Dancing with the Stars Season 24, THE FINALE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?
At the final already, thank god. 🙂 Should be a redemption dance plus the freestyle followed by the final two dancing on Tuesday. Thanks to George Pennacchio for the dance info…
ETA: Updated with Freestyle dance info below. Musical Performers Include Hailee Steinfeld, OneRepublic and Lady Antebellum. Also, Nicole Scherzinger and Colt Prattes Dance to ‘Do You Love Me?’ From ABC’s Upcoming New Adaptation of the Global Pop-Cultural Phenomenon ‘Dirty Dancing’. Here is more info courtesy of ABC. Note that there won’t be an elimination on Monday night.
ETA2: Running-order updated per George P. Can’t remember if the pattern still holds or not, but I don’t think the person dancing 1st on the first night of finale week has a very good chance of winning – sorry, David fans. Pleasantly surprised to see Rashad going last again, but it doesn’t necessarily mean anything – but in light of rumors circulating that Shad might be doing the tour, I have to wonder if we may see the tides turning in his favor tonight. -Court-
There will not be an elimination at the end of the night, and the three remaining couples will go on to vie for the coveted Mirrorball.
In the 2-1/2 hour season finale on TUESDAY, MAY 23 (8:30-11:00 p.m. EDT), the three finalists advance to the final stage of the competition. The night kicks off with a rousing opening number, featuring a reunion of all 12 of this season’s couples, along with judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough, and hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Exciting season finale performances include Academy® Award-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld performing her latest single, “Most Girls,” OneRepublic performing their latest hit, “No Vacancy,” alongside a dance by Sharna Burgess and Gleb Savchenko, and Lady Antebellum performing their hit song, “You Look Good,” alongside a dance with Witney Carson, Hayley Erbert, Artem Chigvintsev and Gleb Savchenko. Also, from ABC’s upcoming new adaptation of the global pop-cultural phenomenon “Dirty Dancing,” celebrating the 30th anniversary year of the iconic film, rising star Colt Prattes, who portrays Johnny, and season 10 “Dancing with the Stars” champion Nicole Scherzinger, who plays ‘Penny,” will dance to the hit song from the movie, “Do You Love Me?” The TV musical movie event airs Wednesday, May 24 (8:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Additionally, fans will get a sneak peek at the sensational “Dancing with the Stars: Live! – Hot Summer Nights” tour that will be traveling across America over this summer.
There will also be separate girls and guys’ numbers. The girls’ number features Heather Morris and female Pros and Troupe dancing to “River” by Bishop Briggs, and the guys’ number incorporates the male Pros and Troupe dancing to “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars.
In the last element of competition, the three couples will perform a new routine as part of a 24-Hour Fusion Challenge. The couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season, and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points.

I can’t wait for David and Lindsay’s VW! Let’s Hurt Tonight is one of my favorite songs!
On another note, I’m surprised that Rashad and Emma aren’t redoing foxtrot since they topped the leaderboard with their VW.
Surprised that both David and Rashad are doing V waltz but not complaining. I was figuring that Rashad would either get foxtrot or samba and David would get cha cha since those were some lower scores dances for them. Can’t wait to see both of those redemption dances and based on what Jessica Radloff tweeted in regards to the medleys for the freestyles I’m excited for those as well.
I think it’s incredibly unfair that Normani gets to do Quickstep as you know it will be more of a jazz/lindy/charleston/fusion with 10 seconds in hold, whilst David & Rashad have to do dances with less scope for snazzy choreography. I think they’ll rave about how much she has improved when she’ll only do 10 seconds in hold. Also, she gets to stand out with a fun, happy dance while David & Rashad have to do boring ballroom ones that are interchangeable(both VW). If Normani isn’t 2nd(in the middle between two slow ballrooms), the fix is most definitely in. I think/hope that it will turn out like Season 12: the pimped one gets 3rd(Chelsea/Normani), the funny, charismatic dancer comes 2nd(David/Kirstie) and the footballer with no dance experience wins(Rashad/Hines). I think it would be fair if Normani had to learn a new dance(make her work for the MBT) while Rashad got to do Contemporary(his best dance and his wow dance of the season) and David got to do his Jazz(his most entertaining and it is less strict than Ballroom)
BTW, I live in England. Can anyone tell me how to do VPN voting. I really want to power vote for Rashad but I don’t know how.
