ones of hers from this season (behind Mulan). That being said can the show make it anymore obvious they want her to win.
– Did anyone else find it ironic her package was about cyber bullying when her fans seem to be come of the worse cyber bullies in DWTS history?!
Bonner/Sharna – Video package was not favorable I think it told the story but I also think there could have been more. Len’s a grade A jerk (notice even Julianne said Len when he made the comment). Not only was it rude to ignorant to Bonner but he pretty much called out the fans of the show. I mean I’m a huge Sharna fan and I agree he probably was here longer than he should have been but that’s because he related to the fans.
Simone/Sasha – I don’t know if the song fit the dance but I think it was a decent job. I think they see her as a real threat to Normani which is why they were so harsh on her. Crazy they knit pick her and Rashad who aren’t professionals but not the one with dance experience.
David/Lindsay – loved this song and dance. Nothing else needs to be said it was my favorite.
Trios
Rashad/Emma/Whit -I really enjoyed this dance, the beginning was a little too separate for a trio for me but I liked the dance as a whole.
Normani/Val/Alan – Honestly, I wasn’t impressed, I thought it was a little flat. I was excited because I thought Alan would bring a lot to this dance but … I think it was way over scored but then again it’s the chosen one so ..
Bonner/Sharna/Brit – ?! I’m guessing Sharna ran out of dances B was capable of. Not much dancing although the concept was good and it was hot. (I call bull on the inappropriate I think Len was right when he said he’s too old – David’s Magic Mike, Jana’s Shower Dance …)
Simone/Sasha/Brit – Why was she the only one to get a same sex trio partner?! That’s a disadvantage right there (oh wait never mind trying to make her less of a threat to Normani got it). Again, harsh with the critiques, I loved when she came at CAI – Smiling doesn’t win me Gold Medals.
David/Lindsay/Britt – umm yea that was a hot mess. I really disappointed since Lindsay has been a part of some great trios.
-Bonner elimination. I’m a fan but I was ready for it and ok with it. I’m hoping putting Rashad in jeopardy will kick his votes up a notch. I know I’m switching over to voting for him fully now.
*side note anyone else catch Bonner’s shade towards Len at the end – looks him dead in the eye and says shows me how much as a person I can take*
I find the YouTube viewing not a good indicator. If you watch the show and voted, most people I know don’t watch on YouTube again. If they want to watch again, they DVRed it. If you wait to watch the YouTube dances, its to late to vote. That’s my opinion for what it’s worth. Go David!
For the last two weeks I’ve been feeling like the judges are ruining the experience for some of the Celebs! And today they (specially CAI and Len) went overboard. Really, there is no need to be such a mean bully. Specially at this point in the competition when celebs are tired, nervous, etc. The best part about this show is watching how the experience affects celebs and I don’t understand why the judges are working so hard trying to ruin that. Specially with Simone, Bonner, Nick..
This show the last couple of weeks has been frustrating. Between the predictability and the crazy critiques, it’s been kind of a turn off. I think most of the feedback to Simone doesn’t make any sense. First they want her to show more emotion, then she shows emotion and it’s fake, then they want less emotion. Like, what the heck do they want? No wonder she looked frustrated and I don’t blame her. Definitely felt bad for her last night, so I gave her a few more votes.
I’m also over the nitpicking of Rashad. The guy goes out there, gives it his all, and looks like he’s having a blast every week. I won’t lie and say I didn’t notice his feet in that jive, but to me they didn’t take away from the dance. I’d have given him a 10.
I don’t dislike Normani. She seems like a very sweet girl, and if she were with any other partner I’d probably be okay with her winning. I’m just not a fan of Val. Anyways, I’d be okay with her in the Top 3, along with Simone and Rashad (though I do love David too), but I really don’t want Normani to win.
