DWTS Season 29 Watch Out: Dr. Anthony Fauci, Carole Baskin, Cuomo, Vince Neil, and Paris Jackson To Dance??

According to Brinkwire via the Daily Mail, the producers of Dancing With The Stars has asked Dr. Anthony Fauci, top infectious disease expert, to dance and he has said “No”. According to the same source, the producers are targeting Tiger King Joe Exotic’s nemesis Carole Baskin, former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe(which we know already), CNN’s Chris Cuomo, rocker Vince Neil, and Paris Jackson as well. What do you think if true? Let us know in comments. I’d be open to all of them. Bring them on…

A show source said: ‘Dr F.auci has become a national hero in the last few months, leading the charge for keeping Americans safe at the height of COVID-19. He became not only one of our most trusted faces on television, but also a man viewers looked to as an inspiration. And of course he could be good for ratings. Like Sean Spicer, he is a lightning rod.

‘So it was a natural step for show executives to reach out to him. Obviously they are aware that he has work responsibilities, but given that the show is likely to be recorded remotely it allows him the opportunity to train and dance in Washington.

‘The producers will be sad to hear he’s not interested, but they still hold out hope he will change his mind.’

ABC and DWTS bosses have stayed tight-lipped about how they will film the new series given coronavirus restrictions.

‘They still have a few weeks to make a decision about how the partners and their contestants will work together in the week and then perform for the live show. They are figuring out the logistics,’ the source said.

‘Currently there are no plans for a live audience attending the opening show at CBS Studios in Los Angeles. It is too dangerous and obviously a no go for the stars, especially with how hard unions are pushing safety for their clients.’

‘Currently with no vaccine, it is likely that the performers will pair together in limited quarantine, and then do their live performances via a video link. That is the safest option considered and allows the show to run in full until the final.

‘Judges too will either remotely present or perhaps attend a socially distanced studio.

‘But ABC are adamant that the show will air despite the problems.’

DWTS has not been afraid to delve into the political arena for contestants.

Last year former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer garnered huge publicity for the series as a contestant.

Other names being targeted for 2020 are Tiger King Joe Exotic’s nemesis Carole Baskin, former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe, CNN’s Chris Cuomo, rocker Vince Neil and Paris Jackson

Dancing In DWTS Season 29 – A “YES” For Kaitlyn Bristowe And A “NO” For Olivia Newton John

Wow, never did we expect this news so soon. According to ET Online, Kaitlyn Bristowe is dancing in the new season of Dancing With The Stars.

Kaitlyn Bristowe’s dancing dreams are coming true! The former Bachelorette got quite the surprise on Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! when Chris Harrison told her she’d be competing on the upcoming 29th season of Dancing With the Stars.

The news comes three years after Bristowe claimed that she was offered a contract for DWTS, but was blocked from appearing on the show at the last minute by Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss, who allegedly “said he didn’t want people wanting fame after his show.” Bristowe was visibly shocked on Monday night when she found out she’d finally get her shot at the mirrorball trophy.

More at ET Online. However. it’s a “no” for Olivia Newton John. Dang, I would love to see her dance on the show. More in the video below and at ET!

ETA: I saw the part with Chris Harrison asking Kaitlyn last night when I was already in bed – corny. Here’s a bit of it, along with the piece from GMA this morning, thanks to Linz on twitter. She’s SOL on the Derek thing, not that I blame her. 🙂 ~Heidi

ETA 2: Court here, just adding some links to previous posts we’ve done about Kaitlyn with regards to DWTS – one about her Twitter rant exposing Mike Fleiss for not letting her do DWTS back in 2015, and one conspiracy theory about how she might have played a role in the season 21 cast shakeup.

Charlie Sheen, A Political Contestant, And A Same Sex Couple For DWTS 29?

Is it possible we may see same a Same Sex couple for Dancing With The Stars Season 29? According to Blast.com via The Sun the possibility is real. Steven Price, a former producer, talks of how there will be at least one same-sex couple competing on the dance floor….