Ugh. Normani has a contemporary showdance to Andra Day. This is so unfair. Val is so cliche- why does he have to do that- why couldn’t he go for something different for once. I can’t wait for Lindsay & Emma to annihilate Val in the Freestyle Round 🙂
@Brittany C – I had never heard of Jessica Radloff. Not sure if her info is legit, but if so, I’m surprised that Normani may be doing a slow song for her freestyle.
Sophie, google for a VPN (I use ‘Tunnel Bear’ which I think will work for England for the US but not sure), make sure it’s turned “on” when you use it, and that you have an account at the DWTS official site and then you can vote (hopefully).
Did I read that correct above…”The girls’ number features Heather Morris and female Pros and Troupe dancing to “River”.”
So Heather is dancing with the female pros and troupe?
@Sandy
Jessica is one of the reporters that covers DWTS. She’s reliable, she works a lot with George. She even posted a pic of them at the show this week and captioned it saying he was her work husband.
I’m not too terribly surprised about Normani doing a contemporary freestyle. It seems like that’s become Val’s go to. It’s redudant since she just did contemporary but I’m excited for David and Rashad’s freestyles, looks like they will be upbeat and fun and after what Lindsay produced for Calvin last season I’m super jazzed to see what she can do for David.
I’m totally excited for Rashad and Emma getting VWaltz to show their chemistry and then the Bruno Mars is a great freestyle tune
Thanks Voguerista. Got three accounts set up already. How do these people do so many votes
Brittany, Jessica may be friends with George, but, she doesn’t work with him. She is an entertainment reporter for Glamour and a big C bro fan.
Sandy, I’m afraid you read it right on Heather.
Uh oh! Normani’s freestyle song “What the World Needs Now is Love”. So I guess we may be going down a repeat of the tears and bullying agenda.
Rashad and Emma’s freestyle sounds like fun! I can’t wait.
David’s freestyle will be fun too, but I really don’t care for that song.
I’m slightly embarrassed that I cannot support Normani because I do not like her partner. Two and a half hours is too much for me. I hope the videos go up fast. David or Rashad. I think that Rashad is as good a dancer as Normani.
I am just a little surprised that Rashad is dancing to another bruno song though. I was hoping for something different like fray or one republic. The only time Val did a upbeat freestyle was last season and the season before. I wonder why Val and normani are not doing a medley.
Guys, sorry to bother you but what time does voting open and close
Additionally, how many accounts is a good number to set up. I’ve done 10 already but not sure how many more I should do?
Only song I could love without is the one that normani and Val have for quickstep to be honest. Rashads freestyle screams fun already 🙂
@Sandy, I found that interesting as well! Guess they have finally dropped that little act of theirs about Heather not being a professional dancer. Of course, now that she is not competing with Maks, I suppose that it’s no skin off their backs anymore to show off who she truly is.
I find it interesting that Rashad has has the VW for his redemption dance. I thought their VW was one of their strongest dances, while their foxtrot and Samba were their weakest dances (by no major fault of their own, they were given crappy songs and- bless Emma Slater’s soul, she choreographed the hell out of those dances despite the crappy song choice, unlike some other pros //end rant). I’m not surprised that David has the VW, because his in hold dances need work (tuck in that booty sir!!). The freestyles are usually pretty enjoyable and the judges usually give them 10s (barring some egregious error). But like you guys, I think David might get sandbagged by the judges in the redemption round. I hope they don’t do it to his freestyle, because it would be very transparent and obvious if they did. Although….I suppose this season’s version of our 4 judges don’t care about being obvious…do they?
My mother-in-law and I are both ready for this season to be over.
