Dancing with the Stars Season 27 – Media Before the Finale, Plus a Future Contestant Reveal??
Evanna and Keo talk to InStyle…although I got it from Just Jared.
“Going through the dance and proving I can do it and I can handle the nerves and handle the dance has helped my confidence,” she continued. “That is something I can take with me on auditions and stage shows.”
“I remember when we first danced,” her partner, Keo Motsepe, chimed in. “And I said, ‘Girl, you are good.’ I look at her and think, ‘Oh! What more can I do there?’”
Evanna added that Keo has taught her how to turn negative energy into a positive outlook.
“It’s unlike any other experience,” she said of their friendship. “Being with this person every single day, through sweat and tears, and dancing for hours, the fact that we still get on — that’s a bond for life.”
Milo talks about his parents and about being a “wild child” to Parade Magazine:
And even though now Milo appreciates all Camryn did for him, he admits to being a bit of a wild child, always being into things that other kids weren’t doing when he was younger.
“The fact that she was able to deal with me for almost 18 years is crazy,” he says. “When I was like five, I didn’t know how to play guitar, but I would get a guitar and go outside my house on this bridge, and I would just play guitar for everyone. I didn’t know how to play and I didn’t know how to talk, but I would just do it. I can just imagine my mom being like, ‘Where is my kid?,’ and going around the block trying to find me.”
Juan Pablo on his Eliminations – and some inaccuracy from TV Line. Note, this paragraph is completely wrong. Nice try?
In order to determine who goes home each week, Dancing With the Stars combines the judges’ scores (which can reach a maximum of 30 points) with votes from the home audience. But the current system weighs viewers’ votes more heavily, which means even a well-scored contestant like Di Pace can be sent packing if he doesn’t get enough support from the audience. In fact, Di Pace was sent home even after scoring perfect 30s for both of Monday’s performances.
Then there’s this gem:
On the heels of Di Pace’s elimination, incensed fans are calling for changes to the voting system; some have even suggested the introduction of a “judges’ save,” through which Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli can spare a couple that would otherwise be booted. (And this isn’t the first time such an idea has been posed: Glee alum Heather Morris was also prematurely eliminated from Season 24, which sparked a similar discussion about changes to the voting.)
“The show’s been going on for 27 seasons, and looking at the thousands of comments I’ve got, people aren’t happy with the system. So, yeah, 27 seasons later, maybe it is time for a refresh, a little nip and tuck,” Di Pace offered. “Maybe instead of being completely a popularity contest, it could actually be more of a skill contest. But who am I to say? I think the fans’ outrage will probably work for something.”
Gee, bitter much JP?? You didn’t get the VOTES. And the judges save was the abundance of 30’s you got throughout the competition – earned or not. But worst of all was this nugget:
“If I’m going to be objective, we were the ones bringing pieces of art to the show. We were bringing really good, amazing pieces,” he said. “For that reason alone — the fact that we didn’t get to perform one last freestyle, which was going to be out of this world — I’m sad.”
I think perhaps you and Cheryl should think about WHY you didn’t get the votes. Or not. :::shrug:::
Then there is this bit about a rumored contestant for this season who got cut when she got arrested – Gretchen Wilson. From “The Blast”:
Sources tell The Blast that Wilson was locked down as a cast member for this current season of “Dancing with the Stars,” which premiered in September and is down to the final four contestants.
Back on August 21, the “Redneck Woman” singer was arrested at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut following a “minor disturbance” on a flight.
So, next fall Gretchen?? This show is all about rehabilitation. 🙂
I didn’t think JP would be that bitter about getting eliminated. By mid season, I was getting Gilles Marini All-Stars season vibes in his attitude and his dances were forgettable. It just looked like he sucked out all the fun in his dances and they were all the same. I don’t even remember if he did a ballroom dance lol.
The thing about a judges save (which I would prefer over a dance off every week), is they aren’t going to have one to use every week. So long before Juan Pablo got voted off, it probably would have already been used (assuming he wasn’t legitimately in the bottom 2 other weeks). I’m sure it would have been used to save Tinashe.
As I said, I don’t think the show did Juan Pablo any favors, and if he ever really was in danger, they should have put in jeopardy a few times. Maybe it would have helped! I’m more annoyed at Carrie Ann’s rant over his elimination. There have been many shocking eliminations through the years, and will be for however long DWTS stays on the air.
Gretchen Wilson would be fun.
IIRC, wasn’t there a judges save at the beginning of the season (I think when they did that dance off in week 2) and it was used on Alexis?
JP being so bitter makes me lose any respect for him even more. He’s acting like he’s the only shocking elimination that’s happened in the 27 seasons of the show so far. Please.
Someone asked Tom on twitter if there was gonna be a spring DWTS. Tom replied “Doubt it.” Tom generally knows the BTS inner workings of DWTS, so it looks like no spring DWTS in 2019.
I wonder if the dance pros are allowed to do other stuff if DWTS doesn’t return in the spring. That is a long time to wait for a paycheck if DWTS will only be on in the fall. At this point, I am wondering if DWTS will have a fall season 2019.
I think they are allowed to do other things within reason, Darlene. They likely can’t do to World of Dance like Derek did. Most of them can probably do SYTYCD – Derek was never allowed but it seems they have no problem with the rest of them doing it. I would guess they would have to get permission of some kind, depending on what it is they’re wanting to do.
@PH Well, I sure hope they are allowed to get other jobs. I would have loved to see Derek on SYTYCD, we would have seen some stellar choreography. Maybe we will see more DWTS pros on SYTYCD since it appears there is no DWTS spring season. And I am sure they can always open up a dance studio.
Don’t be negative with JP. He put his heart and blood into his performance. Len said, no justice.
It’s just right that JP feels disappointed. He was never in bottom line nor In jeopardy. He is the most deserving to win.
Yeah, Nigel said that they tried to get Derek but Derek wasn’t allowed on that show. Sans rules, I’m pretty sure that Derek would start winning Emmy’s for the enemy – and DWTS didn’t want Derek competing against himself. Not to mention that you don’t let your main dude go to another network while you have him under contract.
No, Nena, he was NOT the most deserving to win – that is your opinion. Mine is certainly different. And being disappointed really doesn’t give you a free pass to be a jerk. You get to still be called a jerk.
If the Gretchen Wilson gossip happens for real, that means my whole family will go back to watching DWTS instead of The Voice.
Idol’s ratings were not THAT great to tank DWTS in order to promote a show getting 7 or 8 M viewers.
That just sucks, completely.
It could upset people enough so the stop watching ABC altogether, even for just a while.
So unfair.