“Because this day and age you cannot control love,” Price told The Sun. “You cannot control who or whom you love, so you have got to support it You cannot condemn someone just because they love someone of the same sex. That is who they love — support it. As long as they are not hurting each other.”

“The Midwest is changing their dynamic now,” Price continued, admitting that some viewers might not like the idea of a same-sex couple on the show. “They are changing. They are being more open to it because they are being introduced to it.. love is love. The chemistry all the same. Same-sex, it just brings a different twist to it, because that’s something that needs to be addressed and out there.”

Also, let’s keep our eye on Charlie Sheen as a possible contestant for upcoming season. According to Rob Mills, ABC Entertainment’s senior VP of alternative series, specials and late-night programming, he would still love to see Charlie dance. The Producers would “never say never to another political contestant either….

“I don’t think it’s a huge secret because he came out and talked about it, but I would still love Charlie Sheen to come on.”

“I found him to be one of the nicest, most charming people,” Mills says of Sheen. “He is just a born entertainer and I think people would love to see him, but it may not be for him. What I really found very sweet about him is he basically said, ‘I really don’t dance. I’ve got two left feet.’ So there’s a real sweetness and vulnerability, which would be really fun to showcase on the show.

“I think you never say never to anything,” Mills added while addressing the controversy around having Sean Spicer as a contestant last season. “We would never say never to someone in politics. We would look at anything, potentially, if it were good for the show.”

To read more, see Blast.com.

I say “yes” to all the above ideas. What do you think? Let us know in comments.

PureDWTS Season 28: Christie Brinkley Out Due to Broken Arm; Daughter Sailor Stepping in

It’s been a busy morning, so I don’t have all the deets, but Christie apparently (recently?) broke her arm during rehearsal and can’t dance, so her 21-year-old daughter Sailor is taking her place this season, per GMA:

“Dancing With the Stars” contestant Christie Brinkley broke her arm in rehearsals and will not be able to hit the dance floor this season.

In a statement, BBC Studios and ABC said, “Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm,” keeping her from participating in the competition.

But Brinkley’s fans will still have someone to root for: her daughter.

Brinkley’s 21-year-old daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has stepped in to take her mother’s place for the remainder of the season.

“Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season,” Brinkley said in a statement, joking about her injury. “Sailor joined the cast when I got mine … ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!”

Brinkley-Cook has already hit the ground running with only hours to learn her mother’s entire dance routine.

She even fit perfectly into her mom’s performance outfit for the season premiere. Brinkley’s outfit did not need to be altered at all.

And this is me rolling my eyes…cause the few previous times that someone got injured prior to the premiere and they found a replacement, we got the likes of Holly Madison, Carson Kressley, and Master P (Melissa Rycroft was a notably skilled outlier). OF COURSE they just happened to have a young, able-bodied, semi-famous partner waiting in the wings for the golden boy when his older partner of questionable dance skill broke her arm in the 11th hour…

ETA: Vogue here. Here is a video from GMA on this news. The cast talks on it at camera blocking and more..

UPDATE: Per a source, the broken arm happened on Thursday at rehearsal, and Sailor was already rehearsing in Christie’s stead by Friday…and she apparently “has some previous dance training”. *facepalm*

PureDWTS Season 28: Artem Talks About His Dismissal from DWTS on the Bellas Podcast

Up until now, we’ve really only gotten to hear Bobby and E! weigh in on Sharna’s dismissal from the show, and have only a few existential Instagram posts from Nikki Bella (and maybe a few subtweets) to tell the story of Artem’s dismissal.  So as we had previously heard, Artem was indeed a guest on girlfriend Nikki and her twin sister Brie Bella’s podcast this week, and a good portion of the episode was dedicated to Artem telling his side of the story – you can listen to the Bellas podcast on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, etc., but I’ve linked to this specific episode on Apple.  No transcript today, kids – the segment is long: it starts at the 4:29 mark and ends at the 19:25 mark. It’s a good listen, though…