Sophie, the number of accounts is up to you (though I’m not sure how many accounts they allow as they’ve tried to crack down on that). As for the time: Online voting is open from the start of the episode at 8:00 p.m. ET and closing at 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning.
Thanks Vogue. Love the mods round here. 🙂
YW and THANKS! x
Jesus…I just saw where we have to sit through 2.5 hours of drivel before the damn winner is crowned and this horrible season is over.
So, let me get this straight: the only two dancers who have to dance freestyle to medleys are the men – complete with possibly difficult tempo changes. The only two dancers who have to dance to slower tempo regular dances are the men, while Normani gets to dance quickstep very uptempo. I don’t see how the men chose their own freestyle music, since they are medleys.
I’m going to guess that Normani goes last AND that her fusion is the easiest possible one they can come up with.
@Tori when did Heather or anyone on the show ever say that Heather was never a professional dancer? The producers said it, the judges said it, Heather said it in her first package. What the producers & judges did say, that had everyone up in arms, is that she could compete in spite of having danced professionally because her dance background isn’t ballroom. If there was anyone who was not up front about their dance background it was a certain person who is performing in the finals.
I don’t understand why anyone who complained about Heather being a former professional dancer should care whether she takes part in a dance with the female pros when it has no bearing on the competition. For all we know that might have been part of the deal to get Heather to participate in the first place when it was clear from the moment she was cast that she was never going to be allowed to win.
Yes we knew Heather was dancing with the female pros in the finale because she & Sharna were in (I think) Heather’s snapchat & Whitney mentioned her as part of the group on her Instagram.
@Heidi – I thought the freestyle was the one dance that the couple always chooses. I guess after 24 seasons I’ve learned something new.
They do, normally, Sandy – I just don’t see the two men choosing *medleys*. I can’t fathom that both would think of that and that their pro would think it was a good idea. That’s why I’m speculating that the producer’s hands (aka Mandy’s) are involved.
P.H., I bet, injured ankle or not, we have some high kicks (heck maybe in all three dances). Maybe Val has a secret fetish to be a Rockettte? So basically Normani will have now danced 4 freestyles by the time this is over (team dance, jazz,, contemporary and finale). And if Val does his usual lazy choreography, the QS and fusion won’t actually have much of the actual style and steps of the assigned dance, so these two could turn out to be freestyles of some kind. But, no, there is no favoritism; right ???! I already need wine, lots and lots of wine, and I’m,not even watching live!
And Normani’s song as well? Probably not. It’s a perfect choice to fit their agenda.
I think Val’s obsession with Derek continues. Ever since Derek has done a couple killer contemporary dances, Val’s been trying to do that also. And then there’s this need to not do the assigned style – something that Derek rarely does, but he does get very creative. Maybe that’s what Val is trying to be. He’s failing, IMO, but that’s the only thing that makes sense. He KNOWS what the styles are supposed to have.
Oh boy, It looks like the Chicago Cubs have a game on Monday night at Wrigley Field. And with David’s song choice.. He could pull an upset.
Rashad doesn’t have Harmonizer type fans nor does he have a current team. He is going to need our help.
They should all have to do medleys. The transition breaks up the dance so I don’t understand why they’re doing it that way.
I think Mandy is on the fam team and most likely suggested the freestyle. We know Val didn’t choreograph his jazz so someone is doing this dance too, would lay money on it.
I just do not understand why — after each couple did like 12 different styles of dance — Rashad and David got the same redemption dance??? Rashad’s VW wasn’t even bad the first time???? How much more transparent can they be??? Also don’t understand why they’re both using mashups for their freestyles while Normani isn’t. My prediction is that David will go first, then Normani, then Rashad…or Rashad, Normani, David…because I think it would be weird if they had the 2 VW’s go right next to each other…buy hey im probably wrong. Recently though, the person who wins the show has been going 2nd when the finale is only 1 hour long (Nyle, Laurie.) I’m excited to see David and Rashad dance but I don’t know why I even bother getting hopeful that one of them might win the MBT…it’s obvious that normani and val are the “winners.”
