Thanks, Everyone! You rock!!xx
1. They all did such a great job, but, I think Best Costume Award should go to Jenna and Adam. I loved their creativity. I especially loved the Oriental look at the end.
2. Tonya surprised me the most. It started with Sasha’s instagram post and from there I gave her a chance and forgave her. Her dancing was beautiful and she was so sweet and determined too. I’m so glad she did DWTS in more ways than one.
3. My favorite three dances were all three Freestyles. I also loved Sharna and Josh’s very first dance.
4. I’d give the “Choreograph Award” to JENNA!! She took chances and showed us completely new things. I hope they give her a permanent pro spot.
5. I loved the dancing as always and it was cool seeing Jenna making her mark this season, but, overall it was too short. I really disliked the double and triple eliminations. It felt like the producers just wanted the season over with. There were no journeys, etc. So, I’m giving it’s first time ever “D”!! I hope they never do a short season like this again. Please don’t treat it or it’s fans as second rate to another show when you have the viewers that you do. It’s so unfair to both the pros and the celebs as well. Again,,,,if you are going to go half way on something, them don’t do it at all. 🙁
1. Jenna & Adam win best costumes hands down
2. Also surprised by Tonya. Was NOT a fan of her being cast. Sasha brought out the best in her and was the perfect partner for her. I really think if this had been a full season, she could’ve won the whole thing!
3. Yup…the Freestyles…Josh & Sharna, Adam & Jenna’s & then Tonya & Sasha’s.
4. Jenna wins it for me too Vogue! I WISH she’d distance herself from the C-bros. I just don’t think they’re good for her career. Jenna SHONE being on her own, without influence from Val, et al. Jenna is a far better choreographer than Maks, Val & Peta COMBINED and she really got to show that during this short DWTS season.
5. Season was definitely too short. If anyone had a journey it was Tonya. SO much hatred thrown at her prior to the debut. I also graded it a “D” due to the lack of time. You can’t get to know any of the couples in 4 short weeks. I didn’t even watch a single live show because it was just too rushed for me. I watched the dances on YouTube. American Idol rebooted on ABC really hurt this season of DWTS. Is Katy Perry REALLY worth the millions she was paid to judge it? I’d say no…and I only bring it up because it’s the reason we only got a 4 week season. This is the only Reality show I regularly watch. Was never an Idol fan. Sometimes, things are better left in the cancelled bin. AI had its run. ABC should’ve left well-enough alone.
I agree Vogue…it’s not good to half-a$$ something. Might as well not even bother. I foresee the show going to just a fall season and that’s fine. We were robbed. And tbh, I’m not really interested in DWTS Jr’s. If I wanted to see kids dance, I’d go see the local dancing schools’ spring recitals.
I’ll have to think about the other questions, but my favorite costume was Lindsay’s extra long dress to cover Haley sitting on her shoulders! I loved that! It was fun seeing her being able to actually dance face-to-face with Kareem.
Also, I’d give the season a “D,” too. Very disappointed in everything about it. By the time they were starting the Freestyles, I was just ready for it all to be over. Usually, at that point, I’m sad that it’s coming to an end. What a total disappointment!
1. Adam & Jenna had the cutest costume in all of their routines.
2. I really liked Josh. I’m a football fan & I knew of him prior to the show & always thought he was a jerk… I was wrong. I’m still not a fan of what they did with Tonya. She admitted that she had something to do with what happened to Nancy, & I can’t get over that. Nancy was just on the show a few seasons ago. Not cool, ABC.
3. I liked Sharna & Josh’s contemporary in week 3, I think it was. I liked Tonya & Sasha’s freestyle & I liked the jazz routine from Adam & Jenna.
4. Jenna is my vote for this as well. She did amazing routines for Adam.
5. I also voted a “D” for this season over all because this season wasn’t long enough at all for an avid DWTS watcher. Dancing is something I’ve loved since I was a little girl, & being a grown up… This is something that I can share with my family. I feel like I don’t know the celebs as well as I could’ve… I also don’t feel enough sympathy for Tonya, but I might’ve it was a season long journey. Who knows. I hope they never do this again. DWTS deserves better treatment from ABC.