There’s two key things that got mentioned that I want to talk about. First, Nikki pointed out that all of the pros have basically been unemployed (with a few side projects, of course) since March, when the tour wrapped – and as we know from our research about how the pros’ contracts work, the pros only get paid if they actually get cast on a season. So while the pros on DWTS do get paid relatively well, I could see how being suddenly let go (after not working for nearly 6 months!) could create some definite stress, and I feel for Artem, Sharna, and the troupe in that respect – my office is currently operating amidst whispers of layoffs due to money mismanagement higher up in the company, and we’re all trying to sock as much money away as possible, lest we fall victim. Imagine getting laid off and NOT seeing it coming – or worse, turning down other work on the assumption that you are returning to the show, and then getting cut 😯  I’m sure there’s a clause in their contracts that spells out that they aren’t guaranteed a position from season to season, but if I were Artem or Sharna (Sharna in particular, since she just recently renegotiated her contract), I would at the very least have a lawyer take a glance at their contract to see if they might have grounds to sue for estoppel – particularly if they turned down other work on the assumption that they’d be returning to the show. Then again, if they hope to keep the door open to return in a future season, they best just quietly accept their fate.  That’s the worst thing about all of this: no matter how you dice it, DWTS holds all the cards. They have first dibs on the pros, regardless of whether they’re going to use them or not, and they can string them along for as long as they like and then have no obligation to pay them if they opt not to use them – and oftentimes, they still have the legal right to prevent those same pros from accepting other work, if they choose to.  And if the pros complain? Buh-bye, kiddo – no more DWTS for you ever again.

Second key point: Artem wistfully mentions that dance is all he’s done for the past ~20 years, and now he’s having serious doubts about his skills…and wondering if he needs to reinvent himself and pursue a different career. This clip just breaks my heart:

And Artem, I feel you on the reinvention part – I’m currently in the midst of a reinvention of sorts myself, and I find myself questioning my worth almost daily. Luckily, it seems like both Artem and I have strong support systems in place to remind us that just because others don’t always see our worth, doesn’t mean we aren’t extremely valuable 🙂

Other quick note: the Bellas actually asked Sharna to appear on the podcast as well to talk about her dismissal, but she is currently unavailable at Burning Man 😎 Can’t say I blame her – nothing like a week in the desert with no phone service, no money, no societal expectations, and a lot of drugs to clear your head and give you perspective 😉

Discuss.

PureDWTS Season 28: New EP Andrew Llinares Talks Live Voting & Disney Night at the D23 Expo

So I’m not sure how exactly this is supposed to help prevent a repeat of Bones, but apparently all the voting is going to be live this year, per EP Andrew Llinares at the D23 Expo earlier today:

“I think, first of all, we’ve been off-air now for a year, so we want to make this season really, really special,” he hinted during the panel, which was moderated by Ginger Zee and featured host Tom Bergeron and former Mirrorball champions Rashad Jennings and Jordan Fisher. “Bigger, more exciting, and more fun than it’s ever been, which is hard.”

“One thing we are going to do, we’re going to introduce live voting throughout the season, which is something we haven’t done before,” he continued. “You’ll see a show, so you might see the Disney show, and then you’ll see the result at the end of that show, based on what happened that night. So, we get the immediacy of the results.”

Within seconds of his reveal, one fan in the crowd yelled out “West Coast!,” which prompted Bergeron to ask Llinares how the live voting element will affect viewers in the Pacific time zone.

“The West Coast can still vote, but it will be voting when the show goes on for the first time,” Llinares clarified. “What we love about it is, if someone comes and does a great dance that night, but say they didn’t have a great dance the week before, they can come back, they can redeem themselves… We’re voting based on these dances that actual night.”

Gee…there’s no possible way this could go wrong! Strong sarcasm there – as we’ve seen every other time they’ve attempted a live vote, it seems like 1 in 3 people can’t seem to get it to work properly for them, voting crashes about 30% of the time, and as a heckler from the crowd pointed out, it kind of screws over anyone that doesn’t live in the eastern time zone. Sure, they can still vote – but they’re kinda voting blind, since the show won’t air for at least another hour or two for them. I could see this disadvantaging some contestants while helping others – someone like Nashville-based Lauren Alaina, whose fanbase fits pretty nicely within the eastern time zone, will probably do well; but someone like Lamar Odom, who played for a sports team in California, will likely miss out on some votes from the Pacific time zone.