I don’t usually like contemporary especially for the freestyle. The only ones that stand out for me are Derek’s with the exception of Nyle and Peta’s (even though I voted for Paige that whole season). It’s probably just me but I love fun freestyles. I’m so ready to see what Emma and Lindsay come up with. Calvin’s freestyle was one of my favorites!
My gut feeling is starting to think that Normani might actually win this season.. and I really hope not. I’m Shad and Emma all the way, and I really think they’ve earned it to get the trophy.
I only looked on wiki to check but if I think last season the running order for night one and two were different? I know it doesn’t do much but I hope that’s the case this time too, as it personally gets rid of my mentality that the last person is probably the winner but hey, it’s just one more week to get through.
Night one and two running orders are usually reversed unless some set requires more time and they have to switch it up.
Quickstep was easily Normani’s weakest dance so it makes sense she got it. I was expecting David to get Cha-Cha or Argentine Tango and Rashad to get Samba so them both getting VW is surprising, though most of last season’s “redemption” assignments were for styles the couples did pretty well with the first time so I don’t know how they choose.
As for the Freestyle round I am pretty sure the couples chose their songs. Lindsay came up with a really good dance for a medley last season so I don’t see why they wouldn’t work this time. And it’s cool that Rashad is coming full circle by dancing to Bruno again after his Cha-Cha the first week!
I pray to see Rashad & Emma come out on TOP and kill it with their Viennese Waltz and Freestyle dance on Monday Night FINALS.
VOTE for Rashad & Emma!! Call 1-800-868-3411
I’m ill sad that we don’t get to see a Sasha & Simone freestyle, and I still believe it’ll be hard for Sasha to ever get another shot. Hopefully this will at least be the beginning of something good for Emma, at least.
Hmm…Did they choose to have David and Rashad dance the same style to justify really low balling David and picking his dance apart? Makes me think David is raking in the majority of votes. David is my favorite, but I like Rashad also, and he is a much better dancer. Praying for an *upset, and for Rashad to win. Seems only fair that Val should have to dance the vw also. Excuse my stupidity, fair does not apply when it comes to Val.
On paper I am pretty excited for Rashad, is it really a medley since the Drumline Lets Go incorporates Bruno Mars, but we’ll see I guess. I am also stoked for the VWaltz which will contrast Davids sort of Father/daughter style. Both are moving, but I know which one I’m looking forward to, since there will be less sentimentality and more sensuality with Rashad. I think the choice for VWaltz for the guys is probably where each got a spike in votes. I think Rashad will also demonstrate his improvement over week 2, because he knows Len will be marking frame and footwork. This will be another chance for David to improve his posture and fluidity.
Unfortunately we just saw David and Lindsay do the dad routine just last week so it will be less impactful for him.
As for Normani another contemporary routine is going to be a yawner for those who are tired of her doing the same thing week after week. If the sprain is significant then there will be an impact on how her routines are executed. i never like it when someone dances hurt, but this happens all the time and the audience never needs to know, unless the show needs for the audience to pity the dancer.
Mandi, I agree … Calvin & Lindsay’s freestyle was so much fun! Definitely one of my favorites.
Well, I hope Emma will win this season. We got a chance to see Emma with a good partner.
Let’s go Normani and Rashad!
I think medleys are great, if you choose the right songs and are creative with choreography and transitions. Remember Alfonso’s freestyle? That was danced to a medley- my favorite freestyle ever. I think the breaks in music, and sometimes tempo keep the dance dynamic and exciting, it keeps the viewers guessing – if done right.
Someone said something about making multiple voting accounts, I only have 2, which are my regular accounts, but I’ve seen so many Valmani fans talking about voting 3000 times, 800 times, 25.000 times! Staying up all night voting. Also she’s getting a lot of publicity this week, with the Bonner thing & the injury.
I really want Rashad to win, but for that to happen the people who want the same are gonna have to vote HARD.