So last week pissed me off and this week is worse. Rashad’ jive was great the nitpicking has reached a new level of BS content. They did the same thing to Calvin. Normani’s contemporary was well-performed but it did not elicit an emotional response like I felt from Rashad’s or Simone’s. I loved David’s waltz Lindsay’s choreography and their connection is beautiful. Bonners AT was okay. What Len said was horrible. Its clear that Bonner is still there because the audience likes him thats how the show works. Bonner works hard to rise above his limitations he really is an inspiring person. Simones foxtrot was awesome. I feel really bad for Simone. I don’t understand why the judges are being so mean to Simone. They really are grasping at straws with comments criticizing being on the beat. Simone is a beautiful dancer and is definitely much more expressive than she was at the beginning.
As far as the trios go I liked Simones, again judges critique really nit picky and annoying. I think she is totally over this whole experience and I liked her comment to CAI. Rashad’s AT was great, again BS from judges. Bonner’s was ok. I loved David’s commitment to his character in this dance, technically not great but I still enjoyed it. Normani’s jive was kind of meh, for me. I thought shirt removal unnecessary and distracting and that was way too long to dance on the judges table.
Normani has been consistently overscored. Her dancing is the same as it was at the beginning of the season. I am sympathetic to her experience of being bullied. I was bullied and it is devastating. Everyone has struggles but hers have been over-emphasized. In the beginning it was the travel, last week the injury, this week bullying. Quite a few of the other contestants on this show have had struggles equal too or exceeding hers and they aren’t getting the feel sorry for me treatment. It’s pretty clear TPTB want her and Val to win and it’s ruining the show for me.
Jose, figure out a way to not come across as an arrogant asshole and then maybe your comments will see the light of day. You should not be telling anyone how they should think, feel, act, or vote towards Normani.
Last night was fairly simple, get Normani to the final at all costs and let everyone else fight it out for themselves.
Power rankings are up:

If this show were just about dancing Normani would win, heck even Heather would still be there. We wouldn’t have the David’s, James, and Rashads to begin with because they have no training. It’s at times so confusing to hear the judges critique and the fans opinions because more often than not we aren’t talking about the same things. Is this show for entertainment? For dance? For a good heartwarming story? For me it’s a combination of all three, it’s not SYTYCD. So, put in perspective, I ask myself whose the most entertaining, heartwarming, and can do the dancing part justice and usually the answer is not the best dancer. Maybe they need a mix of judges who focus on different nuances of performance.
I liked Simones dances, the girl is doing the best she can and that’s a lot. Rashad is the whole package for me, he gives me joy. Normani is typical, predictable. David is a hoot, like the guy next door who enjoys living. I don’t know who will win, but I really hope it’s someone who embodies what DWTS is all about.
The judges have been annoying me all season, but last night they crossed a line with just how mean they were to some contestants. I normally have fun and feel happy watching DWTS, but I actually felt sad when the show was over. The judges really ruined it for me last night.
I thought Len’s critique of Bonner was one of the meanest things I’ve ever heard a judge say on the show. Of course every contestant on the show is going to try his/her best and ask people to vote for him/her. That’s the whole point of the competition. To so rudely come after someone because he has tried hard and been successful up to this point is just mean and also stupid. What does Len expect? Why would Bonner even participate in this competition if he didn’t intend to try his best and try to get as many people to vote for him as possible?
My heart broke for Simone last night. They have been so harsh on her this whole season, and it seems like it’s sucking the fun out of it for her. I found it especially cruel that they piled on with a whole bunch of negative comments and then asked her why she wasn’t smiling. It strikes me as being similar to a school bully saying to another student “You’re ugly and nobody likes you,” and then when the kid starts crying saying “Why aren’t you thanking us for letting you know?” I feel like Simone probably had high hopes of this being a great experience after seeing how great it was for Laurie, and then she goes on the show and they treat her like this. I heard her say in a post show interview that she almost ran to the bathroom to cry during the show. The judges really should be ashamed of themselves for the way they’re ruining this for her.
I would like a Rashad, Simone and David finale. I think the show runners made sure that Normani has squirrelled her way in there so I’m not optimistic.
