Dancing with the Stars Season 29, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Villains night?? Okay. And honestly, this “Tyra will walk out to…” just pisses me off at this point. Who the f@#k cares? She makes Val look modest and humble at this point.

The paranormal comes to the ballroom! The show’s cold open will find Tyra Banks and the judges dressed up for the night and experiencing their own horror when they find out the celebrities have become villains! Later, Tyra Banks will walk out to “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell.

Can we please have Derek on the dancefloor to look forward to every week?? We don’t ask for much and you’ve foisted Tyrant on us. :::sigh::: Anyway, here’s what the couples are dancing. And how they’ll be dressed.

Who Danced it better….

Some weeks I can’t find anything, this week I found toooo much. So, I didn’t even look for Billie Eilish, assuming she’s too new to have been danced to – someone will tell me I’m wrong, I’m sure. I got tired by the time I got to Johnny, although I had already done Disturbia, simply because I knew it would be easy. 🙂

Anyone who’s been watching this show for a while and saw the words “Psycho” probably instantly thought of one of Derek’s iconic dances. The Psycho Tango with Ricki Lake. We were so sure Derek and Ricki had gotten screwed getting that song. Never count Derek out. I’ll say, good luck, AJ…not only is that dance a tough act to follow, you’re being judged by the choreographer who made it a legend. 🙂 Ricki wasn’t the best dancer ever, but Derek is often genius.

Gee, has Disturbia ever been used on this show before?? LOL. Only a million times. First, Evanna and Keo danced to it two Halloween’s ago..

Way back when, Lance and Lacey did a “gothic tango” to it…

Shawn and Mark also danced to it eons ago. And it was used for Season 13’s Team Tango. I think two are plenty to post. There are probably more that I didn’t see.

“Maneater” by Nelly Furtado – I only found one instance of that one being used and it was a Tango for Ian and Cheryl way back in Season 4. Found lots of Hall and Oats, though. 🙂 Not really sure why Jeannie has Hannibal Lecter, either.

Marilu/Derek versus Ryan/Cheryl danced off to the Weeknd’s Can’t Feel my Face.  While I think Nelly is in no danger of being upstaged by them, this song was much better as a Cha Cha…sure doesn’t feel like an AT.

Fever, as a song, has been recorded what seems like a million times, Peggy Lee to Beyonce. They’re using the Beyonce version, apparently. Maks and Brandy did a lovely dance to that song, that didn’t have a lot of the time wasting choreographed in that Maks seemed fond of that season. On top of that, that week of that season, they were recreating “great” dances from the past? Why don’t I remember this? Anyway, Gilles and Cheryl were the couple that Brandy and Maks were emulating or paying homage. Somehow I doubt Monica’s dance will be as good as this either of theirs…

Holy crap, more research shows that this song was danced to by Lisa/Louis and Apollo/Karina as well (and probably many more). All four were foxtrots, which Monica did in week one. All tough acts to follow for Monica.

“Take me to Church” by Hozier was used by James and Emma for a Foxtrot, beautifully, of course. The show is using the MILCK version which seems to be more suited to the Tango. I’m not a musician but the tempo seems a bit faster. I don’t know if Sasha can handle the bridge in this version as well as another choreographer. I do think this song will work for Carrie, though.