The last time Val danced 2 contemporaries in the same season he got 3rd place. Kinda hoping David will be able to sneakily get 2nd and Rashad 1st. But who knows how the average viewer is voting… I’ll ask some family members if I can use their email accounts to vote 🙂
Maina, what Bonner thing?
@Maina, with the voting restrictions now, I take their comments with a grain of salt. You can only vote on one device per household so it’s not like they’re voting on 5 or 6 devices at the same time. Me thinks they’re saying that to make all the other fanbases feel threatened or scared.
@Rose1, the bonner thing is that Bonner has a crush on Normani and wants to go on a date with her.
I could be wrong but to anyone thinking David is gonna pull in an upset, because of fan base or whatever game is being played is somewhat highly unlikely because he is going to have a steep mountain to climb most likely come Tuesday night, simply because the judges scores are gonna take a toll, you’ve got last Monday, he’s 7 behind Rashad and 6 behind Normani…then you will have this coming Mondays scores, in which i predict he will be in third, then you will have Tuesdays night scores in which there will be no fan voting at all if I’m correct. So lets be smart with the voting and i hope the split voting is done, its all or nothing at this point. Go Rashad and Emma.
@Maina…don’t worry about publicity, Simone got a lot of that last week.
I’m thinking David’s going to be put in the number three spot this coming week but I wouldn’t be disappointed at all if he got higher.
I’m really hoping for Emma & Rashad win, and I’m going to vote hard (at practical normal person measures… not like 25k like some people claim lol).
The Bonner thing sounds as vapid as he looks. Hey Sharna, it’s kind of pathetic at this point to keep pushing showmances just to get Val another win. Bonner bitches might even get all jealous of Norm and vote for Rashad instead
Agree Casanova…it’s like Bonner trying to stay relevant, when in fact he really wasn’t relevant when he still was on the show.
I’m really looking forward to David and Rashad’s freestyles, Lindsay always kills her freestyles and I cannot wait to see what Emma comes up with.
What I’m not looking forward to is you know Val is going to have Normani do that stupid bow that every single member of the Fam has done at the end of their last dances in the finale since season 18. IDK why it irks me so much, it just comes off as so self-indulgent and pretentious. I liked Nyle and Peta, but even when they did it I was rolling my eyes.
I just wish his choreography and concepts weren’t so redundant, I always feel like his dances are just regurgitations of previous seasons. Based on what we have seen this season from Val, I fully expect the end if their fusion dance to be one last high kick then the bow.
@Tina (#46) You are allowed a certain number of votes (5 votes for the finale) PER METHOD – phone, Facebook, and email address registered at ABC.com. Voting is not limited to just one device per household.
The average person usually has access to 2 phone lines, 1-2 Facebook accounts, and 2-5 email addresses. That’s 5-9 methods of voting right there.
The email method most facilitates power voting, but it takes a few steps, including creating new addresses (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc), registering them at ABC.com, and verifying the addresses by clicking on a link in a message that ABC.com emails you.
Creating, registering, and verifying hundreds and thousands of email addresses is possible, but it takes planning (done throughout the season) and some insanity, LOL.
Why does everyone here think the producers want Normani to win? She’s had by far the worst performance slots of any of the top four. She only had one of the last three performances of the night for 2 out of 9 weeks (disregarding team dances/dance-offs). Compare that to Simone (5 out of 9 weeks), Rashad (6 out of 9 weeks) and David (6 out of 9 weeks).
@Lisa. Let me count some of the ways.
Normani, Val, and her grandmother, have gotten more screen time than other contestants AND more publicity from the ABC approved outlets.
Normani was the only contestant to be given both of the ruleless dances, contemporary and jazz. Plus both were given to her late in the season when the 10 paddles were out. Interesting to that she hasn’t had samba, the most difficult style.
Val’s choreo has been incredibly redundant. How many times have we seen that same high kick? Which isn’t as impressive as it could be because of Normani’s posture.
