PureDWTS Season 27, Week 7: Who’s Dancing What, And When?
Country week. Um, yes. No. All it means is we’ll have yet another week of dances that don’t go with the assigned song.
Gee, who didn’t know that there were team dances next week, since IT WAS ANNOUNCED ON THE SHOW. :::rolls eyes::: Yes, it is a tad annoying when people come on to this site like they have some great intel we didn’t know…and it was something announced on the show. Also spare me the “I figure, based on instagram…” unless you’re a long time poster here. Newbies doing that just make my eyes roll out of my head.
Anyway, the teams are….scroll……. (my money’s on Milo)

ETA: Well, just to show you that they like to switch things up, it’s team captain Bobby Bones, ya’ll. And Team JoeDown, which I think someone mentioned in comments but I’m too lazy to go back and look. Entertainment Tonight clarified the team names for us…but I don’t think there is any other new information in there. You can click the link to see some photos though.
ETA2: Got one of the songs. I heart Dolly. Don’t bungle this, Bones. -Court-
ETA3: All songs & dances up. If John’s headed home come Monday, I think he’ll at least be going out on a high note with that song/dance. DeMarcus hit the jackpot with his song – everyone seems just bonkers over Chris Stapleton these days. -Court-
Team HayNow (song: “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton)
Milo and Witney
Evanna and Keo
Bobby and Sharna
John and Emma
Team Joe Down (song: “Country Girl” by Luke Bryan) Dancing Last
Juan and Cheryl
DeMarcus and Lindsay
Alexis and Alan
Joe and Jenna
Alexis and Joe may benefit from being on that team. Pretty much every season, I think one team is better technically, the other more entertaining. Entertainment wise I’m looking more forward to Team Milo.
Thinking it will finally be it for John next week. Not sure who else will be joining him.
I’m wondering if JP got to pick first. Because I’m surprised Milo being team captain doesn’t have Alexis since they are buds and he has a bromance with Alan. So I guess either they didn’t get to pick or JP picked first. I also thought maybe it was the low scorers who were captians since I saw Cheryl’s IG story they are calling their team teamjoedown. UGH not a fan of that very over joe. I am happy Milo and Evanna are together. Either way I hope this is the last theme week I can’t take another one.
I don’t think we know for sure that JP and Milo are “captains”. Sometimes they throw a switch up on that stuff. We don’t even know if they got to pick either. That used to be the way, but I’m not so sure any more and I wouldn’t assume.
If you go by average scores (per Wikipedia; the different numbers of dances makes it hard to use total points):
Team “JP”: Juan Pablo (1), Alexis (3), DeMarcus (5), Joe (8)
Team “Milo”: Milo (2), Evanna (4), John (6), Bobby (7)
In any case, I would give Team Milo a slight edge in terms of choreography (Witney, Sharna, Emma, and Keo vs. Cheryl, Lindsay, Alan, and Jenna, plus Team Milo doesn’t have Joe).
I’m thinking this coming week is going to see the double. There’s going to have to be one at some point, and they can each do 2 numbers the following week if 2 go.
Bobby said on his Instagram that him and Sharna are dancing a Viannese Waltz to Can’t Help Falling in Love.
On a separate note, what the heck does “TPTB” mean? I just found this website this season and have loved reading all the blogs but cannot figure out with that stands for??
Sharna and Bobby have V. Waltz this week, the song is “Can’t Help Falling in Love” performed live by Chris Janson (font: Sharna’s twitter, Bobby’s IG stories.)
Also, according to Cheryl’s twitter, her and JP have a charleston this week.
About the teams, I LOVE Alexis, but I’m rooting so bad for team Milo!
Did they skip Latin night? That’s one of my faves. Country night is gonna be another snooze fest like Disney night lol.
TPTB – The powers that be. AKA the producers.
I just hope no one has a cow standing around because Len will throw a fit again. He went bonkers on Shawn and Derek in All Star season when they had Country Week.
That was a season they did everything they could to tear Shawn and Derek down, Linz, for fear of backlash of him winning again, or wanting to make it a competition since it seemed that they were running away with it. It’s also an example of how the judges constant tearing someone down or nitpicking can affect the audience. So, all Len could find to bitch about was a cow.
At the end of the day, even though Derek and Shawn should have won, you have to laugh cuz Derek made them pay for that. 😀
They have had a country week before on dwts haven’t they. Jenna said that they had never done it before on the show but I thought I remembered them doing it all stars seasons cause they had the mash up group number to the cowboy troy song from Donald drivers freestyle and save a horse ride a cowboy. As a country music fan I am super excited for this week. My only hope is that we get some classic country songs in the mix to like garth brooks or George strait not just todays country hits.