Llinares also revealed when we can expect Disney night:

Earlier in the panel, while discussing the unique tie-in DWTS has with Disney, Llinares also revealed the date of this season’s Disney night. The magic-themed episode will officially take place Monday, Oct. 14, and he said fans should expect plenty of “surprises.”

What’s the surprise, Llinares? Disney songs that people have actually heard of? Songs that actually fit the dances they’re meant to go with?

And then he gloated about knowing the pairings:

“Well, we wanted to do something a little different this year… We want to keep it fresh for you guys,” he explained. “No one knows their partner but they’ll find out within the next few days because they start training soon.”

“I know [the pairings],” he added, “but we’ll reveal it on premiere night. Everyone keeps coming up to me trying to trick me.”

Anyone else getting an awfully schmucky vibe from this guy? Discuss.

PureDWTS Season 28: Bobby Bones Weighs in on Sharna & Artem’s Dismissal and Sean Spicer, Talks to Lauren Alaina About Her Partner

So…I was at odds with this one, because while I think none of us really want to hear any more of Bobby’s thoughts on DWTS, a lot of people are still wrestling with the question of why Artem & Sharna were let go.  But for once (and I can’t believe I’m saying this), Bobby made some good points on his podcast yesterday about their dismissal, as well as Sean Spicer’s participation.  Bobby’s commentary on the whole situation starts at the 88:43 mark and ends at the 92:52 mark, if you want to listen for yourself; I’ve taken the liberty of transcribing below (pain in the ass, but I know some of you won’t bother listening and will just start going off in the comments regardless – so at least do me the favor of reading this):

Bobby: Let me say this.  You know they announced the Dancing with the Stars cast yesterday, and then it came out that Sharna, my partner from last season, is not returning to Dancing with the Stars. She is not the only one – they didn’t bring back Artem on the guys’ side, so it wasn’t just a Sharna thing. But I can tell you that I reached out to her before they announced and was like “Hey what’s up? Who’s your partner?” and she was like “I don’t know yet!”

Amy: Oh.

Bobby: And this was like two or three days BEFORE the announce.  And I was like “oh, cool” because she had just been on a trip and she came back and I was like “Oh cool, let me know!” When you see who you get, y’know. So a few days before, she didn’t know she wasn’t gonna be on the show. I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn here – I hope not! Uh, so, then she found and texted me and was like “Oh, I didn’t know…this is crazy! I had no idea.”

Amy: Whaaaat?! Wow, I mean, because she’s been on, like-

Bobby: She’s been on for 11 seasons, 12 seasons, yeah. So she wrote [he goes on to read a passage from Sharna’s farewell IG post]. A lot of these sites have now coupled me with the story, going “well this is why, controversial winner!”

Lunchbox: *chuckles* I saw that, yeah.

Bobby: Which it’s not – cause why would Artem not come back, either?

Lunchbox: Right, had nothing to do with you.

Bobby: I would have loved if it had everything to do with me, don’t think that I wouldn’t think that was great – not because of her, but that we just broke the system so much that they’re having to- that’s not the case. Ummm…so…Sharna’s awesome, I talked to her before, I talked to her right after, she’s like “You’re not gonna believe it.  I can’t believe it!” So she’s not back.  I don’t really know WHY…I’m not sure. I have great relationships with everybody – all that crew on DWTS, obviously with Sharna, so I don’t know what the deal is with her. So…I did see on Instagram that she wrote that…

Amy: That’s a bummer.  It’d be different if she was a part of the decision, like “Y’know what, I’m just not gonna do it this year”, but she was just as shocked…

Bobby: I talked to Lauren Alaina last night for a long time, cause she’s doing it. We put a dancing picture on my Instastory, of us dancing…she hasn’t started practicing yet. She’s still in that phase of “this is gonna be so fun!”