I honestly can’t answer most of the questions, because I missed the final 2 weeks from things going on with the kids. We dropped our cable provider several years ago, and recently dropped the satellite provider, and use just a digital antenna to watch TV. It works well, but if I miss DWTS, I miss DWTS and there’s no way to watch except to wait a week or so when ABC posts it online. Yes, there’s Roku and sling, both which we use, but we decided not to download the ABC app on there because we STILL wouldn’t be able to actually use it or view anything on ABC OnDemand, because you have to have either cable TV account or a satellite TV account… Neither one we have. I haven’t had a chance to go and see last weeks whole show yet.
Based on the little bit of the season I saw, though…
1. Best costuming…. Adam and Jenna.
2. Tonya surprised me the most, right from the beginning when she was announced. She definitely was gifted the right partner who made a LOT of people to really SEE Tonya.
3. I think Lindsay, because she had such an incredibly height difference to try to mask as much as possible, and even though he wasn’t the best mover, she did an incredible job working around what Kareem could and couldn’t do.
4. I’d give the season an F, with a possible D minus. I do think the only thing they got right was that they did an EXCELLENT job to pair up all of the contestants and pros. I can’t think of one pair that I thought didn’t have a good connection straight from photos and cast announcement, but there wasn’t enough time to really get to know anyone, and right now? I don’t know if I can name all 10 contestants! The season was way too short, and ALL of the eliminations were way too incredibly painful to watch, because there was more than one every week! No, I didn’t get to watch two weeks, but I have kept up with who was eliminated. I missed TWO weeks, and it’s half the season!
1. Which couple should win the Best Costume Award for Dancing With The Stars Season 26?
Definitely Adam and Jenna. In general I believe they were always the best dressed.
2. From the celebrity contestants on Dancing With The Stars 26, who surprised you the most?
Agree with everyone on Tonya. I didn’t know how to feel when she was originally cast but after her first dance I immediately understood that she deserved to be there. Everybody deserves a second chance and honestly DWTS IMO did a ton of good for Tonya both for her public perception and her personal insecurities. I personally feel like I grew and matured a little by being able to watch her and love her and forget everything we have heard from her in the past and just give her a chance. Also I can’t think of a pro other than Sasha that could have been more perfect for Tonya.
3. From the couples dances, which were your most favorite THREE dances on Dancing With The Stars Season 26? You can name more if you can’t stop at three.
The freestyles were all great! Also Adam and Jenna’s contemporary and Murai’s princess dance.
4. If you were to give a “Choreograph Award” to ONE pro on Dancing With The Stars Season 26, who would it be?
Jenna hands down. I’m glad we got to see her talent as a choreographer. I’ve always seen her as one of the better female dancers on the show (in group numbers I think she stands out sometimes) but is great to see her as a coach and choreographer. Honestly I did not expect her to be this good of a choreographer and also coach. After this season I hope she remains a pro because she can give us the audience some great numbers to enjoy!
5. From an “A” to an “F”, how would you grade Dancing With The Stars Season 26? Take our Poll below and tell us how you feel.
Sadly I voted a D. I hated the short format and agree it was unfair for everyone. Last night I didn’t even feel really invested in any of the 3 finalists. We didn’t get to know any of them well. Also I believe the audience and the competitors deserved to see/perform more dances. I would have loved to see more Chris, Murai, Adam, Josh and specially Tonya. Regardless of who wins, the emotional depth of this show rests in the connections between the couples and audience that is built trough time. Hope they never do this again.
The most disappointing thing that stands out the most was the 4 weeks of too shor. Everything was rush rush!
1. Mirai & Alan had my favorite costumes of the season
2. Arike surprised me the most by being a better dancer and more memorable than I expected (I wish we’d had her on a full season!)
3. Josh & Sharna’s Freestyle, Mirai & Alan’s Foxtrot, Adam & Jenna’s Cha-Cha
4. Lindsay for being creative with Kareem
5. I guess somewhere around “D+” but it’s hard because a lot of that had to do with the shorter length as mandated by the network rather than anything the producers did; like there was less drama and comfortableness than certain other seasons. Most of the pairings were well-matched, though I would have switched a couple to put Jennie with Gleb and Arike with Keo. And I really didn’t like the inclusion of Contemporary and Jazz but not either of the Tangos, slow Waltz, Samba, or even Charleston, ESPECIALLY someone being given a Jazz in the finale.