Also, Val has used several bars of most dances futzing about. Len has crucified other contestants about it yet called Team Valmani on it only once when a full 1/2 of the dance was wasted.
Val hasn’t produced the assigned style most weeks. Their routines have little actual ballroom/Latin content while adding hip hop and other moves just to “titanate” the
audience. Again, the always causes Len apoplexy and he has hammered other teams over this, even this season. But mysteriously, he doesn’t seem to mind it in Val and Normani! Even giving them high scores despite the lack of content.
Back to Len – We know he loved Nancy & Artem. Plus, last week, he even told Simone she was his favorite on air. But he was withholding 10’s from Simone, despite extremely difficult and perfect routines. Yet Len is gushing over a contestant not his favorite whose routines aren’t to the old guys taste? Producer driven marks much?
Carrie Ann, the lift police, conveniently misses lifts in Normani and Val’s dances.
Heather was acknowledged as a professional dancer/performer everywhere, including on DWTS itself. Normani is a professional performer/dancer yet they are acting and SCORING her as if she isn’t. Interesting when dance/performance background was acknowledged in CERTAIN other contestants like Nicole Scherzinger and curiously, Paige Vanzant who had dance classes until high school. Difference – the pro certain contestants are paired with.
The girls team was actually given a 5th Harmony song when there were quite a few other groups that would have been more relevant.
And this doesn’t take into account ways in which they have hampered other teams. Or iffy producer driven events like the double elimination/immunity night.
I get that the crooked TPTB want Normani to stand out since she’s not getting the votes so they gave Rashad and David the same dance VW. But the VW compliments both Rashad & David & they stand out more to me because the VW contrasts with their tough, athlete, image.
Also, Normani’s freestyle to “What The World Needs Now Is Love”, gag me! I’m over the ‘feel sorry for me’ bit to get votes and the somber, lecturing, I’m deep, forced projection (of course it has Val written all over it).
Rashad, David and Simone have something in common. They managed to tell hardship phases of their life but that’s never what you remember or the first thing you think of because they are so grateful & positive and don’t live in the negative, feel sorry for me, sympathy place.
To me Lisa…it’s not about what slot she’s dancing, it about when she finish dancing, the judges seems to throw 10s at her like it’s free water, i believe up til last week, Normani, had recieved four 10s in a row from four consecutive dance routines from Carri Ann and Bruno, it was during the time while Julianne was away a couple of weeks and even then i believe the guest judges scored her 10s. Maybe it’s just me and my opinion, but she flounces around a lot and dances with very little technically and considering thats what their scoring on just baffles me.
The producers want Normani to win; the last few weeks, she just had to step out on the dance floor and she was going to get a 40. As compared to Rashad who constantly hears about his footwork and hands. David also gets criticism. Not saying that David and Rashad don’t deserve critique but Normani isn’t perfect.
Running order does matter to an extent. However, it doesn’t when a fellow competitor has to overcome perfect scores when their scores are too low.
I am a Rashad fan; he deserves to win. In terms of which pro deserves it? Emma and Lindsay deserve it more than Val. Their choreography has been more intricate and difficult. And, they both are making this experience more about their partners than themselves.
Let’s ignore the fact that Val was awarded freestyle after freestyle and technique didn’t matter because his partner is a “performer.” No critiques, no suggestions for improvement. I’ve never seen that with any of the previous contestants. The subliminal messaging this season is real. The fact that she has been pimped is mentioned over and over on the show’s FB, not just here.
Well, gee, Lisa, if running order was all that mattered you might have a point. But, sadly, it takes a lot more than that. You don’t get to ignore ALL the other instances of manipulation, focus on one, and claim everyone is clearly wrong. That’s just childish. Try again.
That it’s self indulgent and pretentious is WHY it bothers you, Becs. 🙂 It bugs me too. But that’s why I’ve never been a Fam fan – that’s their middle name, along with “hypocrite”, self important and a myriad of other things that bother me in people.