Not super excited for country week but I hope John does well since near the beginning he was pushing his country nature, so I’m actually excited to see that along with Milo. Really hope they don’t keep this showmance business up with alexis and Alan……
Also, just would like to say that I don’t have a tv at home, so the only way I get to know things on the night dwts airs is from reading these live blog updates, so I truly didn’t know there were team dances happening until I saw it on Instagram.
Much love to y’all ❤️
Country week??!! Kill me now!
I am excited for Team NotJoeDown. Though that song will get butchered like every other song sang on this show, I do think it’ll be a really fun dance. I am sure the judges will hate considering who the team consists of (besides Milo).
I love Chris Janson. “Name on It” is one of my fav songs ever. Very happy he is going to be there.
excited to see Evanna and Keo … only the second time Keo’s done a rumba on DWTS!
Just my guess on scores and initial thoughts
Milo & Witney – foxtrot (song: “Born to Love You” performed live by LANCO): I hate this song but I have a feeling this will be a really good week for Milo. My guess is 30 (10,10,10)
John & Emma – jazz (song: “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” by John Denver)”: This is one of those songs that I feel like everyone knows. I think this will be a lot of fun and my guess is 24 (8,8,8)
DeMarcus & Lindsay – Viennese waltz (song: “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton): Disclaimer: I think Chris Stapleton is overrated. Saying that, I like this song a lot. This should be great though. My guess on score is 27(9,9,9)
Evanna & Keo – rumba (song: “Every Little Thing” performed live by Carly Pearce): This seems like perfection on paper. My guess on score is 30 (10,10,10)
Bobby & Sharna – V. Waltz (Song: “Can’t Help Falling in Love” performed by Chris Janson): This should be a good week for him….still think he will end up going home if Joe doesn’t though based on last week, which I liked but it seems like most people didn’t. My guess on score 24 (8,8,8)
Alexis & Alan – samba (song: “Ladies in the ’90s” performed live by Lauren Alaina): This song doesnt scream samba to me…at all. This should be fun though if Alan pulls it off. My guess on score 29 (10,9,10)
Joe & Jenna – tango (song: “Burning Man” by Dierks Bentley feat. Brothers Osbourne): Of course he gets my fav song of the bunch. My guess on score 21 (7,7,7)
Juan Pablo & Cheryl – Charleston (song: “One Shot” by Hunter Hayes): This is the one I am most excited for. My guess 30 (10,10,10)
Team dances clearly is going to be interesting. No offense to the other team (I love that Luke Bryan song) but Team HayNow has the better song….and not Joe so I think they will score better
I’m actually looking forward to this. Just scared how badly they may mangle some songs I really like. At least Carly Pearce will be live, I’d never heard of her before I saw her at the Opry last year and now I’m a huge fan.
@Vin, I thought the complete opposite for Evanna and Keo, that they were well and truly screwed with this song. I do like the song, but it has nothing about it that screams “perfect for a rumba,” other than being a slow tempo, and the name of the song.
The person in the song is at the bottom of the pit of despair post break up, and is agonized by every little thing. She’s depressed and heartbroken. Keep is going g to need to have some really creative choreography, to try to make the dance still be a rumba, and get it to fit the song.
Here’s a song about someone who is suffering following a breakup. Do a “dance of love.” Oh, and the singer is performing live. Do it justice!
Bobby and Sharna are last according to Sharnas IG story. Oof. I don’t think order matters as much now that there are team dances though.
They don’t mention an elimination in the press release this week. Did they mention one in last week’s press release? I think they have stopped doing that. That doesn’t sit well with me. It looks shady, they should be more transparent. Because what stops them from conveniently scheduling a double elimination to when the 2 couples tptb want to eliminate are at the bottom? And I’m afraid Joe won’t be among them & John, who’s been doing better than Joe & Bobby will be voted off, if not for popularity, for the judges comments/scores… Because they affect viewers opinions.
It’ll be Nikki Bella all over again. But in that week, at least, they mentioned “an elimination” in the press release, so, because I’m an old fan of the show I knew to expect a double elimination. But contestants weren’t informed, they didn’t mention it at the end of the previous episode (which I think they should always do, otherwise it seems like an improvised double elimination, decided in the middle of the week AFTER they saw the results of the voting), and most people don’t read press releases! So it was awful, and it reeked of manipulation.
One of the many reasons why I love Strictly is that everything is clear.
I have no idea why you’re getting so hung up on what the press release says about elimination or doesn’t say about elimination. It doesn’t have anything to do with transparency – it has to do with what the PR person wrote that day. They do surprise double eliminations ALL. THE. TIME. If John is going to be eliminated, what difference does it make if they do it this week or next week?
They have a thousand different ways to manipulate this show – the timing of a double elimination is a tiny one. You know there has to be one, as do most people – INCLUDING THE PROS who should be telling their partners.