Oh and for choreography I also want to give a shout-out to Witney this season!
1. Jenna and Adam had interesting costumes this season, but part of my problem with their freestyle was the darkness and heaviness of the costume. It was hard to see their movements. The only costume I really remember this season was Mirai’s lighted princess dress. And I thought Tonya and Sasha’s costumes for both dances last night were great.
3. Adam & Jenna’s contemporary, Tonya and Sasha’s quickstep (except for that hideous camo dress costume), Josh & Sharna’s freestyle and Team Football.
4. Definitely Jenna
5. I gave it a D too. Just too short and rushed. Last night was nuts! Best part was the partnerships of Tonya/Sasha and Adam/Jenna. The triple elimination just shut the “season” down cold.
1. Jenna and Adam overall hands down. Honorable mentions: Jennie overall while her dances were forgettable her outfits were not for me, Week One: Mirai and Alan/Chris and Witney, Also Tonya and Sasha in pink last night loved it.
2. I think with the shortened format this question is harder but I’m gonna say a cross between Jennie and Jamie. I know this question was intended for surprises in a good way but these two I did expect to like more and to be better. I think they were hurt the most by the shortened format.
3. I really enjoyed Team football, Tonya’s Quickstep it was so fun, Chris’s Foxtrot, Adams Freestyle and Contemporary both outside the norm, I also really enjoyed the opening number on night one.
4. I’m gonna throw everyone and say Witney. I loved how she gave him challenging choreography technically and didn’t take it easy on him . Runner up: Jenna I mean her dances were full of creativity, Alan same reason as witney.
5. I gave it a C. Because it felt average for me there were things I liked and things I didn’t like.
Likes:
I like the concept of this alternative dancing with the stars. I do find the show can become a bit repetitive and stale so I give them credit for mixing it up. I really think the casting was great I enjoyed several of the contestants. This is the first season i’ve watched where going into the final elimination I had 3 people who could have made the final and won and I would have been happy.
Dislikes:
The length was too short. I would Extend it a couple weeks if they do it again. I did not enjoy all the double eliminations. Eliminations give me anxiety as it is.
I was not a fan of them still trying to do theme nights and do feel like we lost out on some dance styles. I think they need to figure out away to more evenly distribute the dances styles throughout the weeks. I would also say I cant stand the dance off get rid of it. I missed having trios this season i actually enjoy those and would have preferred it to team dances.
Overall I think the shortened format works well for celebrities who are well known or have a big fan base but it screws those who do not and you would need to get to know. So if they do it again maybe cast more well known and maybe they can get them because of the shorter time commitment.
Anyways its over time to relax and wait till fall. Congrats Adam and Jenna I’m so proud of him.
1. Adam and Jenna but Kareem and Lindsay were a close second for me.
2. Surprised me in a good way: Tonya. Surprised me in a bad way: Jennie.
3. Adam and Jenna’s quickstep, Tonya’s freesyle, Chris’s salsa.
4. Jenna.
5. I gave this season an A. The quality and personalities of the celebs
and dancing skills made me happy…..just not Jennie though.
1. Best costumes: Jenna and Adam were highly stylized.
2. Biggest surprise: Arike
3. Three favorite couples: Probably the final three pairs along with Chris/Witney. Lindsay and Kareem were very endearing.
4. Choreography award to Jenna.
5. Grade: D-
1. Jenna and Adam always kept the pizzazz up, including their wardrobe.
2. Tonya surprised me the most. I didn’t think I’d warm up to her as much as I did.
5. I love the winner, but this season gets a D-minus.
– It was a poorly-conceived idea from the day it was announced. The only way a 4-week season could possibly work is if they filmed two episodes each week. The double and triple eliminations were messy, and they will only discourage potential contestants from signing up for the show.
– We didn’t get to see any Tangos, ATs, or Sambas, and the contestants didn’t get to do all the available dances either. Some were dealt better hands than others based on the dances they got.
– The finale was way too short. They could’ve at least given us a two-hour special.