I was waiting to hear what Courtney had to say… And it’s exactly what I thought.
Last night my favorite happy feel good show ended up being the painful feel bad show and one that I can barely watch. It makes me sad to say that.
I hope the fans are rallying behind Rashad and Simone we don’t need to put up with the judges BS, we can overcome!
Wow what a night !
Loved loved loved David and Lindsay’s waltz. Lindsay is a GENIUS. What makes her so incredible is really her ability to connect with her partners. I think their partnership this season is really unrivaled, and she continues to amaze me each season.
I gotta agree with Casanova Comment #137. I am not feeling Sasha as much as I had hoped I would at the start of the season. I feel like if Simone had another partner, she would have danced more outstanding dances. I’m not saying she hasn’t danced well at all, I’m just saying they haven’t WOWED us. Even Rashad has had the one dance- his contemporary.
I feel like Emma has also done okay. But that’s only because her partner is Rashad! Anyone who partners Rashad or Simone is bound to have good scores and great routines. But I feel like their potential hasn’t been fully unlocked. I feel like Lindsay or even Sharna would have definitely have unlocked their magic further.
I do hope the finals will consist of Simone Rashad and David!! Normani is a brilliant dancer, but man, I used to think everyone’s reactions towards the biased treatment towards Val was a little strong, but this season, with the nitpicking of Simone, and N’s constant top scores, it’s become extremely evident. You would think with his previous season mirror ball, they would back off a little
I don’t feel like the judges are nitpicking Rashad to death. His feet really weren’t perfect. And he’s still been getting good scores. Better scores than Simone certainly. So it’s not so bad for him. But nitpicking simone to death? DEFINITELY. Kinda felt something for her this week that in all previous weeks I never felt for her. She’s never warmed up to me somehow, did feel the disconnect, but this week I’ve thrown votes her way because SHE DESERVES IT.
I enjoyed the show but have to wonder how Val keeps getting the gals who have been bullied – as in Rumor, and the teary eyed crap to go along with it. This is a dance show not a mental health site. Cant they just dance and get on with it. I feel they are getting all of the good treatment and Simone and Rashid are working hard to stay in it and doing a fine job. CAI sucks big time as well as Len. They are always talking about judging the dance!!! then they come out with this stuff about emotions. Come on lets get some new judges.
After rewatching Normani and Val’s contemporary dance I finally can pinpoint what didnt click for me. She is feeling it emotionally but dance worse it looks like auto pilot which doesn’t help when choreo Is mediocre.
Dance wise not dance worse
Arethas, go read my comment on the Power Rankings for my response to your comment about Rashad – I don’t have the energy to type it up again.
I used to enjoy DWTS,then they brought Erin Andrews who has a voice that could peel paint. She’s nice looking but that voice! Then, it was Julieanne Hough who joined the show, why? Len, Carrie Ann and Bruno were always great together so there was no need to add Julieann except that she is blonde? I rarely, rarely watch, first because of those 2 unnecessary women and second because who are these star? Never heard of any of these people except for Simone.
stars????
I HATED that they told Simone that she was too ON the beat. What does that even mean? If she weren’t so crisp on the beat, they’d tell her she was messy because they’re looking for ANYTHING to tear her down. As far as her smiling too much, maybe that actually IS who she is. She’s a happy, confident person. “I don’t know you because all you do is show a smile and confidence.” Uhm, WHAT?! So glad Simone said “Smiling doesn’t get you gold medals.” Way to remind them who she is.
The BEST part of Normani’s trio was the end, when she left Val and Alan for Bonner.
Speaking of Bonner, I thought Len’s comments were mean. The Judges have been that mean before, back when Master P was on. I do think it was uncalled for, in light of the fact that Bonner actually went home. Perhaps Len was worried it would be Normani and was planting the seed for Bonner to bow out.
Is anyone else bothered by the sexism in these dance scenarios? Normani’s construction site dance to “When I Grow Up” and Bonner’s boss man with two secretaries this week. It’s just gross.