Amy: *chuckles* Wait till it rules your life!

Bobby: But I was like “Hey, you’re gonna have some real issues of inadequacy with this. Cause you’re gonna go and you’re just not gonna be able to get it and you’re gonna go ‘oh well I’m the worst’ and it’s gonna bubble into your life and you’ll go ‘well I’m just not good at anything’ and when that happens – CALL ME. Whatever time it is – cause I struggled from that. 2 or 3 days of doing 8, 9 hours a day, like I couldn’t get it, and I was like ‘I’m just sad’, cause I’m not smart enough to get what I see people doing all around me. If that happens, CALL ME. Cause wherever you are, I was there, PLUS.”  Cause I had never danced! She called the postshow/preshow yesterday, she called me right after she got on Good Morning America, this is a call from Lauren Alaina yesterday…

[goes to recorded call between Lauren and Bobby]

Bobby: Have you started practicing dancing?

Lauren: NO!

Bobby: No practice yet???

Lauren: No! NONE!

Bobby: And have you announced your partner?

Lauren: I haven’t even met my partner! I don’t know who it is!

Bobby: Wait, they were up there, though, today…

Lauren: The people were there, but they didn’t tell us who our partners were.

Bobby: You follow someone, one of the pros on your Instagram already, that’s not your partner???

Lauren: No I followed him because I sang for him last year.

Bobby: I thought that too, but all the conspiracy websites are saying that Alan is your partner.

Lauren: But, I would be HAPPY if he was, I love him.

[call ends]

Bobby: I talked to her last night, she was like “They said I’m gonna have a good one, but I don’t know who it is!” She still doesn’t know. So, I’m excited for the season, I plan on going for the premiere, I saw that there was some drama because they put Sean Spicer on there, people upset about that. Y’know, I probably would have stayed away from putting anyone political on there, too…there’s a reason why you don’t wanna come on the show and not talk about politics. There’s certain places people go for politics, there’s certain places people don’t – THIS definitely isn’t! He won’t last long, anyway – physically, I don’t think he can handle it. So, yeah…that’s the deal. Pretty good cast, pretty excited about that, my thing on Sharna was I didn’t know, she didn’t know, and then I saw her post yesterday after she had told me that she was kinda upset about not being able to be able to go back.  She may go back another time, I don’t know…but there you go.  Everybody’s asking me to say something about it, so I said it – I didn’t know, she didn’t know. Alright, cool…

So, some immediate takeaways: the celebs have NOT met their pro partners yet (and vice-versa), so it’s possible they don’t know who they’re with yet. Also clear that Sharna was as caught off-guard about the whole thing as Artem was, and was gobsmacked to find out she wasn’t coming back this season. Bobby also appears to still be a bit of a vainglorious little shit, who likes to think his win “broke the system”. *Sigh* However – he does echo what we’ve all been saying about Spicer’s casting, so he gets minor brownie points from me…you know this show is in deep sh*t when even the most controversial winner ever says “Oof, shouldn’t have cast Spicer, guys.”

Someone also sent me the clip below (can’t figure out if this is from the same episode or a different one), where Bobby makes some good points about how cutting Artem loose was a bad decision…

I’m also being told that Artem is set to appear on the Bella’s podcast this coming Wednesday, so we’ll likely get more of his side of the story as well…stay tuned.

Many of you have asked me for my own thoughts on why Sharna & Artem were let go…and to be honest, I’ve remained quiet, simply because I’m just as stumped as you guys. I guess I can maybe kinda see why Sharna might have been the sacrificial lamb – she could have been removed so as to not remind viewers of the dumpster fire of last season, or maybe the fact that she’s been an outspoken critic of the show in the past could have benched her; compared to media darlings like Witney, Lindsay, Emma, & Jenna, she hasn’t been afraid to speak her mind about the show in the past (note that the last time we had an outspoken female pro who criticized the show in the press, it was Lacey – and her appearances on the show dwindled pretty quickly after that). Is Sharna wrong for speaking her mind? Not always – but from a PR point of view, she may be more of a risk than the new management is willing to take. Plus she no longer has her “It’s Sharna’s turn to win!” plot armor to protect her spot on the show anymore. My only other thought about why Sharna and Artem may have been let go is due to other projects they had going on – perhaps Artem’s participation in Total Bellas or Sharna’s gig as a judge on DWTSAu gave the (incorrect) impression that their hearts weren’t 100% in the DWTS game anymore…? I’m really just spitballing, guys – it makes no sense to me, it makes no sense to you, hell – it makes no sense to Sharna and Artem.