As someone who has, in the past, power voted when it was MUCH EASIER to do than it is nowadays, I have to call bullshit on the 25000 votes thing. I just don’t believe it’s possible. And if someone found a “hack” to do it, odds are good that the votes were thrown out or not even counted to begin with.
Derek fans used to log thousands of votes years ago when we were more invested in him winning and guess what? He didn’t always win in spite of power voting…and he won at least TWO of his MBTs when his die hard fans just weren’t power voting anymore. Normani might win…but it won’t be because 100 fans voted 25,000 times each. It will be because the sheeple bought the manipulation.
Luv the fact that both David and Lindsay and Emma and Rashad are doing song medley’s for their freestyles-great song choices and I think the dance routines will be very fun, creative and upbeat-just what I like to see in a finale lol.
Why in god’s name is Normani and Val doing a dance to that song for the finale?! It’s a pretty song but I just don’t see it having an impact like the other two couples. Is Val doing it on purpose? Trying to be the oddball while the other two couples do medleys? ? I’m SERIOUSLY hoping it backfires on them and their routine is a big DUD compared to David and Rashad. ?????
I guess it’s my tinfoil hat but I didn’t “buy” the idea that the contestants sorted themselves into Olympian vs. Olympian, NFL vs MLB and the left overs for their dance offs. And I can’t get over the coincidence that both Rashad and David both chose to re-do their Viennese Waltz and both chose medleys for their freestyles. While it just so happens that Normani will get to re-do an early, poorly scored dance and will have the only “message” and probably only contemporary freestyle. No one else think that the producers had something to do with this? Like maybe the “judges” chose what dance each couple is to re-do………….
Thank goodness Val’s freestyles vary from a let down to awful!
I power voted some for Nancy and Artem this season, and I actually found the actual voting itself was faster than in the past (you just indicate the number of votes and submit all at once).
It’s the creating, registering, and verifying of accounts that’s time consuming. However, that can be done throughout the entire season, 7 days a week. And that’s on top of accounts already created from previous seasons (the last time I had to verify my accounts was Season 20).
I wish DWTS would stop wasting time on ridiculous segments in order to have more time when the winners get announced
Nah, I still don’t buy it, Cali. Not the claims of 25,000 votes. Even with the easier voting itself, you still have to log in, log out, keep track of which accounts you’ve voted – all 5,000 times. That’s 3.5 accounts per minute for 24 hours straight. I think anyone who makes that claim is lying.
But beside all that, they won’t have 24 hours on the finale night. They have 12 to 14 hours. That means 7 accounts per minute – yeah, you can do that for a while, but one has to pee, eat, drink, etc. That likely ups it to 9-10 accounts per minute. Close to an account every 6 seconds.
As for creating the accounts, I would bet there are less than 50 people who actually did that. Possibly less than 10.
ETA: It occurs to me that the twits could have been making the claim about 25,000 votes back when there were still 10 contestants – that’s 10 votes per account which lowers the number of accounts to 2,500. Still insane, but twice as doable as now.
I’m hoping that Rashad’s freestyle will be full of great dancing and mouth dropping monster lifts, similar to Donald Driver’s freestyle.
To me, when I was a sheeple before Pure, I thought that Donald’s freestyle was so amazing that I thought he deserved the mirror ball, even though he wasn’t my favorite.
The only freestyle from Val that I enjoyed was the one with Rumer and that was mainly because of her cover of “Toxic”
Isn’t that the one that wasn’t really a freestyle but an argentine tango?
I’m plain excited to see what Rashad and Emma have for a freestyle! They haven’t let me down yet this season. Lindsay’s freestyle with Calvin amazed me but from the music, it sounds like she’s creating something more specific for David, like she did with Alek. So I’m looking forward to that too!
@Cali, I definitely rephrased my comment wrong. I was referring to online voting and only being able to use those specific accounts on one device. Yes, you can have multiple email accounts, phones, FB accounts, etc. however you can only use those accounts on one device. Say I have a computer, iPhone and iPad. If I use all of those said accounts on my computer, I can’t go on my iPhone onto abc.com and vote using those same accounts again. Multiple phones are possible, but nowhere near what the Normani fans are saying they’re getting in, which is why like what was said up above that it’s almost impossible to get in 25,000 votes.