1. Which couple should win the Best Costume Award for Dancing With The Stars Season 26?
Nothing really wow-ed me this season.
2. From the celebrity contestants on Dancing With The Stars 26, who surprised you the most?
Tonya. I thought she’d be the first out.
3. From the couples dances, which were your most favorite THREE dances on Dancing With The Stars Season 26? You can name more if you can’t stop at three.
Mirai’s salsa
Adam’s quickstep
Josh’s cha cha and freestyle
4. If you were to give a “Choreograph Award” to ONE pro on Dancing With The Stars Season 26, who would it be?
Sasha. I thought he killed it every week. He really made Tonya shine. With a different pro, she would not have made it to the finale.
5. From an “A” to an “F”, how would you grade Dancing With The Stars Season 26? Take our Poll below and tell us how you feel.
C-. I didn’t feel very engaged this season. With the way the voting was done, and that we didn’t really get to know the contestants as well, I didn’t enjoy it as much and I didn’t feel very invested. The short season gave the skaters a huge advantage, and so it was less interesting.
1. Adam & Jenna – even when I didn’t love the outfits, they were all very memorable
2. Chris – didn’t know anything about him, but he turned out to be the type of contestant every season of DWtS needs: funny, likable, surprisingly decent dancer, and gets his Pro inspired too.
3. Chris & Witney’s Viennese Waltz, Adam & Jenna’s Contemporary, Josh & Sharna’s Freestyle. Honorable mention to Tonya & Sasha’s Freestyle – not the greatest dance, but it was fun watching her have a blast doing it, and Sasha showed her off well in that number.
4. I was disappointed by what she came up with for the Finals, but for the first three weeks Jenna came up with some great routines.
5. D. I thought the idea of a shorter season, with just athletes, had potential, but they botched the execution at almost every turn – too many couples in too few weeks, every episode rushed through (particularly the eliminations, which made it seem like the show just wanted people gone and didn’t really give a crap about them), a Finale condensed into one night where they can’t even bother to tell us who was in 2nd and 3rd place, strange assignment of dance styles (I still can’t believe, with only 4 weeks, they not only had Contemporary and Jazz on top of the Freestyle, but gave all three to Adam)… As Bruno yelled in Season 15, “MESS!”
1) Tonya for best costumes! Nothing OTT but found myself saying often, “That color/cut looks great on her,” and the figure skaterish dress from her freestyle was unique,
2) Josh surprised me most at first, but Sharna’s choreo this season for Josh didn’t blow my mind like usual. The “football porn” freestyle was pretty uninspiring to me,
3) Mirai’s salsa, Adam’s freestyle and Kareem’s salsa,
4) Jenna is slaying it out there as a choreographer, storyteller and teacher,
5) The quality of dancing that the athletes were able to share with us from night one was physically spectacular. But the overall rushjob vibe, like not knowing who placed 2nd/3rd and not all contestants being assigned ballroom, degraded my s26 viewing experience. The recycling of costumes, choreo and sets is distracting to me. Like all I could notice in Josh’s freestyle was the reused lightning backdrop from the Heather Morris/women’s dance.
I wanted to throw up in my mouth a little when Jennie switched out the Janelle Monae song behind Keo’s back because it doesn’t reflect her heteronormative values. But Adam sweeping the show with a series of increasingly flamboyant dances that culminated in a history lesson of gay dance culture makes up for that on a karmic level.
Grade: C- but I think I accidentally voted B in the poll :p
1. I think Tonya was costumed very well, but I think my favorite costume of all was Jenna’s freestyle outfit, she looked so good with that wig, and I liked the kimono style outfit on her more than Adam.
2. In what way? As far as dancing abilities went I’d have to say Chris, the man had an ease about him. As far as general surprises go I’d have to say Tonya and Mirai surprised me the most. Tonya I swore up and down wouldn’t make it past the 1st elimination, but I was wrong and I’m glad I was because albeit short of a public apology to Nancy, Tonya really grew on me. Mirai surprised me in a weird way, at first I liked her, she seemed sweet and innocent, but then she just started to remind me of Boomhauer from King of the Hill: same tone of voice, nothing concrete to latch on as far as relatability, and she just seemed like the one to fade into the background.