Thoughts?

PureDWTS Conspiracy Theory – A Case of Schrödinger’s Gronk…?

In a blaze of clarity, I opted to take half the day off in order to blog the cast announcement this morning and handle the subsequent traffic at Pure. I’m glad I did, because it gave me time to ruminate after the flurry of the GMA announcement died down – and I realized some stuff just didn’t add up.  Namely, why get rid of the troupe completely, then bring 14 pros in to couple 12 celebs? It makes little to no sense. Then, slowly, I started to remember stuff from the past 24 hours, and I formulated what I (and Heidi, and Vogue, and @justinweible, all of whom were gracious enough to listen to me ramble) think is a pretty sound (and potentially exciting) theory.  Ladies and gents, I give you “Schrödinger’s Gronk”.

First, background: Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots retired back in March of this year, after a season full of injuries culminating in a Super Bowl win.  Gronk took a beating – I don’t blame him if he retired for the sake of his health.  But did he TRULY retire…? A lot of “insiders” say no – they think he’ll announce he’s coming back to the Patriots before long, and Justin had a good theory that he may have retired in order to get out of the NFL preseason and training camp, only to rejoin the Patriots once the preseason is over. I casually threw him (and his gf, a model and dancer) out as a good casting possibility for season 28, as he had expressed interest in doing DWTS numerous times in the past but had given the excuse that he didn’t want to get injured in the off-season. Nobody seemed to think much of it until yesterday, when suddenly numerous outlets were reporting Gronk & Camille as being part of the cast. I assumed that they had simply gone swimming in our previous rumor/prediction posts and comments sections (as some outlets have been wont to do, in order to get hits in the absence of any real rumors), and they were just regurgitating what we were saying…but now I’m not so sure those rumors were completely unfounded. Stay with me…

This morning, we saw 14 pros announced as being part of this season, but only 12 celebrities were announced on GMA. Insert “monkey confusedly punching buttons on a calculator” gif here 😉 This doesn’t make sense, especially when you take into account that the troupe was disbanded – why bring on two extra pros if you’re getting rid of all your “extra” dancers? My answer: you don’t…unless you’re possibly waiting on two additional celebs to maybe join the cast 😉

Miner pointed out that Gronk is holding a mysterious press conference next Tuesday, Aug. 27, to announce “the next chapter” in his career. Some have interpreted that as being an announcement that he’s returning to the NFL…others think he’s writing another book.  Me? I’m thinking it was intentionally left open-ended, because even Gronk wasn’t sure at scheduling time what he was going to announce. Stay with me, I promise this starts to make sense soon…