Me, personally, I’ve never been impressed by Val’s freestyle finale dances-even when he won with Laurie, last season, I think he had to have gotten choreo help with that freestyle….and anytime he’s choreographed a contemporary piece, for a finale, it leaves me feeling meh ?-like the contemporary he did with Janel-I just wasn’t feeling it. Looking back at that season, they came in 2nd place I think? (Can’t remember), for all the stupid showmance crap and her pretty little liar fan base. If it’s true that Val and Normani are doing a contemporary, my hope is that the same thing happens to them that happened to him and Janel-the routine is not all it’s cracked up to be and it kinda leaves a bad taste in people’s mouthes. Still keeping my fingers crossed for Rashad and Emma!!! Hope they have the best freestyle of the night!!!! ??????
“Style” and “Val” in the same sentence is kind of an oxymoron.
@ Princess Heidi that’s why I say it’s his best lol
Just because you don’t like Normani’s dances doesn’t mean the judges are deliberately over scoring her. Most recaps and polls I read on the internet agree that Normani has been the best most weeks recently. And besides, she came 3rd out of 4 on the leaderboard this week. (I will admit that her salsa was overscored but I think every contestant has had at least overscored dance.)
No shit, Lisa?? LOL – we’ve been watching this show for year, we know uninspired dancing when we see it. And, like we’ve been saying, ass kissing works – people are sheeple and will believe whatever the judges tell them to believe.
BTW, she was SECOND by one point on the leaderboard this week.
Lisa, you’re the one who clearly takes issue with our opinions here. Come back when you can talk about YOUR opinion and not ours.
Val got help with his jazz dance so I think it goes without saying that someone else probably choreographed his freestyle as well.
Colleen, I agree with all you said, and I too was wondering why Normani got a jazz instead of a samba. Even her fans were hoping for a samba, but someone mentioned something on twitter and it makes sense. Perhaps the reason why she didn’t do a samba was because she had a hip injury, so she got dances that were “safer” instead…
@Maina – “safer” dances. I sure as h$ll hope not! Bonner wasn’ t granted any special favors and he had a broken neck. Nor should he have been.
What the heck are you implying? Norman’s got to choose her dance styles? Special favors?
Monday will be my first time not watching & following on the live blog. If we are not supposed to refresh, should we leave & return to update the page?
TYSM for providing us with another option.
Refreshing or leaving and coming back, the impact is the same. What I need people to do during the live show is to catch up on all the comments, make a comment, and then not do anything for five minutes or so. THEN you can either refresh or come back. I would prefer ten minutes, but I think that’s probably too much to ask 🙂 What people have a tendency to do is refresh every minute or so which puts a strain on the site and makes it hard to update. Not much will be happening in a minute, since I’m have to approve all comments before they go through…and I’m watching and writing on the show.
It’s a shame you had to put everyone on comment moderation because of the obnoxious Harmonizers.
If Harmonizers are voting THAT much? They may very well crash the ABC website. Just like the Zwaggers did in 2013! Clearing your cookies doesn’t work. Using different browsers no longer works either. I know, I’ve tried!
Per George P. Twiter.
David Ross up to bat first, then Normani, then Rashad
I’m surprised that Rashad is going last again.
I just find it funny how Rashad gets the pimp spot on the two nights where scores and votes determine the winner.
Yet, Normani is the only one getting special treatment right?
Hmmm…Well, KellyK, I remember when Zendaya’s fans crashed the website and Kellie ended up winning. So I’m hoping something similar happens with the Harmonizers and then someone who we all know and not really love so much won’t win. Rashad for the win!
Perhaps you should go elsewhere, Matt, since you’re clearly unhappy here.
FYI – Pimp spot stopped being a thing three weeks ago.
If someone else choreographed Vals Freestyle they should be fired.
