ABC Entertainment President Comments On The Future Of Dancing With The Stars Junior

Is Dancing With The Stars Junior going to happen in the future? According to ABC Entertainment President, Channing Dungey, it might still happen at some point. Here is more from TV Guide….

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour, TV Guide asked if the athletes edition would be replacing Dancing Junior. She said no, and that Dancing Junior will be hitting our screens at some point down the line; it was just a matter of casting and scheduling that lead to the switch.

“We were in the early stages of talent search for Dancing Junior and it wasn’t going to come together as quickly as we would have liked,” she said. “We’d been talking for awhile about trying to do an all-sports edition, but the problem is that athletes have such tight schedules it’s hard to do a whole 13-week run. This actually slotted in perfectly, so we’re going to try that and see how it goes.”

To read the full article, see TV Guide. I’m still not wild on this idea. What do you think? Let us know in comments.

DWTS “Light Up The Night” Tour Fan Photos, Cast Will Be On GMA On Thursday

Cindy was able to see the new Dancing With The Stars LIVE “Light Up The Night” Tour. If you go to her facebeook page HERE, you can see some fun photos. She said she loved the show. So much so, time went “too fast”. Awww. Below is a little more of what she wrote to us….

My favorite section was the Disney tribute. Sharna as Ariel and Gleb as Prince Eric was the highlight of the tribute. Cindy also loved Sasha and Emma’s dance together. Lindsay and Jordan’s dance was another highlight. Frankie is great with the audience. He’s so funny and has a great personality.

Other tidbits Cindy told us about is that there was new tour merchandise she hasn’t seen sold before. Besides clothing, there was a Sharna and Alan blanket and a fun bumper sticker. Cindy also said the cast of the tour will be on Good Morning America on Thursday (I don’t see this on the schedule, but, be on the watch out on Thursday or in the coming days in case there is something recorded). THANKS, Cindy! You rock!

Lindsay Arnold To Dance In New Four Week Dancing With The Stars Sports Edition And More News

TRIB Live interviewed Lindsay Arnold on the new Dancing With The Stars tour. She talks of why the show is different and fun this time. There are also mentions on the new Dancing With The Stars Sports Edition. Note how Lindsay says the new mini season will last 4 weeks and she’ll be back for it. More below including Sasha Farber and Emma Slater wedding talk as well….

The show also features professional dancers Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Artem Chigvintsev, Keo Motsepe, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Hayley Erbert and Brandon Armstrong, showcasing original pieces choreographed by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mandy Moore and ballroom and contemporary dances from the TV show.

“We are doing the freestyle, the samba, our Disney week foxtrot and our Charleston,” Arnold says. “Jordan and I also dance in a lot of new group numbers, so that is something new and different that people haven’t seen.”

Both Arnold and Fisher overcame injuries during the regular dance season.

“The biggest challenge was the semifinals because of the injuries,” she says. “I hurt my knee the day before the show and didn’t know if I was going to be able to dance. On top of that, I stabbed Jordan’s eye with my fingernail and he was pretty much blind during the live show. We wanted it so bad, we knew we had to rely on each other and work together and we somehow made it happen.”

Arnold says she’ll be back for the spring season of “Dancing with the Stars,” which will feature a mini four-week “all athletes” edition. Her immediate plans after the live tour ends in March include attending Farber’s and Slater’s wedding and taking some time off for a family vacation in Mexico.

DWTS Peta Murgatroyd To Star In Faith Based Movie “Faith, Hope & Love”

Being Peta Murgatroyd, Maks Chmerkovskiy, and Val Chmerkovskiy will be on tour in May, they may not be doing the Dancing With The Stars All Sports Edition which premiere’s April 30th. Also and in case you don’t know, Peta has a another project in the works too. According to TV Guide, she has landed her first acting gig in a faith-based family film called “Faith, Hope & Love”. Below are a few details….

Murgatroyd will star as Faith Turley, a recently divorced woman whose troubles are compounded by the fact her dance studio is in jeopardy of being shut down. Needing money, Faith enters a “Pro and a Schmo” dance contest where she partners with Jimmy Hope (Robert Krantz). It is this partnership that leads Faith to begin to rediscover her faith in life, love and the pursuit of her dreams.

This role sounds like the perfect opportunity for Murgatroyd to show off her acting chops as well as her dancing abilities. She’ll likely have a good partner in Krantz too, who is no stranger to the dance floor. Don’t believe us? Just check out his 1999 film, Do You Want to Dance?

I’m so happy for her. I just hope this isn’t the last we see of Peta on Dancing With The Stars? I love her. For more, see TV Guide

Dancing With The Stars All Athlete Edition Premiere Date Set For April

ABC released some official dates for their new Spring Schedule. According to TV By The Numbers via ABC, the “Dancing With the Stars” All Athlete Edition will premiere on Monday, April 30th. That’s a long time to wait. Are you up for it? I am a big American Idol fan. So, I’m looking forward to this change. Let us know what you think in comments.

“American Idol” will keep its familiar two-nights-a-week format when it debuts on ABC — and in turn push the next cycle of “Dancing With the Stars” to later in the spring.

That’s one of the highlights of ABC’s schedule for the back half of the season. Others include the still-untitled “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff getting a spot in the TGIT lineup and a slew of series premieres: comedies “Alex, Inc.” and “Splitting Up Together” — plus the return of “Roseanne” — and dramas “Deception” (which is getting the post-“Idol” spot on Sundays), “For the People
and “The Crossing.”

During the Winter Olympics, ABC will also run “The Bachelor Winter Games” — a cold-weather version of “Bachelor in Paradise” — to rest several shows. It will air from 8-10 p.m. Feb. 13, 15, 20 and 22.

Let’s get to the rundown, because there’s a lot to take in. Premiere dates (all times ET/PT) below. New shows are in italics. Where shows are replacing series currently on the schedule, notes on their finale dates are included.

Sunday, March 11
8 p.m. “American Idol”
10 p.m. “Deception”

Monday, March 12
8 p.m. “American Idol” (time period premiere)

Monday, April 30
8 p.m. “Dancing With the Stars” (all-athlete edition)