As Justin pointed out to me, the NFL deadline for teams to finalize their active rosters is ten days from now – Aug. 31. The Patriots’ last preseason game is Aug. 29. I’m guessing that Gronk retired to give himself time to heal and get out of having to participate in the pre-season/training camp, and was possibly planning on returning to the Patriots after the preseason, ideally well-rested and healed up and ready to go full throttle. HOWEVER – injuries are unpredictable, and Gronk being Gronk, he likely wanted to hedge his bets a bit…enter DWTS. If there was no possible way his injury would allow him to play in the regular season, what’s the next best thing to do if you’re Gronk? Answer: the reality TV show you’ve talked about wanting to do for several years, but never had the chance. And given the relatively dismal lineup we saw this morning, I’d guess DWTS was ready to play ball with Gronk (pun intended). He’s a big get (and his gf is just a bonus – good dancer, famous in her own right, and they can exploit the couple angle), so they may have agreed to a conditional deal with Gronk & Camille: if Gronk decides not to return to the NFL, he’ll do DWTS; but if he does do the show, you have to wait until the week he makes his decision about the NFL in order to make the announcement. I’m thinking Gronk knew for awhile that he was going to make some sort of announcement on Aug. 27; he just didn’t know whether it would be “I’m returning to the NFL” or “I’m doing DWTS!” until recently. Or maybe he’s known for awhile, but Patriot fans are in such a fervor over his possible return that waiting until the last possible week to make the announcement is a shrewd PR move.  I can’t find the link now, but the NFL shop released a shirt not long ago that had the names of some of the main Pats players (Brady, Edelman, etc.) with “…Gronk?” at the bottom. Money is being made on the hope that he’s gonna return to the Patriots – so I think it makes sense to wait as long as possible before possibly bursting their bubble. As Justin pointed out, he’s still contractually obligated to the Patriots – so who knows, this could be coming from upper management at the Patriots organization.

Now, all this is not to say that he and Camille are definitely doing the show – you’ll notice the title of this post, Schrödinger’s Gronk, is a nod to the famous Schrödinger’s cat, a thought experiment in which a cat in a box is considered both alive and dead due to a subatomic event that may or may not occur. Don’t worry about the cat too much – just know that until we see the outcome of his press conference on Tuesday, we’ve got a case of Schrödinger’s Gronk: he’s both on this season and not on this season.

But I do think there’s a couple things working in favor of Gronk doing DWTS – there was the sudden surge in reports just yesterday that he and Camille were going to be on the show, as if someone had heard some fresh, recent intel; and then Camille posted this on IG last night – look at the comments…

“Written in the stars” sounds like Camille knowing that something she has wanted to do for awhile is going to happen – perhaps Gronk has made a decision? 😉

Regardless of whether we see Gronk & Camille or not, DWTS doesn’t have to make many changes: if they don’t do the show, the two extra pros (whoever that may be) can function similarly to the extra pros on Strictly, who fulfill the same roles as a troupe (filling in if another pro is sick/injured, helping out with group dances and bumpers, etc.). If they do get Gronk & Camille, I think the cast just got less dismal, more current, and a lot more interesting…and all the pros announced this morning get a partner 🙂

Discuss.

PureDWTS Season 28 Cast Rumors & Watchout: Christie Brinkley Possibly In…Or Not…?

Ok, I’m gonna advise taking this one with an extreme grain of salt, because I had heard whispers on Twitter that Christie had been cast – and then dropped out of this season – and now I’m hearing this. Given that many of the news outlets seem to be cycling through more speculative items such as Instagram comments and our own posts/comments sections today (hello, sports blogs claiming to be the first to leak Gronk & Camille, who I’m not all that convinced about anymore), I think it’s entirely possible that someone from Page Six was cruising the DWTS tag on Twitter and picked up this morsel and ran with it. When I heard it, I kinda wondered if she was supposed to be Artem’s partner, and her dropout maybe led to his likely dismissal…but who knows.  You be the judge…

Christie Brinkley is joining the cast of “Dancing With the Stars,” Page Six has exclusively learned.

“They’ve been asking her for a long time – about 15 years and she finally agreed,” a source told us.

Brinkley recently returned to Broadway, starring as Roxie Hart in a successful run of “Chicago.”

The supermodel was also spotted recently filming the season premiere of “The Goldbergs” in Hollywood.

We’re told she’s prime for the spotlight.

“She felt the timing was right to join the show,” the source said.

So…did Christie get cast, drop out, and they somehow lured her back…? Or is she out, and Page Six is just a couple days late a few bucks short? Discuss. Adding: forgot about this interview that Heidi posted in Pro Watch, where Jenna & Val mention being “one female celeb short” as of last Thursday – seems consistent with somebody possibly dropping out unexpectedly.

PureDWTS Season 28 Cast Rumors & Watchout: DancingABC IG Drops Another Hint

I’m being told this is “totally Lauren Alaina” – which could be the friend Bobby was talking about getting on the show.