3. I wasn’t over the moon about many performances this season, but if I had to list 3 I’d say Tonya’s freestyle, Kareem’s Salsa, and umm… I guess Adam’s Cha cha (But can’t stand Adam if I’m being honest).
4. Choreography award hands down goes to Jenna with Lindsay as the honorable mention.
5. Ugh… aside from Tonya, Jenna’s choreography, Jamie’s personality, Kareem and Chris being absolute darlings, and a dancing bear I’d rate this season an F+.
The fix was in on this from day one, the sad part was the winner could have easily won without the extra help. Adam is a awesome dancer capable of doing any dance. The TPTB didn’t trust that enough so they gave him the 3 dances that do not really have set rules and tend to be show stoppers. The other celebs had to do ballroom and latin which tend to be judged much harsher since there are real rules. I do believe that DWTS wanted to have the first gay dancer win, and didn’t let it happen organically-they felt the need to assure it. I also felt they sacrificed Marai to make it seem all the more real. It was a bad move all the way around and this wreak of of season may just signal the end of a great show. Adam did deserve to win, but he soooo could have done so on his own. I also think they wanted a Jenna win, 1st time mirror ball winner, young and one of the Utah girls the show banks on. Who knows about a “FAM” pressure for a Jenna win. They may have made demands to assure their returns. I enjoyed this season without them.
1)Best Costume Award goes to Adam and Jenna. I loved that she didn’t go the traditional ballroom costume route with him. She managed to show his personality through the costumes, very fun outfits. I like it when people take risks like that. On the absence of Mark, it was nice that someone brought some quirkiness.
2)There wasn’t enough time for anyone to surprise me much. In a regular season, I think Arike could’ve had an incredible journey. But I have to say Chris’s Viennese Waltz was very impressive.
3)Kareem & Lindsay’s salsa
Josh and Sharna’s Freestyle
Chris & Witney’s Viennese Waltz
I liked Adam & Jenna’s Contemporary as well, even though she didn’t choreograph it
4) Again, hard to answer with only 4 weeks, but I’d still give it to Lindsay for that Salsa. She had the biggest obstacle to overcome & she was very creative.
5) I gave the season a D, thought about giving it an F, but that would be unfair to the pros, who, in these undesirable circumstances, still managed to create good dances. It is hard to become engaged in such a short season.
I agree w/some things KellyK said above: my fave FS in order were Josh, Adam & Tonya; and I think Jenna could soar much higher on her own, like Witney & Lindsay. I think being so attached to the Chmerkovskiys, although it helped her gain more popularity & fans, holds her back. She has much more potential as a choreographer than Val, Maks & Peta combined bc she’s much more versatile, as she was trained in other styles… I personally enjoyed this season without the “fam”.
Something I forgot to mention: I think the troupe worked harder than ever, and maybe got featured more than ever, this season. So that’s a silver lining to this shortened, on-the-cheap season. Go, troupe!
It was cool to see Brandon rocking the bear costume, Hailey was hilarious in Kareem’s salsa, also neat to see Artur, Morgan and Britt chatting about behind the scenes stuff on Afterbuzz.
I give the best coustume reward to AlAn the best teaching pro reward Shasha or Sharna
I give best custume reward to. Sharna the best teaching reward should go to Shasha the three best dances of the season we’re Shasha and toyna 2 dance Jenna and Adam free style Sharna and josh free style
I grade this season a f as . Why not have 13 pros why just 10 that meant Mark or Derek could not have come back the season was to short I am also disappointed that Sharna didn’t get Adam Rippon. I like the fact that the best coustume reward. Should go to Sharna the best free style Sharna
Please give Sharna some one she can win with in season 27. She is so good and great I can’t see how she did not win with her partner this time I had so many people voting for her did everything right and she didn’t win can someone tell me why like hedi did my votes even count
Please hedi can you tell me why Mark Ballas did not win season 25 dwts like Sharna I had so much people voting for him that my jaw dropped when they announced Lindsay the winner. I cried for a full year that Mark didn’t win. And why hasn’t Derek Hough been on. Please have him back in season 27. And Mark to. And please have Julianne return to judge I miss all 3 of them
